Palin Reignites The Culture War

Obama is the only candidate that has a vision that will bring the US out of the sorry state that the Bush campaign has left it in. What Obama does for health care, taxes, the wars, and the elevation of the US on the world scene is by far anything that McCain offers. McCain sinks so low while he allows Palin slanders the reputaion of a professor of education at the University of Chicago. Why is it that the people that are the least forgiving are the ones who TALK the most about their religion? One must wonder why someone can't let go of the actions of Ayers, where he has obviously accomplished so much since he was a rebellious student. No one is calling McCain a rebel, except himself, when he admits to the wild things that he did as a young man. It just really seems disingenuous

"culture war"? Race war, class warfare, war on this or that, as the late George Carlin would say "we are warlike people, even in domestic politics we always talk about war: war on drugs, war on poverty, .."
So, let's leave the war terminology aside and talk about Palin (and Biden, and Hillary before that) appealing to people that she thinks they would connect with her. Is there anything wrong with that?

Sarah Palin is the new George W. Bush, incompetent, incoherent, rambling, intellectually-challenged, and "folksy."
She's the one that "you would like to drink a beer with."
All of these things are not "fresh and new" after a W. administration. She may be a "Washington Outsider," but so was George W. Bush, and we can clearly see what that has wrought on the American People! John McCain is Dick Cheney, and the attempt with the McCain Palin ticket is to inflict another 12 years of pain and treason upon the American people just like the last 8 painful years from a Treasonous Administration.
I take Treason seriously, and I don't see where outing our CIA assets and systemically diminishing our Economic strength as a nation is something that we need to continue or allow in our "leadership."
George W. Bush did more damage to the USA over the last 8 years than Osama Bin Laden could have ever dreamed he could do. We ABSOLUTELY do not need another George W. Bush in the female form of Sarah Palin to finish us off better than a terrorist could!

But no. This is the kind of person you prefer to be a heart-beat away from the Presidency. Just be honest. You are an ideologue. You don???t really give a hoot about experience. If you did, you couldn???t possibly support Obama. No disrespect intended.

My Mom always said the use of profanity was a cover by those who couldn't admit that they didn't have a enough words in their vocabulary to carry on an intelligent conversation. So running a smear campaign against someone's character, to make people afraid or distrustful, would be the political equivalent. When, like McCain, you have nothing positive to offer in the way of new ideas, when you are so out of touch after years of being a pampered admiral's son and married to an heiress, then you resort to the smear to cover the desperate desire to be elected which leaves you willing to do any unethical thing to win. Anyone who does this does NOT have his country first. And I think it has been a good many years since John McCain put ANYONE first beyond himself. And Sarah Palin? Her ambition has blinded her to her lack of preparedness, the fact that her family is in disarray, and to her own hypocrisy and self righteousness. As a member of a non-Christian group, she would cause me to be frightened were her brand of rigid ideology in the White House because she doesn't really get the separation of church and state-and seeks to bring her brand of religious extremism into all our lives via the Supreme Court, expansion of the role of V.P. beyond that mandated by the Constitution, etc. She may be a nice person to have lunch with, but she is way to scary, inexperienced, and uneducated to be next in line to the Presidency!

Sarah Palin is a fraud. She was pregnant before she got married, has had an affair with one of her husband's friends, her 19 year old son is rumored to have serious drug problems, her 17 year old unwed daughter is pregnant, and she has used her political power to get even with people who disagree with her, yet all she talks about is being a "good Christian" and doing God's will. As a Christian she is a hypocrite who can not walk her talk, and as a politician she is completely unqualified to be Vice President. Her interview with Katie Couric showed her to be a woman with a disorganzied mind, a woman who is in over her head, utterly unprepared for the twist her fate has taken.

Even committed Republicans who support McCain have to ask themselves if they really would take the risk of putting our country into Palin's hands. Sure, being VP doesn't necessarily take a lot of skills, but being President requires great intelligence and a clear-eyed world view, one untainted by religious fanaticism. Look at the mess we got with the under-qualified Dubya, and even he seems smarter and less fanatical than Palin. McCain is 72 years old, with high cholesterol and high blood pressure; his father and grandfather each died of heart attacks at age 72. McCain's Vice President HAS to be ready to lead. And by lead, I am not referring to a full speed charge into Armageddon.

For those of you who don't know, Palin belongs to a fundamentalist church that believes the end of the world is near: that war, financial distress and famine will kill off the sinful non-believers, and that when this holocaust occurs all good Christians will be taking refuge in Alaska. Furthermore, her church conducts witch hunts -- they actually use prayer to locate "witches" in their community, then publicly brand them as witches, and hold them responsible for everything that goes wrong in town. (Honestly, I think the long winters must be getting to their minds.) You can go on YouTube and watch videos of Palin participating during sermons like this. She stands on the altar facing the members. The congregation stands with outstretched hands, trancelike, speaking in tounges while the priest prays to "keep Sarah safe from all forms of witchcraft."

Could you REALLY feel comfortable knowing that a woman who holds these beliefs would have the power to declare war and deploy nuclear missiles?

Palin is not every woman. She does not represent all women. Many of us work hard, educate ourselves about issues that are important, answer questions when they are posed, and refrain from looking uneducated and uninformed by using the same, worn out folksy phrases that Palin does. I resent the fact that McCain chose this woman as his VP. It appears that he did so thinking that women would vote for him because a woman is his running mate. That's insulting to me and many other women. I cannot support Palin's holier than thou attitude. Her voice is annoying and that's mainly because she has nothing worth saying so she rambles incoherently. In my opinion, Palin is a nightmare for our country. And to think that she could be a heart beat away from becoming President makes me shudder. The fact that she said in the debate that the Constitution will give her more power as VP proves that she is uninformed, power hungry, and uneducated in what the Constitution says. I don't think she has ever read the Articles of the Constitution.

Well I guarantee you she wasn't acting the Everywoman in San Antonio-we were so disappointed because we drove 100 miles to see her (she was attending a fundraiser in San Antonio) and we thought we would at least have a chance to greet her or have her acknowledge us-she didn't and we were a group of women! Either they didn't let her because they were afraid she would say something and would have to retract it or she didn't want to-anyhow, we found out later that the dinner wasn't worth the 1,000 people paid to get in to see her-because she wasn't allowed to visit with them either! I guess Sarah and her team didn't think our little group of women are important to her-so be it however, there were plenty of us that decided that afternoon we would send a message to her and McCain come voting time. McCain and Palin a message for you from the women waiting in the hot sun to see Sarah Palin-"Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on you..."
