This coming from someone who should be in JAIL for running away from a subpoena. Karl Rove is trying really really hard to get the republicans in the executive office as this is his only hope that he avoid a prison sentence. I think there is a conflict of interest here... Newsweek - I am surprised and dismayed that you print Karl Rove's rantings that are in his own interest.

For eight years, Bush and the republicans have conditioned America to be afraid and live in fear. They are now playing Americans for all they can get out of that fear card.

Fear and smear is how the republicans gain POWER and CONTROL OVER THE PEOPLE. LIES, DISTORTIONS AND EXAGGERATIONS are the tools they use to accomplish their purpose. This is what we are seeing right now.

If they make it, once again when the election is over, all the peon voters will be cast to the wayside and power, money and indifference to the middle and lower class will reign once again. We will be stuck for four or eight more years of the past.

I reject these false qualifications for President. I reject the abundance of lies, distortions and complete anti Obama fabrications which are condoned be the McCain campaign and appears on this and other web sites.

No talk on the economy, health care or any of the other issues with respect to what it takes for ordinary people to live and prosper in the reality of day to day.

Only attacks with concocted false relationships on Obamas character, even though the major news organizations have concluded that no real relationships existed or does exist.

HOW MANY OF YOU WILL AGAIN ALLOW YOURSELVES TO BE USED AND MANIPULATED IN THIS WAY?

I for one will NOT bow to their fear. I will NOT vote for the dishonorable one who attempts to GAIN THE PRESIDENCY BY PLAYING US FOR FOOLS THROUGH LIES AND DECEIT.

I will vote for the one who seeks the Presidency VIA THE HIGH ROAD WITH VISION, A COMMAND OF THE ISSUES AND A GENUINE CONCERN FOR ALL PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY.

Wow!.... Dear wendy027.. I want to be clear... I am White...I was at Columbia when Obama was there (same graduating class)...and I never knew of anyone getting into that school on an affirmative action miracle! Let's be fair...let's be realistic! And for the record, does it matter if he did not make straight A's? I think the last President who did was Bill Clinton, a Democrat.... By the way..I am a Republican..

Why on earth are you giving Mr. Rove a platform? He should be behind bars, not expressing his toxic views in the mainstream media.

Nice manipulative article, Karl. Could you try and hose the reader a little bit more into believing that McCain and Palin would be any different than Bush? Your NLP (that's Neuro Linguistic Programming for those of you who aren't crooked politicians) skills have always been first rate, but we all know that you are the one to blame for the last eight years of George Bush and now as an "unofficial" advisor to the McCain campaign you're pulling the same lame tricks from the last two elections. I like to put a little more faith in the American people than you do, and I predict that the majority of them will see through your stunts and refuse to be fooled again. Your manipulation tactics have hit a wall, and that wall was built from the ground up with true inspiration as the foundation.

Sincerely against all that Karl stands for,
    Katie Wiens

    Dear Mr. Rove,

there are a few people with the perceptual and intellectual skills that can blend the advice of others to their ideas and solve major problems while having little "McCain experience".. JFK was 41 when taking office with his lack of experience. Your protege George W.'s experience was in ripping off the nation. He did a good job. Now McCain is one bullheaded loner that has shown very little experience or effort in consulting with others when making decisions. McCain belongs in the Senate where he has risen to his highest level of incompetence. He is a sentinel of legislatlon and enjoys the bickering. But with all his lip service of experience he is a man without a plan, simply a watchdog with little diplomatic skills. Obama -- "a man, a plan, a canal, Panama". This palindrone captures the vision of Obama, now 47.

PS Your Bush victories are closest wins ever in presidental elections and maybe the most corrupt.

    The Antichrist!:
When George Soros failed to obtain the election of his candidate, John Kerry, in 2004, he brooded for a while, even said he might get out of politics altogether, but he just couldn???t stop himself. He has stated publicly that he wishes to burst the ???bubble of American supremacy,??? because he says our preeminence in the world is a detriment to global ???equilibrium.??? So far, he has failed, but he keeps on trying.

And Mr. Soros has made no secret either of the fact that he sees the shortest way to effect political shake-ups, what he terms ???regime changes,??? is through very difficult economic conditions.

America has not yet felt the full force of Soros style economic shock treatment. But others have.

Soros made his first billion in 1992 by shorting the British pound with leveraged billions in financial bets, and became known as the man who broke the Bank of England. He broke it on the backs of hard-working British citizens who immediately saw their homes severely devalued and their life savings cut drastically in comparative worth almost overnight.

When the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997 threatened to spread globally, George Soros was right in the thick of it. Soros was accused by the Malaysian Prime Minister of causing the collapse with his monetary machinations, and he was branded in Thailand as an ???economic war criminal??? who ???sucks the blood from the people.??? Right in the middle of this crisis, Soros dashed off his book, The Crisis of Global Capitalism, which demanded a ???third way??? toward economic stability.

Wake up, America, before it is too late!!!!

Karl, you are the man who gave us the worst president that we have ever had two times in a row, by hook and crook. You are not qualified to say which of these two running now are qualified for the office. You are persona non opinionata. We really don't care what you think.

The link below contains a purported list of the top 25 in Congress who got contributions from the folks at Fannie and Freddie. Obama is listed third, after Dodd and Kerry, even though Obama is just a junior Senator. Obama is followed next by Clinton. Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi are on the list as well.

The last link below describes how some in Congress tried to use the original version of the bailout bill to divert money eventually recovered to groups like ACORN. See:

Obama's received more contributions from employees of Freddie and Fannie.
However, when looking at the contributions of the board of directors and the lobbyists for Fannie and Freddie, McCain got about $160,000 while Obama got about $16,000.
      So, who did better?

Looks like I misplaced my first comments....so let's try this...

"The Daily Show" did a nice piece on Karl Rove where it showed him praising Sarah Palin for her experience as a small town mayor and a governor who has been in office for two years. It then showed an earlier interview where he dismissed Tim Kaine's candidacy because he was the mayor of a small city (Richmond) and had only been Virginia governor for two years.
Sarah Palin is Alaska's answer to Jesse Ventura--she tapped a vein of anger and resentment that consisted of throwing out the incumbents. Her positive steps have also included a number of missteps. Even though she is able to recite talking points in a debate, I have not seen much else.

  • Posted By: Ann Carlson @ 10/06/2008 5:17:18 PM

Palin cannot attack Obama's acquaintance with Ayers, because she lives with a man who wants Alaska to secede from the Union! Her ties to Alaska's secession movement are very strong. America, wake up! Todd Palin will do everything he can to undermine America if Sarah is elected!

Clueless comment, but I can't let your misleading post go by unanswered. BHO has the most questionable background of any candidate in the past century.
Radical, heretical Black Liberation theology church, where BHO found a mentor, pastor and spiritual leader for twenty years. SDS/Weather Underground alumni club honorary membership.
Indentured servanthood to the Gold Coast liberal establishment of Chicago.

The first comment may have jumped to a conclusion but this one also does not seem to come from many facts. It looks like something I would hear from Sean Hannity.

How does 4 years into a 6 year term equal less than 1/2 a term in the US Senate?
Is this that 'new math' I've heard of were the propaganda is more important than the correct answer.
Palin's 22 months as Governor of one of America's least populous States is OK because she can "inspire, the public is an asset", but Obama's 8 years in the Illinois State Senate and Obama inspires America is a liability, because he only makes good speeches?
Which side of your mouth will you peak out of next?
