The problem with John McCain's campaign is that he feels the things that worked years ago are good today but with the internet and Factcheck.org the American people know the truth of what is being said in a very short time so he is the one who looks foolish. I think both campaigns are wasting a lot of money on ads anyway. Nobody really pays that much attention to the mudslide anymore to decide how to vote anyway.

    Obama 08
I like what Chuzpah wrote, and agree. I am so tired of watching McCain's horrible commercials on tv. It is all the lies that he puts into them and his campaign that I find so insulting. Now he thinks Palin is qualified to be V.P.? What an iddiot. He is the one who dose not have a grasp on reality, nor dose Palin have a clue.

McCain/Palin (aka "experienced leaders") are good at attacking, but short on being able to take it. The media is mean to them. They have nothing else to do but lie, misquote and sling mud hoping someone will believe them and vote for them . We have such serious problems in this country but grandstanding and anger management takes up all of McCain's time. Palin the pitbull trots happily around the country with her bone of contentious lies. Never thought it was possible for two people to sink as low as they have and then they announce they are going to be even worse. How does that spin with the cutesy soccer Mom? She's just a ruthless, vindictive politician who now has $1 million worth of assets at the expense of the people of Alaska. First Wasilla had no debt but by the time she left the mayors office the debt was $22 million. All the earmarks she got kept the people happy while she charged them to live in her own homeas governor. She also paid no taxes on on the $17,000 she charged the state. How many soccer Moms do that? Dangerous is what this dynamic duo is. Angry old McCain could stroke out and this country would be left with a joke for a leader. Guess the good news is she would vote for the bars to stay open all night long like Alaska. Bad news is everyone gets to carry their guns into the bars. Palin would make Cheney look like boy scout.

Palin has admitted to smoking marijuana which made me wonder after she bombed her interview with Katie Couric so bad, had Palin JUST smoked some of that wacky weed? Can she wear any more eye makeup? Ironic how Palin doesn't want us to look back, apparently McBush and her are the only ones allowed to point fingers. Do as I say, not as I do. I would like to think the American people want more than a sometimes cutesy soccer-mom voice repeating neat phrases. She proved she is NOT Executive material, maybe in a few years if she works at it, but she is not ready now.

McCain = Keating = LYING McCain = Infidelity during his first marriage = ADULTERER Since finding out McCain once dated a stripper, it now sheds light on why old John disgustingly 'teased' that Cindy participate in the stripper contest at the biker rally this past summer in Sturgis, South Dakota. To even remotely put such a thought in people's heads of a potential first lady is careless and unbelievably disrespectful towards his wife. McCain really will say anything for a vote. McCain should not slam someone elses character when he has a very bad record himself.

Record Republican events and report to the Secret Service any person yelling "Kill Him." We must all protect candidates and leaders.

The link below contains a purported list of the top 25 in Congress who got contributions from the folks at Fannie and Freddie. Obama is listed third, after Dodd and Kerry, even though Obama is just a junior Senator. Obama is followed next by Clinton. Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi are on the list as well.

    http://www.investors.com/editorial/IBDArticles.asp?artsec=16&artnum=1&issue=20080918

Then there is the Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher J. Dodd who allegedly got special mortgage deals from Countrywide, who gave preferential rates to 'friends' of company's chairman.

For an interesting article purporting to detail the House Financial Services Committee Chairs long history with Fannie Mae, See http://www.businessandmedia.org/printer/2008/20080924145932.aspx

"House Financial Services Committee Chair promoted GSEs while former 'spouse' was Fannie Mae executive."

The link below describes how some in Congress tried to use the original version of the bailout bill to divert money eventually recovered to groups like ACORN. See:

And then there is House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who allegedly has directed nearly $100,000 from her political action committee to her husband's real estate and investment firm.

When I taught History, I used to show campaign stuff from the 1800's. John Adams was worse than any campaign today and actually jailed newspaper editors who disagreed with him, and accused Jefferson of being an agent of foreign influence, etc.
Partisanship over citizenship is what Washington warned us about. The GOP only has partisanship left. They called anyone with an idea RINO's and closed the thinking department years ago.
That's why their bench is so thin.

I used to think John McCain was a man of honor and integrity, but it is sad beyond belief to see how far he has fallen.

Accusing Obama of "palling around with terrorists" and all the other slanderous statements made in the last few days is nothing short of cowardice; a pathetic attempt to slander Obama's character instead of dealing head-on with the issues, issues which are too important to see sliding into a mudslinging match.

I never believed I would see the day when I called John McCain a coward, but that day has arrived.

    What a shame.

Your pathetic,Obama could not get a security clearance to dog fight, and your hoping he is elected so he can sell the USA down the toilet with all his hatetrid for the white race, it's difficult to believe he has gotten this far, but, with your help he does havea chance.

