I am sorry but Elanore is someone that I had great respect for but lately she's been seen on FoxNews as a contributor. No real problem except that she cows to O'Rielly when ever pushed. This is the problem with FoxNews. They put people on the are supposedly "liberal" or at least "neutral" and those people cave to the bullying tactics immediately. It makes Democrats look weak and O'Rielly look like king of the jungle. I can't name the guy but when asked by Mr. O'Rielly if he thought he was "too tough" on Barney Frank the guy mumbled some weak garbage that Bill only accepted after putting his two cents in even to further diminish any comment about how incredibly over the top bizarre the interview was. I am sorry Ms. Clift but you should be held accountable for sleeping with the enemy and I for one am NO LONGER a fan.

I was happy to see Sen Obama going over to Germany representing our country. What was wonderful for a change was see american flags being waved and not burned. I lived in Germany and the people are very informed about world affairs. Unlike a lot of americans that are not. I lived in Italy and they also feel the same way. They have wondered what happen to the america. I tell them I don't know because we americans were never like this before. Now some americans can stay in our own little world and think that is fine but when all hell breaks around here where will we get the help from? Like 9/11 we had so many nations behind us and now thanks to this administration we no longer enjoy our status around the world. Sen Obama and Sen Biden have a chance to repair the damage.

Euro-pandering is not the answer. The only thing your oh-so-special europeans know is what Michael Moore feeds them.

Stay in Europe, whoever you are. You're not American, and you're especially not Southern.

          I agree with A-me.

I went on a trip to Europe two summers ago. Europeans are a bunch of bigoted a#*holes and they don't know anything about our politics or us. It makes no sense trying to please them.

A-me...I'm an American and a Texan. You do not speak for all of us. Just because you are blisslessly unaware that there's a whole big world outside of your little comfort zone...doesn't mean it doesn't exist. A good deal of the rest of the world has lost respect for us and faith in us....and that is important...regardless of the fact that your intolerant and ignorant mind can't comprehend that. Do some research on why we need the support of the rest of the world. And for God's sake...stop telling people to go to or stay in another country just because they say something that, by your standards, is not "pro-American. I personally would prefer all ignorant, intolerant and/or bigoted people would go form their own little island of hell so that America could get on with the business of progressing...but unfortunately, I recognize your right to live here and voice your opinions. Ugh.

A-me, please refrain for speaking for all Americans and all Southerners. I am American and I am a Texan. I realize that Palin and many other Americans and Texans may not be able to see that there's a whole big world outside of the USA, we're not all idiots. We do need to regain the respect of the rest of the world. Perhaps you should do some research to help you understand why it would be better, in a myriad of ways, for our country to be respected and supported by other countries. The rest of the world has lost respect for us and faith in us...that isn't a good thing...for anyone. There are other states outside of yours, there are other countries outside of ours. Don't be an idiot...and for God's sake...would you quit telling people to go to or stay in another country just because they don't agree with you or have an opinion that isn't blindly "pro-American...by your ridiculous standards???sheesh. I think you're clearly misinformed adn intolerant...but I wouldn't tell you to leave the country...whether I think you should or not.

Left wing elitist would be about as flattering as it could be. Rezko,Wright,Khaladi and Ayers are all loathsome associations. Obama's judgment is apparently less than zero. Its too bad Huey Newton isn't still alive and kicking. He could be Secretary of the Interior

I think everyone needs to take a deep breath and really really really look at what is about to happen to our country. In light of the economic, political, domestic and foriegn issues we as americans have to deal with, I think it is important to truly wieght our options and seriously make the choice of who will lead us to better times. I am not talking about experience, i am not talking about judgement, i am talking about who will give you the overall feeling that he or she will get us out of this mess. I want a candidate who, if asked a direct question will give me a direct or decent answer and not try to say they are just not like the other guy. personal attacks aside, tell me what YOU are going to do and not what the other guy is doing. That is my barometer of a good leader and that is who will be the better president.

