Palin, McCain and the Weeks Ahead

ABUSE OF POWER BY PALIN REPORT, COMING OCTOBER 10th. Don't let the McCain campaign confuse you with the spin they are planing for that day!

I don't trust quick-draw Sara (or McCain for that matter) as veep or president. For me, the bottom line is whoever sits in that office needs to THINK before they blink. Can't go into situations guns a-blazing, shoot first ask questions later. It's that type of management that's gotten us in trouble so far. The Iraq War. Afghanistan War. And now $700b Bailout. We don't have $7.00 let alone $700billion. I just can't take it anymore! It's annoying and frustrating. Nor do I want someone who has to "suspend" one thing in order to do something else. Learn to multi-task and for pete's sake learn to use a damn computer! If McCain wins this election then God help us. In the mean time I'm going to seriously consider moving to another country. because McCain is the basket we will all going to hell in.

The folsie attitude and the winks were a turn-off for a lot of people. I cannot imagine a professional female responding in that manner during a debate. McCain screwed-up. He should have selected a more qulaified candidate, and he would not have to worry about the election. Maybe Mick Rooney is still available.

Wow.. Karl Rove writing for Newsweek !!! That should have appeared as a paid advertisement! Any "article" by Rove should be heradlined ... KARL ROVE SAYS... as he's the NeoCon tool and mouthpiece. He, and buddy Steve Schmidt and Bush and McCain and Palin live in some alternate reality !!! The country is in the worse shape EVER in every dept despite lawmakers throwing hundreds of billions of taxpayers money at the problems they all created thru foolishness or neglect.. the "war", Katrina, the economy and a host of others. The USA is a high speed train wreck in the works.. and they choose an angry, senile old codger and an empty headed winking cheerleader to get it back on track. GOOD LUCK !!!!!

mccain + palin = the MCPAIN ticket

Wake up, this woman is seemingly folksie, charming, but disturbingly power abusing, and she would seek more power as VP. Interestingly even Karl Rove said that her folksie qualities are not in themselves candidate qualities. Further interesting because that is all she's got, but given that it is a facade, she doesn't even have that....McPain for the future.

Reading this I obviously felt this was a piece of the republican neocon propoganda and I was astonished and even laughed a bit when I read the authors name...Karl Rove. Go back to screwing up the country and not writing political "commetary".

As always, the "architect" hit it right on the head. Unfortunately, although Mr. Rove as the quintessential Republican is loathe to come out and say, there is no way McCain will pull this one out. The Democratic Party will slip into the White House in Jan. 2009 the same way they did it in Jan. 1997....with pure luck at having been opposed by a very weak Republican Party nominee. One of the weakest, in fact, in political history.

McCain+Palin = McPAIN

Palin wants more power as VP...for a power abuser, that's not surprising. Folksie charming, with a wink. A wink usually means.... what I've just said, I mean the opposite. When asked in the debate how she would make a difference as VP she responded by doing what she did in Alaska "appointing new people".....since when does the VP appoint anyone? She fired everyone who disagreed with her, personalized political opposition, and appointed her high school cronies qualified or not, based on loyalty.

Does it mean anything that she refuses to appear in response to a supboena judged to be valid by a high court? Since when does an office holder have that privilege unless they see themselves above the law? isn't that exactly what you filter out of a candidacy? Folksie, charming, disturbingly power abusing. Wake up call.

Funny how Hilary was way more qualified than Obama, but the Old Boy Democratic Network teamed up to select Obama! They want someone that they can shape, and mold to their liking, and Hilary had way too much a mind of her own!

Just look at the first big decision Obama made, picked an Old Boy like Biden! Change! Yeah Right!

As a Republican for more than 60 plus years, and a real Alaskan, I am totally astonished that
McCain would pick this particular person , when he had a huge pool of very intelligent, capable
women to pick from. I am also fed up with the nastiness, lies, and other "Brownshirter" tactics
showing up from the party faithful. Unless it changes, I will probably be voting democratic!

As an Alaskan I can tell you she does head a state with the stats cited above. However, the legislature has had to intervene in the Executive branch because she is unable to manage it. These interventions are unheard of in the history of the state. I know because it happened in the Alaskan Department where I worked until recently. She is unable to manage the running of a simple meeting. I know because my boss and good friend was a political appointee and witnessed it. It turns out she is also very dishonest. That's why she is unfit for the office. We have had incompetent dishonost people for eight years in DC we can't afford more. We have to get beyond, "Gee isn't she nice" and get to competence and thoughtfulness as the standard. The decisions we make cannot be based on platitudes and soundbites. Please look at the policies proposed and get away from the slogans. McCain made a big mistake for governing the country but maybe not politically - which is most important to you?

On the topic of themes... I fail to see how repeating something often enough makes it true.

McCain is no maverick - his views do not represent any significant departure from the Bush administration. He does not buck the system and champion the little guy, quite the opposite. I remember Bush, Sr. advocating the same tax policies in the '92 election with Clinton and America didn't buy it then. Unfortunately, when Bush, Jr. was elected we erased eight years of economic growth with an eight-year empirical study of how to expand the chasm between rich and poor and how to systematically marginalize the middle class. It is time that he and his party accept responsibility for steering this nation on a course to catastrophe.

McCain is not better qualified to be Commander in Chief - although his strategy of the "Surge" was successful, by definition it will come to an end. Instead of noting success and planning for the future, he refuses to move the discussion forward and focuses instead on the past. I also don't equate being "strong on foreign policy" to being arrogant and rude when dealing with other nations, which seem to be McCain's strong points. The ultimate irony is that McCain does not accept the idea that Iraq's government may want us to leave as opposed to having an open-ended commitment ??? what a slap in the face for a government we are trying to empower and whose confidence we are trying to build.

McCain is not uniquely gifted in garnering bipartisan support. In fact, one need only look at the sequence of his involvement in the bailout to completely understand his "bipartisan" motivations. To briefly recap, he made a big show of inserting himself into a process, the process broke down, he blamed others, the process eventually met with marginal success, and he then took credit for it. I cannot imagine a scenario that would better illustrate the concept of a ???Spotlighter.??? It is telling that the holdouts for passage of the bailout were members from his own party ??? if he doesn???t command the respect of his own party, how can he construct bipartisan compromises?

I am surprised Karl Rove continues to have a forum; however, in an odd way I am grateful that he does. I acknowledge that some accept phrases repeated often enough as facts, but I am also optimistic that exposure will lead to discovery ??? discovery of fallacies and faulty arguments that have characterized this style of debate and policy discussion.

Most of the People that are posting negative comments on Palin are either coward, or jealous!

Jealous because they don't have the guts, and poise to do what she did in the debate while standing up to the most pressure any candidate running for any office has ever faced (Check out the ratings, and that says it all).

Cowards because if they had to debate under that amount of pressure, they would either not show up, or give birth to some unmentionables while up on stage!
