So, will the election be shady and stolen if McCain loses to Obama? Just because you/we want something doesn't mean it is shady if you don't get it. In the end, nothing will really change in this country anyway..it is politics and money. Rich and powerful get richer and more powerful; the lesser fortunate continue to be lesser fortunate. Is Obama suddenly going to make every "minority" better offf, more powerful or richer? Do you see how "white" his staff is, the people behind the game? We have to work and hope, but shady and time for revolt is not called for if he doesn't win. If that were true, then all women should be revolting now since Hillary didn't win. "Defintiely shady - right?" I do not think so...

Okay, #1, the population of the US is about 300 million (including children and retirees), nowhere near that many are working. Even if you assume as many as half of those people are working, that's 150 million. If 100 million people do not have tax responsibilities because of income, that means 2/3 of working Americans earn less than $10,000 per year. This is clearly wrong, since the median income in the US is $47000 per year.
#2, you can't give tax cuts to people who don't pay taxes unless you were send out checks. But if people aren't paying taxes, the IRS won't know where to send the checks to. But sending out checks is not how a tax cut working anyway.
#3, McCain's tax plan involves additional child tax credits, and cuts for businesses, not for the majority of the tax paying population.

Don't randomly make stuff up, check your information.

If Obama loses, we are seriously considering leaving the country. We can't take even 4 yrs with a republican who is only out for big business and will leave our middle class to struggle like we all have the last 8 yrs.

Typical liberal. No wonder you guys hate the military. You despise violence, but you want someone else to do your fighting for you. Goodbye. We don't need quitters like you.

funny, we feel the same way if Obama should win. All I can say is don't the door hit you where the Good Lord Split You. When you leave the country, maybe you can find where Alec Baldwin moved to when Bush won last election. That's right, he stayed in the US.

Thank God for men like Colin Powell who see this race as more than black and white! Are we supposed to vote Obama just so some ex-gang members and addicts and felons don't get their feelings hurt? What a stupid article!

  • Posted By: theonlymagicman @ 09/28/2008 10:53:01 AM

Americangirl2008, you really have no insight into self and or kind, its been the Black Peoples problem since we have been in this country, we cant or wont suppose each other just because we're black, and why not, every other group of persons do, so why would it be ignorant, its ignorant not to suppose your own, eduation and money dont make you, in alot of cases it causes you to forget and embrace the wrong things for all the right reasons, so we think.

    • Posted By: shariss @ 09/28/2008 11:07:52 AM

to the onlymagicman. I suggest you get an iducation so you know the difference between suppose and oppose. This whole thing is disgusting and it's a reality check - it proves how ignorant half the population is....the half voting for Obama.

  • Posted By: Thinker0891 @ 09/28/2008 11:07:50 AM

Vote for Obama because he is Black! OH MY GOD! What kind of reasoning is that??? I am very discouraged to think that the only reason some people have decided to vote for the first time, or even think about politics instead of complaining about their lot in life is because a 'brother' is on the ticket. Where's the racism here? I considered Obama, Hillary, Huckabee, Biden, McCain, Romney, etc...At least I have been involved and thoughtful, I cant' say that about the people referenced in this article.

  • Posted By: hippiekat1967 @ 09/28/2008 11:05:29 AM

Every issue Obama is for, I am against. If it was the other way around I would vote for him. His color means nothing to me. He just seems to be on the wrong side of where I stand.

    • Posted By: RyanO1976 @ 09/28/2008 11:07:28 AM

If every issue he is for, you are against, then you truly are an ignorant person.

What this article fails to touch on and what the media in general refuses to acknowledge is that despite Senator Obama's race, upbringing, intellectual capability, or charisma he is just too liberal for a lot of Americans. I'm tired of being told that the only reason I wouldn't vote for Obama is because he's black. What I have heard over and over throughout this election is which way the black vote is going to go. Why is it accepted that African Americans will vote based on race and that is not seen as racism? I just don't see how it is logical for the people featured in the article to say they are going to riot or protest if Obama doesn't win. African Americans are one of the many diverse minorities that make up this melting pot of America and even if every single African American voted the fact is he may still not win. The American people should not be forced to like a candidate out of guilt or fear of violent retaliation if he does not win. No one should be handed the presidency just because they are of a certain ethnicity or background. It is a competition of sorts and we ALL get to cast our vote for the victor.

I get the sense that there is substantial pain to some when reminded that the United States was and IS a racist country and it isn't just against African Americans. Barack Obama's race in this important election inspired interest out of diverse groups that may not exercise their right to participate and make a difference in this election. That is a significant landmark and I can only hope that these newly interested citizens don't take a loss as defeat but as motivation to come out harder and more organized on important issues. Barack Obama is ready to lead and successfully change this country's course. He just needs every single one of his public supporters to prove it.

I'm a white female and I'm basing my vote on what's best for this country, not race, and I'm voting for Obama. As for the race thing, if we "all" had our DNA looked into and studied, you would find that inspite the color of your skin, you will have a mixture of race you don't even know about. A study of that was done and was published. So, I would not be the first to cast that stone....What do you know about your ancestory??

