I just heard that that Mr. "save the day" McCain was on a double dinner date with Joe Lieberman and spouses during the critical late night negotiations. And where was he when the Repubs apparently got their feelings hurt by Nabcy Pelosi's speech? Obama was smart to stay out of a fight he couldn't do anything about. McCain should have been so smart. The plan was iffy at best. I just know we'l all be hurting even worse, plan or no plan. At least Obama reportedly said something at the much vaunted Whie House meeting with GWB and all the poobahs. I hear the cat got McCain's tongue.

Dear Ben, It never was a money system; It's an energy system! All modern economic theories are based on the premise that nothing of any great import occurred until the rise of barter and trade. This is why they don't work and all monetary systems are riddled with vicious circles and paradoxes. A completely different perspective arises when we trace the economic process in its most general sense back to its point of origin. In this instance, a completely seamless explanation for every aspect can be obtained by understanding in what way "economics" is actually an unrecognized field of applied physics. 'Fore y'all spend too much time crowin' over the Republican defeat of The Great Red Herring Bill, better take a look at the Stuff That's Been Sneaked Through Whilst You Was Looking The Other Way (and, oh yeah, the cessation of the offshore drilling ban as well). Well over $700 billion and counting. Misdirection, misdirection, misdirection ...

Simple Solution: Stop sending our jobs overseas. Cut all H1-B visas and hire Americans. The 10 million jobs that have been sent overseas, once back in this country will natually fix the economy. A no brainer.

In the meantime, extend unemployment benifits for the 5 million unemployed Americans

    • Posted By: Holly Garfield @ 09/29/2008 2:29:13 PM

Sorry, your solution won't work. The money for those American jobs was just flushed down the toilet. Your employer can't get the loans to fund the startup costs for the jobs or the materials to build your widgets. He may not even be able to get the joan he needs for your next paycheck. Those Wall St. fatcats are already in the unemployment line ahead of you. The few that remain are the ones who were smart enough to be worth their pay and stayed away from the problem. The others are out of work, under investigation or indictment. Many of those had their pay tied to their own stock, which has tanked.

      • Posted By: OnlyCure=Truth @ 09/29/2008 3:02:58 PM

Employers should not need loan to pay people there is the problem bad books.

        • Posted By: bostonBC @ 09/29/2008 4:15:34 PM

Actually that would be a good start. It should be part of any comprehensive economic restructuring. H1-B, L-1 and the other alphabet soup visas were contrived by business much as the credit default swaps and other financial instruments to screw American workers. Re-hire Americans and kick the foreign workers out and the economy will roar back to life. Incremental costs to business may go up somewhat but the cost savings (if any) were nowhere near what the purveyors of the foreign workers pushed for. In my company we have metrics that show it takes a minimum of two offshore workers to do the same job as an American. Bring the jobs back to Americans and get rid of the millions of foreign workers.

Comment: Comment: Obama fiddles while Main Street burns. I watched the vote as Dems bailed out off the bailout. Where was Obama's leadership? On the road campaigning, Where was McCain? In Washington trying to save the bailout. Obama's response to this crisis, "Call me if you need me." He looks like a rat deserting a sinking Dem ship

You might want to check your facts 2/3 of the Repubicans voted against this

  • Posted By: OnlyCure=Truth @ 09/29/2008 3:17:51 PM

By politicians saying that big buisness cannot pay there employees if they cant get loans they are perpetuating the problem and show there own fical stupidity.

  • Posted By: OnlyCure=Truth @ 09/29/2008 3:15:20 PM

If your neighbor came to you and said. You know i cant pay my employees this month can you loan me the money. No. So what should he your neighbor do? Sell some assetts to pay the employees and redo the buisness model to be positive cash flow or just quite playing like they know what there doing.

  • Posted By: OnlyCure=Truth @ 09/29/2008 3:11:27 PM

NY paper is just that paper. You cant really trade it unless someone wants it and why would anyone give up hard earned assets for pie in the sky paper. Its a joke. Buy realestate or build something tangilble sell. Or maybe support a local farmer buy local.

  • Posted By: OnlyCure=Truth @ 09/29/2008 3:08:06 PM

If your going to bail someone out raise the payment on unemployment for a short time until things settle out and these bad buisness go away that need loans to pay people.

