Typical bias leftist media carrying Obama to the finish line. I'm so sick of bias "news". Newsweek is a joke! Laughable.

then go elsewhere and that way your blood pressure won't go too high. Ask nurse Loriw for a prescription of what you should do. I think she would agree with me on this one.

McAIN REMINDS ME OF AN OPPENENT I RAN AGAINST FOR COUNTY JUDGE IN TEXAS ABOUT FIVE TIMES. I SPENT TWENTY YEARS IN PUBLIC OFFICE AND I PARTICIPATED IN A LOT OF POLITICS. THE WORST OPPENENT AND PUBLIC SERVANT YOU CAN HAVE IS ONE THAT RULES BY TEMPERMENT. THEY ARE EFFECTIVE WHATSOEVER. THEY USE FEAR AND ANGER TO CONTROL OTHERS.

WHEN THEY ARE CAUAGHT IN THE WRONG, THEY TURN TO ANGER. THIS IS SIMILAR TO WHAT I HAVE READ ABOUT PALIN. IN MY OPINION, SHE HUNTS FOR OPPORTUNITIES TO PROVE SOMEONE WRONG, AND THEN SHOW OFF LEADING PEOPLE TO BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE INTELLECTS. THIS IS HOW THEY GAIN CONTROL OVER OTHER, AND EVEN THE MEDIA. BUT THE BASIC KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE IS LACKING.

McCAIN HAS BEEN IN OFFICE FOR 26 YEARS: DOING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER 26 TIMES. PALIN HAS BEEN IN PUBLIC LIFE HUNTING WRONG DOERS TO GET THE CREDIT, NOW SHE IS THE HUNTED! THIS TYPE OF EPHEMERAL POLITICIANS ARE A DIME A DOZEN AND DANGEROUS FOR THE THE UNITED STATES.

WAKE UP AMERICA AND SMELL THE LIPSTICK! VOTE DEMOCRAT! THE BEST CHOICE, THE ONLY CHOICE!

Observe the U.S national debt over the last 30 years.

    http://www.cedarcomm.com/~stevelm1/usdebt.htm

The neoconservative republicans have been responsible for putting us in an economic situation of almost no return.

    The neocons(hopefully unintentionally) advocate:
1)broad use of military and high military spending
    2) high spending in general with little to no revenue consideration(deficit spending)

As much as McCain claims to be a maverick, he:
1)wishes to continue the Iraq war indefinitely
2)with even more tax cuts, and thus has absolutely no good way of raising revenue.

John McCain IS a neo-con by his policy, and the neo-con of all-time history has put this country in one of the worst spots since the Great Depression.

From the beginning, the answer has been clear to many of us. How can anyone listen to John McCain say Obama will make you poor,

when he will stay in Iraq till our country collapses from debt. It is the end-all of Republican deception:

"We won't raise your taxes, but we'll borrow money till the economy begins vomitting. As long as we didn't raise your taxes, you surely won't be able to connect us to your horrible quality of life?"

Why can't any of you see that? Why can't you see, or acknowledge, that this man will change nothing, and that he, like the president before him, is fooling you into thinking he can help us live better at HOME?

The republican party before the neo-cons was a GOOD party: good in national security, financially sound. The neo-con way, John McCain's way, will go down in history for destroying us. And Obama will raise our taxes...Why won't it click?

Indictment coming! Well Mr. Obama should have been vetted by the mainstream media. Mr Rezko is cooperating with the feds and turning on the messiah as well as the Gov. of Illinois. You heard it from me first, a little birdie told me this well happen in the next few weeks! Maybe now people will realize why Bill Clinton has been so smug the last few weeks. The indictment is coming.

MCCAIN WAS BORN IN COLON, R.P.
The account of John Sidney McCain III's birth being in Coco Solo is a fabrication. This was popularized by the McCain legal defense team. The fabrication is that he was born in the Coco Solo hospital at the Naval Air Station. However, no hospital existed at Coco Solo until one was built five years after McCain's birth. Although some people speculated that he must have been born at Colon, the fact of the location of his birth didn't come out until recently. John McCain's parents did not live on base. They lived in Colon, Republic of Panama.

