Conservatives and Republicans are always whining about the "liberal media" and "Hollywood liberals so its nice to see a conservative finally putting his money where his mouth is. As for the war, does Zucker believe we should have just gone to war against any country after 9/11. What does Iraq have to do with 9/11?

    • Posted By: FATJOEY @ 10/02/2008 3:32:31 PM

      iraq's muslim arn't they?

      • Posted By: Braes @ 10/02/2008 4:13:27 PM

If you want to kill all of the Muslims in the world, go on a private Genocide. You are an Osama too.

  • Posted By: rogerhall @ 10/02/2008 2:37:01 PM

Dotcha love how Republicans think they are the Jesus bunch and then openly mock "turning to the other cheek"? BTW - they aren't trying to "kill all of us". They are trying to communicate with an arrogant power who refuses to listen. That's what terrorism has always been used for, and "9/11" didn't change that.

    • Posted By: Braes @ 10/02/2008 4:10:46 PM

Also brilliant. (I am rarely a praise factory, but yours here and above are both correct.)
Terrorism is a methodology, and can not be defeated. Terrorism can not sign a peace treaty.
It is not a sentient being. Our leadership has used agit-phrases in the place of actual strategy. I still remember "Stay the Course." and Bush delivering it to cheering crowds.

  • Posted By: spjon @ 10/02/2008 4:04:49 PM

Wow. If 9/11 is the reason you flipped then you're just a wimp. Loser.

What ever happened to "Give me Liberty or give me death" We have become a nation of whimps. We can't destroy our values out of fear of terrorists.

Another chickenhawk Republican who is afraid of Muslims.

  • Posted By: avtrinity @ 10/02/2008 3:51:09 PM

He and Dennis Miller can go stroke each other. For all those who just realized after 9/11 that we have enemies are idiots, conservative and liberal alike. I knew we had enemies, but I am not moronic enough to follow a fool in believing that our enemies migrated from the protective homestead of Afghanistan to the not so welcoming confines of Saddam's Iraq. Bush Idiot Jr. just wanted to show of to daddy that he can blow things up too. Unfortunately the rest of the week kneed public were all to ready to follow suit. thank you all for your support of our wonderful president. He has left us in such a wonderful position.

I'm all for comedy - anything to project a little relief into these difficult times. And I haven't seen the movie, so I can't commment on whether or not it's funny. But as a liberal, I observe that some of us manage to take ourselves a little too seriously. Michael Moore is not perfect, and both "Fahrenheit 9/11" and "Sicko" had some parts that were both over-the-top and inaccurate. If he can't stand the heat...

So if we can't handle a little satire, we need to get a life, or at least a thicker skin. We have freedome of speech in this country for a reason.

But I feel sorry for Mr. Zucker if he 9/11 was his wake-up call - extremists on all sides, and that includes the home-grown ones right here in the good ol' U.S. of A., are not our friends, and haven't been for some time. So either he wasn't paying atttention, or he was in the process of switching sides anyway, and just uses 9/11 as a convenient excuse.

Speaking as a Liberal (note the capital "L"), I can't imagine being offended by David Zucker's new film, regardless of political slant. This is partly because I firmly support his First Ammendment right to express his opinion, and partly because I'm not so thin-skinned that I can't take a joke. The movie makes fun of people like me? So what? All that means is that Zucker gets to make a little money, and my fellow liberals have to be a little bit wittier to win hearts and minds. I have confidence that they will.

    Respectfully yours,

    Robert A. Ogden II

Let me guess sven, your car radio has stations preset to the AM hate radio stations and when you are home your run Fox "News" Entertainment Channel non-stop.

I'm afraid you don't understand what propoganda means.

Is it American sad or American enterprising for someone to find a way to make money from the deleterious divisions that are the legacy of this campaign.

We had a chance to heal ourselves with competent bi-partisan options, but instead we chose an inexperienced paint by numbers hologram of a candidate iconic solely of innumerable sorts of division and a dessicated taxidermied relic of the status quo.

It says everything horrible about us that we'll probably find half the truths that underlie satire in a spoof on Michael Moore. Just a new way of shooting the messenger instead of indicting the irresponsible.

instead of working to fix them with candidates we will surely regret tossing aside.

If Nero fiddled while Rome burned, why should we settle for snickering when New York already has.

