No, even $700 billion won't be enough. But despite the size of the bailout, the United States still rules the markets.

    OBAMA: THE AFFIRMATIVE ACTIONS CANDIDATE!

NEVER IN THE HISTORY OF THIS COUNTRY HAS A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE BEEN GIVEN SUCH A FREE PASS BY THE PRESS AND JUST ABOUT EVERYONE ELSE!

I AM WAITING FOR A BLACK PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE TO MAKE IT ON HIS OWN MERIT.

    COLIN POWELL COMES TO MIND!

Obama, the one you can trust! The American people are like leeches on the government. They can no longer think for themselves. They can no longer take care of themselves. They need to be bottle fed and have their diapers changed. Obama is their savior, their Messiah. They can no longer fight for their freedoms. They must succumb to the beautiful words of promise and hope from Obama. He will make their lives great and trouble free. He will make us one world with no bounderies. Everyone will be equal. There will never be rich people or poor people again. We will all be middle class. That is where the world is headed and we will be the first to get there. All medical help and medicine will be socialized. The government will lead the people down the rosey path to hell. The people will serve the mighty leader, Obama. He controls all human activities and tells us were and when to go. He will tell us what to drive and when to drive. He will tell us where to set our thermostats in our houses. He will tell us the kind of food we must eat. He will create the perfect society, the perfect human race. We will never want again. He will provide everything we need. If we are without, he will make the neighbors share with us. He will insure that everyone will have something to eat and something to wear. He will be the guiding light to our future. We will all be happy and full of joy because Obama says we are. He will control our attitudes and provide us with hope that he will always make things better for us. Life could not be easier or better. He will look out for us. Put your full trust in him and he will deliver. He is the almighty, the Messiah, and the keeper of the people. We will get on out knees and worship him and the ground he walks on. We will never want anything again because he will make everything readily available to us. He has the answer to all our problems and our shortcomings. He will forgive us for our misdeeds and make us whole again. May our new God have mercy on our souls and bless our new kingdom; Obamanation! Always remember that you will have the Quran to fall back on, to read, and to enjoy! Always keep it near you and always look into the eyes of Obama in the pictures that will be provided to you. The pictures will always remind you who your savior is and to whom you will owe your great life. Teach your children and grandchildren to worship the man in the picure and they will always remain wholesome and happy! He will always show them the path to follow to become a great person like him! They must idolize him if they expect to be blessed. And, be sure to pat yourself on the back for choosing the Messiah and giving your children and grandchildren the security and wellness the Messiah has to offer. Always keep your Quran and his picture next to your bed and close to your heart and you will be happy forever! Brothers and sisters, I love you, and we will be together as one forever and ever!

Who played the financial markets to crash down for Obama's favor? THE TIMING WAS VERY CRITICAL. Right when Mccain was in the lead. How many "international " investors were involved? who is bent to make Barack Husein Obama the POTUS? fIRST THEY PLAYED THE energy crisis. WE beat them. Then they withdrew their holdings and support for our fianancial system. "AMERICA had it coming". WE entertained all these back stabbers who were more than ready to pull the money away from wall street market. All so legally. Govt had to step in to stop the short sale of uSA. YOu liberals who play with antiamerican terrorist coutries, we will let you know you also hold the other end of this stick.

"Not all Democrats agree with Mr. Frank that such policies are off-limits to criticism. Last week Rep. Artur Davis of Alabama said in a statement: 'Like a lot of my Democratic colleagues I was too slow to appreciate the recklessness of Fannie and Freddie. I defended their efforts to encourage affordable homeownership, when in retrospect, I should have heeded the concerns raised by their regulator in 2004. Frankly, I wish my Democratic colleagues would admit when it comes to Fannie and Freddie, we were wrong.'

"Mr. Davis is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus."

    'Rank snobbery'

Camille Paglia, who supports Sen. Barack Obama, has nothing but scorn for the way the media has treated Sarah Palin.

"The mountain of rubbish poured out about Palin over the past month would rival Everest. What a disgrace for our jabbering army of liberal journalists and commentators, too many of whom behaved like snippy jackasses," Miss Paglia writes at www.salon.com.

"The bourgeois conventionalism and rank snobbery of these alleged humanitarians stank up the place. As for Palin's brutally edited interviews with Charlie Gibson and that viper, Katie Couric, don't we all know that the best bits ended up on the cutting-room floor? Something has gone seriously wrong with Democratic ideology, which seems to have become a candied set of holier-than-thou bromides attached like tutti-frutti to a quivering green Jell-O mold of adolescent sentimentality."

    The Antichrist!:
When George Soros failed to obtain the election of his candidate, John Kerry, in 2004, he brooded for a while, even said he might get out of politics altogether, but he just couldn???t stop himself. He has stated publicly that he wishes to burst the ???bubble of American supremacy,??? because he says our preeminence in the world is a detriment to global ???equilibrium.??? So far, he has failed, but he keeps on trying.

