McCain is a hothead,self-righteous to the point of being messianic. He is a militarist who thinks in terms of the violent use of force, winning or losing, victory or defeat, honor or dishonor. He is filled with hate for the "enemy", having suffered unforgettable torture from people he was seeking to destroy in a war,Vietnam, based on lies, deceit, with never revealed political motivations of LBJ and his cabal.McCain is the same man he was then,in lockup, out for revenge, bitter and angry and looking for bear.
It just happens to be Iraq, but it could be anywhere and anyone. A military like ours, ready to serve any militarist anywhere, even more ignorant, uneducated, unsophisticated is a tragedy waiting to happen.Nuclear war is just around the corner with McCain; you can smell it on him. His posture is that of a bull dog who latches on,never lets go,and plunges off the cliff still holding on. Are we going to go off this cliff with him, into a nuclear exchange in the name of "defense" or "honor" or some other word or phrase made up in someones office. This man has belligerence written all over him- are we that angry, too? Do we feel that victimized riding around in our SUV's and snowmobiles? Do we hate peoples and cultures different from ours that much? We are confronted with facing global warming, energy independence,an aging population, universal health care and a lot more. Is nuclear war our way out of grappling with these issues?
Pearl Harbor and 9/11 shaped our national consciousness but how far are we prepared to go?

"I am somebody. I am somebody. I am the One. The One I am. I have been to Hollwood. I have been to Harvard. I have crossed the ocean for a heart of gold. Oprah loves me. Europeans love me. I love me. Me I love. I am the One. The One I am. " But we don't like green candidates and hams. We don't like them Mr. One.

Josecita, I have noticed from your postings that your manner of thinking is eerily similar to that of Sarah Palin. I was wondering if you could please translate into English the following passage of the good governor.

      From the Couric interview.

COURIC: Why isn't it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries? Allow them to spend more and put more money into the economy? Instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess?

PALIN: That's why I say, I like ever American I'm speaking with were ill about this position that we have been put in where it is the tax payers looking to bailout. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up the economy. Helping the ... Oh, it's got to be about job creation too. Shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So health care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americas. And trade we've got to see trade as opportunity, not as a competitive scary thing. But 1 in 5 jobs being created in the trade sector today. We've got to look at that as more opportunity. All those things under the umbrella of job creation. This bailout is a part of that.

The American people had an opportunity Friday night to see and hear McCain and Obama together. It became very clear that McCain has been lying about Obama not having any understanding of Foreign Policy. Sen. Obama went toe to toe with Sen. McCain and we now know that Obama is every bit as informed about the situation as McCain is. We further saw over the last many days as the financial crisis unfolded, that Obama keeps his head in a crisis and does not go from one tactic to the next trying to see what will stick. McCain was quite simply irratic and all over the place, trying to create as much drama and be as political as he could be.

McCain is always tooting his own horn. He reminds me of that annoying co-worker who used to sit next to me at the office.

    NO,THANKS!

Steady, thoughtful, even-tempered, gracious, serious, intelligent, honest, classy, eloquent, compassionate, Those are the qualities a person needs to move our country forward -protect my sons (and others) from unnecessary war- bring the changes our country (and planet) need for survival- and help the United States become respected throughout the world once again . Senator Barack Obama was born for this!

It's the ideological contrast that's so important. Obama is a Constitutionalist while McBush is a Neo Con. With McBush, we would expect four more years of protections racket (war, occupation, fear, money), but operated by a hot head. Mr War Hero is a betrayer of the Republic and coddler of militant corporatism. Just like Bush-Cheney.

And I can see him in a negotiatio with a leader from a foreign country. He comes out, looking at the floor. When the other person reachs out to shake hands, he looks at the wall. When he talks about the issues, he either looks at the wall or someone else. He laughs condescendingly at anything said that didn't come out of his mouth. Then when it's over, he sticks his hand out to the side, still not looking at the person, to shake hands.

Is this the kind of rude treatment that is going to foster really good foreign policy? We will get a long way with this.

McCain will win this election quite handily. Polls are all over the place, but the tide will turn dramatically in the next 2 weeks. The "bailout" is going to reveal quite a bit. The continuing Eligibility suit will become clearer this week. Rezko is back in the news. ACORN is about to be crushed. Imam Rev J.Wright is gonna be roosting chickens again, and Hussein is gonna be shown for what he is....A crook and a fraud.

