I told my family to be prepared for the worst several months ago because the Socialist Elite working for obama were going to pull all the stops out to scare the american public into voting for the chicago thug. Guess what?!? We are experiencing the worst financial crisis in decades....and the DEMOCRATS are in charge of the CONGRESS AND EVERY FINANCIAL COMMITTEE ON THE HILL!! Who would ever think that Pelosi and Frank would fight fair?? McCain is the only candidate qualified for the job. Do you really believe the "nightly news"???

If the "media" spent half as much time "factchecking" obama he wouldn't even be in the race. He is a socialist who thinks he knows best. he is anti american and anti intelligent!! I would rather have an"old" patriot in the white house than a young socialist thug.

McCain honest? I don't consider an admitted adulterer honest or honorable.

Hey, Newsweek if you want to attack misleaading statement, what about the ridiculous claim that Obama was only 8 when Ayers' orgainization was bombing and killing innocent people? The fact is that when he was older and supposedly wiser is when he associated with Ayers. Once again the democrats rely on the ignorance of their constituents with the "8 year old" gambit.

Let's talk about about how McCain was pallin around with Natzi collaborators in the 80's, or how he flew around the country in Keating's jets. Or how he talked with congressional regulators on Keating's behalf. If you want to shove someone's face in their past, then make sure yours is squeeky clean first.

Oh yeah, and let's not forget he left his handicapped first wife for his beer heiress sugar mama...

I guess I personally place Bill Ayers and his days of violence into the same category as the Columbine shooters. He is unstable and took his extreme hate for government to the point of using explosives. He is NOT a respectable citizen. He should be in prison where society can be protected from him and his dangerous personality.
He fits the personality patterns that teachers and empoyers are warned to watch for. He is a dangerous walking bomb and has the potential to harm many people. He needs to be removed from society and locked up.
You hear stories about criminals who hide in society for years and the neighbors are all shocked to find out that the person living next to them is a fugitive. Well, criminals can camoflage themselves as Ayers and his wife have done. Respectible???? No.

Palin stated this morning that they will have a spending freeze in Washington when they get in office. During that time, they will go over EVERY item on the budget to sort out all the pork. It is time that there is COMPLETE accountability on the part of government. The Democrat controlled Congress voted down oversight bills on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac twice. McCain introduced a bill to increase oversight on the two agencies...the bill was killed in the Democrat controlled committee.
Chris Dodd has guilty painted all over his face....he has violated the trust that Americans honored him with. He used his position on the financial committee to get himself a special mortgage rate from Countrywide. He was lax in warning citizens of the pending collapse of the credit market. He needs to be investigated.

McCain's actions have proven to me it is time to leave the Republican party. I have been voting and a republican for 28 years from the first time I could vote. I do not need to be there anymore when he and Palin are the best they can offer. There are so many serious issue before us now. Winking and smearing the other guy do not work to fix them, har work and straight talk will.

Obama is getting a bump out of this because people are not being reminded of the whole history where the economy is concerned, and who did what when. Call it bias by omission. The media simply says that the economy is Obamas strong issue, but never discusses the facts in detail. Further, who had a majority when is rarely relevant. If the simplistic Party In Power model were true, then the Democrats would not have needed the House Republicans when they tried to pass the bailout bill, as Democrats have the majority in both houses and there is no threat of a veto. In theory, they do not need the Republicans to vote at all. In fact, something like twelve (12) Democrats from Barney Franks own banking committee voted against the bill. Obviously, it is not so simple and the media does the voter a disservice by doing little more than reinforcing the error. A similar argument would be to say that the economy appeared to be doing fine until the Democrats took over control of Congress and the power of the purse, then it tanked. As an aside, the media also misleads regarding the Clinton economy when they fail to mention that it also ended in a recession, requiring the first round of Bush stimulus checks immediately after he took office..


Do Obama and the Democrats deserve a lift in the polls as a result of the financial and mortgage problems? The answer from history is a clear NO. Here's the lead of a New York Times story on September 30, 1999:

McCain said in co-sponsoring the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190:

"If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system and the economy as a whole. The Democrats killed the Bill.

What was Barney Frank and fellow Democrats saying at the time of these attempted reforms? According to reports, Representative Barney Frank(D-MA) claimed of the thrifts :

"These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis, the more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing."

Representative Mel Watt (D-NC) added of the reforms "I don't see much other than a shell game going on here, moving something from one agency to another and in the process weakening the bargaining power of poorer families and their ability to get affordable housing." Obama wold not have even been approved to be a police officer or federal officer with these known associates. Why would anyone even consider voting for him? Obama endorsed Bill Ayers' 1997 book.
Enough with the "i was eight years old at the time of the bombings" nonsense. After 9/11 Bill Ayers again made comments suggesting that he agreed with the attacks in us. The associations (AYers, Rezco, Wright
and ACORN) are just too much to swallow.

McCain and Palin attacks on Obama are having a terrible affect on America. They are bringing the worse out of themselves and others by stirring up hate and racism. When you have a sheriff that intentionally uses Obama???s middle name to incite racism they are on the wrong track. When you have people due to your campaigning that are screaming terrorist and kill him in the background you have to take credit for creating an environment that brings out the racist in our country and gets them riled up. If you want to talk about terrorism this is the best way to get it started. McCain and Palin are not only tearing down Obama they are also tearing down our country in the process.

It is very sad that McCain has sunk to this level and surprising, considering how W trashed him in the primaries not that long ago. He has clearly taken the, if you can't beat them join them route. If Obama doesn't allow himself to be drawn in he will win, because this time the general population is paying attention and the issues are the key (see the Clinton effort against Bush the elder) not the swiftboat, Karl Rove, nastiness.

The real shame is McCain stands to lose not only the election, but his legacy as an honest and decent politician. This is especially true given his pledge to not allow this type of garbage into his run.
