Karl Rove, your corruptness and slice and dice politics of the past are about to come to a "screaching" halt. Americans no longer want to be divided. It takes too much energy to "fight"; especially when the "fight" is about "I'm better than you becasue I'm white". May you and Satan enjoy each other's company.

You and Obama are great uniters, huh?

  • Posted By: Mwalimu @ 10/12/2008 4:42:31 PM

    Despicable

That's the only way I can Sarah Palin's campain that some Americans are more "American" than others
Sarah Palin starts out by attacking Obama's "funny" middle name. Then she goes on to equate Hussein to Muslim to terrorist..

Understandably, as a native of Wasilla, Alaska, Palin does not know much about the rest of the world. Therefore, she does not understand that Hussein is a neither a strange nor a funny name.. In fact, if you used Google and traced the origin of that name, you'd know that Hussein means both good and handsome. It's no small wonder that Hussein is one of the most popular names in the world. Who wouldn't want to be named Hussein?

In fact, Hussein was the surname of one of my students a wonderful, diligent, graceful young lady. Her father, Mr. Hussein, was a concerned, loving, supportive parent who often checked in with me to find out his daughter was doing in my class. As a public employee, I do not know anything about Mr. Hussein's religious beliefs. However, if I were apply the precepts of the Book of James in the Bible, which measures faith by works, I have to say Mr. Hussein's religious beliefs (or lack thereof) were far more worthy of God that the superstitious nonsense spewed from the pulpit of the Wasilla Assembly of God that produced an ignorant bigot like Sarah Palin.

Beyond maligning people's names, Palin and McCain are attacking the loyalty and patriotism of millions of American Muslims, some of whom are serving our country in Iraq and Afghanistan. The anti-Islamic fervor of Palin's campaign reminds me of the anti-Semitism of Central Europe in the 1930's. And increasingly, a McCain rally reminds me of a cross-burning lynch mob of Ku Klux Klan, and probably attracts its share of Klansmen as well. No one is safe. From attacking Muslims, it will be easy to attack Latinos, African-Americans, Jews, gays... any one who is not "an American like the rest of us."

McCain and Palin are anti-American. They are assaulting the very principles and ideals that this country represents. They are a disgrace to America. Every member of the Republican party, as well as their apologists in the media, should hang their heads in shame.

It behooves every patriotic American to denounce the fear, ignorance, and bigotry that the GOP is using to win votes. McCain and his Republican allies offer us fear and hate. Obama and his Democratic allies offer us courage and hope. Let's vote for hope.

    THE AFFIRMATIVE ACTION CANDIDATE!

NEVER IN THE HISTORY OF THIS COUNTRY HAS A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE BEEN GIVEN SUCH A FREE PASS BY THE PRESS AND JUST ABOUT EVERYONE ELSE!

I AM WAITING FOR A BLACK PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE TO MAKE IT ON HIS OWN MERIT.

    COLIN POWELL COMES TO MIND!

Comment: Obama graduated from Columbia (political science) and Harvard at the top of his class- no Affirmative action needed! Was a law professor at U of C for 10 years, where he taught Constitutional law (all relevant to the presidency). Was in the Illinois senate for a number of years before the US senate. McCain graduated at the bottom of his class. Palin is a self proclaimed "pit bull" and "joe 6-pack". Got a bachelor's in communication from 6 different schools. Was govenor of Alaska for less than 2 years. Was mayor and needed a manager to run the city. Who are the affirmative action candidates? If Obama had graduated bottom of his class, he definitely could not even think of being President.

      • Posted By: Jim Johnson @ 10/15/2008 10:46:51 AM

Graduating at the top of your class does not make you better qualified to be president. You have your priorities all wrong; character and judgment is at the top.

As a strategic move I think it would have served him better than that opportunistc flake Palin. However I suspect Powell is trying to distance himself from the Bush/Cheney crime family and having to run with George Bush's playdate buddy, is running into the fire, not away.

      • Posted By: Jim Johnson @ 10/15/2008 10:37:23 AM

Just remember you are turning the reins of our country immediately to inexperienced, self-serving elist than loves government control of everything. Palin is 10 times the person of Obama and she is running for Vice President, the number 2 spot.

  • Posted By: melandmike @ 10/13/2008 11:09:37 AM

HolyRoller, JoseMarti and similar posters: Do me, yourself and the GOP Party a favor: Put just half the effort that you put into bashing Obama and the Democrats into praising the real values of the Republican Party and it's ticket if you want to get McCain elected. All of this peurile and acrimonious name calling, smearing and outright antagonization is not helping our cause, makes the conservative base look childish, unintelligent, frightened and self serving. It turns off Independent voters and so basically serves the Dem's interests.

    • Posted By: Jim Johnson @ 10/15/2008 10:33:37 AM

Do you realize that getting the truth out to the American people is not bashing? Wise up!

  • Posted By: mapmaker7 @ 10/13/2008 3:39:09 PM

It's interesting that the "Minister of Hate" for the Republican Party sees Palin's talent for inspiring the lowest of the low in her party as an "assest". Even David Dukes had evolved enough to know open racist rants are "so 1960". Americans and even Republicans deserve better than her. You betcha.

    • Posted By: Jim Johnson @ 10/15/2008 10:32:00 AM

How can you run any person down whose character is so far above that of the Democrat PRESIDENTIAL candidate?

