The American Democrat - Misguided and Blind and Full of Hate - No other country in the World can a person Like Palin be plucked from the far NW and be asked to run for the VP of the United States - Like her or not - The OPPORTUNITY is beyond words ??? Yet, like I always say - To Republicans, Every day is the 4th of JULY and to the DEMS its always April the 15th

I've done lots of theater work. And guess what...I could memorize material and deliver it convincingly in front of cameras and a live audience too. But I'm certainly not qualified to be VP!

Sarah Did Awesome! She kicked that moron Biden's A$$ !!! Funniest thing I've ever seen. Say it isn't so Joe! haha!

Biden voted for 1999 deregulation that liberal groups are blaming for part of the financial crisis. The law allowed Wall Street investment banks to create the kind of mortgage-related securities at the core of the problem now.
Biden Said McCain supports tax breaks for oil companies, and "wants to give them another $4 billion tax cut."
Biden is repeating a favorite saw of the Obama campaign, and it's misleading. McCain supports a cut in income taxes for all corporations, and doesn't single out any one industry for that benefit.
During the debate, Biden said, "Oh, on clean coal. My record, just take a look at the record!. My record for 25 years has supported clean coal technology." .... However, during an early campaign stop once he was announced as VP Candidate, Biden said, "No coal plants here in America. if they???re going to build them, over there [China]. Make them clean. We???re not supporting clean coal." . One of the most upsetting lines last night in the debate was Biden's attempt to say that he didn't know he was voting on a War resolution? I'm sorry but someone who has been in the Senate since I was in kindergarten didn't know he was voting on a War resolution when he voted on the Iraq War! let me ask you people does he think we are stupid? or is he just stupid ? either way if a seasoned senator doesn't know when he's voting on a war resolution we have bigger problems in Washington then we know! and we certainly do not need a VP like that sitting with an inexperienced president ! if you think things are unstable now wait and see what will happen if God Forbid Obama and Biden get to the White House????????? Sarah Palin did great last night. She was able to manipulate the debate by bringing the talking points back to the issues that she wanted to talk about to the American people McCain / Palin will be a breath of fresh air for this country and will make a great president and vice president. The age of Obama will end November 4th

You know of course the minute you use terms like "messiah" you lose all credibility. It actually, in your life's picture, depicts low morals, standards and humanity. In all likelihood, you know less than Ms. Palin.

I usually enjoy all of Newsweeks articles, but I was really dissapointed to see that this entire article was about her being a woman in politics. The questions that were asked to her were unappropriate and would NEVER had been asked to a man. This is a stong, fierce, accompliced, educated GOVERNOR and she should be treated (and interviewed) as such.

For the first time ever-- thumbs down, Newsweek.

It took her 6 years for Sarah Palin to graduate college from a variety of community schools...I think our definition of EDUCATION for the VP of the United States should be set slightly higher. We deserve more than this.

    Let's Get Ready to Rumble!!
I feel for Palin though... I think I figured out why Palin is having trouble with the press and etc. It's because <<1>>. she has no experience in the subjects they are requesting and therefore she is trying to "create" a reason why she is qualified so the GOP doesn't get hurt. <<2>> the GOP "WANTS HER TO LIE" (like on the campaign trail- just with no teleprompter) - and of course as we can see, she is a terrible liar....(she always seems to get caught as well)

I agree. I think she is very intellegent but very naive and uninformed to qualify for VP.

      • Posted By: ExhibitA @ 10/03/2008 3:21:57 PM

Male or female, it does not matter. Sarah Palin is not qualified to be the VP of the United States. Winking to the camera and giving "shout outs" were not what the American people needed last night ... we deserved answers to the questions she was asked, which she could rarely provide.

      • Posted By: ExhibitA @ 10/03/2008 3:19:19 PM

It doesn't matter....male or female...Sarah Palin is not qualified to be the VP of the United States and that was confirmed once again last night. Winking at the camera and giving "shout outs" is not what we the American people needed....we needed answers to the questions she was asked which she rarely could provide.

