The only way the bailout could work for tax payers is if the assets are purchased at a bargain rate. The current market rate if very low: maybe 20 cents on the dollar. If the treasury overpay, then I would question the sincerity of the deal.

No matter how you feel about the bailout. The plain and simple truth is the oil companies and the speculators helped to get us here quick. When you go from spending $25.00 dollars a week to commute to work, to about
$100.00 dollars a week in about 6 months time. That takes a lot out of the public's pockets, not to mention what it does to the price of durable goods being shipped that is passed on along to us.
