I am so tired of hearing that Palin "speaks for everyday Americans". Not all off us, she doesn't! She sure as hell doesn't speak for me and I'm about as everyday American as anyone can be, although, unlike Palin, I'm not married to someone who belongs to a group that swears to hate the US and wants to secede from the union and I have no illusions that my college degree, my ability to bear children and my various job experiences qualify me to be vice president, let alone president.

Most especially, I have no desire to use some imaginary "flexibility" in the Constitution to make a power grab in an office I'm not qualified to hold.

Sarah Palin does not speak to, or for, me.

Note to Newseek: Karl Rove is causing irreperable damage to Newsweek's credibility.

I don't need to hear "reason" from an author who committed treason.
Newsweek, please spare us the invective, lies and "opinions" of Karl Rove in the balance of your news. Could I suggest Pat Buchanan? At least he's not a criminal like Rove, who should be in jail for his work against our democracy. Shame on him. I don't need to read his "perspective" in your magazine.

The chairman of McCains campaign recently said that people don't vote on issues they vote on a personality composite. Which means he is trying to sell you personality instead of results.
He believes people will vote against their own interests.

    Found this interesting post:
Comment: McCain ??? Palin and The Oil Industry
In 2006 , Bp Alaska, Exxon Mobile, Chevron and Conoco Phillips gave over 1.7 Million dollars to AK First Org. Inc. and to Alaska Oil and Gas Association to repeal Measure 2 of the Alaska Constitution. They succeeded with the help of Palin. By spreading the wealth their 1.7 Million dollar Investment created a windfall of profits only rivaled by Mr. Buffet himself.

With Palin???s help and under the watchful eye of the Bush. Cheney and Mc Cain administration the Oil Emirates will also receive credits against future taxation worth even more billions of dollars. It appears that Palin and the Bush administration are paying the oil companies back all the taxes they have paid since the inception of Measure 2.

What do we know about Palin? Not much according to the Media. We do know Governor Palin is the Public Member for the Alaska Oil and Natural Gas Conservation Commission. What you should know is that the mission of Alaska Oil and Natural Gas Conservation Commission is to work hand in hand with the oil industry to help maximize production, improve resource recovery and to reduce the rights of land owners through its correlative rights mandate. They are task with overseeing the disposal of all toxic waste produced by companies such as Alaska Oil, Chevron, Exxon and BP Alaska.

According to the ??? Inlet Keeper??? these companies are ???legally??? pumping 2 Billion Gallons of toxic waste into the fisheries of Cook Inlet annually. Governor Pain is one of three controlling members of this group comprised of One Geologist, One Petroleum Engineer and one public member, ie Palin.

Wow! its no wonder they picked her for VP. The media chooses to ignore or not care about these facts. Just as with the mis-information they brought us with Iraq they have again been bought and paid for by special interest. Yes afraid of going against the powerful political machine of the Bush administrative and detrimental to the public of the United States and rest of the world; our news media is again not reporting the facts! Surprised; no I???m not but you should be!

The oil companies are once again putting their own candidate into office. They are selling us a Miss America candidate with her cute little smile in a business suit. A candidate who is in charge of and has been responsible for saving oil companies billions by letting them pump two billion gallons of toxic waste into the Cook Inlet and Ice Fields of Alaska annually . You wonder why the Ice is melting maybe it???s the Billions of Gallons of toxic waste compliments of our own greed and unwillingness to reduce our dependence on oil!

Vote for Real Change vote against the Emirates of Alaska and their Palin Pawn, the Mavericks and Cowboys of Arizona, Texas and beyond!

Palin's mannerisms and vocal inflections are a cross between Francis McDormand's character in Fargo and Miss Nancy of Romper Room. God help us if we have to suffer through 4 years of her faux folksy drivel.

The very idea that Newsweek even runs a column by Karl Rove as he if were not a vile political operative for the right wing of the GOP, and some kind of legit pundit.

As Annie B said, Rove ought to be in jail. Is it any wonder I stopped reading Newsweek a decade ago, switching to The Econmist.

Most of Newsweek's reporting is vapid as George Bush's and Sarah Palin's minds.

The very idea that Newseek runs a column by Karl Roove as if he were a legit commentator, instead of a political operative for the GOP is disgusting.
These are the kind of reasons I stopped reading Newsweek years ago and took to The Econmist.

Asset? Who are you kidding? A person who insults the intelligence of at least half of America is not an asset. And today she's out spewing nonsense about Obama and terrorists. I have a question for you Sarah? Would you say a terrorist is a person belonging to an oganization who threatens the security of the U.S.? When then let's arrest your husband Todd for belong to the party that would split Alaska off from the USA.