The bar was set low enough that Sarah Palin tripped over it last night. Any objective observer, not privy to the bar-lowering circumstances of the last two weeks , would have wondered what this light -weight was doing on the stage with a real statesman. Sticking as best she could to almost memorized generic scripts (if they mention Iran, say this....) , snippets of stump speeches, and sarcastic attack lines, Paliln was helpless whenever an unexpected topic showed up. She just ignored those questions and reverted to the stump speech or rambling beauty pageant style word fill. Except for when she talked about energy (even when it had nothing to do with the question) or education, she showed no real depth or breadth of understanding of the topic. Lucky for her the McCain Camp would only agree to a format which did not allow her answers to be challenged. This wasn't a debate so much as a pop quiz.
Biden, by contrast, showed a thorough and a deep understanding of all topics and the ability to clearly articulate that understanding. Unfortunately his intelligence will be held against him by the Joe six-pack constituency who are hell-bent on putting another dummy in the White House.

Dick Cheney notwithstanding, and discounting the very slim chance that the "heart beat away" will become relevant an any first term, remember what the real job is that Palin and Biden are campaigning for. The vice presidency has been more a target for jokes and ridicule than a sought-after job. George Clinton, who became Thomas Jefferson's Vice President in 1805, called the job a "respectable retirement," after 18 years as Governor of New York. In 1848, Senator Daniel Webster turned down an offer to be Zachary Taylor's vice-presidential running mate, saying, "I do not propose to be buried until I am really dead." And John Nance Garner, Franklin D. Roosevelt's Vice President for his first two terms (1933-41), said the job wasn't worth a bucket of warm spit. (Actually, he used a cruder word than that.) John Adams, the country's first Vice President, famously called it "the most insignificant office." Al Gore described the job as that of "the nation's mourner," as one of his main functions was to attend the funerals of deceased world leaders and dignitaries. And McCain correctly stated that the constitutional duties of the job were to cast votes in the Senate in the rare case of a tie and to enquire every morning as to the health of the President, a fairly accurate description. In fact, from a Constitutional perspective, the VP has no other duties or powers. You hear it said in the news all the time: people vote for the top of the ticket.

The media is making more of it this time because they think it works for Obama by distracting from his own total lack of experience. Problem is, as both H. Clinton and J. Biden pointed out, with Obama, that lack of experience is out of control on day one. Indeed, as Biden stated when addressing Obama's total lack of qualifications, "the Presidency does not lend itself to on the job training." But Palin is not running for the Presidency, and according to Walter Mondale, the VP slot does in fact amount to on the job training. As Mondale, Carter's VP, once notably said when subsequently running for the Presidency, "I learned an awful lot as Vice President that I didn't know as a Senator."

      "Here comes the lie".

The party line is great, but what about the Rep candidate blowing up his own ship? Still. Never the truth.

      • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 10/02/2008 7:53:38 PM

The Reps will blame Obama and camp for their losses....even some of the red states that are now into play..GA. MS.,TN.,MO. and perhaps even AZ.

Your comment on Obama's experience is right on, just look at the inexperienced guy we elected president in 2000. This is why Cheney was chosen as his running mate and became the power behind his presidency. But wait, there is a difference here. Dubya is slightly retarded and can attribute everything he has to his father and grandfather while Obama is a self made intelligent man.

Back to the article of this thread -- similarities between Granholm and Palin do end with having kids in sports and being female governors. Granholm has not done anything positive for her state. Her approval rating is less than half of Palin's. Thank goodness she can not run again!

Why do ppl drive around w/ those bumper sticker about "how proud they are that their kid is Blah, Blah, Blah"...

Joe Biden displayed tonight why Team ObamaBiden is winning over America's voters. He did an exceptional job tonight informing the American people both his knowledge and understanding of our nation's economic problems and misguided foreign policy abroad. He did so in a manner that connected well with America's struggling middle-class, and he wasn't afraid to use the term, unlike his opponent who could barely mutter the words. While Palin stood her ground and survived the debate, Biden effectively made the case of why McCain is bad for America , and firmly rebuked Palin's assertions that McCain's 90% support of Bush and his support of Big Oil and tax cuts for the wealthy will not amount to any change i=should they get elected. After watching 2 debates now, it's quite clear Obama- Biden have the more effective plan for CHANGE.

