Cain has adopted Muslim relatives in his family. Does that matter?

For the first time in history, America has a Black presidential candidate that is half white (American), half black (African), is genetically related to six former presidents, one civil war General, and even the Vice President. If Jesus was to come in the form of a black man, many white Americans would reject him as well! Even sadder, are the numbers of blacks and whites who somehow feel all that our welfare (the country as a whole) will be better in the hands of a white President. LOOK AT THE COUNTRY, BANKS, THE WORLD ECONOMY, ETC. The country, the banks, and Wall Street are all in the hands of white men! For once, let's pick a qualified President!

Last, If your life depended on receiving brain surgery, would you pick the surgeon that graduated 5th (894 out of 899) from the bottom of his class and his assistant with a 2.0 GPA baccalaureate degree (after six years of work & five colleges). Or, would you consider the surgeon that graduated magna cume laude? IT'S YOUR BRAIN, THE CHOICE IS YOUR'S!

    Team A

    Obama (GPA 4.33)

Juris Doctor degree (Magna *** Laude)
Taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School.

    Biden (GPA 3.67)

University of Delaware ??? B.A History/B.A. in Political Science (Double Major)
Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.)

    Team B

    McCain (GPA 3.0)

U.S. Naval Academy - B.S. (Graduated 5th from the bottom of his class)

How do book smarts prepare someone to be president? I am a firm believer that until you practice brain surgery on a cadaver A LOT you're still not experienced at all to perform brain surgery on a live person. I don't care what your GPA is. If you can show me successful procedures, and you got a 2.7 in med school, I'll pick you over someone who read a lot of books on brain surgery and got a 4.0 in med school with no experience. You can't say because one person has a "better" degree than the kid who didn't try hard in school that they are more qualified.

I recently visited the Newseum in Wash., DC, and relived the 9/11 NY terrorist attack through actual footage of that fateful day. You can't watch this film and not come away feeling horror and anger. Every American felt the effects of this attack on our country....and every one of us came together afterwards in sorrow and healing. It still angers me how we went after the wrong people who did this, starting unnecessary wars along the way and letting already rich greedy people run wild blinding us with lies. We were kept on high alert and too deep in a bad war that had no exit plan, while the politics that got us there continued with our blessings. Now we???re faced with the same dilemma but have new crises before us???the economy. The same people we trusted to lead this country, but who in fact just made us look the other way with lies, are again asking us to trust their leadership using the same tired rhetoric. Experience, they tell us, is the key to resolving all of this county???s ills???but isn???t this the same political experience that directly got us in these crises in the first place. We can't afford to continue to be blind and dumb and let those who do not really have our best interests at heart do as they please in running this country. The problems we are facing in this country affects every one...it not about race, gender or anything else. We Americans need to open our eyes and help get the crises under controlled and resolved by making sure the right person is in position to lead us. We don't need more of the same ideals that got us in this mess....we don't need Bush or McCain and more lies.

The only good negro is a negro going back to Africa! Go back to Kenya, Mr. Hussein Obama, & help your family. Run for City Council in Nairobi . . . Your Afro-Marxist backed policies & Black Liberation Theology is NOT wanted in America.

What a bad way to think of your self...low-self esteem that you want to leave this great country of ours.

GET A LIFE!!!! I sure hope you aren't registered to vote. This election doesn't need idiots voting for the wrong person just because they don't like the color or someone's skin.

    • Posted By: RyanO1976 @ 09/28/2008 11:15:42 AM

This is a clear example of idiocy on display. Why don't you go back to Europe and run for city council of Berlin? You racist, white-trash, backwater Nazi. I suppose you have a swastika on display in your home and say "Heil Hitler" every morning.

I see in the article that convicted criminals will vote ????? If they are Felons they have lost the Right to vote !

    • Posted By: RyanO1976 @ 09/28/2008 11:58:04 AM

It depends on the state. Some states bar them for life, some only while they serving their sentences. For instance in my home state of Texas, once a convict has completed his/her jail sentence, parole, probation, and court supervised release then that person regains the right to vote.

  • Posted By: navia @ 09/28/2008 11:58:01 AM

Newsweek should talk more about the fact that, although black people have voted for white presidential candidates since-f o r e v e r-, there are white Americans who are still racists and cannot bring themselves to vote for a black man, even if it means they will leave their beloved party of democrats. It's obscene!