Would democrats call it a smear if they found that Palin had been consorting with terrorists like Ayers? I think not, they'd be shouting it to the rooftops. I will not vote against Obama because of his race, nor wil I vote against him because of his race. Black racism is just as evil as white racism, because two wrongs don't make a Wright!

    • Posted By: blkhoney88 @ 10/07/2008 1:54:33 PM

Wow, so cute! Did you come up with that all by your wittle self??? Smear is what it is and you and I both know it...it's also desperation, a lack of good advisors, no real plan and any number of other bizarre things going on in the McCain camp. It's sad, I expected more of him!

      • Posted By: Mike Brody @ 10/07/2008 1:58:12 PM

Thanks for calling that cute, but you did not face the fact of what I said about the democrat propaganda machine, and how they tried to get as much dirt on Paling as they could and how they would be attacking her if she had a friend like Bill Ayers. You cannot face the truth, you are biased.

It is SCARY that the comparisons in education are as follows and that some people SERIOUSLY think that McCain and, especially, Sarah Palin are more qualified than Obama and Biden. Some people didn't have enough with an idiot like Bush, now they want 2 idiots. Wow... really?

    Obama:
Columbia University - B.A. Political Science with a Specialization in International Relations.
Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna ***-Laude

    Biden:
University of Delaware - B.A. in history and B.A. in political science.
Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.)

    vs.

    McCain:
United States Naval Academy - Class rank 894 of 899

    Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester
North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study
University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism
    Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester
University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in journalism

Would you like to know how supportive Palin has been to the towards helping women and children who have been victims of domestice violence and rape? Read the followin:
According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Alaska???s rape rate is 2.5 times the national average.
Alaska also has the highest rate per capita of men murdering women. Ninety percent of Alaskans would vote to increase funding for victim service programs because according to the coalition, programs are in dire need of more funding in order to serve the sheer volume of victims. Seventy-five percent of Alaskans have been or know someone who has been the victim of sexual assault or domestic violence. Alaska???s domestic violence shelters, sexual assault services and programs for survivors have seen relatively small increase funding. In 2008, the state budget included an additional $300,000 in funding for victim service programs. According to Alaska???s Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, in 2009, Governor Palin???s budget includes an increase in funds to help shelters offset the higher costs of fuel, utilities and insurance. But the extraordinary levels of violence against in the state of Alaska and the underlying causes still require a much greater level of state-level funding oversight. According to the Alliance for Reproductive Justice, who lobbied to address these issues in 2007, the Governor did not respond. The Alliance has this to say on their website ???Governor Palin did not deliver and did not take a leadership role on any of these issues. In fact, this year, when there was a 7 billion dollar state surplus she did not step up to the plate for the women and children of Alaska???we were truly disappointed with her lack of action on this critical public health issue.??? Most of Alaska???s funding for sexual assault and violence against women programs comes from the federal government. . Peggy Brown, executive director of the Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault said ???She???s really done a lot of work on oil and gas, but when it comes to violence against women and children???we haven???t been on her radar as a priority.??? This is absolutely shocking. As mayor and governor why didn???t she try to influence laws to help protect these women and children? Why didn???t she increase her police force to try and protect these women and children? These issues were there before she became mayor and governor. However, as both a woman and mother one would think rape and domestic violence would be one of her major concerns. Alaska also has a high rate of incest. Many people don???t know that the day the news showed the welcome home Palin in Alaska that same day they had a Reject Palin Rally and over 1,000 people attended (mainly women). It was the largest attended rally the state of Alaska has ever had. This is fact not gossip

Notice how John R didn't respond to the article. I am so sick of republicans that are for McCain, no matter what. Maybe you don't like Obama, and that is fine, but let me give you a definition. The adjective Orwellian describes the situation, idea, or societal condition that George Orwell identified as being destructive to the welfare of a free-society. It connotes an attitude and a policy of control by propaganda, misinformation, denial of truth, and manipulation of the past. So, when McCain approves an ad that splices Obama's comments, puts them completely out of context in order to make it look like he was talking about the image they put on before, and people believe these blatant lies, it makes me wonder. Are we not already living in an Orwellian society? Where is the media when the people need them? It isn't about being non-partisan at this point. It is about INFORMING the public on the lies and deception of a politician that are so OBVIOUS. It makes me sick to think that this race is so close, and I blame every journalist that is not up in arms about a presidential candidate that decides to start using lies, smears, and fear tactics in such a scary fashion. Obviously, we do not have a liberal media, because if we did, McCain's career would have been over after the lipstick ad they spliced together. I am shocked that people aren't intelligent enough to see through this. Most of all, I am scared for what we are heading toward as our government gets stronger, and the media/people become even weaker and more dumbed down each election cycle. Let's abolish this two party system so we can free ourselves from this power stranglehold we are in. In the meantime, let's save ourselves from big brother and... VOTE FOR ANYONE BUT MCCAIN

