I still do not see why everyone is saying Sarah is not ready to be VP and Obama is ready to be president? Obama is the least qualified presidential candidate in history. It is only because of media bias and white guilt that he is even the nominee.
Why does the media report on the 6% who say they won't vote for him because he is black (these of his own party) and not report that something like 98% of blacks voted for him in the primaries. That is racism, just like the 6% is racism. But the media is so enamored with Obama and this chance to make history that they are stealing this election from either Hillary or John. When we let the media take over our political system we are in dire straights indeed.

johnderosaone: re: your comment at 12:39:29: You are obviously illiterate, as you can't even write with proper grammar, syntax or spelling. You really need too learn ENGLISH, something you right wingers are always advocating! ( For example, you wrote: "you had better stay with MSNBC their good at name calling not the facts!" This should be: "You had better stay with MSNBC, THEY'RE good at name calling, not the facts!" Also, there is no way that a question mark can appear at the end of your first sentence!) I guess you like Palin because she can't speak our language very well herself!

The GOP is grasping at straws. They have nothing substantive against Obama, but boy are they good at making up lies. This has been a leading Karl Rove tactic for years, and if America falls for this again we should be ashamed of ourselves. Not to mention the obvious fact that this is all a smokescreen to keep the focus off of the fact that Palin and her Alaska associates are in contempt of court for refusing to testify in the Troopergate hearings. After Nixon and Clinton, Americans are to some extent jaded, but really, would you want a VP who refuses to attend hearings in her own defense, and instructs her employees not to testify? That smells like guilt. It surely doesn't give the impression that she has done no wrong and has nothing to hide.

This year, the GOP offers you an angry old man and a woman who, while personable, is desperately uniformed about national and international issues. Both of them are far right politically. McCain used to be a maverick, but since 2004 he's voted 90% with Bush. McCain's policies are not original or reformist, despite how he's tried to co-opt Obama's popular message of change. Please go to the websites of both of the candidates and read their platforms. Obama's Blueprint for Change has more good ideas than McCain's plan. Compare them yourself. Obama's basic premise is that tax dollars should be spent to make America stronger and to improve the lives and well being of our people. For example, he uses education programs to train a new technology workforce, contributing to energy independence, creating jobs and improving the economy. When you read McCain's plan you will find no over-arching design to get America back on track. Instead you'll find more tax cuts for the wealthy, de-regulation of the health care industry, and a stated intent to overturn Roe v. Wade.

I'm a Republican. Although I embrace some forward-thinking social values, in the past I've rarely voted Democrat. My thinking was that since Republicans grow robust economies, by voting Republican I'd be endorsing a plan that would grow wealth for our nation, and then we'd be able to afford social programs. It was a good strategy for a couple decades, but I have to say that the tenure of W. Bush has changed my mind. Not only is there nothing fiscally responsible about today's GOP, the insidious alignment of the party with religious intolerance has really turned me off.

On the other hand, the intelligent luminous thought of Barack Obama has ignited my passion for politics and my patriotism. I want a President who puts America first and can get the economy back on track. In my mind, values voting takes a back burner when we are faced with a meltdown of the economy. It is time for a change, a real change. The Republicans have controlled the Presidency for 28 of the past 40 years, but they have fallen down on the job. The Democrats have a stellar candidate this year, and I am voting for Obama.

She's not 'joe six pack', she's worth between 1 and 2 million dollars, owing to the largess of the tax code she only pays 15% of her $166,000 + income- top 15 of income in US. She comes from a family of school teachers- middle income with health insurance and defined pension plans. She's a college graduate, with no lingering college loans to pay- Other than having a child with a disability- hey join the club. What exactly does she have in common with Joe six pack. That's as ridiculous saying that Dave Letterman is Joe six pack because he sponsors a NASCAR car. At best she's trying to speak like someone who comes from below the proverbiable "Mason-Dixon" line. However, have been born, raised, grown up in the south- she has not even mastered that skill all that well. However, if she is what the voters want for someone a heartbeat away from the Presidency, G-d Bless y'all.