  • Posted By: blessed2 @ 09/28/2008 11:57:51 AM

Have we angerly protested in the past because our candidates lost?...NO! We stand with our heads high and figure out how to work within the system. Of course i will be upset if my candidate loses, but not because he is black. I will be upset if Barack Obama loses because he is THE BEST PERSON for the job. He is who we need at this time to inspire us to greatness...all of us, including white, brown, red, black. He is who we need to bridge the gaps that exist between black, brown and white, between the haves and the have nots, between the "red" and "blue" states. We need a UNITED STATES of AMERICA and Obama is best equipped to lead us there.

  • Posted By: scopinions @ 09/28/2008 11:57:31 AM

Instead of planning to attend ralleys and protest in case he doesn't win, how about planning how you are going to get to a voting station on election day? We black people can ralley and organize things like the million man march when we want to, yet during the primaries Barack lost a district in Texas because he had a smaller black turnout than John Kerry did in 2004! So, stop planning protests and how you're going to "demand justice" and make sure you are registered and know how and when to vote!!!!!

  • Posted By: VoteRight @ 09/28/2008 11:57:28 AM

I think that voting on the basis of race is not right. Also, there seems to be a system of threats if he loses. What is this? Is this what Obama wants? If not, why does he not speak out about it. Of course, there was the campaign ads in the southwest about Hispanics should vote Obama because McCain thinks like Rush Limbaugh. Also, we see in this article about ex-cons and the likes voting because he is black? Are we looking at a society that wants law and order to run rampant? It shows in this article also that if Obama loses it is shady and stolen. Is this proposing that there be riots and chaos if the election does not go his way? Think people.

  • Posted By: nelson111 @ 09/27/2008 3:25:55 PM

After reading this...I can't believe anyone in the African-American community has the nerve to call anyone else racist. Did you ever think someone may not like Obama's POLICIES? His inexperience? Who cares about his race? Oh wait...the Black community does. Physician heal thyself.

    Physician heal thyself!

    • Posted By: realist1211 @ 09/28/2008 9:42:08 AM

Why is it that 97% of the black population will vote for Obama just because his BLACK. I have asked many young blacks where does Obama stands on many issues, they have no idea, what is Obamas full name or first name or were was he born, they have no idea, they are voting solely because he is black and that is the truth. Face it isn't this racist? If all the whites were to vote MaCain then all hell would brake loose because blacks would say that whites are racist. Once again DOUBLE STANDARD. Telling and scaring people just so they could vote for a black candidate that only in 2 years in the Senate has been corrupted with big payoffs is not the right path for this country

      • Posted By: TheVigil @ 09/28/2008 11:57:24 AM

After 400 years of slavery, repression of their civil rights, institutionalized racism that's far worse than what you're talking about that still exists today (look at people like Bill O' Reilly), and beatings and lynchings by white supremacist organizations, with no hope of a black president, I might hope that you understand why the black community is quite eager to vote for a black man now that the chance has come along.

      • Posted By: MorganX @ 09/28/2008 10:42:32 AM

Let me guess, you have many young black friends right? You're a liar just like McSame. I don't know John or Sarah's middle name? I don't know where Sarah stands because she's so ridiculous you can't take what she says seriously and John lie so much, know one even knows who the hell he is.

        • Posted By: jackie 1 @ 09/28/2008 10:53:08 AM

Morgan X - You sound like an unimformed idiot - you can be any color for that - bet you have a lot of white friends too - or do not claim them unless they can do something for you, agree with you. You remind me of the true racism of any color that I grew up with in the 60's. Your next response will be even more "colorful"
most likely. Go back to dream land where you came from.

          • Posted By: MorganX @ 09/28/2008 11:48:12 AM

Did you have a point to make, or did you intend to ramble on about nothing? If you have a point, make it. Or are you another person who has gone out and asked many young blacks if they're voting for Obama because he's black. Let's see some demographics. How many, what age, occupation. The beauty of the Internet is that idiots can just make stuff up, then ramble on about nothing when called on it.

Do you realize you actually said a bunch of nothing? What's your point? What are you agreeing or disagreeing with?

