I'd like to reply to the comment one poster made as to 'where are any nations who have blacks in charge that are doing well?' One huge reason black countries haven't come up to speed when given the chance to be in charge is that whites originally controlled those countries. Unfortunately, when the whites finally decided to allow some kind of takeover of their own countries by blacks, the blacks didn't have enough training, education yet.

Very, very slowly they are getting up to speed and hopefully the war lords, tribalism etc systems many of these countries have will be done away with.

You have to factor in what kinds of disadvantages these people have lived under before you shoot off your mouth and get down on ALL black people. A good number of blacks are quite well educated in our country - Obama being a prime example. He has dignity, grace and can speak a very good sentence in the King's language as well. Has leadership ability and many more will be coming online simply because he ran for President - even if he loses. It's a win win situation for black people and those of other colors as well. More blacks realize they've been kept back vis a vis the handout system we guilty whites had in place for too long. Hand up is okay - handout a failure.

McCain is a WAR HERO. He will win. I can guarantee you if Barack was a war hero instead he would win. Also, regardless if all black voters get out and vote, they are ONLY 11% of the country.

Newweeks along with all the other magazines will say anything to make blacks look bad because they are scared.

    Dear Allison Samuels,

I am so sorry you decided to write this article, "What if Obama Loses"

This should not be about "race" and now you have successfully "made" it
about race. I know there are people out there who are apprehensive about
Obama because of race, but I am so disappointed that you felt it was necessary
to create this sort of dialog instead of viewing Obama as just "another" candidate.

A basketball family, who is a acquaintance of mine had this story to tell and it so touched me,
I am passing it on to you.

This family was watching a basketball game and someone said something non-derogatory about Michael Jackson being black. Their four year old son exclaimed incredulously, "What, what Michael Jackson's black??!!"

He was color blind ... it is time all of America is color blind.

I have a correction to make on my comment and I apologize for the mistake:
A basketball family, who is an acquaintance of mine had this true story to tell and it so touched me, I am passing it on to you.
This family was watching a basketball game and someone said something non-derogatory about Michael Jordan(not Jackson) being black. Their four year old son exclaimed incredulously, What, what Michael Jordan 's black??!!"
That four year old was color blind .... isn't it time all of America is "blind" to color.

    Sorry,
Best would be if this man does lose. Our country will be the biggest loser of all, all of us. My comments are not based on race or religion. It comes down to EXPERIENCE. Joe Biden has exepreince all right in forgien(SP?) affairs. Experience in backpeddling and giving in to our enemies. Obamma has zip, none. I will take my chances with MCCain. One thing the MSM IS NOT reporting is the very real threat of islamofacism, stealth jihad
and Obamma is not ready to handle that. Say what you want about Palin, Biden is jerk and a left wing nut like Obamma. They are all in bed with moveon, George Soros and his ilk. I was democrat many years back but the party no longer stands for the common people. Oh, by the way; I am not a republican but a REAGAN Conservative. Don't like that, oh well I have other things to be concerned about.

So Blacks are now beginning to understand the difference between racial bias vs bigotry. We are all creatures of the human race, but we segregate and have our preferences based on community. That's why over 90% of Bl;acks are voting for Obama; if there was no bias, there would be a more representational split. The fear is that Whites will recognize this bias and express their racial bias at the voting booth. Well my Black friends, if you can do it you can expect the same. We shall see.

You know I'm just so sick with this becoming a race issue. It's not whether a black wins or not, it's whether a Democrat or a Republican wins or not... Blacks should not be any more angry if Obama loses than Republicans (which can be both black or white) if McCain loses. If Obama loses, it's NOT a slap in the face to black people any more than Hillary losing the nomination is a slap in the face to all women. Though I expect there will be those numrods that will use Obama losing as an excuse to riot. It's those such people that are holding blacks back. The fact that Obama got this far should show blacks that anything is possible, but to really get a head, you just have to stop making it about race.

Why? Why write an article like this? Just to put the name OBAMA next the the word lose? Propaganda. Nope - the American people are smarter than that and we CAN NOT have 4 more years of terrible Republican policy. Open your mouth - start talking about it everywhere you go. Get a bumper sticker - wear a pin. I do. I'm white and recently ashamed of it for our ignorance and intolarance. That is the sad story here - the state of the white race. Look at the mess we have made. Obama has more wisdom, style and class in his little finger than McSame ever had in his whole life. And he has john beat on the issues hands down.