There are legitimate criticisms one can make about Governor Palin regarding policy, national experience, etc. However, she easily identifies with middle class voters. The statistics you indicate show she is upper middle class. Joe Biden is upper middle class. Barack Obama is off the charts, having earned $4.2 million last year, primariliy due to book sales which were magnified by his presidential campaign/
There are legitimate criticisms to be made about Palin, but to say she doesn't identify with the middle class is not true, and gives comfort to those who support her.

It is baloney to say Clinton was born to an ordinary family. His father was a bigamist who married his mother without bothering to await the decree of divorce from his first wife. Therefore, Bill Clinton is flegally a bastard.

Sarah Palin irritates Leftist journalists because she by connecting with working class Americans threatens the election of their chosen secular messiah. To get elected, Obama needs more than the Dukakis coalition of academics, journalists & other kooky hard Leftists in addition to the black community. He needs the votes of a considerable number of working class whites, a demographic he alienated with his "Cling to" speech and the very demographic to whom Sarah most appeals..

Hard Leftists, like their Marxist bedfellows, claim to admire & strive to aid the working class, but in fact they disdain the working class & its values.

Now your bringing Clinton into the picture. If this is the strongest argument as to why Obama should not be president, I am going now. These postings become funnier by the minute. I was going to leave 20 minutes ago; your posting brought me back to the fray

      • Posted By: meeder0010 @ 10/05/2008 2:24:10 PM

well if you knew what you were talking about, which obviously you don't. It was the Clinton administration that caused this economic meltdown. Giving every poor soul the right to home ownership whether they could afford it or not.. Greedy mortgage companies taking full advantage of the situation., knowing well what the outcome would be down the road. After they made their money, you think they cared?

        • Posted By: fccFH @ 10/06/2008 12:59:49 PM

Clearly you do not know what you are talking about. Clinton may have come up with initiatives that down the road led to this crisis, but with his initial plans, thorough government oversight and regulation had been implemented to ensure that a crisis of this magnitude never erupted. It was the Bush administration, with their talks of deregulation and government-out-of-my-business (the same song McCain/Palin are currently singing) that got rid of government oversight that monitored these firms that allowed our economy to spiral out of control. Don???t kid yourself.

This is a message to HIllary supporters who have changed sides. Palin has set women rights back a hundred years. Now we can not speak English, we have to be cute, wink, wink, and all the time saying I am being picked on because I am a woman. Hillary stood up with dignity. She wears a mans pants well. She oozes equality. Palin is around to help a man with his tie. She can not speak English, she can not answer questions, and she can not think for herself.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 10/06/2008 12:57:01 PM

All the more reason Hillary should be on the ticket. What an absolute nightmare this election has turned out to be

    • Posted By: Pallisor @ 10/06/2008 12:46:05 PM

Wow. A hundred years? Really? Well, you don't have to worry with it then... that means button shoes and you've just lost the right to vote.

People like you are the reason why Barack Hussein Obama is ahead in the polls, nationally and in the battleground states, .........in case you havent noticed; it doesnt look like Americans want any Joe 6-Packs and Mavericks in the White house. Stop your blatant racism, .........your making me GOSH DARN, wolf shootin', gun-toting annoyed.

I don't care that the man is black! I do however care that he is the most liberal senator, I do care that he doesn't have a normal American name (a black candidate with an American name would be fine). America should be run by American's and I personally don't know any "real" American's with Hussien in their name. NOBAMA!

