    Part 2

???Is John McCain a once in a lifetime politician???? continued

Many of my friends support Obama. I asked them "Can you show me something similar Obama has done something at a personal/political cost?" After much thinking they offered me two instances:

    1) Obama worked as a "community organizer". I don't buy this. Obama rose rapidly from "community organizer" to state legislator, to federal senator to one of the youngest nominees for President. "Community organizer" seems to have been part of this rapid ascent.

    2) Obama opposed the Iraq war. While I believe that the Iraq war was wrong, I don't think Obama's opposition carried any cost to him given that the sentiment in his liberal district was heavily against the war (unlike, say Clinton's state).

I repeat the simple question: Can you cite one example in Obama???s history that shows he is ready to bear a political/personal cost to do the right thing?

McCain is the one politician I expect to tell me the truth. He is a once in a lifetime politician, someone who can inspire by his character and courage.

I don't agree with many of his positions, but I don't expect there is any politician out there who is in perfect harmony with my views.

I believe that the economy is the most important issue facing the country. McCain has been getting a lot of flak for saying he doesn't know much about the economy. That is just further evidence about his honesty. No politician is an economics expert. Rather their job is to hire the right experts for the job. The federal deficit needs to be brought under control. When McCain says he will cut spending and curb the deficit, he is the one I believe. He will be the one who will hire the experts to get the job done.

There is a lot of money that is going to be spent of TV advertisements attacking McCain. A common refrain is "He used to be good, now he has gone bad". Of course that is what the opponents are going to say, as McCain's past is clearly good. A 72 year old man doesn't become something different from what he was for the first 71 years. He is still the same McCain.

Disillusionment with politicians is an almost permanent feature of politics. McCain represents an opportunity of a lifetime to break out of this morass of disillusionment and cynicism.

Character and courage are the rarest of politicians' virtues, and McCain is that rarity.

Honor your country, elect the man who represents character and courage.

jayjunk3 you only tell half the story. What you cite are the impressive stands McCain took that were at a political cost (though once you start doing this, people expect it so the cost is lower). And if the story ended there, I might be a McCain supporter. But what about all the times McCain caved (primarily to right wing supporters)? He initially opposed Bush's irresponsible tax cuts, now he's in favor of them. He initially stood up to Jerry Falwell and the religious right, now he courts them. How courageous was it to propose a "gas tax holiday" this summer, which was simple pandering, and would worsen the long-term problem. Likewise, his choice of Palin was a desperate political ploy. McCain caved on the immigration bill (in the face of Republican charges of "amnesty", and even opposed the bill that would force the CIA to abide by the same limitations on interrogation that the Army has to respect (so though he favors preventing the army from using torture, he's okay with the CIA doing it). McCain used to have my respect. He's sold his soul to the devil to win this election. My hope is the American people will be smart enough to see that. Obama, because he's younger doesn't have as much of a track record, but he's does have some impressive displays of courage. Being a poorly paid community organizer (after editing the Harvard Law Review) is impressive. Was he thinking of higher office at the time? Probably, most presidential candidates are by definition ambitious. And don't discount Obama's trying to stop the war in Iraq; people were very gung ho. And finally, Obama was the only major candidate who did not attempt to pander to the electorate on the gas tax holiday. I think Obama will make an impressive president.

Hard to guess from this article, what work was performed. Article relies on the vague "two sources familiar with..." kind of verbage. Then proceeds to get specific info from just one of the sources. Suspiciously sounds like they are Democratic sources, ya think?

I wonder about the Obama side of connections with Freddie & Fannie, as well as other factors in Obama's background that the eastern media aren't interested in investigating.

Why isn't NEWS week all over the Supreme Court DEBATING if the Constitution should be changed generation to generation? Imagine if all of a sudden the current "Generation" thinks its more popular that the 5th Amendment should be "reconsidered" or maybe the first amendment? Lets remove all the standards that have governed our country Why have a Standard just ask the guy down the street what he thinks..

And where are the articles about Franklin Raines, former Fannie Mae CEO and housing advisor to the OBAMA campaign, who was paid 92 million dollars, and is under federal investigation for his back dating and false filings. What about his VP selection advisor, Jim Johnson, CEO of Freddie Mac...another crook. And, what about Jamie Gorelick, former board member at Fannie Mae. Bill Daley, former board member of Fannie Mae. The fact that OBAMA got more than any other member of Congress besides Senator Dodd, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, in less than 3 years of time in the Senate. And, Eric Holder, who refused to prosecute the treasonous unauthorized release of classified information by Senator Torricelli. There is a total refusal to even look at OBAMA's utter lack of experience and naivete in public policy, his friends Bill Ayers, Michael Pfleger, Jeremiah Wright, ...All abysmal anti American race baiters.
WHERE is the due diligence on OBAMA? WHERE is the media objectivity? WHERE? SHAME on Isikoff. SHAME on Newsweek. This is the second presidential election where Newsweek has failed to tell the whole story. They refused to run a story about VP Gore's misuse of office and abuse of power in 2000. Now this. SHAME.

This is a great talking point, but unfortunately it isn't true. Obama has spoken to Raines on the telephone... twice in 2005... Rick Davies was on Freddie/Fannie payroll until AUGUST to the tune of $15k a month and he is at McCain's side 24/7.

Righties can cry media bias all you want, but it's not the media that makes the Republicians look like greedy, shady, back-room dealing rich-guys... they do it to themselves.

PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON SAYS DEMOCRATS TO BLAME FOR FANNIE MAE MELTDOWN

He told ABC News That the blame for the Fannie Mae Meltdown Lies squarely at the feet of DEMOCRATS who blocked efforts to regulate and investigate Fannie Mae. You have to admire his candor -

Just stop with the Liberal media bias BS already.
These are facts... reality... this is what happened... it doesn't matter what religion the reporter is, the color of his skin, who he voted for, what his middle name is, etc.
The facts don't change... unless you need to delude yourself.
