What If Obama Loses?

i, too, am fearful of an Obama loss. Not for any protesting or other public demonstrations that may happen, but for what will happen to this country. When I look at Obama I don't see a black man. I see hope. I see the hope for this country that has been missing for the past 8 years. I see the hope that was perpetuated by the Clinton years, but with an added bonus: a man who true to his marital vows. I see a man who can lead by example. I see a man who sees the good in America and Americans, not just what he can steal from the poor and give to the rich. I see a man who truly wants to change the way Washington works. A man of honesty and integrity. Make no doubt about it. He will have to fight his own party as well as the Republicans. There are too many elected officials who are accustomed to and comfortable with the status quo. They don't see anything wrong with taking huge buckets of money to influence legislation that may be bad for most Americans. That's just business as usual for them. His hands will be tied to a certain extent. But what I believe in is that his hands are in his own pockets, not in the pocket of every Washington lobbyist. This is an honest man. Is our country ready for that? Is Washington ready for that?

So, don't be naive, people. If he is not able to deliver all that he promises it will be because BOTH parties (And I am a proud dyed-in-the-wool Democrat) are bucking him to keep their election coffers full and to get their accustomed perks from their lobbyist buddies. But, do not lose sight of the fact that he IS trying, he WILL do his best to be a proponent of the American people of all colors and that he is a man of honor.

I am a 54 year old white female in case you're wondering and I volunteer for this next best hope for our country.

The real gang members operate under positions of authority and use their power to control and destroy and get away with it. Take a look at the financial crisis those people at the top are gang members, terrorists. When will they be in prison? Real gang members live out in the street not hiding their lies and decption and effect afew people. The secret gang members are whtie collar gang members who hide all their deeds and use other people as escape goats. That is why people are lazy no matterif white or black because of the rich that control and destroy all in the name of God. They are the biggest cowards hiding in their big offices. If you have eyes and ears and really look at how things operate it is not that hard how to understand things. It is called secret oppression not open oppression like in other countries. McCain and Palin are absolute deceptiion and oppressors. Obama/Biden are the absolute hope for this country that has been run for the last 8 years by oppression, lies and utter deception.

All the scare tactics have been brought out to scare people into an empty vote (John McCain). They will raise your taxes. He's the rub! John McCain wants to remain in Iraq. We are currently funding 10 billion per month for Iraq. Thus, 10 billion x 6 more years years in Iraq will amount to 720 billion dollars. Compare that to the 700 billion dollars being requested for the Wall Street bailout. Where is the outrage in that? Add Fannie Mae and other supplemental (non-budget) requests and bail outs. WE ARE ALREADY ON THE TAX HOOK!

This article is unbelievably racist! So if Obama looses is because he's black?? This candidate with the thinnest resume in the last 100 years is suppose to win or else its because white people are racist? People need to pull their heads out of their asses and realize there is ALOT more than skin color that should be considered when voting for President!

It amazes me that people just make the assumption that African Americans are voting for Barack Obama because he is African American. Most African Americans vote for the candidate from the Democratic Party. This voting pattern has been consistent throughout history because African Americans have most closely identified with the party???s ideas. In many instances, African Americans and white people have blindly voted for the Democratic candidates because of those ideas regardless if the candidate is black or white so it is understandable for them to vote for Barack Obama. The question that now stands is why white democrats say they will rather vote for John McCain whose ideas are in totally conflict with those of the Democratic Party. When thinking about voting for John McCain, Sarah Palin should give anyone pause. I know more about foreign policy than she does and I work in education.

For the person who said that Barack Obama did not pass one law in Illinois, it takes more than one person to pass a bill.

Racism if he loses? People who think like that need to be properly educated. The race card is tattered, discolored and worthless. It no longer reacts with credibility and is now ridiculed. The quiet laughter in the background when someone screams "rascism" is more about chuckling over the persons ignorance rather than the argument itself.