Oh yeah....and the true "anointed one", Sarah...is gonna show us all...what a real American woman is. She will be embraced by a large majority.....

Just open your eyes, and hold on tight.......The mohammed messiah is cooked.

    Obama/Biden '08 !!!

After 8 years of Bush we need calm and thoughtful.
While McCain is entertaining with his agery, erratic and childish behavior, it is not presidential.
We need a scalpel, not a hachet. I mean, really, do you want such an impulsive person as McCain with the nuclear codes?

Here it comes......Tony is ready to collect his Wtness Protection Amnesty.....Tony is about to give Fitzgerald his request.....Hussein's head on a silver platter. Close to being done....Good timing...don't ya'll think....

Chicago Tribune reporters David Kidwell, John Chase and Jeff Coen wrote September 27, 2008, that, according to "sources", Rezko "has met with federal prosecutors and is considering cooperating in the corruption probe of the governor's administration." (This was confirmed by the Chicago Sun-Times' Natasha Korecki.)......

This could quite well...end up getting MicHELLe investigated as well...the indictment will involve...Hospital contracts...which Hussein and herself were major players. Rezko already found quilty in it.....Gov. Blogojevich and Hussein did the actual dirty work.....

Ya'll can cry...scream...call names. It doesn't matter......Fitzgerald wants...and is gonna get....a Federal Indictment against The False One.

    Rational and Intelligent Beings...

If the United States is arguably the World's #1 Super Power, why does the Commander-In-Chief need to reflect the erratic behaviors of John McCain?

God made us "rational and intelligent beings" to have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

To be irrational and unintelligent is a description reserved for the beast of the earth, but even they were given the instincts of stealth pursuit of their prey.

With the Iraq War and the U.S. economic crisis, Americans should not be detached from fully understanding that its citizens literally "live and die, its country rises and falls," all on the word of the President of the United States.

Regardless of your political or fraternal affiliation, this reality should not be thrilling or disturbing, but yes, sobering...

At this time, after intense reflection, and without prejudice, I find Senator Obama qualified to be President of the United States.

    So Mote It Be

You're in the wrong forum for rationale and intelligence.

Five minutes with loriw and sharenews will have you questioning whether or not eugenics aimed at republicans is really a bad idea.

      • Posted By: jimbo3800 @ 09/28/2008 7:27:02 AM

Wow, bencrap uses big words like "eugenics". I guess we are all supposed to be impressed.

No wonder you like Obama; you are both into big vocabularies, but with nothing of substance to back it up.

Republican must stop hating intelligent people.

Second grade namecalling, huh? Your mother would be proud. Then again what would she think of you voting for a bald-faced liar and unrepentant adulterer?

    • Posted By: TruthForward @ 09/28/2008 7:27:45 AM

McCain's instinct during a economic crisis... Is to cancel a debate. Many called him a wimp, because of it. McCain can not restore honor to the U.S.

One can not cancel everything during a crisis.. Prudent normalcy is important. Imagine McCain's fatalism jokes during 9/11. We would have been so depressed and wanting to bomb the entire middle east, including the innocent people.

McCain is not a good leader. Republicans ignore him. Democrats disagree with him. He can not run a country with these set of circumstance. I have had enough of Republican rule.

  • Posted By: EarthConscience @ 09/28/2008 2:59:29 AM

Everytime I hear McCain called "Maverick" I think of Tom Cruise in "Top Gun." America does not need a president that has a 20 year old brain on testosterone OD stuck in a 70 year old body. Vote to bring intelligence back to Washington ... Vote Obama!

    • Posted By: benkrapf @ 09/28/2008 4:19:56 PM

Sitting in the Oval Office, McCain would open a channel to the Secretary of the Navy and request a flyby of the tower.

  • Posted By: KayCee @ 09/28/2008 2:10:13 PM

Here's a fun game to demonstrate why most countries in the Middle East (and elsewhere) HATE US.

Every time McCain / Palin say "freedom" or "democracy," replace those words with "Jesus" or "Christianity."

