What If Obama Loses?

I find it interesting that with "98%" of blacks allegedly planning to vote for Obama, that the discussion is the alleged (white) "racism" that might "cost" HIM the election (as if it was HIS to lose). How is it that blacks can overwhelmingly support a black candidate it questions of THEIR racism are not raised?

We may have a holiday honoring MLK, but in my view we have never been farther from "the day when a man is judged by the content of his character than by the color of his skin." In fact, we've perverted that notion with (perhaps well meaning) reverse racism. The tail is certainly wagging the dog in the USA. This does not bode well for the republic...

When you wrote about racism being a factor...were you speaking of the racism demonstrated by those interviewed? It seems that you seem to think that the only people who can be racist are "whites" (I prefer "Anglo-American"...no, maybe "some shade of tan"...no, no...never mind!)...I vote, not on the color of the skin, which is THE MOST IGNORANT FORM OF VOTING I can think of, but according to how the candidate and the candidate's party platform match my values. Barack Obama is as far from those that I can think of. You want a black person in the White House? Put someone in as a candidate who has MUCH MORE experience and MUCH MORE integrity thatn Obama. Colin Powell? Condaleeza Rice? Hmmmm?...

I wish we could focus on the issues, not the color of our skin. If Condoleeza Rice were running or Colin Powell (if skin color mattered) they would have my vote. I won't vote for Obama, because of the issues he supports... not because of the color of his skin.

I was afraid this would happen - that the Democratic primary created a no-win situation for American in this election. If Hillary Cinton were the nominee and lost the election, there would be a call to address gender inequality. Now, if Obama loses, it will all be about race. Why doesn't it ever occur to anyone who loses that maybe that majority of Americans didn't think it was all that "clear" that their guy (excuse the sexist term) was the right person for the job? I don't want a president in the middle of a financial and a foreign policy crisis to be some guy who's almost never sponsored legislation, who's never been in charge of anything, and whose entire life has been devoted to getting ready to run for president. I can't fathom why anyone is considering voting for Obama, and I definitely resent this idea that if he loses, it will be because of race. If he loses, it will be because he wasn't qualified and because the plans he has managed to articulate are too expensive for the American taxpayer to bear.

Vote for Obama because he is black! OH MY GOD! What kind of rationale is that??? I am not voting for McCain because he is white. I am voting for him because he is concerned about all Americans not just one class of people over another. I is very frustrating that people who have not participated in the political process in any way for years are now suddenly interested...Where is the racism here??? It certainly is not on my part.
I considered Hillary and may have voted for her. She has more integrity than Obama. Obama lies, changes positions, hides the truth and is currently censoring ads in OH / PA. Censorship! Don't you see where this is going. The black community is being manipulated and abused by a system that wants them to be further reliant on the government. Apparently that's ok as long as the person doing it is black.

I have just read the last two comments from mcarrots and ajs1950 and all I can say is, your views are exactly why black people feel like there is no hope and injustice will prevail. Did you ever think that the terrorist will relate to someone different? People, the WORLD is made up of different colors! This is about the best candidate and not color. Your attempt to create a horrible picture of mongruls running our country is insane. Why would you say that terrorist will rape our children and grandchildren? How about this America; Since the beginning of our exsistance as a nation we have been governed by ONE ethnic group, we are America, a melting pot of people with different backgrounds and history that make us more accepting than the rest of the less intergrated nations on this planet. We have had multiple confrontations during this time. Maybe someone of multiple ethnic heritage can help our image and bring the world closer to peace? No one can assure us how safe our world is but it is pretty obvious that fighting is not solving anything. Isn't that what civilized PEOPLE teach their children?

As for their being a chip on the shoulders of Black America, why shouldn't there be? Black Americans did not choose to become the products of their environments. It is what White America gave them. Poverty and dispair is not a color. Look at White America in the heartlands, there is the same uneducated mentality as in the urban ghetto's. There are baby's having babies, high school drop outs, meth labs, and more thefts of property in these areas. Poverty breeds desperation! There are more programs for the less fortunate people in Nebraska than in Detroit. Black America is now embracing it's better opportunites and sending more kids to college, but again the focus of America is the few that give the community a bad name.