    Great Article !!!!
Polls, if you can trust them, report that 95% of the AA community supports Obama. So the question is............How will the AA community feel if their candidate does not win ?? Disappointed, disenchanted, angry, etc., etc. This is a reality. Will some people believe that the whole thing was rigged. Sure. Will this sentiment be limited to those supporters who are AA and have voted based upon skin color. No. Will some AAs feel that it is a continuation of our nation's prejudicial treatment and ongoing racism. Absolutely. Will the AA community pull together if McCain wins and just say........."Oh Well". Probably not, and there will be alot of other Obama supporters that will be dis-enfranchised. Was Obama selected by the Liberal power brokers because he was the best of the best to break the glass ceiling or was it to prevent the other glass ceiling breaker from getting there first ? Imagine that. Hard to imagine that the Dems and/or the Republicans have inner strife within their own parties. Not really. This is a historical candidacy that has opened up racial tensions in this country that have not been this prevalent since the 60s. Which doesn't necessarily mean that they ever went away, it's just that alot of Americans & of course our honorable media choose not to talk about or recognize them. Wasn't polite. So win, loose (forget draw).........people will be PO'ed., but it's about time that we took a good hard look at one of the things that still seperates us. Best we can hope for as Americans is that whichever team is selected "by the people" that our country is lead back to financial security, peace and being once again a properous nation that has the ability to influence the world around us. The best that we can do as "the people" is to vote and come together following the election as "the people" by being lawful and continuing to support our families, our communities and our leadership in the journey ahead of us all. Our responsibility as adult Americans also extends itself to continuing to be actively involved as voters and demanding that our elected officials lead our country in a manner that fullfills the promises for our children and the generations to come. The foundations of this country do not include equality for all as it relates to lifestyle, jobs and income levels.
We cannot hold our government accountable for this, nor can we depend upon it to create it for us. Those types of promises belong to the "old" and the possibly "new" Soviet Union. Hopefully the passion that supporters are feeling today will lend itself to resolving things that still divide us and bringing us to a new era in which we will be stronger then than we are today. Hate to think of living through another 911 to make that happen.
    God Bless America !!!

I'm embarrassed for the human race after reading this message board. All this negativity and complaining about having to help other people. It's so selfish and ugly. When did it become wrong to help each other out or to lend someone that is struggling a hand? We're all in this together people-no man is an island. If we don't help pull others up we'll all eventually be pulled under. I hope someday that we get beyond all this ignorant racism and selfishness. I think that Obama is a sign that we are moving that way, but from the sound of this message board there is still A LOT of work to do. Use your heads people and get beyond yourselves! Stop all this hate, jealousy, and negativity!

Being a white male, I was undecided until I watched the debate, now I feel that Obama is more inline with my thinking, he has my vote. It is a shame that so many people will cast a vote based on something so superficial as the color of a mans skin. Educate yourselves to the ISSUES that will make a difference, and then vote accordingly.

    • Posted By: sun*starlite @ 09/28/2008 11:06:55 AM

Wow, you have more serious issues than the election. I will pray for you buddy!

"You think white people were just going to turn over the keys to the most important job in the land without a fight?" Are you kidding me? It's comments and attitudes such as this one that will lose the election for Obama, not the fact that he is black. I find it insulting, as a "white" person, that there is this sentiment out there. I would vote for Obama if he were purple polka dotted as long as he had the intelligence, integrity, and qualifications to lead us out of the mess that the Republicans have left this country in. Give us poor white folks some credit.

No one is entitled to occupy the Oval Office bedause of their political affiliation, gender, race, or any other attribute other than the fact that a majority of voters decdided that they would rather have that candidate making the decisions that affect the entire country more than the other candidate. Regardless of who wins, they must put country above politics, gender, race, or any other self serving issue. There is too much at stake to have a president who is elected simply because they were a Democrat, or a Republican, or white, or black, or old, or young, or any other attribute besides the ability to unite all Americans for the good of not only our great country but for the world at large as well

"My kids love Obama and they think it's so obvious he should be the president," says actor D. L. Hughley. "I was just honest in saying life isn't always fair and certainly isn't always fair for African-Americans. But Obama has overcome so many obstacles, it's easy to forget reality."

How is it obvious? Sarah Palin is running for vice president and she has 100 times more experience than Barrack in dealing with running local and state governments. Obama hardly has any experience. If it was Colin Powell or even Rice, I could see Mr. Hughley's comment making sense but, Barrack Obama?
I hope he is not speaking for all black people who care about the country's future?

Black people need to start thinking for themselves and stop letting celebriities, such as D.L. Hughley, Chris Rock, Al Sharpton, etc. speak for them. They only promote racism. They are telling us to vote for someone simply because he is black and educated, not qualified.

  • Posted By: Mostly Caucasian Average American @ 09/28/2008 11:06:07 AM

Whatever. Maybe all of us mostly white folks should vote for Obama just to passify the black electorite and keep Jacon, Linda, and D.L. Highly and his kids happy...

I think that the party of America is over after 232 years. A mess has been made by the discards from Europe who then preyed upon African slaves, Asian coolies and Hispanics and natives. Today America is discredited around the world and disliked. It was always and is a racist society. The financial mess is not the fault of Wall Street but those greedy Americans who wanted to buy big homes and flip them to get rich. It is a myth that poor or middle class Americans are hard working. They are for self serving with no sense of decency but wrapped around fundamental mask of Christianity.

Solution is return the failed American colony to British. The British should come and take back their colony and start to civilise these white Americans savages who were their discards in the first place. America will prosper under the British Monarchy.
