The maverick once again takes the low road as good enough for him. With Davis a likely member of McCains cabinet and Phil Gramm a choice for a high position in any McCain selected political system the
American people are coming to the realization they cannot afford his maverick all for one attitude. Laws in the past or now mean nothing to a maverick. He didn't care as a POW he does not care now just a maverick. Don't let him make more of your sons into Vets. He sees the financial system as solid 3 weeks ago and pushing for more deregulation he has no understandinf of our financial woes he is a billionaire why should he. Keep him out of white of house get him out of the Senate.

If the voters cannot figure it out with the last eight years that McCain is the same on the bread and butter issues then there is not hope. There is only four more years of the last eight. I think this economy is a sign from God that Obama is the right man for the job at this time in my life. McCain wants to win so bad he is misleading the country and if people pay enough attention they know what he says and what he does. Talk is cheap. He is no longer the straight talk express or maybe he never was.

  • Posted By: Tonie @ 09/30/2008 12:59:16 AM

McCain is misleading people. First of all McCain is still paying someone from Freddie and Fannie. Read Newsweek. This is old news though and I had wondered when someone was going to point it out.

Are we concerned about the issues or did someone line theier pockets? The question is who can best lead this turmoil with a plan for the American people. Instead of giving the bailout to CORPORATE AMERICA why not just give it to the American people. I think with that stimulus we could pay off all are debts and have money left over to invest in AMERICA! The lesson is HOW TO MANAGE YOUR MONEY AND SUCCEED without government intervention.

  • Posted By: dr doug @ 09/30/2008 12:29:52 AM

This campaign has become very simple: all Obama's associations are shady, all his advisers are criminals and everything bad that happens is all Obama's fault (the non-bailout). However, all Obama's advisers are patriots and Mc Cain is Lincoln, Reagan and Kennedy all rolled into one. Oh, and Palin can also save the country single-handedly if need be...

Where is the story about Jim Johnson and Frank Raines?

  • Posted By: Chuzpah @ 09/29/2008 10:10:50 PM

Exactly what is the due diligence process to be for each campaign contributor? What does the Candidate ask for? Financial statements, lie detector, or what? Both VP candidates recently returned campaign contributions AFTER the money source proved to have legal or ethical issues. What was known about FANNIE AND FREDDIE at the time they were making large contributions to many politicians, including Obama?
McCain's Rove machine was fingering Obama for receiving past contributions while they were doing it in the present, continuing to do so after the scandal broke. BIG DIFFERENCE. .......

  • Posted By: SpeakTruth @ 09/29/2008 6:13:37 PM

Why am I not surprised that McCain supporters continue to flat out lie, and repeat those lies over and over. "Freedom & Liberty" continues to repeat the false claims that Obama had Freddie and Fannie executives as advisors. Not true, never was. Obama had a guy on one of his search committes a while back that was a FORMER Freddie exec. He also severed all ties to the campaign a long time ago. The other one has never been an advisor nor associated with the Obama campaign in any way.

Typical McCain / Rove tactic: Accuse your opponent of what you are, in fact, guilty of. McCain's main guy, Rick Davis, is a long term lobbyist for both Freddie and Fannie making $millions lobbying to defeat any attempts to regulate them. McCain's campaign guy was still being paid by Freddie and Fannie up to a month ago. In order to cover this up, McCain naturally lies and accuses Obama of ties to Freddie and Fannie that don't exist.

Add in the other element of Mccain's strategy - accuse the media of bias (that's always good for applause from the far right who think Limbaugh is even handed) and you get both - Accusing the media of bias for not reporting the false accusations about Obama - simply amazing that this fraud McCain can use the word "honor" with a straight face.

The link below contains a purported list of the top 25 in Congress who got contributions from the folks at Fannie and Freddie. Obama is listed third, after Dodd and Kerry, even though Obama is just a junior Senator. Obama is followed next by Clinton. Barney Frank is on the list as well.

Obama received contributions from Freddie and Fannie employees, and the total amount does not even come close to the approx. two million Davis got paid for lobbying and "access to McCain". McCain has received plenty from Freddie and Fannie management as well.

Well if access is your issue, then you must love Barney Franks alleged access.