  • Posted By: Brookfield Bill @ 10/14/2008 10:23:45 PM

OK, I'll accept that she's probably a hoot to shoot moose or watch a hockey game with, but the mercurial rise of Sarah Palin has gone from the comical to the surreal. I refer in particular to her indefensible defense that she could not have been unethical in Troopergate because she didn't benefit financially. Does she really believe unethical conduct is so limited? Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) (cited explicitly in the Troopergate Report) prohibits any effort to obtain " a personal or financial" benefit through official action. Can the woman read? Does she not understand the meaning of the word "or"?
Forget the legalities, let's use an analogy any Chicagoan, and presumably any Alaskan, can recognize. Would you call a judge ???ethical??? who was not bribed, but nevertheless did a favor for a lawyer friend by letting the lawyer???s guilty client go free? Of course not, you would call him or her guilty of a gross and unethical abuse of official power. But Ms. Palin apparently knows even less about ethics than she does about the Bush Doctrine. The honorable John McCain should be ashamed.

    • Posted By: Jim Johnson @ 10/15/2008 10:29:18 AM

It is not unethical for a Governor to get a public official, who wears a gun, fired if he could be a threat to the people including her own family. How would you protect your family?

McCain and Palin has two big weapons that they must use:

. They must reassure the American people that once THEY get the economy back on track that they will seek out the culprits behind the economic downfall. They don't need to try to identify anyone yet. That could be disasterous.

. They need to continue to alert the American people of Obama's radical background and his real goals for this country. He wants the government to control everything and the American people to be his sheep. He wants to bring America down to the level of rest of the world. He is a self-centered elistist that loves attention and wants people, especially the young, to worship him! He will begin in elementary schools and train young people to follow his ideas and ideals.

The ability to identify with the "everyman" is an important attritbute for a Public Servant. Yet the position of President/Vice President is unique. It requires a greater working knowledge of the government you are representing as well as it's process. Not being able to name a supreme court ruling is a different litmus test for a local politician than someone represnting you on the global scale. Palin: failing.

Bill Clinton points to liberal Congressional Democrats' protection of Fannie and Freddie from scrutiny as a primary cause of the current economic meltdown.

To prove Bill Clinton's point, this is a link to a C-SPAN video clip of the Congressional hearings at roughly the time McCains attempt at S.190. to fix fannie and freddie.

In a few weeks we will make a choice that will decide our future.
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
Also, he perfectly predicted the current real estate market meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen in the next couple years
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide ,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch , Fanny and Freddy Mae ,AIG
The government took them over because they are essentially bankrupt. Even with the goverment nationalizing hundreds of billions of dollars in debt the stock market is crashing
the credit markets are frozen and all of us may suffer beyond anything in the last 80 years.
McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand exactly what is broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use complex mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.
Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He didnt realize that anything was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime. Check out this link to the truth http://my.barackobama.com/keatingvideo
It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a surplus like Bush did but a crashing economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit. Most of it Bush created and it will take decades to pay it back.
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why are the polls even close then ?
Mccains team just said they no longer want to talk about the economy.Instead they would like to spend time talking about obama
which means running the biggest smear campaign in history.
They think they can just tell you lies and you wont be smart enough to see through it
Let's teach him we are smarter than that .
    Elect Obama Biden 2008

John McCain = 894 out of 899. Sarah Palin 5 colelges in 6 years and adegree in broadcasting. There isn't a teacup of brains between the two of them. McCain is cognitively disfunctional (io.e., senile) and Palin is all mouth and no mind.

Pathetic. Obama will take ME, MA, NH, VT, DE, RI, NJ, NY, PA, DC, MD, VA, NC, OH, MI, IA, IL, WI, MN, MO, CO, NM, CA, OR, WA and HI. LANDSLIDE.

    Mr. Rove,
Bush had the good sense to steer clear of Senator McCain for the sake of the Republican party. McCain's ties to you and W are far more damning than anything you'll thow Barack Obama's way.

Shall we examine YOUR strategy? Repeat the EXPERIENCE falacy at every opportunity and make McCain sound like a parrot who begins most of his sentences with 'Barack Obama doesn't understand' Pretend that a MAVERICK president is actually a good thing. Pay big money (and small bloggers) for media placement of the mistaken Obama-Osama connection that cost Alan Keyes any hope of winning the Illinois senate race. Tell McCain to use the word pork-barrel repeatedly, because you regard the middle class as expendible livestock. Always accuse your opponent of your greatest weakness. Take your pick: partisanship, energy, the economy, failure in Iraq, out of control spending. Send McCain to Washington, grandstanding as a Maverick legislator. Advise your cronies to short American stocks in sync with the delayed passage of the Banking bailout bill (a move that continues to backfire for you.) ...And finally, select a singularly unqualified but somewhat likeable running mate for McCain, and make her drop out of the race at the end of October to make room for your REAL V.P. choice.

"Your party[Democrats] likes to point out that McCain has agreed with Bush 90% of the time, but can you find ANY time Hussein[Barrack Obama] split from the Democrats?" - Floridave

Honestly...with Bush's approval rating being what it is, are you really wanting to compare a candidate siding with Bush vs. one siding with Democrats? You may want to avoid pointing out the 90% connection to Bush's policies McCain has in any argument you're trying to make in his favor, as it's an extremely unfavorable connection.

Also, I love your use of Sen. Obama's middle name only. Very classy.
