Why would Latinos support Obama when he said:

"WHILE EVERYONE AGREES THAT THE HISPANIC POPULATION HAS GOWN, THEY CANNOT EXPAND BY TAKING AFRICAN-AMERICAN SEATS."

We can be sure of one thing...Obama will use us for our votes....but when it comes to jobs Obama has made it clear Latinos are the LAST THING on his mind.

Obama es un mentiroso sin vergüenza.

Comment: I am a fighter and I will never give up in my fight to say I think McCain is the better candidate but it just too many people in our country that is blinded by Obams ray of light. With that said and done I think the election is over, it just too many people. I think Nov 4 will be very dark on the sole purpose the wrong candidate will be elected President because he is black, come at the right time, and plays on people's emotion, and people hate anything that is Republican. Everyday for the next 4yrs I will hope nothing but misery on this nation because we are living on revenge, self pity to blame, and a low intelligence to not understand that you should never vote ouf of hatred. Obama will turn, he will show his true colors to the millions of people who voted for him and when your taxes goes up, and our economy is finish finally, I really hope we as a nation suffer. We need this wake up call because when you cheat, rob and steal to get ahead you really never win. My thoughts go out to McCain because he put up a good fight. I think he has more heart then Obama entire family, and its going not be okay that the nation choice the lesser, less experience. There is a old saying, when you want something really bad and receive what you want, it always not what it seems. We will fail under Obama mark my words. So to the President elect, I pour our a little liquor to you, hang a pair of sneakers in the high wire because the nation under you is dead. I think the economic crunch will pass and that we will be okay under experience leadership. I think we need jobs and more jobs and more jobs which is what McCain will do, but Obama will expand government, and raise higher taxes not putting the money we need into the economy. The American people will suffer and I will be laughing because we deserve every bit of what we get.......

Wow! I can tell you're a Repub because most Dems I talk to never wish bad stuff to happen Americas because their candidate didn't win. Wow! You're not patriotic at all. How could you say I will hope nothing but misery on this nation because we are living on revenge, self pity to blame when your very thought process is to hope for misery out of spite.

What are you a rove shill? Any Latino who votes for McCain deserves what they get. Republicans are racist- they'll smile at you for your vote then stab you in the back with legislation. If you live check to check and vote Republican you're ignorant and voting against yourself. Republicans steal the money for the top 5% in income- expect nothing from those ***.

You are drinking the Democrat kool-aide and not thinking for yourself.

      • Posted By: disgusted in Georgia @ 10/01/2008 10:01:24 AM

Jimpo, I am embarassed that you are a US citizen- your comments are not only racist, but totaly ignorant.
I imagine you have the IQ of our present President-an IQ of paint.
McCain graduated 4th from the bottom of his class and the only reason he was admitted was because his daddy and grandaddy were admials. He was a hot shot, hot tempered, arrogant student at the Naval Academy, and has not changed. The last thing we need is a hot tempered, arrogant intellectually challenged person in charge.
        Let me ask you this:
How would it be if Obama had graduated 4th from the bottom of his class and McCain was president of the Law Review at Harvard?
What if the Obamas had a 17 yr old daughter that was pregnant out of wedlock?
What if Obama had run around on his wife, left her when she was disabled to marry a much younger heiress of an alcohol distributor?
What would the outcry be then?
My parents were immigrants- my Dad never graduated from high school but he and my mom worked tirelessly and sent both my brother and I to college. My daughter is a teacher with a PhD. She works in a local school system, her husband owns his own landscaping business-he received and AD in Landscaping,-and they have 4 children. They are BARELY making it. I went to the grocery store with her last week-she buys no junk- and was in tears see what she spent for BASICS!!!
She buys in bulk and then comes home and spends 3 hours putting raisins, cheese crackers, etc into snack bags so the kids eat a snack pack at a time. She makes it a family affair, and she and her husband and the 4 kids sit together at the kitchen table and separate out the food. Even the 3 yr old helps.

If we do not make a change, our grandchildren will be doomed. .

I'm sorry about your family. Hopefully, things will improve for them very soon.

        • Posted By: jimbo3800 @ 10/01/2008 8:35:53 PM

Wow, who pulled your chain. But hey, thanks for the family history.

One question about your hardworking parents; did they come here legally? My grandparents also came to this country and were coal miners and steelworkers - and this was back in the days of no unions, living in a company town, and being payed in company 'script'.

But guess what? They managed to get in here LEGALLY. I am more than a little tired of people who come here illegally, start having babies like rabbits, and then b*tch and moan about how terrible America is, and how we simply must have change or woe is us.

If everything is so terrible for you, please head back to Mexico and don't let the door hit you on the _ss on the way out.