I am a Multi - Racial man who takes pride in being American not Black, White, or Hispanic! Senator Obama stikes me as the SAME American! Just my opinion but I have to say: WHITE AMERICA, YOUR WAY IS NOT WORKING. FOR THE SAKE OF A BETTER GLOBAL ENVIRONMENT, GIVE SOMEONE ELSE A CHANCE AND SUPPORT CHANGE!

I concur with my white sister Sheri in the proceeding comment about electing Senator Obama. We should not sit by idly and allow the Republicans (GOP) continue to dominate the White House. I am a middle-aged, well educated, African American, Professional Woman, and I strongly believe that if we all excersize our civil duty and vote, Senator Obama will definitely Win. I am voing for him because he is qualified. The Law of average doesn't allow the Repulbicans (GOP) to constantly win. We always use unorthodox ways of sliding into the White House, but I believe that "God is in the details" this time around. They can form the weapon, but it won't prosper.. As a 24 yr old black youth Mr Obama stands for a change in the face of government. For as long as we know the face of the u.s government, With this new face the hope of change and new ways of thinking. The us government is stuck in a 80's way of thinking in which they are the big brothers on the block and all other countries must follow in their footsteps. Failure to do so is reasons for military show of force and un sanctions by countries who are tooo scared of loosing aid from the u.s to actually voice their opinions against such actions. Obama represents a more diplomatic approach to all this * talk first and try to reach a aggreament where both sides benefit and use the military as a last resort and not a bullying tool. this kind of approach might save a lot of lives all around and make the international community view the u.s not as a superpower bent on control but a superpower bent on maintaining peace throught the world. The mcain idea of strike first ask questions later is the same policy bush had and look at where that has led us the question we must ask now is this the same kind of thinking we want another 4 yrs of . Mcain beliefs this is the 60's were force is a neccesity while obama realizes that the 21 st century government needs a more liberal approach

Time and time again, the media presents biased views that privilege the 'winning potential" of Republicans over the losing likelihood of Democrats. This is irresponsible and misguided journalism. We have had enough!

I can believe the drive by media like this article would even dare to claim that the nation would cheat to make Obama loose. If anything it is quite the opposite. I work in inner city Cleveland where Obama is greatly supported. I do not support Obama's plans. Through my own research his plans would greatly hurt the foundations our country is built upon. Now in the inner city of Cleveland I have to stare in disbelief at witnessing time and time again young impressionable african americans going buisness to buisness trying to get people to register twice or more so that they can surely get Obama elected. I have yet to witness anyone doing this for McCain. They are even paying people MONEY to register under false names, dead peole, or registering thier own name in a different place. If Obama looses its because America decided that his plans were not right. If he wins....well I hope he feels good knowing he got in on a lie.

i listened to the michael b. show and i remember when obama first came about people were calling in saying obama wasnt black enough to represent the black community, that made me mad, how about repesenting the country? all people? what does the black community think obama is going to do for them? i think about what he can do for the country.

I feel very sorry for you that you missed the hole point of the election and that you only see through your racial lens. Just in case you want to know I am a Black American. Let me ask you a couple of questions? Do you have red blood flowing through your veins like black people? That response is yes, just in case you refuse to believe that. Were you born through your mother's birth canal just like a black person? The response should be yes if you cannot determine. Do you have a brain that has the capacity to learn just as many blacks to in their lives? The response should be yes, but I cannot determine based on your racial comments. When we die does not our bodies become discolored? The response should be yes, just in case you are limited by your capacity to see past race. Now for the big question of the day, do you know the origin of man? If not, you should search it out and you may find something that you do not like or believe. Have you checked your family tree to see if there were any slaves in your family because you could have black blood in your line. If there is black blood in your family line, where does that leave you? Sometimes it is better to think first then open one's mouth to show inorgance. I hope they put your message on TV and then my response to show how we each determine the world around us. Don't be mad because Senator and Mrs. Obama have done well in their lives. You can do the same with the right attitude, determination, and open view of life that we are all created equal with the opprotunities. Remember, only your thoughts determine your heights.