Karl Rove should be in JAIL, not spewing forth his political venom to further corrup the political process. Along with Dick Cheney Rove will go down as one of the most corrupt and evil Americans ever. Newsweek - why are you giving a voice to this repulsive person???

We are still suffering through 8 years of misery with a faux folksy President who understands "jack" about anything. Why would we want to repeat that nightmare with Palin?

  • Posted By: jefflz @ 10/04/2008 9:25:33 PM

Wind up this Pit Bull and it barks too!. Palin is a mouthpiece for McCain so that he can avoid spewing slanderous remarks himself. Its a matter of honor, you know. Send out Palin. She will say just about anything and already has. . We are just entering the dirtiest phase of McCain???s already nasty but losing campaign. Obama will need to be super vigilant to fight this garbage and he will need to send out his attack dogs as well. The SwiftBoaters, Rovian dirty tricksters, Jerome Corsi, Willie Horton ads, Scary Sarah, its going to be like a Hollywood horror movie until we put the wooden stake into the McCain campaign on November 4th.

    Hey Rove,
Your article does recommend little policy solutions for dire strait Mccain-Palin ticket and more trash talking points to embrace, no wonder we are in this current situation because of people like you.
Yes, Obama might not be too experienced but he has the curiosity and intellect to lead the country unlike you bums (Bush and yourself) who has shred the country into pieces (domestic and foreign)
But I have to give you your due, Rove you have uncanny ability to smell human weakness, the same quality Palin has but what she lacks is the curiosity for the society around her.

Republicans are reaping their just reward for lowering the bar with Bush. Just like a company depends on promoting the best and brightest to leadership for success, so too do political parties only thrive if those most deserving promotions get them. Every Republican woman who knows the issues better than Sarah Palin should be outraged at the choice. Nothing is worse for women in politics than when a Sarah Palin gets the job instead of someone more capable and prepared.

America depends on the strength of opposing political forces to test ideas. I don't trust projects from the Left until I've had a chance to read what the best minds on the Right have to say about them. I can tell you that the motivation for many of us on the Left to challenge the Clinton establishment, is to bring the kind of change in leadership that the Right also needs.

The only thing more sad than what the Palin VP pick says about the state of the Republican Party is that most Republicans are so closed off from different perspectives that they have little sense of the corruption of ideology that has been their Party's undoing. I want to believe that many Republicans will vote against McCain, to begin the process of repudiating the false prophets who have let the money changers in the temple. In the heat of this political process, if the Grand Old Party wipes away the crud of Roves, O'Reillys, and Limbaughs that brought us to this point; you could then see the people who should be leading the Party. I hope for a stronger anvil and hammer on the Right and the Left, that from thee two the American family may forge the plans that will help us deal with the challenges we face at home and abroad.

John McCain's campaign perfectly illustrates the adage "pride goes before a fall." McCain seems to feel that the electorate is as shallow as he, and will swallow any desperate, absurd lie and spin put to them. He is in for a rude surprise. Barack Obama has John McCain outclassed in every category. The very idea of electing a tired and desperate old curmudgeon like John McCain is as revolting as insulting. The only thing capable of defeating Barack Obama now is the very real and very deep vein of racism that pervades America. If racism wins, this country will deserve the lawless and corrupt administration it will get.

"Remember the financial guidelines. Make sure you have 3-6 months of untouched income at all times for living expenses in savings. Housing, taxes, insurance and utilities are not to be more than 25 percent of income. Credit cards are suppose to be paid off each month and never used for consumables like gas and food unless they are paid off each month. Don't throw money at risky stock market plans unless money is something you can safely lose. Live simply, exercise and eat right to lower health risks. These financial guidelines, if followed, probably keep you out of the economic mess."

That sounds great... but tell me, how does one save 3-6 months of expenses living paycheck to paycheck?

Yeah, such a great nation that we just had to kick out $700 billion to pay for the Bushonomics of the past 8 years. We were ONCE a great nation, soon to be again on Nov. 4. Obama/Biden '08!!!

  • Posted By: rockye @ 10/04/2008 9:05:38 PM

IN MY OPINION: Hey Karl! yoho! Palin is running against Joe Biden, not Obama. You are comparing bananas to apples: Obama to Palin. Obama is the apple, Palin is the banana: crooked. You are one of those republicans who are inflating Palin's image and making her look like the greatest banana that ever hanged from a tree. You have seen her performance with the media. She does not cut it; and, you are still pushing her and inflating her image! In my opinion, you are acting like an idiot, and you know it! He dicho! (I have said it!)

    VOTE DEMOCRAT: DO THE MATH-8 + 4 = 12? HELL NO! 12 NO! HELL NO! 12 NO!
