I have every faith that Mr. Obama will win. If the American people really want change, "they" NEED to vote with their minds open dont listen to the fear or the propaganda that gets spread befor every election. Americans no, the world needs a change "we" need a good man with his own brain in the Whitehouse not more puppets.
    Just my personal opinion

Care about us? Who is us? The African American race? What about myself, a divorced white female, mother of two? I am a strong Obama supporter who is waiting for a president who can make a change to our nation, not for the white female, or the African American. I am waiting for a president who can make a change for all people. No American should vote for Obama based on the color of his skin. Every American should be voting on what they believe to be the best for our country. If elected, Obama will serve the people of the US not just the African Americans. People of all gender, race and nationalities nominate him for the presidency just as McCain was nominated. If Obama loses (which I hope he does not) it will be no different than any of our past elections. Every election there is 1 winner and 1 loser. It is sad but true that racism still exists in this country however a protest by African Americans if Obama loses will only increase racism in this country and the African American people who vote based on the color of the skin will be leading this racism.

We are a great country and whoever becomes president should do so because he is the most qualified. People should look at the issues and stop judging candidates on the wrong things, including color. Your votes should be worth more than a brainless action.

patty did u read the article? the brainless acting are voting for obama because they feel he represents them

I believe that most people are misunderstanding blacks at this time. Obama represnts to a lot of blacks, especially the younger ones " that anything is possible", it is not a hate issue. Obama is a great speaker and because of his background, it gives him a unique perspective on not only races but culture. I seriously doubt that Obama's intention was to create a division among races. I would like to think he was trying to bring them together as only he could. Personaly I do not think he is ready yet and I am a mixed race as well. I do understand where he is coming from in a way. I just do not agree with him all the way especially when it comes to second ammendment issues which is something that I feel is worth fighting for as all of our forefathers have.

It is quite distressing to see that self-righteous racism is so thourghly ingrained into the black culture. In my entire life - I have not heard white folks I know make racist comments that would come close to amounting to what I've read in this one article. In the mid 50's (I was 5 years old) a couple of times I got "caught" by "mature" black men playing with a black boy my age. After seeing them spit out their hate and anger and threats, and scolding the child -"Didn't they teach you at home not to play with white kids?" - , and a rock thrown square to my forehead I saw what preaching racism was all about. Here it is 50 some years later, and the result is so obvious to me. The hate and the anger and the threats seem to be inate to the black culture, and even viewed as a badge of honor !!? This preaching racism can now even be a so-called respectable (money making) occupation - Louis Farrakan, the "Rev. ?" Wright, the "Rev.?" Sharpton ... Yikes !! I am against racism - and I feel I know where the main battlefield is. The anger and the threats and the racism of the black culture is what is holding them back. - not the white folks.

I try, with my best integretiy, to interact with each black person I meet without being biased by the elements of the black culture which I so detest, My challenge is to not allow the rampant, self-righteous racism of the black culture to corrupt my own mind.

I am pretty much a center republican in my thinking, and very disappointed in Bush and his advisors. But I see that as no reason to swing all the way in the opposite direction. I don't like Obama for his politics and for his basic view of "what life is". (I know that is quite vague - sorry.) I actually was pulling for Mc Cain in the previous elections.

Obama is an American, Thats all that counts. He is for the working class Americans, that counts, McCain and the rest of the clan are nothing but corrupt, liars, working for the oil industries.

This is EXACTLY why Obama will loose the election. The black community is still giving the white community reasons to believe in the stereostyplical black agenda of "give us what we want or we'll riot and burn the city down." Hello, we are all AMERICANS. What is sadest of all to me is that Obama is really an Oreo and is not the true caliber of black person who should be the first black president. He has not proven his patriotism like say C. Powell, Rice or many other blacks who have given their all for this country. Obama, alternatively, is elitist, anti-American, and does not have the courage of his convictions which is demonstrated by his constant reversal on his positions. I was for Clinton in the beginning. But once I saw how she was treated by the press and now the same with McCain, it isn't hard to make the arguement that the liberal press is railroading Obama to the White House no matter how dangerous that might be. Now we see how dangerous that is when he might loose the election. Please people, we are all Americans, and there are radical Islamic miliants totally bent on our destruction. The last thing we need is to be fighting each other. We all want to see a black president someday. It just should be the right black president.

Would someone please point out to me a country ran by a black person that is enjoying wealth & prosparity?
I have been looking but can't for some reason find one.
    Please, FACTS ONLY !

    • Posted By: RyanO1976 @ 09/28/2008 1:12:28 PM

Fact: You are a racist. Proof: The comment you posted. It's a ridiculous assertion. Maybe the reason that countries headed by Black leaders are doing poorly is the damage done to them by white colonialists of the past two centuries.

Obama asks Bill Oreilly "what am I guilty by association?" DAMN RIGHT you are, AYERS,FLEGLER,WRIGHT,MALCOLM X and a host of other commies and America haters tells me alot about the character of BARRACK HUSSEIN OBAMA. I look at it this way Who do Americas enemies want to win I guarantee its NOT MCCAIN

  • Posted By: jamesmass1966@gmail.com @ 09/28/2008 1:11:57 PM

to onerdrfan; There are plenty of inividuals who will be voting for Mcain because he is white. Its a shame since he has no moral compass and is so angry still after all these years.