    • Posted By: BurnabyJoe @ 10/07/2008 6:12:22 PM

Travis S, I also don't understand how the election is so close. How can any sane person want to vote McCain/Palin into office after all the BLATANT LIES coming from their camp, as well as the TERRIFYING COMPLETE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE PALIN demonstrates on a daily basis. Not to mention the 8 years of destruction and chaos the Republicans have caused). Must be that the majority of the US voters are eneducated fools and the educated minority will simply have to deal with the consequences of their actions. Solution: Have voters go through a simple test, not an IQ Test, but one that measures their knowledge on key issues, such as Health Care, Afghanistan, Iraq's involvement (or lack of) in 9/11, Economics, etc. This will ensure that the people who are casting their votes are actually educated on the issues and able to decide which party best represents their interests based on their platforms. Hopefully this will make candidates give a clearer picture of their platforms and ideas, rather than just saying stuff like "I'll fix health care, Wall Street's to blame, Raise/Lower Taxes", they'll actually have to convince the voter.

this is turning into a lynch mob, and it's happening all over the south! You can count on a bunch of southerners to act just like that. mccain and palin knew that! the people down there are seeing nothing but a black man and that's all they need, to either tar and feather him, or lynch him. I think it is so terrible what those two people have done to divide our country, and people want them running our country??? No thank you

  • Posted By: backwoods90 @ 10/07/2008 3:35:48 PM

Yep, peacemaker18 is absolutely right. Bush did this country more damage than any president since ... well, since most of you were voting! It is *absolutely* inexcuseable for us to have attacked Iraq. That idiocy has soiled our country both internally and externally. I'm even going to lay the current financial meltdown on Bush's doorstep also. Despite the subprime mortgage collapse, I blame Bush because of the unbelievable amount of money he has thrown away in his misguided war effort. As many a dictator before him, he essentially warred our country into bankruptcy. The decision re who replaces him may be the most important election in your lifetime. I'm also strongly pro-choice, am not a Republican and never have been, and I believe that evolution occurred just fine without divine guidance. So I'm not a knee-jerk when I say that our *only* chance of even starting to dig our way out of this mess is to elect McCain/Palin! That one took a lot of real thought and soul-searching since, as you can see, it does not intuitively follow from my background and beliefs! There isn't room here to explain this in full ... but I will try to make sense of it and make my thinking understandable on my blog. http://www.alaskanwoulds.blogspot.com/ . Please come join the discussion. But in none of the areas that we need (desperately) to fix, is Obama the answer. He would be an utter disaster for the economy. You think you saw the DOW drop yesterday? Wait until Obama wins in November! [I deleted the next section. Not enough room here to explain.] And, like Nixon going to China ... McCain is the only one who can end the Iraq war in a way that doesn't get us deeper into a disasterous mess. Again, no room to explain, but if Obama wins and we announce a pull-out timetable ... give her her due, Palin is right. That would be interpreted in the Mid-East as the white flag of surrender, tail between our legs whimpering out. It would energize Iran and give them confidence beyond measure that they can get away with anything. In fact, under Obama several more countries in the world would go nuclear. It would make us hated by our "friends" like the Saudis (and others most of whom are tyrants, but we have to stay in bed with them until we are no longer dependent on their oil - I have to go with pragmatism over idealism ... we simply have no rational choice). This is not an election that can be decided by your natural gut feeling. Hard as it is ... it is an election that requires serious thought and study of actions and consequences. I hate to say this, but McCain has to win in November or this nation will face a crisis of biblical proportions [and I'm not even a bible thumper! :-)] It may be the hardest thing you do ... but for the sake of the country, you have to hold your nose and pull the lever for McCain in November. Because it is the right thing to do (and deep inside, you know it).

I really, really understand the moniker "backwoods". Wasted space and no real opinion. One would think that with all the backwoods time, you could have an original thought. No you are not pro-choice or Democrat. You did not think your opinion through or "soul-search", because if you read this mess of a post, you'd see you have no opinion based on fact - you just blather. When you say you are a Dem, then say "Palin is right" you lost every single tiny bit of credibility you may have had with the typically ignorant. When you mention McCain and "pragmatism" you appear to be one of the lizard-brained unaware of the past three weeks. Stop lying.

In your post you stated we all have to go "pull the lever". Well,, I will be passing on pulling the lever as all the voting machines are worthless and votes wont even be counted, the machines hacked into so McEvil and Paleface with forked tongue will come out the winners. Wake up everyone!!!! Dont pull the lever.
