    Is it "culture" in the traditiion of our founding-fathers such as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, as well as Ronald Reagan??

    Sarah Palin does not have the monopoly on what it means to be a Christian. She is not a Christian role model. She does not walk the Christian walk. She can talk the talk... she can parrot the talking points. But there is no depth there.

    What kind of "Christian" goes around in over-the-top expensive clothes claiming to be one of the common people? Jesus talked about these kinds of hypocrites.

    "Religious, down to earth values..." Whoever is buying that deserves what they get from phonies like Sarah Palin. Since when does being a Christian involve lying, insulting others, and inciting violence? When does being a Christian involve rousing people up in a "culture war?"

    And the firing of that head of the State Patrol really shows how "ethically challenged" Sarah Palin is. The safety of her state depends partly on confidence in their law enforcement. Why in the world was she unable to "turn the other cheek" with that petty issue? Does she not understand what is at stake when she publicly demeans law enforcement professionals and lies about them? Do we really want someone with such spite and lack of vision running our country? Or, as she puts it "running the Sentate"?

    As a woman, an American, AND a Republican, I'm embarrassed about Sarah Palin. She's a sign of how low people will sink to get votes. The issues of the culture war are dividing us and it breaks my heart.

    I'm voting for Obama. I don't care if I'm "ex-communicated." I don't care if "I'm dead" to the party. So be it.

    With polls showing a tightening race for the White House, it looks like the Catholic vote again may be crucial to the outcome.
    And an Oct. 23 poll records a startling 20-point swing this week among Catholic voters in favor of John McCain.
    The IBD/TIPP daily tracking poll found Republican candidate McCain ahead of Democratic presidential candidate 48%-39% among the Catholics in its survey.
    The shift was part of a strong overall swing toward McCain in the IBD/TIPP poll.
    ???McCain has cut into Obama???s lead for a second day and is now just 1.1 points behind. The spread was 3.7 Wednesday and 6.0 Tuesday,??? a press release stated. ???The Republican is making headway with middle- and working- class voters, and has surged 10 points in two days among those earning between $30,000 and $75,000. He has also gone from an 11-point de???cit to a 9-point lead among Catholics.???

    Hear Obama in 2001 Chicago Public Citizen Radio Interview criticizing the Warren Court as not radical enough for not pursuing redistribution of wealth.

    Obama Says that community organizing is for the purpose of assembling the political power to force redistribution of wealth.

    How sad that in the final weeks of the campaign the best the McCain campaign can come up with is labeling Obama "a socialist." That's not just a whiff of desperation I'm smelling, but an all-out stench. Certainly Sen. Joseph McCarthy would be proud if he were here to witness all of this twisting of words and guilt by association. Fortunately, most reasonable thinking Americans are too smart to fall for this kind of fear mongering anymore.

    Baby I'll be there to take your hand,
    Baby I'll be there to share the land
    That they'll be giving away, when we all live together.

    So, in the exchange with "Joe the plumber" we find out that Obama really is as radical as his early political acquaintances, and is into the failed economic policy of wealth redistribution. Yahoo, back to the 70's we go! So now we know that an Obama presidency really would be as if it were Carter's lost second term after all.

    Obama's view of the future of America - Socialism which is the next step to Communism!!

    Under socialism a ruling class of intellectuals, bureaucrats and social planners decide what people want or what is good for society and then use the coercive power of the State to regulate, tax, and redistribute the wealth of those who work for a living. In other words, socialism is a form of legalized theft.

    The morality of socialism can be summed-up in two words: envy and self-sacrifice. Envy is the desire to not only possess another's wealth but also the desire to see another's wealth lowered to the level of one's own. Socialism's teaching on self-sacrifice was nicely summarized by two of its greatest defenders, Hermann Goering and Bennito Mussolini. The highest principle of Nazism (National Socialism), said Goering, is: "Common good comes before private good." Fascism, said
    Mussolini, is "a life in which the individual, through the sacrifice of his own private interests??realizes that completely spiritual existence in which his value as a man lies."

    Socialism is the social system which institutionalizes envy and self-sacrifice: It is the social system which uses compulsion and the organized violence of the State to expropriate wealth from the producer class for its redistribution to the parasitical class.

    Despite the intellectuals' psychotic hatred of capitalism, it is the only moral and just social system.

    Capitalism is the only moral system because it requires human beings to deal with one another as traders--that is, as free moral agents trading and selling goods and services on the basis of mutual consent.

    Capitalism is the only just system because the sole criterion that determines the value of thing exchanged is the free, voluntary, universal judgement of the consumer. Coercion and fraud are anathema to the free-market system.

    It is both moral and just because the degree to which man rises or falls in society is determined by the degree to which he uses his mind. Capitalism is the only social system that rewards merit, ability and achievement, regardless of one's birth or station in life.

    Yes, there are winners and losers in capitalism. The winners are those who are honest, industrious, thoughtful, prudent, frugal, responsible, disciplined, and efficient. The losers are those who are shiftless, lazy, imprudent, extravagant, negligent, impractical, and inefficient. [What about the role of luckbeing in the right place at the right time or the wrong place at the wrong time? R. R. Pope}

    Capitalism is the only social system that rewards virtue and punishes vice. This applies to both the business executive and the carpenter, the lawyer and the factory worker.

    About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:

    'A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.'
    'A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.'
    'From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.'

    'The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years'

    'During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:

    1. from bondage to spiritual faith;
    2. from spiritual faith to great courage;
    3. from courage to liberty;
    4. from liberty to abundance;
    5. from abundance to complacency;
    6. from complacency to apathy;
    7. from apathy to dependence;
    8. from dependence back into bondage'

    Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul , Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000 Presidential election:

    Number of States won by: Democrats: 19 Republicans: 29
    Square miles of land won by: Democrats: 580,000 Republicans: 2,427,000
    Population of counties won by: Democrats: 127 million Republicans: 143 million
    Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Democrats: 13.2 Republicans: 2.1

    Professor Olson adds: 'In aggregate, the map of the territory Republican won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare...' Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the 'complacency and apathy' phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the 'governmental dependency' phase.

    If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal's and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

    If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message. If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.

    Biggest one day increase in the Dow in market's history. However:

    "The Dow's lone decliner was General Electric (GE, Fortune 500), which reported weak quarterly earnings late Friday. It was also among the 18 components of the S&P 500 that didn't join the rally.???"

    http://money.cnn.com/2008/10/13/markets/markets_newyork/?postversion=2008101318

    Another reason might be that, having provided a soapbox for socialist through its NBC division, the market no longer trusts GE with investment capital, Buffet notwithstanding.

    HolyRoller, JoseMarti and similar posters: Do me, yourself and the GOP Party a favor: Put just half the effort that you put into bashing Obama and the Democrats into praising the real values of the Republican Party and it's ticket if you want to get McCain elected. All of this peurile and acrimonious name calling and outright antagonization is not helping our cause, makes the conservative base look childish, unintelligent, frightened and self serving. It turns off Independent voters and so basically serves the Dem's interests. I'm sure you are venting, but it's NOT helping us.