Republican congressmen just put a Democrat in The White House (1pm Sept 29th, 2008)

You can write it on the wall, "My Friends"

There is a God and He does not like LIARS. Its in The Bible
In fact, God hates a lair as I recall.
"These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him ... a lying tongue ... a false witness that speaketh lies" (6:16-19). Therefore, good and honest men reject liars! David said, "He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight" (Ps 101:7).

Does this mean God is for OBAMA?

And where was David living when he was sleeping with Bathsheba, Uriahs' wife?

  • Posted By: zadochum @ 09/29/2008 7:41:03 PM

It is how the republicans are..."anything that is their is right and worthy defending" while the Democrats are always wrong. This guy is a lobbyist but the press keeps going off this message. Please save us the pain.

God does not give a rats behind who is president, only that you serve Him. It doe not matter if your temporial leader is Joe Stalin, Ho Chi-min, or Joan of Arch. So take a chill pill and enjoy the *** fight.

you dont have a clue, obviously you haven't read Gods Word. I will pray for you, for Satan to take the blinders off your eyes and the mufflers off your ears. This I will do, not for Obama or McCain, but for your salvation. God does care and you are suppose to inquire what he wants you to do.

"Render to Ceasar the things of Ceaser and the things of God to God". Ceasar was no freind of the Jew only an occuppier. The Kings of Isreal where always in conflict with Gods' Law and the prophets were always in a twist about it. Temporal leaders do not effect ones relationship to God no matter who or what they do. Quote something different if you like.

Obama's ties to our financial problems start long before he took money from Fannie and Freddie execs. In the early/mid 90's he worked for a group called ACORN (very radical, left wing group). One of the things Obama was involved in was leading their Project Vote which was later found to be very fradulent and illegal. Shortly after that while Obama was training their leaders and still working with ACORN, ACORN was one of several groups that put extreme pressure on then President Clinton and Congress to relax the credit rules so that people (low income, minorities) that could not qualify for home loans would be able to. Clinton and Congress gave in and suddenly people who could not qualify DID qualify for loans they could not pay and the foundation of our current problems were set.

People seem to forget that in 2003 President Bush highlighted the problems and asked Congress to take action before things got too far out of hand. In 2005 John McCain co-sponsored a bill that would have put common sense regulation above political correctness and fixed the problem but the bill died in Congress. Obama took 165,000 not 100,000 from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and has employed 3 or 4 of the people heavily involved in taking the money in his campaign.

Wake up people. Don't believe what you see on TV or in the newspapers. do your own research.

Acorn is not a "very radical" "very liberal" group, except when described that way by "very radical - ultra right wing" writers. It's a grass roots fair housing organization. By its nature, it does tend to get more democratic support and it tends to support democratic candidates. It also sponsors voter regisration drives. Obama worked as a volunteer lawyer for Acorn more than 13 years ago. You really have to reach to find anything nefarious about that.

.................Why is McCain playing the act that he is not some type of Political Insider when he has been a BIG TIME Political Insider in the Senate for so many years?? Why does McCain think he can fool us with his twisting of the facts in speeches and debates?? McCain lost his opportunity for the Presidency when he was Bush Whacked by Bush during the year 2000 Republican Primary.

Nevermind the staff, what about the candidates? The link below contains a purported list of the top 25 in Congress who got contributions from the folks at Fannie and Freddie. For an interesting article purporting to detail Barney Frank???s long history with Fannie Mae, See http://www.businessandmedia.org/printer/2008/20080924145932.aspx

Do Obama and the Democrats deserve a lift in the polls as a result of the financial and mortgage problems? The answer from history is a clear "NO." Here's the lead of a New York Times story on September 30, 1999 ???Fannie Mae Eases Credit To Aid Mortgage Lending??? [link below]. That's 1999 folks.

Here's the lead of a New York Times story on Sept. 11, 2003: "The Bush administration today recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago." [see link below]

McCain said in co-sponsoring the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, "If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system and the economy as a whole."

What was Barney Frank and fellow Democrats saying at the time of these attempted reforms? According to reports, Representative Barney Frank(D-MA) claimed of the thrifts "These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis, the more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing." Representative Mel Watt (D-NC) added of the reforms "I don't see much other than a shell game going on here, moving something from one agency to another and in the process weakening the bargaining power of poorer families and their ability to get affordable housing."
