    The Bush Depression

In a few weeks we will make a choice that will decide our future.
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
Also, he perfectly predicted the current real estate market meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen in the next couple years
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide the largest morgage bank in the world,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch which are 3 out of the top 5 wall street firms. Also, Fanny and Freddy Mae which hold 50 percent of the home loans in the United States.
The government took them over because they are essentially bankrupt. If they didn't the entire financially system would virtually shut down, the stock market would crash and we would suffer beyond what any of us have seen before.

McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand exactly what is broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use complex mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.

Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He either didn't care or didn't realize that anything was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime.
It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a surplus like Bush did but a tanking economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit.Bush created a national debt larger then the first 42 presidents combined
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why isnt obama 25 points ahead
The chairman of McCains campaign recently said that people don't vote on issues they vote on a personality composite. Which means he is trying to sell you personality instead of results.
Let's teach him we are smarter than that .

31 states are voting now, dont wait
    Elect Obama Biden 2008

study after study shows that those that speak with that southern type of folksiness are perceived as less intelligent. palin just doesn't understand how that "cutesy" little thing she's doing is actually backfiring. maybe it works for the old folks but everywhere i read, everyone is really turned off.

this was the easiest debate in history thanks to joe biden being such a gentleman. sarah got names and facts wrong and he still didn't hammer her on those easy ones. joe biden demonstrated a great deal of restraint instead of making her look the fool that she is. he knew the smart ppl at home heard her gaffes - he didn't have to point it out.

biden, not palin, deserves the credit for allowing her to stand her ground. he let the little girl talk her nonsense with slogans, winks, and "you betchas". he never delivered the tko that he so easily could have.. i'm sure he was itching to do so. i admire biden for his strength and chivalry. his actions spared her the embarrassment.

Seems everyone but the republicans"got it"...

She disclosed herself as a small town person trying to fake sophistication by trying to recite from books.
Example: She did not remember the name of the general in charge and made up a name that was not correct.

Real knowing is not from memory.

Duh, I wanna be Vice President as well. I ken rite good and I ken read good and I ken get peeple who hate those eleeetst high school grads to vote fer me as well. I think Sarah Palin is cute and she shore can talk rite. I voted in the last lection for Bush and look at how good he has been doin' !

I don't think Palin's "Folksy, cutsy" ignorance will play well with anyone with an IQ over 100, female or male, not really sure what the NAtional average intelligence is these days..... we did elect and re- elect Bush...must be on the wane.

  • Posted By: HFrancis @ 10/03/2008 5:49:36 PM

Why is it so hard for the GOP to realize that someone can be intelligent and still use "folksy" vernacular? Huckabee did it and if he was on the McCain ticket, I'd be voting for it. But Palin's excessive wink-wink nudge-nudge makes her look ridiculous. It's as if she's about to yell, "gotcha". This is not a joke. This is not a contest. This is the interview for the second highest job in the country.

  • Posted By: yellow72 @ 10/03/2008 5:48:11 PM

why is having palin speak in a 'folksy' way a virtue? dumbing down america is a virtue? my joe six-pack neighbor does not talk like her. the 'folksy' thing she's got going on only make me feel that she thinks these people are stupid. I live in texas and people do not talk this way, not even the supposedly 'gun toting, bible thumping, country lovin' rednecks'. they might add the word 'fixin'' to a sentence or two, but really do not talk the way she thinks they do. and that folksy speak she was doing did not hide the fact that she still doesn't have a clue. and telling the world she's only been at this vp thing for 5 weeks did not bring my confidence up.

    McCain is not Bush!!

Obama is more Bush than anyone!

There is more reminiscence of Bush in Obama than anyone else. Hillary Clinton even said so.

Obama would be a disaster. He would inadvertently give credo to the Bush years the way that Bush did to Bill Clinton. Count on it.

Look at the comment from A-me. This is illustrative of the people who elected George Bush not once but two times. No thought, no information, just shrill screaming. "McCain is not Bush!" No attempt to persuade is offered, just the assumption that everyone is drinking the kool-aid. McCain has voted with George Bush in over 90% of his votes.

Bush's big issue was tax cuts. Palin talked about tax cuts over and over and over again. Both Republicans have admitted they know nothing about economics but both will stand in front of the people and scream tax cuts. Americans pay less tax than any other industrialized country. We have poured money down a spider hole and to fools continue to scream "tax cuts."

Obama would be a disaster. He would inadvertently give credo to the Bush years the way that Bush did to Bill Clinton. Count on it." Credo is a latin word for "i believe." Try to make sense of the Palinesque sentence written by A-me and ask if this is the Brainiac who should be giving people advice on how to vote.