There is a good deal of information available at http://PanamaJohn.dominates.us where you can see the birth certificate and supporting documents.

Thank you for the info-what seems incredible to me is why lie? McCain even lied about how and where his adopted daughter came from, too. This is integrity? McCain talks about his qualifications so much-, can't even remember last position when he speaks off the cuff. Does the GOP think he will get even sharper as the years go on?

The naturalization bill for Panamanians born after 1904 wasn't enacted until 1937, after McCain had already been born. Looks like he missed the boat.

But you don't see Obama's people shouting this. Why? Because they aren't desperate enough to NEED TO.

Only McCain's supporters go on and on about Obama's lac of legitimacy, when in fact it's a fearful smokescreen covering the illegitimacy of their McCain.

Obama should not waste his time tearing down McCain because he's not a natural-born citizen, as the constitution requires for POTUS. Instead Obama is rightly focusing on the issues that separate him from McCain, issues Americans care about, issues in which Americans need to see change.

        GOBAMA!!

One imagines that this "observer" wouldn't be so happy to rely on claims allegedly made by the likes of Mr Rezco, if those claims didn't accord with his own prejudices. He might even recognize Rezco as an unreliable source! For my part, I deem "thepointt" to be an unreliable source, so I take his predictions about indictments with a grain of salt. Make that a pound of salt.

Yes there is a very big difference in how the two senators view the world.

The NObama campaign is asking law enforcement officials across the state of Missouri to join its "truth squad" and target anyone promoting or disseminating untrue or misleading material about the candidate. Police, sheriffs, and prosecutors will be cracking down on what they call violations of Missouri's ethics laws, which are to include these kinds of incidents.

(Part 2 of 3: Continued from my post above - Intelligence and Leadership: Posner)

The high-level jobs are filled generally by lateral entries from quite different jobs, rather than by civil servants. Some of these high-level jobs are technical; an example is the chairmanship of the Federal Reserve Board. Such jobs are relatively easy to fill with persons who can be predicted with reasonable confidence to do a good job.

But there is a tendency to exaggerate the versatility of the combined general-specific human capital that a lateral entrant brings to a high-level government job of a managerial or advisory rather than technical character. There are SEVERAL CHARACTERISTICS of such a job that actually MILITATE AGAINST THE PROSPECTS FOR THE SUCCESS OF AN EXTREMELY INTELLIGENT PERSON. First, these are ensemble jobs in the sense that many different skills or aptitudes are necessary to successful performance; if one of these, such as intelligence, is very highly developed, a person may neglect the others.

Second, it may not be possible to use step-by-step, logical reasoning to solve the problems laid at the feet of the occupant of a job like secretary of defense or secretary of state or national security adviser. Such questions as what to do in Vietnam or what to do in Iraq do not lend themselves to rigorous analysis because there is not enough information to analyze. Intelligence is not designed for coping with situations that are not complex, but rather are profoundly uncertain. Having great information-processing skills is not worth a lot if you have no reliable information.

Third, leaders or managers should be more intelligent than their followers or subordinates, but not too much more intelligent. IF THEY ARE TOO MUCH MORE INTELLIGENT, THEY WILL HAVE DIFFICULTY ASSESSING THE CAPACITIES AND LIMITATIONS OF THEIR UNDERLINGS and they will be tempted to substitute their intelligence for their underlings knowledge. Analysis and knowledge are, to an extent, substitutes. You can multiply two numbers rapidly if you have good computational skills or if, though your computational skills are mediocre, you have memorized the multiplication table. Knowledge in government resides in civil servants, and they tend on average to be less intelligent (also of course less powerful) than brilliant laterals. So the latter are tempted to think that they can make decisions with minimal assistance from the civil servants.

