How about Biden's claim that Obama never promised to meet with Ahmadinejad when he was on the same stage with him at the time? You missed that beaut

People who actually think there is something to discuss, it's not about accuracy. It's about competency and having a knowledge base that allows an individual to support the President in the capacity of Vice President. Governor Palin is being discussed as though she were a potential person to lead as a default if God forbid McCain were elected and unable to fulfill his term. President Bush has already demonstrated it is not possible to lead when one has no intellectual capacity to live up to the position. Why is the media playing along?

I thought Gov. Palin did fine enough. She spoke clearly on the points she had been prepared on, and avoided topics she hadn't, which was fine; did i think she was dancing around her weaknesses?Sure, but thats not a huge fault, it's basic politics; highlight your strengths, downplay your weaknesses. The fact that she is a skiled communicator in the medium of the televised debate is clear. There was something that came through last night though, and it's not a fault, but a fundemental truth that was inevitable: When you assess Gov. Sarah Palin, you don't see a President of the United States of America. Mind you, she's very good at what she does best, but the times where she produces the "wink and a smile" lines, you see a person that doesn't belong in the role she is being asked to fill. When you see Joe Biden, regardless of your political leaning, you see a person with the poise and demeanor to stand in the role he is filling; when America looks at Sarah Palin, they see a woman they like, but not a person they feel comfortable with leading the nation. Im not going to pretend that it has nothing to do with gender, because in her case it is a factor, and her presentation doesn't ring Presidential. Again, politics aside; when you viewed Hillary Clinton, the femininity did not register, you just saw a calculating and cold politician. With Sarah Palin, you are all to aware of the fact that you are looking at a woman who relies heavily on her charm to compensate for her flaws, and thats not going to work for the voters looking for a leader they believe can stand tall in the role of President.

It was frustrating to watch Biden make distortion after distortion and have an opponent who had no idea he was even doing it. It is equally frustrating that this article points out only a portion of the distortions Biden presented. At least Palin (who generally stayed away from substantive claims anyway) based her assertions on some kind of facts with spin. Biden didn't even have any basis for claiming McCain voted a certain way when he didn't. Why doesn't this article call out Biden on the claim that it was the Bush policy of deregulation that got us into this mess when it was Barney Franks, Chris Dodds, Maxine Waters and their democrat friends who were the most outspoken opponents of increased regulation and scrutiny of the GSEs? What about Biden's claim that "95% of americans making less than 250 will get [tax decreases]" Less than 67% of americans have any tax liability at all!!

Palin once again demonstrated her utter lack of substance. So what that she can memorize her talking points and can shuck-and-jive in the best George W tradition? She is the most unreflective, unprepared VP candidate I've seem in the forty years I've been voting and her very presence on the GOP ticket means I suspect McCain's judgment and I'm yet another Republican voting over an empty party affiliation for Obama and Biden.

I never seriously intended to vote for McCain but last night's debacle makes me want to ring doorbells for Obama. Palin's pseudo-folksy "You betcha's" and cutesy winks almost made me throw up. You have to give Palin credit though, for daring to show up with zero ideas and an ability to recite canned platitudes from her notes. We were wrong....she really CAN walk and chew gum ay the same time. God help us if she ever gets closer than a mile of the Oval Office.

We should not be fooled by Palin's Acting/ sparring abilities (although she had her Notes with her) to sucessfully weave and bob and her canny ability not to answer questions she does not like in contradiction to her being able to answer intelligently complex questions on the spot! It seems as if she feels the American people have no need to be given intelligent, thoughtful answers to the pressing questions of today, and that we would rather be winked at and called hockey moms and Joe Sixpacks while our economy is in ruins! We need our candidates to present truth, not lies and talking points of lies which have nothing to do with reality. We have been lied too enough in this country. We need leaders who are of high moral character and who think their word is thier bond.

Starting to question McCain's mental fitness

McCain's interviews have become increasingly angry, hostile and unhinged. He seems to be on the verge of some kind of mental collapse. A big part of McCain's erratic behavior is due to Obama having gotten deep, deep, deep inside his head. If McCain's brain was x-rayed, it would reveal Obama sitting comfortably upon McCain's cerebral peduncles. But, it is more than that. I believe McCain's increasing instability is being caused by the stress of the campaign and his 72 year old body not being able to get the rest that it requires to function properly. That isn't ageism???that is a simple fact of life. I wondered how McCain, being in advanced years, would respond under the grueling pace of a general election. I think we are all beginning to find out and it really isn't a pretty site. He is on the verge of some kind of mental collapse.

Joe Biden is only 6 years younger than John McCain, are you also concerned for him?

  • Posted By: We Need to Check Newsweek 'facts' again @ 10/03/2008 12:58:08 PM

NEWSWEEK needs to check ???facts???... do you really think that all families have two parents on the scene and file as "married" on their taxes? When did a family require two parents and two children in the household? Do you know of any single parents who raise a family? I sure do, and you probably do too.

Many single-parent ???families??? make well over $45k a year and would have struggled to deal with the increase that Obama voted for - Palin is correct, Newsweek is wrong. Shameful that we have to check the fact checking articles from Newsweek, but that is not a surprise when they continually sensationalize and influence rather than report facts. I know??? facts can be boring, but at least try.

Newsweek clearly messed up and we can all see it, now how much else can we believe? Newsweek should immediately rewrite the article (and not pay the reporters for the garbage article), or lose credibility.

Obama to purge FBI. "The FBI has for too long been an effective arm of law enforcement" said the candidate in Indianapolis today.

Biden's plastic surgeon is on the run and may have left the country. Dr. Michael Talmud was last seen leaving his apartment on Central Park West last night. He is facing federal charges for disfiguring a national monument.

Polls have Biden as the clear winning, yet some commentators are Cushing over Palin like Fox news. I thought there was a liberal media conspiracy. She was the worst debater in modern Presidential history, yet several journalist are still singer her praise despite the polls. What liberal media conspiracy?

She's a better looking version of Bush. Period.

  • Posted By: TruthForward @ 10/03/2008 11:03:50 AM

Joe Biden didn't run from any questions. He was solid, straight forward, and knowledgeable.

However, Palin was "running away" a lot. She could not defend McCain in some instances, because she is not sure she believes in McCain. And the moderator, did not do follow up questions, because it was obvious that Palin cannot handle follow up questions. I'm sure McCain is telling Palin to just obey him.