They, along with most Republicans including Bush, are on a crusade to enforce our lifestyle upon the ignorant heathens throughout the world who have not been shown the holy light of 'freedom' and 'democracy' because we obviously know what is best for everyone in the world, and our way is better just because we say so (Oh, and God says so, too, because he's on our side).

If anyone wants to know how things are going to turn out in the Middle East, simply look to the past because history is in the midst of repeating itself. Look up a little thing called The Crusades, wars that bankrupted every European nation that participated with the exception of the Republic of Venice that was the Halliburton of the Middle Ages. Look at the death tolls. Look at the ultimate grounds gained and changes affected in the Middle East as a result. (NOTHING)

Anyone who thinks victory in Iraq is even a remote possibility needs to restudy middle eastern history. Terrorist groups aside, Sunnis and Shia have been fighting for 1,500 years. We're not going to solve their problems in 1 year or 100 years.

I cannot believe this election is even close.

    • Posted By: benkrapf @ 09/28/2008 4:14:31 PM

Of course the election is close. We have a vast swath of our nation entrenched in outdated modes of thinking. Sometimes it feels like Dems as a whole are the only ones seeking the future of our nation, with Republicans attempting to tear down any and all progress made, then sticking their heads in the sand when things go awry.

OBAMA's RISE IS IN POLLS IS MOSTLY DUE TO PALIN'S LOWS

GOP Conservative Commentator and Journalist George Wills called this one correctly while GOP Evangelist got it wrong. Wills and other GOP conservatives warned John McCain and the Republican Party that Palin may appear to be the Evangelical's "Great Religious-Right Hope"; but it is blatantly obvious that Palin has NOT been properly vetted and she is brutally short on the minimum substance needed to hold an office "one heartbeat away from Commander-in-Chief" of the most powerful country in the world. The public is now seeing, grimacing, and barfing at the thought of Palin being that close to so much power. Independents and some moderate Republicans are 'quietly' making the switch to the Obama-Biden team. This is partially the reason McCain-Palin numbers are down 4-points while the Obama-Biden numbers are up 4-points.

In his recklessness attempt to "immediately squash" the poll numbers received by the Obama-Biden team after DNC's Invesco Mile Hiigh stadium event, McCain decided to cheat & gamble by selecting Sarah Palin as his VP. In so doing, McCain has also: (1.) humiliated Palin; (2.) frustrated common sense Republicans; (3.) embarrassed GOP supporters, but; (4.) most importantly put the nation severely at risk should Palin be required to take the helm if McCain wins but never makes it to January 20, 2009.

McCAIN IS DANGEROUSLY RECKLESS AND CANNOT BE TRUSTED WITH THE NATION's INTEREST IN HIS HANDS.

Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin realize that the Democrats under the leadership of Barack Obama want to effectively give away in trust our offshore exclusive economic zone by standing in the way of any current offshore development. Under the 1982 United Nations Law of the Seas Convention the US has an exclusive economic zone of 200 nautical miles and mineral seabed rights up to 350 nautical miles extending along the Continental shelf. A nautical mile is 6080 feet so our exclusive economic zone extends about 240 miles and mineral seabed rights extend 420 miles. The US has the world's largest offshore exclusive economic zone totaling 4.4 million square miles. In comparison, the total land area of the United States is only 3.4 million square miles.
On the East coast alone, if you drive from Key West Florida to Bangor Maine it is 2000 miles. Multiply the 2000 miles by mineral seabed rights extending out 420 miles results in a total of 840,000 square miles of ocean acreage. Because we have the world's largest offshore coastline which is twenty-eight percent greater than our land area, it only makes common sense that we exploit our offshore resources to achieve our energy independence.

    • Posted By: hpotterfan77 @ 09/28/2008 3:17:44 PM

So that what, we can drain even more NON-RENEWABLE resources so that our future generations can run out??? Hello, drill, baby, drill won't save the planet which is so important. You need RENEWABLE energy sources that won't dry up!