The temptation is reinforced by a failure to distinguish between intuition and step-by-step reasoning. Cognitive psychologists explain that the human unconscious contains more information than we can access at a conscious level. As Herbert Simon (an economist and psychologist) explained, conscious attention is a severely limited faculty and must be

(Part 3 of 3: Continued from my post above: Intelligence and Leadership: Posner)

carefully rationed. Through intuition, however, we can access the larger repository of unconscious information. Hence we speak of a person as having EXPERIENCE or GOOD JUDGMENT or COMMON SENSE, as distinguished from being brilliant in the sense of being quick or having a good (conscious) memory. So now imagine a confrontation between a BRILLIANT PERSON WHO HAS NO KNOWLEDGE about Vietnam or IRAQ, and a CAREER STATE DEPARTMENT OFFICER who has spent his whole career working on conditions in one of those countries, who KNOWS THE LANGUAGE, has LIVED THERE, and is STEEPED IN THE COUNTRYS HISTORY, CULTURE, AND POLITICS. Suppose he offers some advice to the brilliant senior official, and the latter asks him to explain and justify the advice. He may be unable to do so because he may be drawing on a repository of information below the conscious level. The BRILLIANT OFFICIAL may be IRRITATED at HIS INABILITY to EXTRACT much more than A CONCLUSION FROM THE EXPERT.

What is required at the TOP LEVELS of government is NOT BRILLIANCE, but MANAGERIAL SKILL, which is a different thing, AND INCLUDES KNOWING WHEN TO DEFER TO THE SUPERIOR KNOWLEDGE OF A MORE EXPERIENCED BUT LESS MENTALLY AGILE SUBORDINATE. Moreover, so specialized is management as a job that success in managing a business may not translate at all into success in managing a government agency. The firm-specific human capital that a person acquired in a career of management in a business firm may have no value for the management of a government agency, or for that matter a university, a private foundation, or an international organization. Indeed, an experienced manager of a firm may falter and have to be fired if a change in the firms environment requires a different type of management skill.

A striking example of the specialized character of leadership human capital is Larry Summers. A TRULY BRILLIANT PERSON AND SUCCESSFUL SECRETARY OF THE TREASURY, he FAILED as PRESIDENT OF HARVARD UNIVERSITY though he seemed to many people (myself included) to be an outstanding choice. I have the highest personal and professional regard for Summers and blame the failure of his presidency not on him but on the Harvard faculty of arts and sciences. But the fact is that he failed, because he was not able to port his very considerable suite of intellectual and managerial assets to the management of an organization critically different from the Treasury Department.

What exactly have the the Mc Cain supporters gained personally in the last 8 years when McCain has supported most of Bush initiatives. The 1 trillion dollar war adn GOP doctrine of reckless de regulation and tax cuts for rich has bankrupted the economy. Mc Cain whole heartedly supported a regime that has triggered the decline of American militarily and economic might . Pity People so clued out to still want to support Mccain.

Classic conservative thinking that all problems can be traced to race and class, however I have to disagree with Pallisor. The predatory lending that took place was actually convincing middle class homebuyers that they could purchase a 200,000 home for just 900 a month not really explaining that the payments were interest only and by the way you may never actually own this home unless by some miracle you get a job paying double what you make now and can afford the real payments. That's predatory - not selling a 50,000 home to someone in the "high-risk" areas.

    • Posted By: Pallisor @ 09/29/2008 9:29:25 PM

The fact is Clinton passed laws that put unsafe lending practices in motion. The fact is both Bush and McCain tried to reign in these practices once they were out of hand. The fact is dem Barney Frank said "It's not a problem". The fact is we're seeing the results of all this right now. That isn't to say there aren't other factors, but please stop telling us all that the republicans are the only ones at fault here, because they aren't.