  • Posted By: Dragonheartxp @ 09/29/2008 2:58:27 PM

Our leaders did the RIGHT THING!!!
Now just think if Wall Street got the Bail Out and the market went down as it is now....the 700 billion would have been a total loss........for every 500 point drop billions just vanish.

    • Posted By: OnlyCure=Truth @ 09/29/2008 3:04:08 PM

Your right because it is fundamentally flawed and it is going down anyway so dont bail it out.

  • Posted By: OnlyCure=Truth @ 09/29/2008 3:01:24 PM

Sorry I was away voting no for that coporate bailout.

  • Posted By: OnlyCure=Truth @ 09/29/2008 1:54:07 PM

Welfare for big buisness including defense contractors who bilk the people for million dollor toilets ect... needs to stop. Stop supporting it, it does no good anyway. They bilk you for the money to build it then the bilk you for the money to save it, then they bilk you for the money to build it again, then they bilk you for the money to pay there high salaries to bilk you some more.

  • Posted By: OnlyCure=Truth @ 09/29/2008 12:02:17 PM

You should all be thinking conspiaracy because it is a conspiracy to bankrupt mainstreet and enrich those who are already well off.

    • Posted By: Fred Norris @ 09/29/2008 12:10:15 PM

hilarious - you are so misguided it's funny. Meanwhile investors lost 80% of value in these companies...

      • Posted By: OnlyCure=Truth @ 09/29/2008 12:15:44 PM

Investors speculators lost because they where greedy

        • Posted By: Fred Norris @ 09/29/2008 12:19:40 PM

You actually may be the dumbest person I've ever run accross. Wow, please do not have any children.

FYI - a large portion of those "speculators" were retirement funds and mutual funds (from he people on "Main Street")

          • Posted By: OnlyCure=Truth @ 09/29/2008 12:29:26 PM

The people on main street did not choose those risky investments personally the speculators who take there golden parachutes did and walk away with millions leaving people on mainstreet with no retirement while there in hawahii playing Golf. So dont try to spread the blame it lies with the investment houses and bankers.

Is your job to post messages to counter any real truth?

      • Posted By: OnlyCure=Truth @ 09/29/2008 12:16:54 PM

The speculators helped to create the problem and they who own paper should not be bailed out.

  • Posted By: OnlyCure=Truth @ 09/29/2008 1:09:02 PM

NY is counting on you to keep buying there paper goods backed by big corporations in far flung corners of the earth. You become dependent on those big corporations for a job and then when the move there factory to another country that has cheaper labor you loose your job and have to start over. So start locally to begin with and dont play there game.

    • Posted By: Fred Norris @ 09/29/2008 1:20:09 PM

yikes - it is "their" not "there" - My marbles just shrunk reading your posts; I can only hope you make up one of the 8% who are unemployed.

      • Posted By: TheVigil @ 09/29/2008 1:44:52 PM

You were doing so well below with a reasoned and respectably financially prudent answer. Why did you have to blow it by wishing poverty on your fellow man and generally being an a$$hole?

      • Posted By: OnlyCure=Truth @ 09/29/2008 1:31:46 PM

Those are false numbers people that work for the governement and are supported by high taxation should not be counted either as part of the real economy. Taxation to create jobs is part of the problem.

  • Posted By: OnlyCure=Truth @ 09/29/2008 1:40:17 PM

There not going to save the economy by printing more money which is what they will do with this bailout of big buisness. While the local people will loose. So people need to stop playing there game. Buy local cut out big buisness. And forget NY paper money assests that are only really worth the paper they are written on.

  • Posted By: OnlyCure=Truth @ 09/29/2008 1:33:04 PM

Taxation to save the economy or create jobs is a joke because they create the money out of thin air to pay for these welfare programs.

  • Posted By: OnlyCure=Truth @ 09/29/2008 1:06:47 PM

Globalization only benefits the rich and big coporations and hurts local people.

  • Posted By: OnlyCure=Truth @ 09/29/2008 1:05:46 PM

Its time to go local and support only local buisnesses and local stores small stores established locally no chains no more corporations no more big buisness let it go and you will be better off for it. Plant a garden in your yard instead of just grass that does no real good other than look nice. As you do it will take time but the prices of food will go down and the prices of goods will go down because the corporations will become the desparate ones not the individuals. Buy as little as possible unless it is local goods and services.

  • Posted By: OnlyCure=Truth @ 09/29/2008 12:33:23 PM

The paper in NY is Garbage and it needs to be left in the trash.