Everyone seems to forget Obama's mother its as though she never existed. Its important that African Americans ackowledge her as a major force in his ealry life.
Furthermore the current financial situation that has invaded America must be seriously considered by ALL voters African Americans, Hispanics, caucasians etc. Do not vote because he is a black man vote because he is the man best suited for the job under the preseent very trying circumstances. Which ARE going to impact very serioulsy on your life.
And please get awy from the continuing "down trodden "African American" syndrome. It is time to move on. The term African American is a misnomer. The average African American wouldn't be able to survive a day inAfrica. Surely the time is NOW to adjust the name to something that reflects Black American Culture and Heritage rather than the good old country - Africa

It took the nomination of a black presidential candidate for Michael Baisden to move his show from ???how to please your man in the bedroom??? to ???how do we change our futures.??? Even if Obama doesn???t win, he has already done something good: started people talking about how to actively improve their lives. The premise that racism fuels Obama opposition is as mistaken as the premise that opposition to Hillary would have been fueled by sexism. Recall the heated campaign against John Kerry. The tragedy if Obama loses would not be that the country had once again proved itself intolerant and uncaring (which it is not). The real tragedy would be if the dialog turned away from ???how do we change our futures??? to one of anger and helplessness. Regardless of the outcome of this election, responsible voices should not squander this opportunity.

THe African-American community in the United States recognizes "quality" and "truth" more than white, caucasian citizens. the white, caucasian communities routinely adopt and appreciate aspects of the African-American community: jazz, blues, phrases, handshakes (mostly introduced through sports television programs), etc. The African-American community was much more discerning of the falsity of Bush's Iraq "weapons of mass destruction" claims and recognized the absence of a link between Iraq and 9/11 in larger percentages than caucasians. A few points are obvious: (1) you can't say, when a majority of citizens support Barack that, a majority of black Americans support him only because he is half African - those who support Barack are doing so because he will be the better president; (2) some black Americans are angry at the injustice they have suffered during and since slavery and see this as validation of their existence and overcoming suffering, identifying with him because of his color. Many whites identify with people of their own color, as well as favorite football teams, state citizens, geographical region (east v. west), etc. It's silly but true; and (3) coming back to my point above, the black American communities know where it's at! You should wake up to reality, my friends.

I'm Irish, and I remember when John Kennedy ran for Presiden 98% of the irish voted for him. Irish Catholics in Ireland even hung his photo on the walls. If Obama wins he will do exactly what the few, powerful elites who work behind the scenes, tell him to do. Exactly like all the other Presidents. I am voting for him because I am tired of the Republicans and the lies Bush/Cheney told to drag us into war with Iraq. I want the war to come to a close so that we can concentrate on building ourour own country.

African Americans have for the most part voted democratic, 90% of the black vote goes to the democrats, 2004 Bush got 14% of the black vote.We voted for Al Gore and John Kerry, and lost. We will be disappointed, we will react no differnent than Hillary supporters reacted when she lost. So whats the surprise? The only thing that has changed is that the candidate is a black man. The question is what will some white people do if Obama wins. Our greatest fear is if he does win.We really fear for his safety, we know that level of hatred and racism still does exist.
I believe that the white middle and lower class have learned what we known for years about the Republican party. They dont care about you loosen your job or your house, theyll give you about $1100 dollars in tax rebates. but as soon as the companies that they gave you a bad loan to cause you loose your job or house gets in self imposed financial trouble and its an all hands emergency $700 billion dollar bailout.
I used to admire John McCain, he used to be the peoples champ. I liked him when Sean Hannity, Rush Limbooger and the FOX machine hated him. But like all good republican candidates they allow Sean Hannity and Rush Limp**** to dictate
policy.John The Maverick would have never selected sarah Palin as VP, its ridiculous, she is lost. She is not a Hillary Clinton or Condi Rice. Condi Rice is a smart woman following a dumb policy. This is not the John McCain that I use to admire, at least Obama had the brains to select Joe Biden. I fear John McCains decision making and health with the backdrop of Sarah Palins 3 cup cake interviews- this should scare all Americans. Oh! there will be a riot if we get four years of this team, but it wont be black people, it will be upper class white people, when white people start loosing pensions and investments its going to be problem.
Exercise for this week- go to your local bank and count how many white people are in the bank raising hell about about their money.

that's what I want, gang members and ex cons choosing my next president solely on the basis of the color of his skin. wake up, do you really want socialism for America.

If Obama loses and the black community riots then they will look like the idiots and then there will NEVER be another black candidate again. The so called racist white population will make sure of it. I am as liberal as they come and will be crushed if Obama loses but you cant blame the whites!! That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard!! Blame Republicans, they are the ones with the numbers! And a "fixed" election?? please. What are you going to do if Obama wins? You wont be able to complain anymore that the whites are out to get you. I almost think the black population WANTS Obama to lose so that they will have the right to b!tch and moan and riot. Just keep setting yourselves back a few decades.

I am ried of people who feel entitled...I am tired of NO ONE taking responsibility...I am tired of those same blame shifters wanting the government to pick up the tab...Everyone has hard times and we need real solutions...we do not need whining, complaining and blaming others because you perceive they have more than you. Why is it that only the rich man deserves to pay...why is so called intelligent Liberals feel that they are the only ones who know how to do it "right"...and why do so called "conservatives" are the only God fearing people around. Everyone is devisive...everyone looks upon their candidate with rose colored shades while tearing apart the opponent...Open your eyes people...these men have faults...you can choose a candidate to support...but stop thinking the world is going to drastically "CHANGE" with one man in the white house. President's do not make our laws...they enforce them and they have the ability to veto...but they do not make laws...if you mad at Bush...you should be mad at the men and women in Congress and they do not all have R's by their name!
