Newsweek, I am done with you. First McCain not airbrushed, now Sarah Palin!!!!! and what is wrong with being one of the FOLKS? HOW DARE YOU. On Obama, A Rising Star Beyond Blue vs Red, Black & White, Shaking up Old Assumptions. On Michelle Obama, She Calls Him Her Rock. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Be straight with Readers and change your name to Newsweek for Liberals. I would like a reply
    from someone who cares.

I agree with you. Somone who is a heartbeat away from the presidency should be investigated.
The right wing conservatives are going to lose this one. I was on the fence McCain or Obama, but when McCain did the same thing he acussed Obama of not having experience and then nominated Palin. Come on give me a break!!!!
She governs a state of 650,000 give or take a few moose and bear. No wolves because she cruely condones hunting them from planes. (Give the wolves a rifle and let them shot back fair is fair)
    OBAMA all the way

Meacham, you're helping turning America into a socialistic country, and contributing to it's downfall. Your lib ideas can not turn this All American gal into something so bad.. I guess she's all that a women's lib is not, and that scares you. What happened to the "Greatest Generatio" media and support for America! I just hope that Europe doesn't take us over again!

  • Posted By: humblepops @ 10/09/2008 11:29:23 AM

Hey Meacham, you're full of s-----! Why don't you do some real investigation on Biden and Obama...You'll be surprised on all the goddies you can find. I wrote you, spelled your name wrong, and gave you some advise.. You're on your way to increase America's downfall, and maybe the Europeans will take back America! If you lived under a non capitalistic government you would feel a bit different! Palin is an All American woman, not a freak women's libber, but a good person, so different from you and the other bias media!

I just watched the clip on Fox News in which Andrea Tantaros said that she was cancelling her Newsweek subscription and suggesting people to do the same because she disagreed with the picture of Sarah Palin. It is interesting that a Republican media consultant would focus on the cover and not the inside; perhaps that is the same criteria McCain used to choose Palin. Just send Ms. Tantaros's magazines here as I just subscribed to Newsweek.

I would like to see a cover with Obama, Ayers, Wright, Farakan, Phalger, Russo as one big happy family. If Obama did not know the shady side of his Mentors, how can he be fit to be our President?

  • Posted By: geno @ 10/09/2008 10:04:40 AM

I see how the picture of Sarah Palin was enhanced to make her look bad. Your magazine is not fit to wrap my garbage in. We too will never again read it. I would encourage subscribers to cancel.

Dear Jon, With all respect, your cover shot of Palin was a journalistic miscarriage. As a democratic feminist, I may not agree with her stand on certain things, but I do respect the fact that she is a woman on her own two feet, as am I. I think the media in general makes an assumption that all democratic women agree with the way republicans, in general, and women, in particular, are portrayed in the public eye. Do all of you think that we are
so stupid as to fall for this shoddy portrayal of women, whatever their political affiliation? We get it! And it isn't pretty. I've enjoyed your magazine for many years and considered it among the "must reads" for information. But as a woman, I can't stand by and tolerate the lack of respect toward a sister woman. You won't be hearing from me again. And I won't be spending my money on quasi-tabloid journalism. To put it in your level of understanding, you just shot yourself in the foot!

If Newsweek really cared about Americans you would do a major investigation on Fannie & Freddie and the Obama worshiping Democrats who caused this financial meltdown. Get your priorities straight

SHAME OF YOU WITH THAT PALIN COVER SHOT!!!!!!!! I AM FINISHED WITH MAGAZINE NOW!

  • Posted By: nothappywiththecover @ 10/09/2008 9:18:54 AM

SHAME ON YOU FOR YOUR COVER OF PALIN. I AM DONE WITH YOUR MAGAZINE!

  • Posted By: bsurfer @ 10/09/2008 9:13:46 AM

Your cover dipicting half of Gov. Palin is nothing short of disguting. Obviously you don't care if you offend all female readers and all moderate & conservative readers. But will you continue to not care about all of us when we all quit reading your magazine? Ditto to 345ls1.

  • Posted By: becky33333 @ 10/09/2008 8:32:58 AM

although I am a staunch Obama supporter, I must say shame on you!!! You have forgotten the meaning of journalism and have lowered yourself to "RAG status.

  • Posted By: illinoisvoter @ 10/09/2008 12:33:13 AM

What a sexist magazine and obviously, editor. I never knew. It's not hard to figure out with the Sarah Palin cover and your "Top Ten" story of Hugh Herner's breakup with his Playboy bunny girlfriend. WHO CARE! Don't your think Newsweek would have something better to report on this week?

Bad journalism and even worse editor! I won't be reading Newsweek anymore!

If this election cycle has demonstrated anything, it is that in order to preserve democracy in this country, it is passed time we reconsidered the additional protections provided the media by the Supreme Court in New York Times v. Sullivan, 376 U.S. 254 (1964), which protects the media from most slander and libel suits. While perhaps noble at the time in its conception, the media has abundantly demonstrated that for the advancement of their own political agenda, on both sides, and to fill the demands of the 24/7 news cycle, they are willing to abandon any pretense of objectivity or, more importantly, of journalistic ethics. Since they cannot exercise the power they have been given responsibly on their own, perhaps it is necessary to return the threat of legal sanction under which they operated prior to 1954.

Every person who is a subscriber to this so called magazine should cancel their subscription. This left wing, nut case of an editor Jon Meacham must not have ever heard of jornalistic integrity. He has none. To be so in bed with the Obama camp and their fringe left wing ideology may be his personal business but don't use the magazine as your personal brothel prostituting your trash. To pretend that your magazine is in any way main stream is laughable. Lets call it by what it is...socialist propaganda! Shame.

  • Posted By: Arelius Frazzini @ 10/08/2008 6:09:14 PM

Every subscriber of this biased, left winged propaganda machine should immediately cancel their subscription for it's blatant irresponsible attempt to photograph and report on VP candidate Sarah Palin with such indignity and spiteful hatered. This proves that journalism in America is dead. We now only have partisan hacks running magazines, papers, periodicals and the like with no fundemental integrity. Shame on you.

  • Posted By: taj713 @ 10/08/2008 6:06:17 PM

I'm stunned at how low you have sunken - shame on you and this magazine for the bias against Sarah Palin. I notice that your coverage of Obama certainly was more positive...not being able to report without bias means I won't be reading your magazine again. I will cancel my membership immediately.

  • Posted By: taj713 @ 10/08/2008 6:03:44 PM

Shame on your magazine for being so obvious about your disdain for Sarah Palin - I notice that you don't treat Obama that way. Liberal news venues and holloywood have encouraged me to vote Republican - I have been a Democrat for 50 years and am embarrased by what I see. I am also cancelling my membership to you magazine - shame shame shame

  • Posted By: Caherrada @ 10/08/2008 3:39:50 PM

Sara Palin is beautiful even if your magazine did not see fit to do a little touch up and she will be more beautiful when she wins VP. God Bless American and keep us out of the hands of the radical liberals who are trying to destroy our country. One Nation under God!

  • Posted By: Caherrada @ 10/08/2008 3:29:09 PM

Gov. Palin is a everyday person who thinks and has the same ideals of most everyday Americans who love our country. I would never subscribe to Newsweeks due to their far left liberal views. Although if I found one in the streets I may use it to start the fireplace, I guess it could be good for that.
