    Wow, just face it, the smear the republicans tried to have stick to Obama did not. Why is it so hard to believe that McCain, your Freddie Mac champ, was floored? You know McCain is in bed with lobbyist. Why do you think his bill in 2005 never had legs. You need to blame democrats even though the majority (president, senate, and house) was republican. It is obvious the republican spinners are out in full force.

    The ending tells all, the harder you try to hit with an issue, the harder you will be hit BACK. McCain link to Big Oil is a much LARGER issue than a small organization such as ACORN. I know the republican want to make a mountain out of a mole hill because they DON'T have much on Obama.

    The problem of today is ALL about controlling OIL OIL was the big issue for the LAST 8 years now McCain wants to add 8 more and forget the middle class. Do you really think BUSH was interested in ALTERNATIVE fuels? There is a 10% chance McCain won't follow in his footsteps.

    The authors conveniently forget to mention that Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae's top two recipients are Chris Dodd D-CT and Barak OBama with over 100,000 dollars each. No mention of these connections? Follow the money, follow the history of how time and time again warnings were given that this was coming. As usual the democratic response is to the Republicans to stop using scare tactics, everything is fine. Will not be long that we will be dealing with Social Security solvency issues and as usual the Republicans will get blamed even though we have been waving the flag for ten years that the problem has to be dealt with...we'll see won't we??

    When will the media stop lying to the American Public and come clean with the truth about the current financial crisis they are being asked to pony up $700 billion. Why must you continue to have democrat, Obama amnesia to promote policies that have negatively affected the american people? Democrats such as Barney Frank Reed should be ashamed for their role , stop lying and resign imnmediately. Stop lying to us, accept responsibility, realize your policies do not promote a prosperous american economy, they give away what so many work hard for to those who have not.. Most americans do not want to move from democracy to socialism. Why not let them make their own decisions based on truth in reporting?

    I wish people would quit the "liberal media" BS and finally realize that the media is leaning to the whims of corporations which control the Republican Party. Just like the issue of Abortion the Republican party does not want to change anything because they would have nothing left to campaign on. They NEVER campaign on what they will do, only the negative interpretations of what the democratic party will do. As many reports show (including statistics from the G.A.O) the economy has been more successful under democratic presidents for the last 60 years. The only hope for this country is a long Democratic run or the building of a true third party to take the choke hold that the Republcan fear mongers have of the country via that "Liberal media" they keep buying through corporate advertises.

    What no one wants to talk about it the years before we had a democratic congress who much Fannie and Freddie gave to McCain. Fannie/Freddie donate the most to those that are on committees, those that run for Senate and run for President. Obama got a bonus for the huge amount of voters he signed up.

    In the 2006 election cycle, Fannie Mae was giving 53 percent of its total $1.3 million in contributions to Republicans, who controlled Congress at that time. This cycle, with Democrats in control, they've reversed course, giving the party 56 percent of their total $1.1 million in contributions. Similarly, Freddie Mac has given 53 percent of its $555,700 in contributions to Democrats this cycle, compared to the 44 percent it gave during 2006.

    Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have also strategically given more contributions to lawmakers currently sitting on committees that primarily regulate their industry. Fifteen of the 25 lawmakers who have received the most from the two companies combined since the 1990 election sit on either the House Financial Services Committee; the Senate Banking, Housing & Urban Affairs Committee; or the Senate Finance Committee. The others have seats on the powerful Appropriations or Ways & Means committees, are members of the congressional leadership or have run for president.

    Typical liberal media bias - attack McCain and ignore Obama and his second highest PAC contribution from Fannie & Freddie, plus his ties to the criminally indicted ACORN community organization, which was also a recipient of Fannie & Freddie largesse. A fervent wish is for a third party candidate with executive experience and not the lousy choice we have now - a Bolshevik idealogue with no executive or financial experience versus a political go it alone 'maverick' with no executive or financial experience. For all those blaming the anti-regulation mistakes which includes the removal of the Glass Steagall Act signed by Bill Clinton; they need to acknowledge the start of this crisis is with the social engineering of the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) of 1977 with amendments in 1980 (both Carter), 1991 (Bush I) 1995 (Clinton) and a 2005 (Bush II) failed attempt to re-regulate the Act to tighten down the sub-prime excesses which was subverted by Frank & Schumer. There is no requirement in the constitution for everyone to own a home and to loan money with no percent down to risky uncreditworthy borrowers is foolhardy. The sub prime collapse started the rest of the financial collapse aided & abetted by the Congressional 'oversight' at Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae..