    HappyDay41--

You are right. People shouldn't vote for Obama because he is black. They should vote for him because he is intelligent, good/calm under pressure, cognisent of his surroundings, exellent problem solving skills, above average business accumen, good character, and great interpersonals skills. Even though character should be a factor in your decision, the ability to handle the war and the economy ( #1 issue in my book) should way more or just as much. Beyond that, how can you say that Obama doesn't have good character? What do you know of him beyond with Right/Conservatives tell you. Have you done some research youself. Or, are you listening the Right. McCain has great character, but he gambles to much with major decisions (VP pick, suspending his campgain) and he demonstrated that he isn't well versed in the economy (i.e. the economy is strong; and we both know he wasn't talking about the American people). So, just think for a second. Republicans are raising the question about Obama that we don't know him, he is risky, he isn't like us. I have heard those type of statements bofore to justify irrational decisions. I for one would say that this tactic has an underlined racist base to it. It is not the outcome Republicans want to protray, but it is a hidden side-effect. So, when you strip all the subjective grabage for both sides and you are left with the candidates (all four of them), I chose Obama. Palin isn't ready and has some potential character issues herself. All in all, all four candidates probably are good people. I think we should look at their policies and make a informed decision. So, once again, I chose Obama. I don't think he will help my situation (I do alright) but he will help the less fortunate and I commend him on that. In my eyes that is good character.

    • Posted By: HappyDay41 @ 10/06/2008 3:12:59 PM

Wow. You, unlike me, must be close personal friends with OB. I certainly, in your opinion, cannot know anything about him from research, but you can? What a double standard.

AS for business accumen-- what are you talking about.? Did the man runa business? No. Was he a CEO? No. Was he a Governor? No. Was he in charge of a non-profit? No. Maybe a lemonade stand?

As for good character... what are you talking about? Did he go to his mother when she was dying of cancer? No. Did he associate with criminals and terrorists? Yes. Did he take credit for legislation that other people had sunk their hearts and souls into for decades?Yes. Did he forget to write anything in his memoirs about Bill Ayers and thier decades of mutual board memberships and voter registration efforts? Yes. Has he operated over the years under different names? Yes.

Does he play the race card? Yes. DId he pretend to be a poor little black boy who suffered from racism? Yes. Was he really a privileged black boy who went to an elite private school? Yes. Was he raised in America? No.

Hmm. Maybe I don't know anything about him and any opposition to him could not be based on his lying, slick character... any opposition has to be based on race, right?

Well, Ms. Clift Obama certainly IS an elitist. That is why you and your kind are so deep i the tank for him. I will give you Obama's intelligence, but his accomplishments? Please, he has NONE. He is also the smoothest politician since Bill Clinton. He should be since he earned his stripes at the birthplace of gold old dirty American politics, Chicago. That "working-class constituency" as you call us, is AMERICA. We are the engine that runs this country while you and your kind go along for the ride, feed us this partisan "gibberish", and hope we will buy into what you want us to believe. The true culture war that needs to be fought is we the people against what was once journalism. I for one find this type of slanted "gibberish" disgraceful.

    • Posted By: TruthForward @ 10/07/2008 12:29:25 PM

Why would Obama be elitist? He grew up poor. His mother was denied proper healthcare. He had to get loans to finish law school. He had to work for everything. Obama was a community organizers: He knows what the people can accomplish.

The link below contains a purported list of the top 25 in Congress who got contributions from the folks at Fannie and Freddie. Obama is listed third, after Dodd and Kerry, even though Obama is just a junior Senator. Obama is followed next by Clinton. Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi are on the list as well.

    http://www.investors.com/editorial/IBDArticles.asp?artsec=16&artnum=1&issue=20080918

Then there is the Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher J. Dodd who allegedly got special mortgage deals from Countrywide, who gave preferential rates to 'friends' of company's chairman.

For an interesting article purporting to detail the House Financial Services Committee Chairs long history with Fannie Mae, See http://www.businessandmedia.org/printer/2008/20080924145932.aspx

"House Financial Services Committee Chair promoted GSEs while former 'spouse' was Fannie Mae executive."

    • Posted By: HappyDay41 @ 10/06/2008 10:38:40 AM

      Dude, YOU look beyond color.

You've said that several times now in response to posts that have NOTHING to do with color/race.

Just because people don't like obama's character, past, racism, associations, or don't feel like they know enough about him, or don't feel like they can trust him... does not mean they have a color issue. Some people do vote on issues and character, you know? Most of us aren't obsessed with putting a black man in the White House just because he is a black man. He's got to have a good character too.

      • Posted By: revarg @ 10/06/2008 11:15:08 AM

yeah your issue is she have little girls wanting to dress like her.have you really liaten to gov palin? do you know enough about her? my friend it is obvious if sen hillary clinton was running, sen mccain and gov palin would not even be an issue.so don't tell me this have nothing to do with race.only in america my ass.this is one of the most racist place on earth.

America is one of the most wonderful places on Earth.

