RACISM is a tiny seed inside the blacks'mind that bloom when they cannot obtain what they wish, easily. AMERICA IS NOT READY UNTIL BLACKS BELIEVE IN THEIR HEARTS THAT EQUALITY IS A RIGHT OF ALL, not just them ...........................................................................................................................................................................................................I'm very sorry that blacks where force to came but today they are free and they have free-willing to leave anytime because immigrants had came and all of them are integrated to american lifestyle. Today blacks still name themselves African-American. TODAY IF YOU ARE NOT AGREE WITH OBAMA, YOU ARE RACIST.
It is beyond me why the press can't seem to see that Blacks in general, as evidenced partly by the content of this article, are being racist in their block voting patterns as regards Obama. If Whites were doing this and being so obvious about it the liberal White media would be all over it. The level of obvious racism from those mentioned in this article is palpable. I can tell you that this pattern of block voting and these veiled threats will only turn people like myself, who couldn't give a damn if he is white or black, into insuring that I counter their votes. I vote for the person who is, in my view, the most qualified and most matches my political views. This idea that I will stand for veiled threats and retreat in fear should be rethought by those trying to intimidate.
How can we base our selection of president on the basis of a candidate's race? "I'm going to vote for Obama because he's black", resonates throughout the African American culture of the south. Undoubtedly, if he loses, it will be blamed on "the whites"... a racist comment in itself. I myself do not like either of the candidates, but one must be chosen. Driving me is the memory of that Act that Clinton signed in 1999, forcing Fannie Mae and Bernie Mac to lower credit standards for the poor, so everyone can afford a home. This brings us to the credit crisis of today.... I am an independant, but it is clear that the democratic party is responsible for our nations economic position today. Bush is a total idiot, but it wasn't him that messed up this nation... this is reflected on the fact that our current congress (democratic majority) has a less favorable rating than Bush himself. Democrats mean well, Clinton had a good idea to help the poor... but time and time again, these acts backfire on the majority of workers. Using race as the primary reason to vote causes a bigger rift in the progress our nation has made toward equality.
Polls have consistantly shown that whites are roughly equally devided between McCain and Obama
Polls consistantly demonstrate 95% of blacks support Obama
NOW TELL ME WHO THE RACISTS ARE !!!
Why have so many African Americans waited to start reading the papers, paying attention to the presidential race and registering to vote until there was a black candidate? Maybe its time for African Americans stop their us vs them mentality, stop thinking that white people are out to get your, stop playing victims and do something if you don't like your situation, get an education, job get involved in the community etc. There is no reason to wait for a candadate that actually cares about you .
RIGHT ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
True Democrat
its funny because you took time to type that into dictionary.com and post the results.
But it is true. African Americans are voting for him because hes black and don't deny that because you are full of ***. I work with African Americans on a daily basis and most are very well educated and they say the same thing. "Hes black hes got my vote"
Here I am a white male. My wife and I are planning to vote for Obama. But I have to say if the black community tries to make this about "black vs. white" I might just consider changing back to McCain. Not because I am a racist but more because I will become fearful of the racist black community if you force me to believe that's what all this is about. If people vote for or against someone for the highest position in this country because of race instead of who is the best leader for this country those ???people??? aren???t ready for leadership anyway. I mean that for both white and black. Listen people RACISM SHOULD BE A NON-ISSUE. It's about America and ALL it's people. If Obama wins or loses don't devolve back to a time when it was about race. Let???s ALL rise to what???s best for all of us and not just what???s best for blacks or for that matter whites either. I don???t quite get how any black person could even entertain getting mad if Obama loses. He reached the highest place in this country and he happens to be black. That of itself PROVES we are not about racism as much as about our great America. So if he happens to lose it will probably be about something other than race. Maybe even the fear that the radical blacks are spouting, similar to the preacher even Obama distanced himself from for that very reason, may end up being the reason he might lose. Don???t give the few racist whites any reason to fear a person that may be the best leader for our country by starting the ???we will riot??? nonsense. Obama appears to be the best choice. He does need more experience but I still believe he is the better choice but not if he starts catering to the whims of a particular group of people.
Obama is THE best candidate. A Harvard Law graduate and editor of the Harvard Review against a Navy grade who was almost last in his class. A man who has a grasp on world affairs and seems able to get the attention of world leaders. A man who realizes a country without a strong middle class will go nowhere. He's a black man? Didn't notice. Who cares? An old white woman
I have to agree with the person below. I have known black people who would have made fine politicians and were great people, but Obama is not one of them. He is arrogant, an elitist, and refuses to even show respect for our country's flag. I don't care what the New York "Slimes" says, he is certainly not the man for the job!!
Maybe he can't in good conscious salute the american flag at this time.
The flag now stands for legal murder (our soldiers can not differentiate between enemy and civilian in iraq so it is guess and shoot.) Maybe he along with his followers can make this countrys flag worth soomething. I hope so but what a mess he is going to inherit thanks to bubblehead bush., its possible the damage is irrevocable. Well empires are born empires die. I can not blame the other countries that dislike (to put it mildly) "us." I dislike us. Maybe Obama can somehow turn this around and make america respected again, Big maybe damage is bad our economic system is failing we are entering a state of unprecedented suffering thanks to Nixon degregulating the gold standard, reagan running up deficits and then enter bush he has taken us to the brink of disaster. He is the worst president of the history of the United States and if anyone survives the upcoming turmoil it will be written. McCain is a not so smart , Obama is smart with him we have the best chance (miniscule as it is thanks to the republicans)of saving us from ourselves.