Obama campaign said to be enraged at the media over its coverage of the financial crisis. "The media is creating a sense of panic in this country. It creates a situation that, although on the surface appears favorable to our candidate, may create dynamics beyond our control." said Rosa Luxemborg a top economic advisor to Mr. Obama. I have been in favor of John McCain since 2000, when the current occupant of the White House sabotaged his campaign. The idea that McCain and W agree on everything is laughable, and can only be believed by people who don't pay any attention to politics. McCain is clearly the better choice if you are concerned about our country's national security AND the economy. He obviously tried to do the right thing on this bailout package, by suspending his campaign and returning to Washington. Only time will tell if the bailout package is needed, but at least McCain is involved and intensely fighting for what he believes is right -- which is more than I can say for Sen. Obama. I'm not sure he'd leave the campaign trail if Al-Qaeda attacked our nation again!

Breaking news to all those dire hard Obama fools, the Barry's camp has issue a statement to all TV and media outlets that they will sue if any outlet runs the NRA ad's. Doesn't this tell you something people, doesn't this tell you that the guy is full of it. If there is evidence of Barry's position on guns that he doesn't want you to bear arms, and that his is cowardly saying he will sue if there ads continue to appear, doesn't that tell you that he is hiding something. DAM PEOPLE wake the hell up. This man has change his mind on a lot of stuff to get your vote and a lot of you are too stupid to understand. Barry is just plan out making you all look very dumb and if he is elected like the devil he would have pulled the best trick man know of, making people believe that he is not there when he is filled with corrupt, and un-experience..... Dam this guys is good.....but vote and be smart.......McCain 08

As I'm writing this the market (DJI) is down -650 points and falling. Some time was needed to be spent on the economy. Remember McCain was willing to stop the debates over it.

It doesn't matter if McCain LIVED through a period, its his PERCEPTION people want to know about. If you think with all of McCain's wisdom that staying Iraq until terrorism is no longer there however long it takes and moving on to Afghanistan then vote for him because you agree with him. Just because McCain has been someplace doesn't make him right.. McCain NEVER spoke of Bin Laden, maybe he thinks Bin Laden and his entourage is in one of the floors in an Iraqi household. By now Bin Laden probably solidified Al Qaeda to the point where he could have Bin Laden 2, 3, and 4 soon running around while he keeps us BUSY in Iraq.. .

I must be missing something here, they told McCain where to bomb and he was shot down and for that reason he knows how to win wars. .

    • Posted By: tippology1 @ 09/29/2008 6:40:56 PM

Max you are missing something here. As he house rejected the bailout, the American public is going to hand over the country to Obama a person with 2ys experience in a high level office and no executive experience to oversee what is going on. The American pubic wants a different approach but why in the hell would you vote for a person who hired his top advisors directly from Fannie Mac and Fannie May. It is documented that three of Obama advisors have work for Fannie May have earned over 125 million dollars between the three, probably creating the beginning of this housing problem we are facing. Approving loans to again high risk buyers and not doing the research as to what might happen, thus the great meltdown begins. I know people want change but if you look closer Obama is going to raise taxes and continue to causes financial Institutions to crash with high taxes due to not enough money coming in. What we need is jobs and we need them now, not government jobs but jobs that will be in direct line with the economy and Barry has no clue as to how this will happen with his plan. Obama taxing of the middle class will finish us and the American people can be stupid if they want or be smart and choice a safe thing in McCain. Hold him accountable if he doesn't do what he says in 4yrs then vote him out, but to put Obama in office will complete the meltdown and we we will the laughing stock of the world. As far as he foreign policy experience the guy actually held a speech in Germany and accepted money, U call that foreign policy give me a break. Obama is a dirty crook who is using people to get elected. He is playing fire to our country and is just a terrible pick during this economic challenge......McCain will add jobs, jobs, jobs which is what we need. WE DONT NEED TO MAKE HISTORY VOTING FOR OBAMA BEING-BI-RACIAL, NOT BLACK AMERICAN, we need results and fast. I just think people are really desperate to vote for this clown and if U do then you reep what you soe
