It's funny that the Republicans and McShame like to talk about experience and history and learning from the mistakes of the past. It's a shame that McShame never learned the lesson about people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Well look at what he has thrown now. This Freddie MacCain scandal is sure to bite him back with a greater degree of political injury and voter backlash. McCain's debate showed him to lack professionalism, tack and respect. Imagine his posture in dealing with our countries real enemies. We need a leader who can control thier temper at the same time build a relationship that will move this country forward. McShame is full of BS when he says he represents change. McShames posturing during the debate is a throwback to the cold war ear. This is not what America needs in right now.
When McShame says Obama just doesn't get it, what he is really saying is that millions of Americans who support Obamas positions and ideas just don't get it and this smacks of great insult to millions of free thinking Americans. It's time McShame stop calling himself the maverick and start refering to himself as what he really is, the great divider.

remember few yrs back when you were being saturated with 'credit card applications', some 'pre-approved'?
you couldn't shred them fast enough. Many ended up with 8 or 9 cards in their wallets. Students, unemployed,
welfare, dogs were getting them. Banks were going hog wild. Yes, consumers abused them because
unqualified people were getting them. Then we had Bush get in and say 'he wanted to see every American
own their own home'....mortgage companies, etc...started their subprim lending tactics...giving (again)
unqualified borrowers mortgage loans...Yes, consumers abused them...because unqualified people
were getting them and did not know squat about credit or handling money. IF THE BANKS DID NOT
APPROVE THE CARD APPLICATIONS, PEOPLE WOULD NOT HAVE RECEIVED CARDS.
IF THE MORTGAGE/INVESTMENT COMPANIES DID NOT APPROVE THE LOANS, PEOPLE WOULD NOT
    HAVE RECEIVED MORTGAGES.
Don't forget, another 2000 upfront action Bush did, was tighten the requirements for consumer bankruptsy.
At the same time, he eased bankruptsy laws for corporations...WHY WAS THAT? It was the neocon plan by
republicans to crash the American system, and go for their long desired One World Government.
The Americn public didn't understand it, and fell like Humpty Dumpty for their bogus corrupt attack.

Isn't it true that Christopher Dodds and Barack Obama were the first and second highest paid folks that got money and benefited from Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Why isn't someone telling the truth?????

    • Posted By: JayInDallas @ 09/28/2008 12:49:46 PM

If anyone would actually bother to check, the distinction is that Obama received LESS contributions than McCain and those were from EMPLOYEES of Fannie and Freddie, not their EXECUTIVES. Want the truth? There it is.

  • Posted By: ChicoCDM @ 09/28/2008 10:38:37 AM

I noticed they have once again OMIITED Obama's lush takings from the same organizations. He is second most to benefit from these organizations next to Dodd. And he's only been there a SHORT while. And interesting overlooked fact by the left idiology that wants to tell us "IGNORE your common sense questions for the sake of political correctness."

    • Posted By: JayInDallas @ 09/28/2008 12:47:19 PM

Once again, "lush" in the form of contributions from Freddie and Fannie EMPLOYEES which is STILL CONSIDERABLY LESS Than what McSame has received from F&F EXECUTIVES. Nice try.

What BS, about why people are losing/lost their homes. It wasn't the rise in the COL, we're all dealing with that by cutting back and cutting out a lot of stuff we thought we had to have, just a few years ago. For instance, a lot of us are doing our own yard work nowadays.
It was the bad loan decisions on the part of BOTH lender and buyers, that did the deed. Lots of people in real estate to flip homes and make a bundle, trusting that home prices would continue to increase, when common sense tells the rest of us, there is always a pull-back on prices. Some home buyers made bad decisions, just like a lot of car buyers make bad decisions and have the car repo'd. Foreclosure is just another form of repo.
It isn't right to make people who are prudent and cautious about their investments and spending, pay the bill for those who aren't, and pay the bill for those who made the bad loans. That is just what we're being expected to do.

It's enough to make you say "ENOUGH!" And prefer to ready yourself for the prolonged recession or depression that will follow. And who's to say for sure, this won't also bring on a prolonged recession. All these people advising us NOW were at the wheel when all this was developing. We're supposed to trust them NOW???

Millions of folks bought homes back when gas was less than 2 bucks a gallon and the cost of groceries was alot less. The sudden rise in cost of living devasted pay checks and is the main reason for the loss of homes. Pay increases have been non-exsistant and the conservatives love to point fingers at the consumer instead of where it really belongs and thats in this White House and the Republican party trickle down theory. It didn't work under Reagan and it was exacerbated under Bush!

  • Posted By: Tex-Rem @ 09/28/2008 11:38:29 AM

Millions bought homes when gas at the pump was less than 2 bucks per gallon and the main reason most of these folks are losing their homes is the failed policies of the Bush administration and the resulting higher living expenses. Seems the conservative view is always to point fingers at the consumer and not the culprits in office that caused the problem.

    Z4T4:
You are one sick twisted person, its easy to see that you're a Republican. I too feel that all of you that want these war mongers in office should be the first ones fighting the Russians when they come barging in, because that's what voting for those two incompetent putz's is going to get us. We DO NOT need shoot first and ask questions later leadership at this point in time in America. We need careful thought and reason. Oh wait, you obviously ARE ready to put your children's life on the line, you're ready to vote for Palin.

nice try NW. yeah, mccain is at fault for the mortgage mess b/c his campaign recieved contributions.

how about exposing the fact that dems blocked legislation in 05 to tighten restrictions on lending. the pubs and greenspan warned of this exact scenario but the dems refused. they believe people of all levels of income should have access to buy a house. it was considered illegal not to allow everyone the chance. great job dems.

and while you're at it, quit trying to lay all the blame on 'wall street' and the 'greedy execs'. mortgages don't get made until the consumer signs the deal. so most of the blame lays squarely on the people who bought homes they couldn't afford and with mortgage terms that expired in 2/3 years. to make it worse, some took out loans on the increased equity. this is just blatant irresponsibility. now the whole country has to pay the price.

some of the people who created this mess are now going to get better mortgage rates/terms. meanwhile, the folks who acted responsibly, are stuck with the higher 'responsible' rates.