        • Posted By: Diligentleman @ 10/05/2008 5:33:46 PM

It is not his name, it is his agenda. If he were being honest from the outset, he would have been out of the p[rimary in Iowa. Instead being so good at not saying anything early on he then got ahed and had to start getting someone to write him some ideas for actually governing in case he won the dem nomination. It sill is not what he wants to do because none of us have heard it yet. Tha is why when he doesn't have a teleprompter he goes haywire and starts saying things he has to explain later when he gets to review it and get back to the gameplan of lies and deciet. This is also why he doesn't have anyone from his past on the campaign trail talking about all the things he has done. Even the New York Times finally had to do an article on his Weather Underground buddy, Bill Ayers, who they then concluded was a casual relationship. This even though O'bama served on board of 4 members or launching a campaign from his house. And if you want to say "oh,that Pentagon bombing was when O'Bama was jsut a child" Ayers came out after 9/11 disappointed that his groups bombings had not caused as much damage as the other terrorists did.on that day.

Hopefully there will be enough intelligent non-bigoted voters who vote on issues not names to swing this election in the right direction for the country at large. So keep up your arguments, Joe six pack, always important to know what Joe six pack himself is thinking!

Yet another disgusting article demeaning a SITTING GOVERNOR WITH A HIGH APPROVAL RATING! This is beyond ridiculous. She has just as much experience as Obama. I don't see any covers decrying him. Once again, the folks expect the media to be fair about their coverage. The media has let the American people down. i see nothing about ACORN, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac and those ties to Obama. I see nothing about the cesspool of politics that Obama came out of in Chicage, and I see nothing about the 200 million dollars of fishy contributions he has received. The media should be ashamed of themselves.

    • Posted By: fccFH @ 10/06/2008 12:47:17 PM

Have you ever thought that the McCain camp would not want the media to attack Obama so vehemently on subjects such as Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac, or tie him to sleazy politicians given that McCain???s own history is even more seeped in shady actions than Obamas. And quite frankly, watch Fox News sometime- the crap they peddle far makes up for anything not being covered by the actual media. Wait, I take that back- given the one-sided perspective of the muddled content you wrote, my guess is that all of your information comes from Fox News already. Makes sense- Fox has pretty and simple people on its networks, maybe they will offer Palin a job.

    • Posted By: hyjanks @ 10/06/2008 9:47:34 AM

I believe that 85% of those "fishy contributions" have come from ten to thirty-five dollar donations. Boy! That's a lot of fish!

  • Posted By: kimb54 @ 10/06/2008 12:45:02 PM

From the beginning Sarah Palin has touted her vast experience as a reason to be VP. Now that she has been exposed as completely lacking any skills (except maybe cute!) to fulfill the job, she has dumb down her credentials to ???Joe six-pack???. I am amazed of all those people who were defending how smart and ready she was even to be President, now are crowing how what a Pain Jane she is. One with no clue just a regular Gal. Is this what the nation needs at the moment? Just anyone off the street who???s only skill is to interject folksy lingo to the major issues of the day!

  • Posted By: Ashton @ 10/06/2008 12:35:18 PM

Great article! It really helped me think through my perplexing Palin problems! She makes my skin crawl, especially when she opines on expanding the role of the VP and how the free press should be limited somehow in what they can say. She scares me, and she seems to possibly be a "button pusher", in order to usher in the glorious "end days," so she can become some sort of great martyr. I am not expressing this last thought perfectly, but then again, I am not running for VP, so give me a break!

  • Posted By: jwtrotman @ 10/06/2008 12:30:46 PM

Where does palin get off criticizing someone else's CHARACTER? Perhaps she had better start within her OWN household first before she ventures into the real world. PREGNANT under age daughter, an investigation into her actions as governor for misuse of office, misrepresentation of facts about a bridge and the GROSS inability to respond to fifth grade level questions? One wonders if she even knows who's buried in Grant's tomb!

Wall Street Journal OCTOBER 6, 2008 Biden's Fantasy World
Sarah Palin may not know as much about the world, but at least most of what she knows is true.

In the popular media wisdom, Sarah Palin is the neophyte who knows nothing about foreign policy while Joe Biden is the savvy diplomatic pro. Then what are we to make of Mr. Biden's fantastic debate voyage last week when he made factual claims that would have got Mrs. Palin mocked from New York to Los Angeles?