Sounds to me like what is being said here is vote Obama or else. The only way that Obama can lose is if there are tricks.. If if is stlolen from him. Electiions are about winning or losing about trying again maybe winning the next time like Nixon. Some Nixon people still think that Kennedy stole the election with the help of Lyndon Johnson and Richard Daley. I don't think the Nixon people went outside the process they learned how to win the next time. The people who are newly coming into the election process have to learn that it is a horse race. Sometimes your horse doesn't come in. I don't know if this is a good analogy in that a horse race can be fixed but that the way it is sometimes you go into something knowing that you could win or lose. You don't tip over the apple cart because it didn't turn out.. Your organize get really involved and work at the local level and see how politics works. You don't always win.and it is not fixed. I would suggest that Snoop Dog keep his clarion call for the enry of gang members, ex-cons and the like will do Obama no good and may do him a whole lot of harm. I would ask Snoop could you tell me one thing that Barack Obama is proposing.

Everyone should chill. Allison is the "race issue" writer here. Just click on her name and find what she's been putting out. This is another product from her assigned genre, and she's dependent on her paycheck just like most of the rest of us working stiffs.

It's nice that we're all upping her stock with her employer by showing interest in her work, but we shouldn't be her puppets. Don't want Allison to think she can actually change votes by whatever theme strikes her fancy. Nice photos in front, Allison. Good backup.

We're not fools, people. Vote on the issues, not the race of whomever is talking. The media may decide to write about Palin's eyeglasses and Biden's son, but that doesn't mean we have to read the claptrap.

OBAMA HAS NO CLUE ABOUT WHAT GOES ON WITH THE PEOPLE THIS ARTICLE REFERENCES. HE HAS BEEN GROOMED FOR THIS OFFICE BY THE SAME MACHINE THAT THAT STARTED THE FUNNY MORTGAGES FOR PEOPLE WITH NO HOPE OF REPAYING THEM. NOE WE ARE IN THIS MESS, AND NOT ONLY DOES NO ONE REPORT HIS COMPLICITY IN IT, THEY DO LET HIM GET AWAY WITH THAT BROKEN RECORD OF I-TOLD-YOU-SO. WELL, I GUESS HE WAS IN THE BEST POSITION TO KNOW!
OBAMA IS FROM THE THROW MONEY AT ME, AND AT ALL THE OTHER PROBLEMS, AND EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE. HIS BIG STRENGTH IS HE HAS A BIG MOUTH, AND IS A FAST TALKER, SORT OF LIKE SLICK WILLY. LET'S SEE, WHAT WAS WILLY DOING IN THE EIGHT YEARS PRECEDING THE 911 ATTACK......WE KNOW AT LEAST ONE THING THAT B.O. WAS DOING: FIGURING OUT THE FASTEST AND EASIEST WAY TO BECOME A ROCK STAR.

Unfortunately, there are people voting for him just for his race. Why else would people vote for someone with hardly any experience and nothing to show when you had Hillary Clinton with the exact same views, but tons more experience?

    • Posted By: ABella @ 09/28/2008 2:12:54 PM

I like Hillary but I want to know what tons more experience does Hillary has over Obama? Yes, she served as first Lady of Arkansas and the U.S. but as for legislative experience, I don't think so. I know many people say she has much foreign policy experience. I have a friend who has traveled all over and knows a lot of people, even met a few foreign leaders, but I don't think anyone would consider him to have foreign policy experience. I believe that Hillary would get in and fight for the middle class but I also believe that Obama will too.