Imagine a White American College Fund, or a group policy to Empower Whites, or even a doctrine that gives preferences to Whites over blacks! Whis is what exists today. The anger goes both ways. I want Obama to win but I cannot tolerate the race-card mentality of he loses. All who support that idea is themselves rascist.

Our 12 year old son is black. We adopted him when he was 4 years old. He too wants Obama to win. Not because he is black but because he offeres change and hope. If he chose him for the color of his skin it would be rascist.

Most blacks cannot define rascism becasue they were raised to not like whites simply over thier skin color....sound familiar? Educate your children. Love them for who they are and teach them to love others the same way. Anthing else is simply disgusting ignorance that resumes the hatred and the cycle of a divided people.

If Obama had picked Hillary for his running mate he'd wiin for sure. I'm not against a black man but to suggest riots might break out if he doen't win is demeaning to the black people. Women have been beaten raped, jailed,for their rights but did we riot when Hillary didn't win.or for that matter when Gore didn't win because of Florida's cheating. To suggest Obama not winning would result in riots is demening to the black people. Should McCain and Hillary supporters riiot if he doesn;'t win. The whole thing is ridiculius.. Regarding racisim and Obama lossing the election, It would fall back on the Democrats who didn't vote for him, as any good Republican wouldn't vote for a Democrat no matter what his or her color.

First stop talking about protest. Second start thinking of yourselves as AMERICANS, not just afro americans, you are AMERICANS of african descent.Third get involved help make things happen, don't wait on some one else to get out and do it. My husband and I live in Az. and we're going to New Mexico to register voters for OBAMA and what ever else we can do to get him elected. Yes there are still ignorant racist in our country, I say

This article is horrible - why does Newsweek keep playing the race card when the rest of the country is trying so hard to move past it -- does flaming the fans of racism do anyone any good? The editors and writers should be ashamed of themselves -- let's talk issues - not race. This article makes me never want to buy an issue or Newsweek again. The media has it's share of guilt to share in the issues of this country - this sensationalist approach by Newsweek is a great example of that. Irresponsible journalism - try to bring out the best thinking in people - not the worst. Depicting black people as gangsters, excons, etc. and then associating ONLY that crowd with any candidate is unacceptable. I grew up in NYC and saw plenty of gangsters, drug dealers and convicts who were white -- should there be an article on who they are voting for and why? Shame on Newsweek - when I head to work tomorrow, to the gym, talk to my neighbors and my children, one of whom is of voting age - I will be sure to express my disgust in Newsweek - and never buy an article again - let's keep the race issue OUT of the minds of people - not plant the seeds for more of it!

The old style TVs from the Rodney King Riots will no longer work come February 2009. If O J is convicted, we can have a good riot and if you don't get that new digital TV then, maybe Obama will loose and we can have an Obama riot.

I truly believe that Senator Barack Obama will. win. He will win the popular vote as well as the electorial college vote. He is a novice politician, with vision, vigor and intelligence. On the other hand, Senator John McCain, is out of touch, eratic, and not visionary. Mr MCCain is not a true Republican. His original choice of Leberman for VP deonstrates his hatred for Republicans. Sarah Palin is a dangerous and extremely poor choice for a VP running mate.. McCain's health is questionable. The stress of the presidency would surely kill him in office, leaving Gov Palin to lead the world. Further a US President of color will only bolster our credibility with the world's nations mostly ruled by persons of color.

Why are you not writing about why all women should riot if Palin is not elected? When did all African Americans become members of the collective without the ability to think independently? You are simply spewing bigotry with a twist and I am calling you on it. You expect people of color to act like animals because an election didnt go the way we wanted it to? Look at the numbers for the current President and African Americans. Should all mixed people riot too? How about white women with mixed offspring? The days of putting all of us in a box and labeling us one thing are over lady. Welcome to the new world order, where a person can be judged by his actions and not just his skin tone. If Sen Obama loses, he loses. Did you expect white women to riot when Sen Clinton lost? Were you disappointed that they didnt?