WHO CARES ABOUT RACE? FOX NEWS AND MANY REPUBLICANS WHO SAID THE FOLLOWING -TERRORIST FIST BUMP, TIGER WOODS, BOY, CURIOUS GEORGE THE MONKEY...........ETC

  • Posted By: adeleinoh @ 09/28/2008 10:29:18 AM

Race should have absolutely nothing to do with this election. Which candidate is the best person to take this country forward should be the only concern. I remember very well the Kennedy - Nixon election. There was a great deal made of Kennedy being Catholic, and those who hated Catholics made that the basis of their vote. As a 63 year old white woman I do see age being a factor. McCain comes across to me as being an old, grumpy; know- it - all, egomaniac who can't get along with anyone. His sneering, smirking, condescending, won???t look you in the eye and talk to you directly, and put you down at every opportunity attitude, spoke volumes to me in the debate. Frankly, I am getting sick and tired of him pulling the war hero card. There have been thousands of prisoners of war. An uncle of mine was captured at the Battle of the Bulge and put in a German prisoner camp with no food and everyday they took one soldier out and shot him. When he came home, he would never talk about the war unless he was drunk. With our low standing in the world, and need for more diplomacy, the thought of having McCain leading this country scares me to death. He is the bully on the play ground who gets angry if things don???t go his way. His attitude is do it my way or I will take my ball and go home, and I will make your life a living hell for crossing me. We have had one bully in office for 8 years who thinks that he has all the answers and we don???t need another. As far as McCain being an honorable man, that is a joke. His threw away his first wife and 3 kids when he came back from Hanoi, and had an affair with his current wife while he was still married. His current wife was and is rich and had political connections. He used this to advance is political career as he is using Sarah Palin. If they are elected, you don???t really think that she will be more than a skirt in the office to bring him coffee and donuts.
Obama has to be elected, or this country will never recover and end up being third world, run by Russia and China.

    • Posted By: DontBeASheep @ 09/28/2008 10:48:52 AM

You state that McCain can't get along with anyone, yet he, not Obama, has reached across the aisle and worked with the other party. You say he pulls out his POW status and waves it around whenever politically expedient - did you forget he is the Republican that spoke out against torture and Guantanimo Bay. McCAin's experience as a POW gives him a very unique perspective of the ugliness of war, the ugliness and barbarism of one man torturing another. He is not going to put American serviceman at risk just to get his way as you suggest. One last thing, back to the article, there are those that believe that it is obvious that Obama is the obvious choice as president. Just remember there are also a like number that believe that McCain is the obvious choice and its not about race. Its about conservative values vs. liberal values. That's the great thing about this country, people don't have to think alike, and that is a great thing indeed.

      • Posted By: LilBella @ 09/28/2008 11:57:18 AM

You do realize that even the Veterans of Foreign Wars (and, yes that includes Iraq) do NOT want McCain in the White House, right? By 80%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Posted By: okie3 @ 09/28/2008 11:52:31 AM

So what I'm reading here, you bigots had rather plunge us into a depression that vote for a black?

    • Posted By: tcnw @ 09/28/2008 11:57:14 AM

Both candidates need to proof themselves and their ability before I decide. You are making judgement too early.

  • Posted By: docj527 @ 09/28/2008 11:56:44 AM

White people are talking about blacks just voting for the color of the skin. Very funny when they never voted for white people. If Obama was a republican he wouldn't get the black vote. Strange woman will be voting for a woman just because she is a woman. And let's not forget that half of the Hispanics have black blood in them yet they are considered not black. That is politics and racism plain and simple. If Obama losses it would not be so bad. He would not be to blame for all the mistakes made in America the last 450 years. One thing is for certain we won't have to hear about black this and black that, the next election. there will be just two white people running and will be back to blacks don't matter and racism doesn't exist.

  • Posted By: alkinsjr @ 09/28/2008 11:41:01 AM

I agree with Derek Weimer's comments. I am a 48 year old "white man". My wife and I were ready to get behind Hillary Clinton until Barrack Obama declared his intent to run for President. He represents a real change for America - all races, religions and sexes. The day Mr. Obama declared we signed up for his campain website and have been campaining for him ever since. It upsets me that African-Americans automatically think that all "white people" would be against an African-American President. Race doesn't or gender doesn't matter - I will vote for the person that I think will make the best President - and that happens to be Barrack Obama!!

    • Posted By: AzanaTigri @ 09/28/2008 11:56:43 AM

All African-Americans don't think that way. Nobody called me and asked my opinion. I don't think we can ever read an article or hear a newsbite an think what's being said is representative of all.