They're legal if they were born here or if they became US Citizens. In any event - Hispanics are here to stay, and may soon be the MAJORITY. Are you totally shaking in your redneck boobts?????

Even some of the more ignorant Rednecks are finally waking up to the Horrific destruction the Republicans have done to our Great, Prosperous country. When the rest of the Latino find out that the Repub's are prejudiced against anyone who is not white , they will move en mass to the Dem's.

The top 1% of earners earns 22% of the income and pays 40% of the taxes. So, that leaves 60% of the taxes to be paid by 99% of the people. Please, tell me what is fair in this equation. How much more does Obama want them to do? And, when Obama says 95% of the American people will get a tax cut, he forgets to say that 40% pay NO tax. So, while some do get a tax cut, he'll be sending a new "welfare" check to those that never paid in the first place. That's socialism, folks!

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 10/01/2008 2:20:48 PM

If it were socialism, the top 1% wouldn't earn 22% of the income. I don't think the other 99% feel sorry for the top 1% regarding taxes

    • Posted By: froy1100 @ 10/01/2008 8:47:22 AM

I don't know where you get your figure of the 40% tax. With Bush's tax cuts to the wealthy I doubt they are having much trouble paying the bills. Besides, 1% of the population owning 22% of the income (and the top 5% owning 40%), is something unseen since 1928. Guess what happened next.

There have been some very racist remarks coming from Latinos/Hispanics since Sen. Obama began his campaign. I am sorry that a lot of them feel that they are better than African Americans. I thought that we both shared some of the same issues. I honestly did not know that they felt this way about blacks. I feel sorry for them.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 10/01/2008 2:18:14 PM

Please, put away the race card. Like many others, there are many latinos who are concerned about Obama's experience. McCain impressed many latinos when he co-signed the immigration legislation with Kennedy last year. Also, many Florida democrats are not happy with their votes being a political football for four months during the primary season

  • Posted By: josemarti @ 09/30/2008 8:06:41 PM

Hispanic Unite. Unite behind McCain. Ask yourselves: What have all these years of allegiance to the Democratic Party brought us? Poverty. Crime. Lack of education for our kids. Lack of opportunity. Come to Chicago. Look at around you. What do you find in our communities? Most of our kids fail to graduate high school. Those who attend college have to settle for second rate schools like Middlebury and NYU. Who are our leaders in Chicago? Sycophants who spent their time kissing the fondillo of a tyrannical bombastic and corrupt Irishman (Daley). Look around the USA. HAS THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY PRODUCED ANY NATIONAL LEADERS FROM OUR RANKS? Please don't point to that baboso Bill Richardson. The Democratic Party does not share our values. Democrats are relativistic, materialistic, nihilistic, amoral and decadent. We value family, religion, culture, hard work, and responsibility. Abandon your misguided affiliation with the Democrats. Support McCain.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 10/01/2008 1:08:49 PM

McCain co-sponsored the immigration bill with Kennedy last year, knowing the political consequences. He is a compassionate man. He is willing to go against his party when they are wrong. I haven't decided who to vote for yet, but McCain is very impressive

      • Posted By: AskPlus @ 10/01/2008 1:23:07 PM

hey can I ask you what you got for the last 8 years from the "Bushwack" republican party in the last years, maybe you just got here, but prior to Bushwack Bush taking over things were starting to get better, and he came along and undid everything that was put in place benefits people like you!!

  • Posted By: ljw54321 @ 09/30/2008 7:10:21 PM

The longer Latinos are in this country, and the more educated they become, the less susceptible they will be to the poisonous rhetoric of people like John McCain. Hopefully this election they will embrace Obama because he's much more focused on the betterment of the hard working middle class, which most of them are.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 10/01/2008 1:13:45 PM

It is that kind out separatist, presumptuous, categorization of latinos that is costing the democrats votes

Dear discussed in Georgia : you list all of criticism is well taken -well that leaves you and family open for some .Is that fair? Why the hell -if your daughter is having such a hard time -did she and her husband have 4 kids .Spanish people just don't get it -I'm Spanish by the way -quit propergating so you can complain later .I only had 1 kid and did very well and I am not a PHD OR ABC OR WHAT EVER. The writer overlooked the very anti-immigrant (and by extension) anti-Hispanic tone of the Republican primaries. Tom Tancredo, Mike Huckabee and the nativist wing of the Republican party did not do McCain any favors by their harsh rhetoric.

I am also surprised at how homogenous the Republican convention looked. Almost no blacks. No Asians. And aside from our Sen. Martinez, an absence of Hispanics on the dais.

The Republicans need to do a MUCH better job of reaching out to voters outside their traditional base.