This movie might be funny . But this ludicrous campaign is the real travesty of folly..
What else could I possibly write on the day of the Biden -Palin debate. Even Jonathan Swift could not have conjured up anything that distressingly revealing about us.

Good grief, guys, it's just a freaking movie!

    • Posted By: rogerhall @ 10/02/2008 3:14:02 PM

And more importantly, it's not even about liberalism. It???s a movie about how right-wingers don't understand liberalism, with gags, shtick, and a catchy (albeit unchallenging) soundtrack.

  • Posted By: hankthehorrible @ 10/02/2008 2:01:15 PM

It is funny, no doubt. What I see is a liberal complaint of "dirty politics" coming out of this. Funny, liberals, for all their "tolerance" & "peaceful means" are by far the most intolerant & most disruptive when the 2 sides get together for a discussion. I see this @ UCSB. But I have to be honest here, the liberal contingent I speak of IS the loony left. (Sheehan, Code Pink, Daily Kos, et al). The REAL liberals are the ones who, for example, stood behing Joe Liebermann back in 2006 after the loony left tried to oust him. For all it's worth, this is for fun & if the liberal contingent can't take it, well, too bad. We've had to deal w/ Michael Moore's dribble for how many years now? It is clearly going to be a case can "can dish it out, but can't take it" & it is as simple as that

    • Posted By: rogerhall @ 10/02/2008 2:45:18 PM

As if everyone is sitting at home worried that someone might attack Michael Moore ... this movie is as important to "liberals" as "facts" are to the Bush administration.

  • Posted By: elka2008 @ 10/02/2008 2:35:58 PM

Obviously this film will appeal to the weak minded. From the comments I've read here :all muslims hold christians responsible for the crusades, liberals are morons.. the usual swearing and lack of intelectual Zucker knows his audience. And sicne when does Iraq have ANYTHING to do with 9/11? Thousands of soldiers killed there in a war that should have never been- THOSE DEATHS MAKE THE TERRORISTS HAPPY, because they are deaths without a purpose or meaning- meanwhile there is a resuragence int eh Taliban in Afghanastan, the place we should have been completley focused on from the begining. What is equally appalling is how this presidency has labeled those who question it's motives as unamerican and unpatriiotic- how this presidency has managed to make blind unquestioning followers out of so many of it's citizens-citizens who tun on fellow countrymen and demand they shut up if they don't support the goverment 100 percent. SOunds an awful lot like iron curtain countries, dictatorships and neo nazism rather than America. And that's how the terrorists are winning, not by physically killing us, but by causing some of us to proudly, under the guise of patriotism, kill the very meaning of this country.

  • Posted By: elka2008 @ 10/02/2008 2:25:16 PM

`They' are not in Iraq. Had Bush focused on Afghanastan it would be a different story-but now we have thousands of soldioers dead in a war that should have never been and that is what makes the terrorists happy. Meanwhile, the Taliban has made a resurgeance in Afghanastan. Wht's just as scary is the way some in this country swear blind allegiance to it's leaders, ac cusing fellow citizens of being un-American and non patriotic for daring to voice a differing viewpoint, for daring to question. Sounds an awful lot like a communist regime-silence the protesters.

Meanwhile, those whio support the war in Iraq rail against anyone in America who questions it-they call us unamerican and unpatriotic-teoll us to shut up. Soubnds an awful lot like what happened in nazi and communist countries. same mind thought, same sort of blind, nonm questioning alliegence to the leaders.

(Response to tbourlon): I thought it was George Bush who said, "I love America, that's why I want to destroy it." Let's face it, things are gloomier now than shortly after 9-11. I don't think fear of those trying to kill us should set our political agenda. It has and now we have turned on ourselves. Conservatives have villified liberals (whatever that terms means) to the same degree as islamic fundamentalists. Maybe the time for hysteria should come to an end so we can think straight again.

(Responding to tbourlon): I thought it was Georige Bush who said, "I love America and I want to destroy it." He certainly is close to success! I don't think fear of the people who want to kill us should set our political agenda. Look what that's done. It's turned us against ourselves.

"There are only two kinds of Muslims, those that hate all Jews and Ifidels and those who support the 1st kind"

There are only two kinds of Jews, ones who take money from dumb American Christians to send to Israel, and the ones who use that money to kill Arab Christians and Muslims.

See, I can make uninformed, racist, biased comments too!