And Mr. Soros has made no secret either of the fact that he sees the shortest way to effect political shake-ups, what he terms ???regime changes,??? is through very difficult economic conditions.

America has not yet felt the full force of Soros style economic shock treatment. But others have.

Soros made his first billion in 1992 by shorting the British pound with leveraged billions in financial bets, and became known as the man who broke the Bank of England. He broke it on the backs of hard-working British citizens who immediately saw their homes severely devalued and their life savings cut drastically in comparative worth almost overnight.

When the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997 threatened to spread globally, George Soros was right in the thick of it. Soros was accused by the Malaysian Prime Minister of causing the collapse with his monetary machinations, and he was branded in Thailand as an ???economic war criminal??? who ???sucks the blood from the people.??? Right in the middle of this crisis, Soros dashed off his book, The Crisis of Global Capitalism, which demanded a ???third way??? toward economic stability.

Wake up, America, before it is too late!!!!

China only advantage - they have very chip labor force. Disadvantage - everything else.
EU advantage - low defence spending. Disadvantage - too much socialism (and worse technology as a result), muslim population, human rights abuse.
Russia advantage/disadvantge - being fairly viewed by neighbors as barbarians threatening to blow up themselves and the world, unless they are fed well.
US advantage - technology, $, imported scientific brains. Disadvantage poor school education, tendency to elect idiots (from both parties) when everything looks good and then blaming those idiots instead of themselves. Unfortunately, bad times came too late now, so the best voters can do this cicle is to replace idiot with a moron. For years, then.

Wrong . Russia advantage: to have something everyone else needs, to have the brains to sell it for a REAL price, and to have the force to dissuade everyone to steal it...

The U.S. still rules the markets? In what sense exactly? This country's economic growth over the past decade was primarily driven by consumer consumption (70% of GDP), which itself was funded through ever-increasing debt, which has now imploded. Taxpayers are now saddled with financing the bailout to the tune of $2.3K for every man, woman and child. That's on top of the almost $10K in credit card debt that the typical American owes. So who is going to finance America's future economic growth, i.e., consumer consumption? Foreign investors? Foreign lenders? Think again, because they are not as dumb and gullible as Americans think they are, and the market will soon be priced to reflect the high risk of doing business in America.

This is one of the first positive news I have read in such a long time. The media, with its mighty influence on every facet of our lives, has a huge responsibilty in reporting not just the bad news but also the POSITIVES of our systems in America.

Sure, irresponsible borrowing and lending practices, unsatiable consumerism and nil savings have brought us here. Too much negative news that promoted fear and loss of confidence in our financial systems are the underlying causes of this credit crisis. All these bad deeds from home borrowers, to mortgage brokers, to banks and wall street, however, horrendous they were, are all done in the past. What do we do now? Where do we go from here?

We have to focus on moving forward, working on actual solutions instead of dwelling on the problems. The government should have the guts and the balls to restore order by making top executives accountable for the irresponsible financial decisions they have made, ie Enron, especially when handling other people's money. The government should also begin investigations from these top executives, down to the greedy mortgage brokers who pushed questionable loans, and irresponsible home buyers who lied on their loan applications.

When the government begins hold people accountable for their actions, it signals not just in America, but to the whole world that we do not tolerate abuse of our systems. And because we protect our financial systems, everybody else can be rest assured that their monies and investments are protected too. Restoring confidence and some sense of certainty are very crucial in these times.

All of us Americans, should begin to look inward to ourselves, and see if we truly need to buy that extra fridge in the garage, or that extra plasma tv for the bedroom. In our own little way, we should begin to save, save, save, for a rainy day. We should demand from our government to be fiscally responsible and reduce expenditures. We should demand from our government to reduce our reliance on borrowed money. Only when we are financially and economically in the "black" can we truly be an influential and great nation. I LOVE AMERICA, there is no other country on earth like ours, let us not grind our country to the ground. It starts with personal accountabilty and responsibilty, we owe this to our great nation.

Underregulation did not get us into this mess. AOL congress got us into this mess. Instead of hearings on payback for Clinton impeachment, where was the hearings on the policy of loaning money to peopl who can't pay it back and back it by the government? The next bust will come, like the last one, because congress does not do its job.

The article starts by underscoring Kenneth Rogoff's view on how much this mess is going to cost. I agreeGthat no other economy comes close to where America has been and is even today. But how does Mr. Hirsh see us getting to where we need to go? Who's paying? With what consequences? And having gotten fat, rich and happy by borrowing and spending our future (which is always available to borrow form and damn the consequences....), do we have the nerve to do what this will take?

Even before Ahmadinejad said it, I have been telling my wife (instead of just myself) that George W. and his insane war-like swagger that resulted in the Iraq war has started the fall of the American "empire" in the tradition of the Roman of old. Pity our dear country and civilization, but we are seeing the dominoes falling now.