Start with Lebanon, where Mr. Biden asserted that "When we kicked -- along with France, we kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon, I said and Barack said, 'Move NATO forces in there..." The U.S. never kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon, and no one else has either.

Speaking of which, Mr. Biden also averred that "Our commanding general in Afghanistan said the surge principle in Iraq will not work in Afghanistan." In trying to correct him, Mrs. Palin mispronounced the general's name -- saying "General McClellan" instead of General David McKiernan. But Mr. Biden's claim was the bigger error, because General McKiernan said that while "Afghanistan is not Iraq," he also said a "sustained commitment" to counterinsurgency would be required. That is consistent with Mr. McCain's point that the "surge principles" of Iraq could work in Afghanistan.

Then there's the Senator's astonishing claim that Mr. Obama "did not say he'd sit down with Ahmadinejad" without preconditions. Yet Mr. Biden himself criticized Mr. Obama on this point in 2007 at the National Press Club: "Would I make a blanket commitment to meet unconditionally with the leaders of each of those countries within the first year I was elected President? Absolutely, positively no."

Or how about his rewriting of Bosnia history to assert that John McCain didn't support President Clinton in the 1990s. "My recommendations on Bosnia, I admit I was the first one to recommend it..." Mr. McCain supported Mr. Clinton on Bosnia, as did Bob Dole even as he was running against him for President in 1996.

Closer to home, the Delaware blarney stone also invited Americans to join him at "Katie's restaurant" in Wilmington to witness middle-class struggles. Just one problem: KATIE'S CLOSED IN THE 1980s. The mistake is more than a memory lapse because it exposes how PHONY is Mr. Biden's attempt to pose for this campaign as Lunchbucket Joe.

this woman is a joke and so is mccains campaign

  • Posted By: NewsWkDickG @ 10/06/2008 12:16:49 PM

Now you may like Sarah Palin's personality, find her good looking, a real ???cutesy??? and even agree with a few of her views but there can be no denying that she is extreme, bazaar and, most importantly, totally unqualified and just aggressively trying to disguise her inexperience and simply push a bold and belligerent presentation to manipulate public opinion. Her whole purpose is apparent as an ???attack dog??? as she boldly criticizes with exaggerated and mostly irrelevant accusations while totally avoiding the real issues. Being a ???hockey mom??? and a ???pit bull with lipstick??? may make her interesting but it sure doesn???t qualify her to be vice-president or, most totally not, to be president. That should then be completely scary, yet many still rationalize that she is acceptable. It isn???t as if she is applying to be a next-door neighbor and come over for a barbecue, she wants to help and maybe even individually run the country. The real truth should be apparent to anyone that is willing to check their emotional ties, prejudices and biases, including their political affiliations, that we simply can???t withstand any further focus on Special Interests and a select few, that we can???t survive continuing with the same philosophies, that whether poor or middle class or upper middle class we are currently loosing substantially, and we desperately need real change (not just someone who claims to be a ???Maverick??? but actually never did more than just adjust in his own best interests). If too many of us are sold on ignoring the facts, the truth, on accepting the subterfuge offered, we may just end up with more of the same, with literally continuing in the same direction we are currently going. This country can???t take that, this country desperately needs real, drastic and honest change! And really, common sense dictates that those who have taken us to where we are today should be prosecuted and not congratulated by electing others who supported them.

Corruption cannot be cleared out of government by a corrupt leader.

the obama campaign has taken money from dubious donors--fake donors. They took money from Palestinian brothers ($33,000) who ordered a bulk shipment of T-shirts from the campaign. The campaign claimed they thought the order was from Georgia, USA.... but they shipped the order to Gaza, Palestiine...

I don't think so.....but.......we are certainly more qualified than Sara Palin.....the Republican's cynicism towards the intelligence of Americans is appalling.
