    I'm not suprixed Obama has refused to share info about it's small donors. Wrongdoing might be revealed if if did so.

      They may have refused to comply with the PUBLIC EXPOSURE of their small donors, which would have been a privacy violation. This article fails to give ANY solid information on the requests made of the Obama campaign. And BTW, donors names have already been publicized on the internet, complete with MAPS to donors' houses. How do I know? I saw MY name & address, complete with map, exposed ON THE INTERNET as a listed donor for the Obama campaign.

      This is a GOP desperate attempt to smear Obama's name.

        Facts are stubborn things. The FEC is not a REPUBLICAN organization. And it is not a smear to point out the TRUTH. But you are right in the essence of your comment. Reading between the lines. You understand that if the TRUTH does come out about this and ALL THE OTHER ties to courruption that Sen. Obama is tied to..... no doubt.... the GOP will most likely win.

        Not to worry though.... the media will do al lthey can to keep that from happening.

    I think you need to do more research. In your article the Obama campaign says they returned all the dubious funding. The last I read was that the FEC said the campaign had returned some of the funding but not all, and that the amount they kept still exceeded the limit. Did you verify with the FEC that all the monies were returned?

    How can so many people blame Republicans for the problems on Wall Street? If you've been watching news like I have for over 45 years, then you'd know that nearly everything that's been done to loosen oversight and allow free reign to financiers has been done by Democrats. When the Democrats have control of the White House and both houses in Congress, it'll be the Carter administration all over again - HUGE interest rates, high unemployment, and long lines at gas stations.

      Your ego blocks your reasoning. Both parties continually hand off problems. Which wing of this bird has recently had total control for six years in a row? Look it up if you don't know. How long did McCain take (after running with Keating) bafore he said squat about this problem we face? McCain has had his hands in criminal banking while in office, in office-His buddy is IN JAIL now. Ayers is a professor in public.

        Ayers is an unconvicted, unrepentant police hating bomb making federal building bombing revolutionary who started the Weathermen and the Weather Underground and Obama is proud to be anywhere near this menace to society? Ayers was gotten off by his wealthy and power connected father and Richard Daley.
        He never stood before a judge and said 'Guilty" and paid any debt to society.

    George Soros has been mysteriously silent this election cycle. It would not surprise me in the least to find out that many of these "small donations" are being funneled from Mr. Left Wing himself, George Soros. when will the press start doing stories about the other very questionable aspects of Barack Obama's past? I'm sure we won't hear about them in the mainstream press until after election day.

      Daisy21 has it exactly right. Obama is a Soros puppet and the Democrat Party is the tool of this devil. The American electorate will rue the day that Obama becomes President. It will accelerate the decline of our Republic for which the flag has stood and signal the beginning of America's fall into Soros' objective of creating a global Open Society that will be pure Orwellian hell.

      BTW remember allof the foreign donations to BJ Clinton? Jose Cabrera was a druglord who gave $$ to BJ while in prison.

    In these trying times, it is hard to think anything will ever get better. We are all reexamining our recent past to see what, if anything, could have been done.

    I think as things get more difficult, one tends to turn to their core values to get back, or even stay on track.

    I have edged closer to my own core values. It helps to remind myself that everything works for the Greater Good. Not...everything good works for the Greater Good, But EVERYTHING.

    I know when I hold true to the values in my heart, I will make the right decision. Regardless, I think we should pray for our country, and we should pray for our leaders.

    One should never forget that our country is one of the best places to live, and we should show our pride by getting out to vote. There are millions who do not have that privilege, and subsequently don???t share that pride in their corner of the world.

    We can make a bigger difference. God bless America.

    I'm amazed at how so many people see Republicans as being the cause of problems on Wall Street! You must not have been watching the news like I have for 45 years or more. Nearly every law or event that eliminated restrictions on finance have come from Democrats. It shows how ignorant people are. I can't wait until we have a totally Democrat Congress and a Democrat president, with no Republican constraints - it'll be the Carter administration all over again, with the HUGE interest rates, unemployment, and gas lines all over again. Be careful what you wish for!

    I can't believe that Newsweek has tackled this issue. It has been in the tank for Obama most of this election cycle. I've always wondered how so many "small donors" could be giving money to Obama when he himself has been telling us that most Americans can't afford to put food on their tables and gas in their cars. It didn't make sense that these "poor" folks kept sending him money. Perhaps they haven't been after all.....

    It's about time someone does a story about this. I'm surprised Newsweek did it considering how in the tank they have been for obama for most of the election. How can so many "small donors" be giving so much to Obama? After all, he keeps telling us what a financial crisis we are in. He tells us day after day that most Americans can't afford to put food on the table and gas in their cars. If things are so bad, these folks I have no sympathy for folks who would rather send money to this millionaire rather than feed their families.

      Agreed - that is why all credit card payments should be made available - if privacy issues are a problem, let the D & R databases be turned over to the SEC or a neutral organization.
      By the way, it is very easy to check "nationality" of credit card numbers - then check the nationality of foreign contributions.

        As a member of an Alaskan genealogist group, we plan on donating the 5 million dollars Palin got for us through EARMARKS to study (sea lions DNA and the mating of crabs) to the obama campaign..next yr we will ask for 10 million for our preach but dont practice abstinence only sex education program.

      This may be true - All the more reason for Obama's campaign to make his database available. If there are privacy issues, give them to the SEC!
      For info, it is very easy to check credit car numbers - the nationality is in the code - then foreign donations can be checked for nationality of donor (if citizens they would have a social security number - RIGHT?
      I am convinced this is going on - Georges Cloney gave a 1000$ cocktail / 10'000$ dinner in Geneva Switzerland (among others) and made a FOORTUNE for Obama - Were all those present really all american citizens????

    There is way to much fraud growing in our electoral process. It is a cancer that can destroy democracy. Similar to the lack of oversight of Fannie and Freddy. Lots of people on all sides of the political spectrum are willing to cheat. We need to enforce honesty.
