"Not all Democrats agree with Mr. Frank that such policies are off-limits to criticism. Last week Rep. Artur Davis of Alabama said in a statement: 'Like a lot of my Democratic colleagues I was too slow to appreciate the recklessness of Fannie and Freddie. I defended their efforts to encourage affordable homeownership, when in retrospect, I should have heeded the concerns raised by their regulator in 2004. Frankly, I wish my Democratic colleagues would admit when it comes to Fannie and Freddie, we were wrong.'

"Mr. Davis is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus."

    'Rank snobbery'

Camille Paglia, who supports Sen. Barack Obama, has nothing but scorn for the way the media has treated Sarah Palin.

"The mountain of rubbish poured out about Palin over the past month would rival Everest. What a disgrace for our jabbering army of liberal journalists and commentators, too many of whom behaved like snippy jackasses," Miss Paglia writes at www.salon.com.

"The bourgeois conventionalism and rank snobbery of these alleged humanitarians stank up the place. As for Palin's brutally edited interviews with Charlie Gibson and that viper, Katie Couric, don't we all know that the best bits ended up on the cutting-room floor? Something has gone seriously wrong with Democratic ideology, which seems to have become a candied set of holier-than-thou bromides attached like tutti-frutti to a quivering green Jell-O mold of adolescent sentimentality."

Every organization or company that has shipped manufacturing and service industry jobs out of this country and Every politician that has given them the tax breaks to do so are responsible for this mess. You cannot think that you will have a strong economy if a man or woman cannot find a job. These Mom & Pop operations cannot support this economy. Many cannot afford to supply medical plans. But if you notice nobody is welling to address this problem.

I beg to differ with Fact check as the public record indicates the following:

    (H.R. 5660 [106th]: Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000
To reauthorize and amend the Commodity Exchange Act to promote legal certainty, enhance competition, and reduce systemic risk in markets for futures and over-the-counter derivatives, and for other purposes.Answered by a visitor on Oct 6, 2008 7:45 PM - It did indeed become law in HR 4577. This law supersedes state gaming laws and allows things to be done with credit default swaps..
The Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000 has received criticism for the so-called "Enron loophole," 7 U.S.C. ?2(h)(3) and (g), which exempts most over-the-counter energy trades and trading on electronic energy commodity markets. The "loophole" was drafted by lobbyists for Enron working with senator Phil Gramm[3] seeking a deregulated atmosphere for their new experiment, "Enron On-line. to get this pass it was inserted in an Appropriations bill early evening of Friday, December 15, 2000, with Christmas break only hours away, the U.S. Senate rushed to pass an essential, 11,000-page government reauthorization bill. In what one legal textbook would later call ???a stunning departure from normal legislative practice,??? the Senate tacked on a complex, 262-page amendment at the urging of Texas Sen. Phil Gramm. (Texas Observer).

I guess the question is who checks the fact checkers in this NARRATIVE.

There was little debate on the floor. According to the Congressional Record, Gramm promised that the amendment???also known as the Commodity Futures Modernization Act???along with other landmark legislation he had authored, would usher in a new era for the U.S. financial services industry (Texas Observer).

The link below contains a purported list of the top 25 in Congress who got contributions from the folks at Fannie and Freddie. Obama is listed third, after Dodd and Kerry, even though Obama is just a junior Senator. Obama is followed next by Clinton. Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi are on the list as well.

Then there is the Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher J. Dodd who allegedly got special mortgage deals from Countrywide, who gave preferential rates to 'friends' of company's chairman.

The link below describes how some in Congress tried to use the original version of the bailout bill to divert money eventually recovered to groups like ACORN, a group Obama has a long association with. See:

    The Antichrist!:
When George Soros failed to obtain the election of his candidate, John Kerry, in 2004, he brooded for a while, even said he might get out of politics altogether, but he just couldn???t stop himself. He has stated publicly that he wishes to burst the ???bubble of American supremacy,??? because he says our preeminence in the world is a detriment to global ???equilibrium.??? So far, he has failed, but he keeps on trying.

And Mr. Soros has made no secret either of the fact that he sees the shortest way to effect political shake-ups, what he terms ???regime changes,??? is through very difficult economic conditions.

America has not yet felt the full force of Soros style economic shock treatment. But others have.

Soros made his first billion in 1992 by shorting the British pound with leveraged billions in financial bets, and became known as the man who broke the Bank of England. He broke it on the backs of hard-working British citizens who immediately saw their homes severely devalued and their life savings cut drastically in comparative worth almost overnight.

When the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997 threatened to spread globally, George Soros was right in the thick of it. Soros was accused by the Malaysian Prime Minister of causing the collapse with his monetary machinations, and he was branded in Thailand as an ???economic war criminal??? who ???sucks the blood from the people.??? Right in the middle of this crisis, Soros dashed off his book, The Crisis of Global Capitalism, which demanded a ???third way??? toward economic stability.

Wake up, America, before it is too late!!!!

The entire democratic campaign by Obama and his fellow leaders stink. I cant believe they are laying the blame game just so this clown can get elected. To throw salt onto a open cut, Obama is or will raise taxes and not add blue color jobs to this economy. He has made over the top comments and have not support the additional troop fund to supply funds to those fighting in the even suggesting our men and women are killing innocent civilians and this piece of ...... is suppose to be our president. I personally could never support such fifth and the public need to vote on character and experience. But if they vote on revenge then what they get is a man who will let his family live in a one room mud house in Africa while he lives in a MILLION DOLLAR HOUSE, pretending to be in a race of people he can ever be apart of. What a class act this will be.....Its just down right stupid if you look at the big picture...........Obama is a baffoon of a man and a week leader. If he was not the case he would address the claims of false voter registration with alcorn, and his ties to dirty politicans namely Rezko. At least his kids are too young to remember their father's dirty ways so they shouldn't feel asheme................Prick

Thank you for a fair and impartial look at this issue. As an independant the sheer hatred and misinformation we have seen lately from TV, to radio, to the internet is inexcusable. The reality is, those in power need us to bicker with one another, otherwise we may just hold them responsible for thier behavior. I can't believe I am saying this, but the only two people in Washington with a clue seem to be Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul. Come on my fellow taxpayers, lets hold everyone accountable, not just "thier guy"

Words matter. Mr Raines (Obama's advisor)...wow ...he walked away with nearly one hundred million dollars!

After Clinton's move in 1999, this whole mess can be laid at the feet of Democratic ideology.

Oh please, it was Gramm, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the Commodity Futures Modernization Act, and President Bush forcing everyone to look the other way.
