Thanks to Newsweek for giving her this opportunity to write about and highlight her foundation's mission. I am not hispanic but as a citizen of a third world country, I feel proud of everything she has achieved as I have a good idea of how difficult it can be to get out of the cycle of poverty, to beat the system you were born into. I'm very happy for Colombia and for Latin America as a whole that they have someone like her who is so passionate in her mission to help the less fortunate of her people (mi gente, as she fondly says in her concerts). She inhabits the Pop music world, but she is deep and she cares, so more power to her and to quote a British writer reviewing her concert, "she truly is the people's popstar". (or maybe people's popgoddess considering her almost mythical stature in the Latin culture, but people and goddess in the same phrase sounds like an oxymoron so I guess people's popstar is okay. :-)

It's such a relief to know that there are still people out there that care enough to do something about those stricken with poverty. Especially the children. May God bless your acts. Hopefully your acts are contagious enough that others catch the goodwill to do the same. There's really no words to describe the greatness of what you're doing. You rock.