Eh gads, you folks are one dimensional. Ever hear of Frank Raines? How about Jim Johnson? Did THE ONE co-sponsor the FM/FM reform bill in 2005?

Are Newsweek and its bloggers a supposed independent publication or on the payroll of the Democratic party? The one thing that I will agree with you is on John McCain's long history in the US Senate, which I will claim is one of the most successful in his generation. He has been equally or more tough with Republicans on pork, earmark spending and led the Senate compromise on approval of court judges. Mr. Isikoff, I would definitely expect to see more negative association in McCain's past relative to Senator Obama, who has been in the US Senate just a few short years and voted "Present" on many bills that were of apparent no interest to him (i.e. elitism). But, I've seen no mention by the mainstream press of his association with Mr. Raines at Fannie Mae. In fact for the few years that Senator Obama has been in the spotlight, I would say there's more negatives pro-rata for him (i.e. Tony Rezco, Reverend Wright, Priest Flagler (sp)) for those years than Senator McCain's long tenure and experience.

Our economy is in such torrible and the US is in such denial. Because of the artificial house hike people are not able to afford life. For those who borrowed againest their houses so they could buy and vaction and do what ever else they wanted with that money all Americans are paying for it in now. We see price hikes everyday no matter what store we go to. Gas and food have been on a tremendous high. This in turn will have businesses shutting down because people will not be able to buy the hiked up price items, once known as luxuries. I am not sure how families are surving on $40,000 a year. Seems impossible. Credit cards do run out.
I don't think if McCain gets into office things are going to turn around. I actually think it is going to be worse. How will people survive????

The economy is so bad and the US is in such denial. Prices are rising on everything and everyone had used all their artificial homw equity money to help them buy all the stuff they wanted to date. Because of those people life has become very unaffordable. I have no clue how a family can survive off a salary of $40,000 a year.Yet the US thinks they can solve these problems.

Found this on the internet, be the judge..........
lets listen to what McCain says about becoming president???.
On page 373 of John McCain's 2002 memoir Worth the Fighting For, you'll find the following quote:
"I didn't decide to run for President to start a national crusade for the political reforms I believed in or to run a campaign as if it were some grand act of patriotism. In truth, I wanted to be President because it had become my ambition to be President. I was sixty-two years old when I made the decision and I thought it was my one shot at the prize."
^ a b McCain, John; Salter, Mark (2002). Worth the Fighting For. New York: Random House. ISBN 0-375-50542-3. p. 373.
Please please please don't vote for a man who only wants to win "the prize" of the presidency.

You all dummies that believe in the so-called republican tax break, where have you seen the tax break in the 8 years of G. Bush? The gas has tripled, the food doubles from one week to another, all insurances has increased, all services have increased, the un-employment is higher than ever, EVERYTHING I mean EVERYTHING has increased big time, where is the tax break?
Don???t you realize it is a MASS MANIPULATION TACTIC? So you believe you will be better of when in fact you are far worse. Now after 8 years they tell you again you will be better of and again you will be so much worse you will wonder yourself how stupid you have been and letting you take for a fool. The proof is in front of your eyes.

Let me ask you, if you call a company to send you a plumber to repair you sink and that company rip you off taking your money, not doing to job and not respecting the warranties they offered you, will you call same company again even if they send another plumber? Don???t think so. But let???s say you do and they do worst again. Will you call the company a THIRD time? Don???t think so either. Well if you don???t trust your sink to a company that has done a bad job and lied to you twice, how can you trust republican administration with your future, your children future after ripping you off twice?

@ HarleyisHere Yes I'm sure your correct.. In fact now that I think about it as long as you people feel your so "enslaved" by a capitalist government - Every City I go to and there's a lot in this county I go to. Where there is a Black Mayor - there???s the 5D party right there to show how Brite and clean everything looks. Who's fault is that? ITS Bush's Fault of course!.. Well Tell you what - Clearly your a bitter Black man sensing a shot at the Whitehouse and indeed you may get it...However, Obama???s Plan - Very Lame. The Math don't work. He knows it and so does everyone else (even those in that 80%) - See you don't get back on your feet giving a tax break to the "middle class" - Your sucked in pal...MIDDLE CLASS to these guys means that where all the votes are - They all use MIDDLE CLASS - Lesson #2 You flood the Market with Capital - NOT PAY for another ABORTION and you get business up and running so they can EMPLOYEE People...That puts money in your Pocket...The guess what? You spend it...That???s Capitalism. Now If you want to Help the 16 year old get her drug rehab squared away - Great I commend you but - You pay for it...I don' have any daughters. ??? See McCain???s Correct You guys Just don???t get it???

z4t4 fears his world is falling apart. Have no fear, my friend.

Despite claims, liberals don't really put people like you in concentration camps and brainwash you to be their sex slaves. Not really. And liberals are not Islamic lizard morphing jews from outer space infiltrating the media to encourage orgies with your daughter. Liberals pretty much leave you alone and hope you live your life the way you want to. So, take a bit courage there, and try trusting people a bit. You'll feel a lot better. Trust me.