  • Posted By: mccainsupporter @ 09/28/2008 12:17:30 PM

Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin understand that over one fourth of current United States oil production is now offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin also understand that under the theory of plate tectonics and continental drift, 300 million years ago when oil was formed all of the continents were one supercontinent called Pangea. The continents then drifted apart. The Africa coast was right up against North Carolina 300 million years ago. Today half of the oil production of Nigeria is now offshore and the odds of large offshore deposits off our east coast are very strong. There are also huge oil deposits off of east coast of Brazil. Brazil has tied up almost all of the world ocean drilling ships in the hopes of developing those deposits. Given there is confirmed oil off of Brazil, likely oil off the Southern US east coast and there is confirmed large deposits south of Newfoundland then it is likely there is oil all up and down the entire United States east coast. The United States has the largest coastline in the world and it is simple common sense to make use of those offshore resources to achieve our energy independence. John McCain energy proposals will bring about this development that we so desperately need.

How would Palin believe that? She thinks the earth is 6000 years old remember....because her bible tells her so and she believes it for every SINGLE word!

    • Posted By: fiber artist @ 09/28/2008 2:05:24 PM

How can Palin believe oil was formed 300 million years ago when she doesn't believe in science, evolution and the earth is more than a few thousand years old? I read one church nazi recently say that oil isn't even organic and that the earth is still making it and it is limitless. Never do we hear McPalin talk about CONSERVING our use - we only have 3% of the world's oil and use 25% of it - let's try to use less of evrything! And, that starts with having fewer children - but Palin will keep on having babies until her body simply refuses to have any more.

One statement from the debate jumped out at me. McCain accused Obama of "wanting to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory." My questions for McCain and all the other hawks are these: How do you define victory? What does the US gain from winning? Do the benefits of winning outweigh the enormous costs? Iraq is the new Vietnam. Only old folks remember Nixon's campaign slogan from 1972: "Peace with honor for four more years". We ended up staying in Vietnam only because of our national ego. My real question: "Why are we doing this all over again?" Sooner or later, we will leave Iraq and Afghanistan, and then they will end up with radical Islamic governments. I can only hope that Obama will both win and find ways to extricate us from this mire.

    • Posted By: Cliff-N-Cali @ 09/27/2008 10:21:03 PM

This is coming from an Iraq War Vet and with a father who spent two tours in Vietnam and I'm saying this war is nothing like Vietnam. In eight years (1965-1973) we lost over 58,000 lives over 350,000 wounded and left the people of Vietnam to deal with a monsterous government that killed 10 million of their people out right after we left the country. No Sir! I am sorry but THIS WAR IS NOTHING LIKE VIETNAM! I only wish you people would get your facts straight before you compare Vietnam to the War in Iraq. Thank you!

      • Posted By: pentexan1 @ 09/28/2008 1:20:15 PM

I'll tell you what, Cliff. The comparison should be made, not on how many died, but on the expected results. We spent all those lives fight in Nam (and some of them were friends and relatives of mine) and it was needless. It didn't change a darned thing. The same thing will occur in Iraq. Unless we can stop Bin Laden's organization (and there's every indication that the war in Iraq has only added to that problem), this will be just like VN; we will have spent money and lives and done nothing to help a bad situation. THAT is how it's like VN. Throwing precious lives and money we don't have away.

        • Posted By: Cliff-N-Cali @ 09/28/2008 3:06:58 PM

My friend I am sorry for the loss of your friends and relatives but I still have to disagree. You cannot compare a war like Vietnam to the war in Iraq. Look we don't have to fight hordes of Viet Cong who used the Ho Chi Minh trail to supply thousands of insurgent foot soldiers. We also don't have a military with over 500, 000 troops bogged down in a country a little bigger than the state of Maine. In Iraq our biggest concern now is to get the Iraqi governmet and military working on a range to allow us a way to leave. We have to do right by them (the Iraqi's)and help build their country back up by giving them the chance the people in Vietnam never got. If you want an example look at South Korea, Japan, and Germany. Their country's are at the top economically and socially. No my friend the scope and range of the Vietnam War is too large. The only thing I'd ask of you or anybody is to NOT give up on our military the way we did during Vietnam. SUPPORT THE VOLUNTEERS! Thank you!

I do not want a hotshot fly boy with the power to push The Button in the White House.

Why in god's name would we give the power to drop bombs to a man who clearly would rather drop them than survive?

And if McCain doesn't survive, in the wings is a woman who's idea of crisis management is: "you don't blink." She sounds like a teenage playing chicken with her parent's station wagon.

Both are too emotionally unstable to be president, vice president, or even dog catcher.

Yes, it's very clear how McCain and Palin would govern - and I want no part of them.