I am voting for Obama because he is the best person for the job. I can't pretend to understand what it is like to be African-American in this country because I'm not. So when I say I know your fear, it's not because of the race issue...I know your fear because I watched white corporate America steal the Presidency not once, but twice from my candidates who, although they were white, were also the best people for the job. After 8 years of the Bush/Chaney debauchery, I am feeling desperate and panicked...what if the best person for the job doesn't win yet again?! I am seriously considering leaving this country to live elsewhere. Not because a person of color didn't win, but because the BEST CANDIDATE didn't win and our country is too stupid, or too blind, or too corrupt to care. I hope my country doesn't disappoint us again. Power to the people!! VOTE and we will prevail!!! Kathee H.
to the African American racists out there (sadly, it appears there as many of them as white racists) - how many of you thought that in your lifetime you would ever see a black Presidential candiadte representing one of the two major parties? Does Obama's candidacy represent progress?
To all the first time voters, black, white or otherwise I say: welcome to the club. The club of American citizens who are participating in our democracy. Women, who only received the right to vote in 1920, (after black men, by the way) now are a crucial voters' block, vigorously courted by both candidates. Who would have thought. But you can only become a crucial voters block, if you VOTE. And if you lose, as I have in every election of my life except the Clinton era, you vote again the next time. That's all.
I CAN SAY IT WOULD HURT MORESO THAN WHEN JOHN KERRY LOST, BUT HONESTLY I AM SO FOCUSED ON WINNING I CAN'T THINK ABOUT LOSING AND FOR THOSE WHO MAY HAVE SOME CONCERNS THEY SHOULD DO EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO DONATE, VOLUNTEER, REGISTER AND SHOW UP TO VOTE ON NOVEMBER 4TH AND ENCOURAGE EVERYONE THEY COME IN CONTACT WITH TO DO THE SAME!
Oh man, here we go. Dredging up the the black issue. Fact is, Obama is an AMERICAN, who just so happens to be a person of color. And that is the way, I believe, he would like to be viewed. Of course, we all know his father was Kenyan. But, racially speaking, that doesn't automatically make Obama a "brother". Don't place that wieght on his shoulder's. You can't and shouldn't pigeonhole him into the role of Great Black Hope. It's not realistic. Since his real job is to represent Americans without bias towards any single group, you'll likely set yourself up for disappointment. It wouldn't be fair to him to think otherwise. In addition, and most importantly, the more attention given to his "blackness", the more this race will be made about race. And THAT my friends could very well cost him the Presidency. So do yourself a favor. Vote with your minds, not your eyes. Listen to what he says, not the way he looks.
This American is voting Obama.
Your comments, stripped of the politically correct crap ("person of color"? Give me a break!) are a rehash of many others in this topic, and frankly, I really can't decide if people like you are stupid or dangerously naive. The moment Barack Obama announced his candidacy, race became THE issue in America, and after reading many of the comments here, the one and only thing that is blindingly obvious is that America is still not ready to have a serious, thoughtful discussion about THE issue! Forget Iraq... forget the bailout... let's all sit around and whine about skin color.
Definition: Prejudice
1. opinion formed beforehand: a preformed opinion, usually an unfavorable one, based on insufficient knowledge, irrational feelings, or inaccurate stereotypes
2. holding of ill-informed opinions: the holding of preformed opinions based on insufficient knowledge, irrational feelings, or inaccurate stereotypes
3. irrational dislike of somebody: an unfounded hatred, fear, or mistrust of a person or group, especially one of a particular religion, ethnicity, nationality, sexual preference, or social status
Trust me, blacks aren't the only ones who will be disappointed if Obama loses. But that isn't going the happen. I really think this will be a landmark, landslide election and the right isn't going to know what his them.
I am a 64 year old white married male and i will vote for Obama! He is a man who cares and a man of intelligence. What more could anyone ask for in this day and age? If he does not win this person fears for this countries furture!
Yeah, I'm white and go to an *elite* college in the east, and I'm AFRAID of Obama losing because:
-The Conservatives have had their shot-and it's been a long one- and our country is a *historic* disaster right now. They basically stole one election from Gore, mired our country into a winless war, left people in hurricane Katrina out to dry (and bailed out wallstreet before the water got too deep?) and ran our economy into the ground...all for the sake of greed and power-mongering. How any middle class person can vote republican mystifies me at this point.
-I've worked/interned on Capitol Hill... You have *no idea* how bad and corrupt it really is, and how uninformed about the REAL issues you actually are. It's like the matrix or something...Seriously.
-The Liberal/Democratic voice has been silenced and ignored in this counrty for far too long. If Obama isn't elected, I fear riots from THAT more than anything else. There will be a WHOLE LOT of people who will feel as if their voice ins't being heard and have become disenfranchised from the country and political process...as they watch the Conservatives run our country off into the ditch. ..
I Damn well might riot too if another Republican gets elected...For real!
See everyone, education rids bigotry and racism! You too could learn from Mickey. Sounds like you've done your homework in choosing the most obvious right candidate, Obama!
I'm an educated white-middle to now lower class- citizen and I may riot if anyone but Obama gets in.
I don't plan on it, but I'm ready!
African Americans aren't the only ones afraid Obama might lose. I am scared that John McCain and Sarah Palin might actually win - they would be tragic for this country. I am white, and I believe Senator Obama is the only hope we have to move forward as a nation. On my knees I am begging for everyone to vote, and to vote for Barack Obama.