As a black voter, I find comments like Onerdrfan's amusing. I would never suggest that a white person who is voting for McCain is doing so only because he is the "great white hope" against a black president (even though there white Democratics and Republicans, including Hillary Clinton, have inferred this is the case.) I would never bemean, you Onerdrfan, by suggesting that you might vote for McCain simply to avoid the specter of a black Commander in Chief. Could you extend me the same courtesy? For the record, this is the first time in any Presidential election that I will vote for a black person, and it is because of the specifics- health care, a responsible middle class tax cut, more funding for education, sending our troops to kill the Taliban and Al Quaida, who actually attacked our great country, rather than Iraquis, who did not, and who never planned to. I have declined to vote for black candidates who have run for the presidency in the past. I did not vote for Jesse Jackson, or Shirley Chisolm. Jesse Jackson, who you may have noticed is black, hates Obama so much he said he wants to emasculate the man. Jackson couldn't buy my black vote even if he had all of the money that eight years of Reagan style economics has forced taxpayers like you and me to fork over to AIG. Another black presidential candidate that comes to mind is Alan Keyes. Politically, Keyes is somewhere to the right of Rush Limbaugh, Onerdrfan, a political posture that might be more to your liking. I wonder how many times you have ever voted for this black fundamentalist, pro-family, anti-abortion, anti-civil rights candidate who has run several times. Two years ago, if my grandaughter had asked me if she could be president, I would have had to tell her that I didn't think so. I would have had to tell her about Dick Armey's "Bubba" vote theory, (I keep quoting white politicians on this subject because when we as black people dare to suggest we are targets of prejudice, we are accused of paranoia), and I would have explained to her that there are many people who just will not vote for a black person. I discussed this issue with a white conservative friend of mine, who told me he has never voted for a black person because no black has ever had a real chance of winning. I told him the same thing I now tell you, Onerdrfan; the reason you don't understand the excitement over Obama is because you did not understand that that there was something seriously wrong with our country where no black person, regardless of their position on the "specifics", had a prayer of winning the Presidency. Now we know that a black man with an African father, a septugenrian who can barely raise his arms, and even a moose skinning hockey mom from Alaska all have the opportunity to be president, if they earn it. America has come a long way, Onerdrfan. I hope you join us one day.

Everytime I get polled I say Obama even though I am voting for Mccain. Polls don't work this year.

  • Posted By: jackp99 @ 09/28/2008 2:12:09 PM

Blacks aren't going to get Obama elected. It's the white vote that will win him the whitehouse. Without the white vote, he has no chance.

  • Posted By: Gboga @ 09/28/2008 2:11:52 PM

I thought you were not allowed to vote in a presidential election if you did not vote the previous year.

  • Posted By: floridabound @ 09/28/2008 2:11:50 PM

The most disturbing thing about this article is that it promotes the fact that these people are voting for Obama because he is black, and for no other reason. Overcome obstacles, are you kidding he went to a very elite private school, surrounded by a loving family. So that line of thinking is just non-educated, and that is how people looked when they base their voting decision on race, color or creed. How many people in the democratic party really voted for him, not against Hillary? Speaking of which yes you can blame Clinton, if you want to trace the current crisis you can look at the Clinton white house for removing that minor obsticale of not having any money to buy a house, which got us to where we are today. I also don't think any personality/celeb should have any influence on who you vote for. These are they same people that only want your attention when they say so, what makes you think they have any clue about anything, other then the timing of their new movie, show or record. I believe that when you registar to vote you should get a civics lesson, because there are so many scary voters that don't have a clue of how the government really works,. Your vote does count, so choose wisely. If only we could do two things, truth in campaign ads that only take a snipet of a sentence and twist it as a scare tactic, and a blind test, it would be interesting to see who people actually voted for.

All of this Barack Obama Mania is just another example of Liberal Minded Democrats pushing and promoting a presidential candidate based on deception and false hopes for those who are gullible enough to fall for all the hype about the big changes Obama will supposedly bring to this country. Most Black Americans will be voting for Obama based on his skin color and the fact they believe he is of African-American descent, when the Real Truth is that Barack Hussein Obama is actually Arab-American, with only a very tiny percentage of Black Blood running through his veins. All of those who truly believe that Obama is the Chosen Savior of the American people should do some research into the Real background of this man, before voting blindly for someone who is not being totally honest about the facts. It's pretty mind boggling and scary to know that there are so many people in America who can be so easily deceived and convinced by a Smooth Talker who would say or do nearly anything, just to be elected as President of the USA. Hopefully the American people will wake up before it's too late and realize Obama is an Over Hyped, Smooth Talking Phony.

Please explain scientifically why a person that has one black parent and one white parent is "black" and not "mixed race".

...Yeah, it's called "Social Science": If you're not white in this country, then basically you are considered a "minority"... and I gotta tell ya, he looks *awful black* to me there, fella. In case you didn't notice...

He looks black but that is a "gene" thing. He is mixed race.