PAT BUCANNON SHOULD GO TO WORK FOR FOXSNEWS SINCE HE APPEARS TO BE IN FAVOR OF THE REPUBLICANS BY HIS OUTRAGEOUS CONCLUSION THAT PALIN WON THE DEBATE BASED ON HIS OPINION.

IT IS QUITE CLEAR THAT BUCANNON DOES NOT LOOK AT THE FACTS OF THE DEBATE: HE HAS A PREDETERMINED MIND SET DUE TO HIS PREFERENCE. IT IS TRUE THAT THE CONDUCT AND BEHAVIOR WILL RELFECT WHAT IS IN YOUR HEART, MIND, AND SOUL. AND PAT B. HAS SHOWN IT-IN MY OPINION, HE IS FOR THE REPUBLICANS AND SHOULD WORK FOR THE REPUBLICANS AT FOXNEWS. HELL NO, PALIN NO! BIDEN WON THE DEBATE: LOOK AT THE POLLS YOU FOOL (PAT B.A)!

  • Posted By: rockye @ 10/03/2008 12:22:19 AM

MAVERICKS OR PIGS WITH LIPSTICK, THE PALIN-McCAIN TICKET TO NOWHERE ARE STILL MORE OF THE SAME. THE AMERICAN VOTERS WILL NOT BE FOOLED, NOT EVEN AFTER THE DEBATE. PALIN CANNOT CONNECT WITH THE AMERICAN VOTERS BECAUSE SHE IS MORE OF THE SAME.

THIS IS A FUNDAMENTAL FACT THAT CANNOT BE CHANGED BY DISGUISING THEMSELVES AS SHEEP AND PRETENDING TO BE WANA-BE DEMOCRATS. IT IS STUPID OF PALIN TO TALK IN DEBATE ABOUT CARING FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS WHEN THE REPUBLICAN PART WAS THE PARTY THAT DELT THEM A RAW DEAL. THEY CREATED THE CRISIS AND NOW THEY WANT TO PROPOSE THE SOLUTION BY FIXING THINGS. THE CRISIS NEEDS TO BE SOLVED, NOT FIXED AS McCAIN HAS SAID.

THE RICH WILL ALWAYS STICK WITH THE RICH AND BECOME RICHER IF LEFT IN POWER. IT IS TIME TO REVERSE THE LAW OF CONSERVATION OF WEALTH AND POWER IN FAVOR OF THE MIDDLE CLASS AND THOSE IN NEED.

WHAT? WHO WON THE DEBATE? BIDEN WON! VOTE DEMOCRAT: WHEN THE DEMOCRATS WIN, THE PEOPLE WIN!

    Yay.

Her party is responsible for 98.9994653% of all our problems today. Period.

She must've said maverick 20 times and didn't even know the commanding generals correct name.

She's a hack. Bush in a skirt, cept Bush is probably smarter.

    Yeah, scary.....................I know.

Pia1981. The link below contains a purported list of the top 25 in Congress who got contributions from the folks at Fannie and Freddie. Obama is listed third, after Dodd and Kerry, even though Obama is just a junior Senator. Obama is followed next by Clinton. Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi are on the list as well.

For an interesting article purporting to detail Barney Franks long history with Fannie Mae, See http://www.businessandmedia.org/printer/2008/20080924145932.aspx

I see that these Democrats have been really bad and that this whole economic mess was caused by the failure of Fannie and Freddie and their Democratic friends. I'm sure all of the other bank failures were also, in some way the result of Democratic policies and that all of the Republican politicians have no connection with any of these failed institutions. Just look at ENRON, there was absolutely no connection between Kenny Boy and Dubya. Thanks for enlightening me.