You know, it's really a stretch to blame the economic mess on the Republicans. The economy was doing just fine until the Democrats took over Congress two years ago; it has been downhill ever since.

    • Posted By: MurphyMaloney @ 10/03/2008 5:43:42 PM

You must be joking. This mess is bviously a direct result of deregulation and all the excuses can't change the facts..

  • Posted By: BoogieStik @ 10/03/2008 5:43:24 PM

Is it just me, or does Sarah Palin sound a lot like Ace Ventura, Pet Detective?

It might not exactly be "reform", but gosh darn, it would be refreshing. You betcha!

    Allrighty then!

It amazes me that when a liberal doesn't understand a conservative they become churlish and resort to name calling and personal attacks. It seems that when conservatives ask a liberal to explain himself/herself they are labeled as a hate-monger. The hypocrisy is mind-numbing.

If you haven't lived in a small town you might not understand that it is the rednecks who are the elitist snobs. They think they are better than others and that they don't really have to know anything...they have a gun and a big truck and that makes them right and everybody else an idiot. Biden is the hard working son of a blue collar American and yet Palin acts as if she is better than he is. She didn't even have the work ethic to look up any scientific information at all. I find her remarkably lazy and shallow.

    • Posted By: XMarine @ 10/03/2008 5:42:37 PM

Having been in the Balkins during ethnic cleansing it is the rednecks there that killed their neighbore and raped his wife.

The American Heritage Dictionary defines a maverick as "An unbranded range animal, especially a calf that has become separated from its mother, traditionally considered the property of the first person who brands it." Sounds spot-on to me.

I don't want the Everyman or Everywoman as president, VP, Speaker of the House, etc... The C students of the world who got that grade for sidling up to the teacher do not belong in the highest halls of government! Why are we so willing to elect he lowest common denominator? Guess what, the rural midwesterner is embarrassed by the American political system too.

    • Posted By: belle1234 @ 10/03/2008 5:39:24 PM

Wouldn't Everyman or Everywoman be proud of their child if they were accepted to Harvard or Columbia and aspired to be the best that they can be? Why is that called elitism? Would Everyman or Everywoman label their own child an elitist just because they reveived an education and pursued a career in which they were successful? Getting an education and striving to be the best that you can be is what any "hockey mom" would want for their child. I acheived that for myself and want the same thing for my child - I AM NOT AN ELITIST for pursuing my dreams and wanting the same for my child!

a-me: now the republicans are using the same president they fought so hard to empower to bash obama?! how can you sleep at night?!

  • Posted By: pfw1330 @ 10/03/2008 5:36:41 PM

She's an empty suit, spouting banalities as soma for the masses. If McCain-Palin get elected, then Americans deserve what they are gonna get. What incentive does a company have to offer health insurance if they don't get a tax deduction for it and if the recipient has to pay taxes on it? Since when does a $5000 tax deduction equal a $12,000 policy? How about the poor? You have to earn money to pay enough taxes so that a deduction will be worth something. But of course Mr. McCain wouldn't know that.

  • Posted By: Yumyum2008 @ 10/03/2008 5:36:20 PM

If Barney Frank can stay in congress, if Dodd and Obama don't have to give back to the rescue fund the donations they got from freddie/fannie, and if the media can keep treating Palin as a lightweight rather than respecting her as the Governor of a state (like Carter and Clinton were), then no one will believe the liberal media and the smear and hate campaign- they tried to go after her personally. They smeared her kids, her morals, her husband, put up fake websites, called her names. Then, like viscious middle schoolers, they went after the parentage of her infant and questioned her mothering ability. Now she is accused of smiling! What next? Thank God I am not a liberal because to go through life miserable every day, hating everyone who disagees, hating my country and its ups and downs, I don't think I could take it. My only regret if McCain wins is that we will have to listen to 4 years of the bile of the losers. Over and over and over and over. But it's their loss- because their families and friends are probably sick of it too.

  • Posted By: XMarine @ 10/03/2008 5:36:13 PM

If you can speak well and can put together a string of thoughts put together with intelligence and make sense you must be a elitist. It is not that Obama is an elitist it is Palin and McCain are lowering the standards to the level of incoherence and ignorance.
Pleasant as Palin might seem she is an ignorant woman hidden under a melting glacier.

  • Posted By: franciefp @ 10/03/2008 5:36:10 PM

I found Gov. Palin's "folksey" yet sardonic manner and overuse of slang ("betcha, ain't, etc.) a poor example of how someone who would like to be Vice-President to act. She rarely answered a direct question and seemed to spend most of her time alloted running for 2012 and memememememe. I would not vote for a ticket with her on it. What a poor example abroad she would be.