Everyone has the same opportunities. If you are facing racism, you need to elevate your self above that. Go to school. Get a decent job. Move your family to a decent neighborhood. And don't buy into the "black victimhood". We can all advance as far as we want, obama show that don't he? And, we do not need people screaming 'victim here' and soiling the accomplishments of those of us who worked our butts off to get ahead. I don't let racism hold me back. Most folks I know are pretty nice and non-judgmental.

          • Posted By: revarg @ 10/07/2008 9:37:47 AM

trust me i am not in a racist situation.its just sad to hear most of sen mccain and gov palin supporters give such lame reasons why they support them, i wish some of you were looking in from the outside, then you would see where i am coming from, i read all comments and by far the rep supporters have the worst reason for their support.like we don't really know sen obama, well i think he's been around longer than gov palin. sen obama got his hands in the cookie jar, well so did sen mccain. now they are bringing up obama's pass association with ayers and rev wright, well gov palin's husband belong to a church who's leader said worst things than rev wright.i read a comment that read "i would rather vote for a pumpkin than vote for obama", and i have more respect for this voter.he is honest.but to bring down a man charater just to get in the white house is wrong, and the more gov palin put her foot in her mouth, the more she talks.sure sign she is not ready to lead...the world is watching you,

  • Posted By: revarg @ 10/05/2008 10:14:23 AM

looking from the outside i was shocked to know that america had so many uneducated people that sarah palin represents. i listen to that debate and i am a bahamian, living in the bahamas and i could have handle that debate better than gov palin did, she never answered the questions directly, and the fact that she is more of a feiry fighter with words rather than speak the facts scares me. and still she say she wants to be the change in the white house, take a seat in your brother's 3rd grade class, you might be ready in 20 years

    • Posted By: HappyDay41 @ 10/06/2008 3:27:27 PM

Ah. Here you are. You aren't even American. Yet you judge us? And, you comment on racism here?

G'head. Run yer mouth, mofo. You don't know what yer talking about.

America is the land of opportunity, for men, women, black, white, yellow, and brown. So many have come here to better their lives, they start with nothin, they work hard, go without, save up, and send their kids to college and their kids become teachers, scientists, and are the heart and soul of our country.

Who goes to the Bahamas for thier kids a better future? Nobody.

sames i know more than you.i always said i'm looking in from the outside and i'm more in touch than you are. sen mccain has a worst resume than sen obama, check out his connection with the keating deals, then get back to me.and like you said america is the land of oppitunity, so is to say i would'nt be there soon.but is it attractive enough for me yet. NO

    The Antichrist!:
When George Soros failed to obtain the election of his candidate, John Kerry, in 2004, he brooded for a while, even said he might get out of politics altogether, but he just couldn???t stop himself. He has stated publicly that he wishes to burst the ???bubble of American supremacy,??? because he says our preeminence in the world is a detriment to global ???equilibrium.??? So far, he has failed, but he keeps on trying.

And Mr. Soros has made no secret either of the fact that he sees the shortest way to effect political shake-ups, what he terms ???regime changes,??? is through very difficult economic conditions.

America has not yet felt the full force of Soros style economic shock treatment. But others have.

Soros made his first billion in 1992 by shorting the British pound with leveraged billions in financial bets, and became known as the man who broke the Bank of England. He broke it on the backs of hard-working British citizens who immediately saw their homes severely devalued and their life savings cut drastically in comparative worth almost overnight.

When the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997 threatened to spread globally, George Soros was right in the thick of it. Soros was accused by the Malaysian Prime Minister of causing the collapse with his monetary machinations, and he was branded in Thailand as an ???economic war criminal??? who ???sucks the blood from the people.??? Right in the middle of this crisis, Soros dashed off his book, The Crisis of Global Capitalism, which demanded a ???third way??? toward economic stability.

Wake up, America, before it is too late!!!!

    Happy Days,

Keep convincing yourself that everyone you talk to is voting for McCain. It just isn't so.

Most likely, they keep their real feelings to themselves, as I do, becasuse they don't want to have you ranting and raving at them. It is bad enough hearing you rant and rave about Obama.

And I don't see that many Obama signs either, however, I live in a overwhelmingly republican area. I like my neighbors and they like me. But I am not going to put an Obama sign in my yard that will just make them upset. I'll just go to the polls and vote with the rest of the majority of Americans... for Obama.

And please help me understand something. Why do you guys HATE so much? What is wrong with giving Obama a chance to turn the country around? The republicans sure haven't done a good job at it.

Is it possible, that in reality your biggest fear is not that Obama would become elected and ruin the country, but that he would turn things around and bring HOPE back to America. I love this country too. I even spent six years of my life defending it during the first Iraq war.