  • Posted By: rogers606 @ 09/28/2008 11:56:36 AM

Being a 37 year old black man, it is very encouraging to potentially having a black man as President of The United States. I was raised to see people as people, but there are others out there that hate one another, because of the color of ones skin. I feel that if Obama is elected President it will potentially allow the older white population see that blacks have evolved and that we are as educated as they are. The new generation I feel love one another and can live together as evidence by the increase in inter-racial marriages. My biggest fear is for Obama's safety once he is elected President. I know everyone has flaws, but Obama seems to be a great role model to the younger generation. He will be a great leader for this country!

I'm still trying to figure out how an arab father and white mother can produce a black son... obviously Obama is getting a massive amount of support for being black alone, which he isn't. Yes, his father was from Africa, but was an Arab (do some research), how nieve are people?- his name is Barack Hussein Obama - those are Arab names, not African. It doesn't matter to me what race he is or even if he's purple, but I don't think it's right to get support for something that isn't true about yourself.

Americans, beware. Are you really thinking of electing a do nothing Obama
will give you a bright future?

All These happened during Obama's senator year in Illinois.

In Chicago Tribune, Saturday July 7-26-2008, there

is article titled " Illinois is 43rd in black male graduates".

"fewer than half black male students across the

country are graduating from high school, and the number

is even lower in Illinois and Chicago, according to national

study. ......graduation rates from the 2005-06 school year

and found that Illinois ranked 43rd out 50 states for the

number of black male students gradating that year. In the

city that year, only 37% of the `102,185 black students

    graduated...... ".

In Chicago Tribune 12-16-07, there is special report

about Illinois' poor: "Our Hidden Poor". There are about

1.5 million people in Illinois--- 12 % of the the state

population live below the poverty line.

Sen. Obama was a community organizer in a tiny black community
for 20 years in south of Chicago before he was elected as senator. I would
    like

you to ask him what he did to increase black male high

school graduation rate and decrease the poverty during

his Illinois senator year? How can American people trust

him when he did not change anything in his community

That's great Snoop Dog, just what we need. Get all the gang members, ex-cons and everyone else you can to go vote for your boy. And you think he might LOSE due to racism?, what do you call this? I fear a terrorist strike in the states within 2 years if Obama wins because he is clueless on security. But that's ok, he'll sit down and talk with the bad guys' leaders to try to prevent another. Set limits on all house and Senate people too so we can get jokers like Biden, Kennedy and the crew out of Washington!

I was unsure of who I was going to vote for until I saw the Presidential debate on Friday night. I was very impressed with Barack Obama and I was disgusted with John Mccain. Barack Obama seemed much more professional and articulate and able to respond to questions with sensible and thought out answers. John Mccain always seemed to be going for the personal attacks and tried concentrate on Obama's lack of experience and pork barrel spending. Obama seemed to offer solutions and Mccain seemed to just offer mostly criticism of Obama. I will be voting for Obama because he is the better of the two candidates and offers better solutions to Americans problems.

  • Posted By: smharley @ 09/28/2008 11:06:17 AM

Why dont blacks stop blamming white people for their problems. Maybe if they would look to their own kind and tell them to start behaving civilized then maybe they could have more credibility. What do blacks want? Everyone is equal in this country. We all have the same opportunities, you just have to get off your lazy ass and pursue them. Nothing is free. Success comes through hard work. To all those that say they will riot if Obama loses my response would be "Bring it on!".

    • Posted By: emoryiasiah @ 09/28/2008 11:55:30 AM

Please, as an Black American, I do not blame White America for all my miss-opportunities but in the past that is how it used to be; Discrimination alive and well. I have made my way through the grace of GOD and yes with the right people in my life; some white, some black and other races. As Americans we must do a better job at lifting ourselves up and walking with pride. We need to teach our children that they can achieve if they really try. Now, I do not want to pretent, there are races that hate one another and will do their best to belittle one another. That has gone on for years and years but I am teaching my childiren to watch out for the stumbling blocks and use every tool in the knowldge toolbox to build the best life for themselves inspite and despites those who oppose them. So back to your point, yes a Black Americans we need to examine our selves, determine where we want to be and then go there. The same applies to all races, white, hispanic, latino, greek, anbd so on.