But at some point we have to give hope a chance. At some point we have to say that the world has changed, and more importantly, our enemies know the Republican game plan. They know what we are going to do, before we do it. What sense does it make to keep playing from the same playbook that our enemies have learned forward and backward. If anything, Obama would throw our enemies off balance, because they would have no idea what he will do.

One thing I liked about Palin was her straight talk. So let's talk straight for a moment.

Republicans can't stomach voting for Obama, because his fiscal and social policies are at odds with the Repubican/conservative mantra. And regardless of what people say, I don't think it is a Race thing for most Republicans, it is a philosophy thing. Plus the fact that Republicans take great pride in the fact that the vast majority of Presidents have been Repubican. I can't think of the last time a Democrat was President for more than eight years straight. How can they when they are attacked and vilified by the right, every waking moment.

So all I ask is that if Obama does get elected, that the Right uphold their promise of putting America First, by supporting the President and helping him get back on the right track.

But sadly, I think that possibility might be beyond hopng for.

    • Posted By: HappyDay41 @ 10/06/2008 3:46:50 PM

First, let me thank you for your service to America.

Second, you state that I can convince my self that everyone I talk to is for McCain, but you say it just aint so. I beg to differ. How can you tell me (whom you've never met) that the people I talk to who are voting McCain (whom you've never met) arent really voting McCain? Think about how odd that is, that you know these people's true intent, and I do not.

Again, I said some, who are Democrats either are NOT voting AT ALL or are voting McCain. They are NOT voting Obama.

YOu can say it ain't so. But I guarantee you it is.

And why do we HATE so much? We don't. You can't say I/We do. I don't Obama. He is shady. ANd, as you know, since you fought for my rights, I have every right to feel/believe whatever I feel/believe.

As you say, "everyone in America is voting for Obama". That's not true. The electorate is split. If everyone in America were voting Obama, why the h*ll are we having a discussion? Or an election? Why not just install the guy on the throne of democracy?

And, you have no idea how he will govern, because you know as little as the rest of us about him. His record is no more extensive for you, than it is for the rest of us who disagree with you.

Thanks tho for being reasonable. And as you have defended this country, again thanks, and I hope you have a safe election day. Enjoy the vote. You sure have earned it.

I don't know what you are agreeing with. The original poster here never used any sexist, misogynistic wording at all. He never insulted Palin by calling her a prostitute. You are a vile thinker.

  • Posted By: John Marshall @ 10/04/2008 11:24:31 AM

    You write:

"I'm not saying that's Biden's usual public mode by any means: Man-off-his-meds can be more his style. But last night on the stage next to Palin, he was a guy in a dark suit who calmly confounded a script that's getting awfully tiresome."

"Man-off-his-meds" is right on the money. But you do not mean it. That is an incredible error.

Joe Biden shows an incredible inability to focus on the matter at hand. Web blogs are counting his howlers at 24 and climbing. Some of them should disqualify him for the VP position. The most frightening was his claim that Hezbollah and been kicked out of Lebanon, that they had been kicked out by the USA and NATO, that the USA and NATO had refused the advice of Biden and Obama to place NATO troops in Lebanon to fill the vacumn, and that Hezbollah is now part of the government of Lebanon for the first time. Are you aware that each clause of Biden's claim is false? Do you care? Are you willing that this man should be one heartbeat from the presidency? If he were to become president, he might recommend that the USA and its allies resolve the dispute with Iran by cutting a deal in which Iran stops its nuclear program in exchange for the USA selling them nuclear weapons.

Biden suffers from a lack of focus. In a job interview, he would lose the job because, when asked "Why do you want this job?" he would start talking about himself. He simply cannot focus. That characteristic disqualifies anyone from the presidency.

Biden suffers from an acute form of "senatorial megalomania." When he does not know the answer or the relevant facts, he gives the answer that he likes and makes up facts and positions to support it. For the MSM not to call him on this matter is a crime against humanity. We really do not want to engage in nuclear war because Biden cannot focus. Gwen Ifill called him on nothing. Just what I expected. Her pro-Obama stance kept her quiet through endless blunders by senator nofocus.

By the way, Palin supplied him with the relevant context for his remark that our commanding general in Afghanistan said flatly that the surge would not work there. In doing so, she showed focus, intelligence, and gentleness. Republicans, especially McCain and Palin, have a duty to remove the gloves. Otherwise, Biden's inability to focus on the matter at hand will land us in disaster.
