AJC Strongly Condemns Rev. Jesse Jackson's Comment on American Jews
October 14, 2008 - New York - The American Jewish Committee (AJC) has condemned the Rev. Jesse Jackson's statement about 'Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades.'
"Rev. Jackson's remarks, which appeared in an interview with the journalist Amir Taheri in today's New York Post, echo classic anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about Jewish power," said AJC Executive Director David A. Harris. 'This statement, regrettably, is not the first troubling comment by Rev. Jackson regarding Israel, Zionism and the Jewish people.'

Arguing as a private citizen that an Obama administration could bring significant change to U.S. foreign policy, Jackson was quoted as saying that "Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades" would lose much of their influence should Senator Obama be elected president."

And people are upset about raciest comments some in the crowd are allegedly saying at Palin events? Isn't this the same Democrat leader who once called New York "Hymietown"?

    Comment: In response to rev20v57-10.
Does it really matter whether a man wears a flag on his lapel when there are so many life-ruining issues that have been established by the present administration. Do you have any evidence what so ever to back up your claim that all Obama's high profile persons are all deceivers???
Sounds a lot like the typical fear tactics used by all republicans to scare everyone into voting them in and sacrificing our freedom.....

Comment: Obama is not the person that he claims to be. How can we vote for someone who refuses to use the American Flag as his symbol and creates his own. When Obama says the word "change" it is not the type of change that we as Americans are going to be looking for. This person has his own agenda, I ask that everyone look at the so called high profile people who follow him, they are all deceivers. Please ask yourself what type of change you are looking for because the type of "change" that Obama wants is not what this country or world needs.

Comment: Nader's fiscal policies are radically different from the two --possibly both in a minority percentage wise, if the proper comparisons of what to expect if elected is the reason for each vote as their honest evaluation of who is best and can do what is best for the country.....does this audience understand what would happen to the budget and the stock market if the companies are self-reliant and have to do their business properly and compete on the proper grounds of the invisible hand of competition and the supply and demand, so that we have companies in the black who are serving our interests and proving it on the stock market, while the government stays out and does not support them, but delivers the proper benefits of hard earned taxes paid for government services, which would not be an unwanted war by a beguiling president who shreds the U.S. Constitution and all proper view of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Nader's track is both sane and safety, it is an offer that I am voting for and urging the educated comparisons of the public in spite of the media's apparent love of corporate greed and profit over the public interest. I do not want Bush or his military. I certainly do not want Obama or McCain, and what I want supposedly is wanted by the majority. It is time they realize they are not stuck in two evil boxes. They have the numbers on their side to vote freely for the best. The best should win in November. End the war with your vote and put priorities in place,, and gain the friendship of the international self-respecting sovereign nations who are not interested in junking up the sky or fighting with insane out of line technology against all sanity. Sane votes by a majority are urgently needed for sane government. November is the day to prove people rule at the ballot and it can be done as a people's landslide for proper budget priorities against the media blackout, and bailouts using red ink that are a credit to no one.

Comment: How interesting it wouold be to get a straight answer to these questions

Obama, what kind of advice can you receive from two advisors that ran down the two biggest home mortgage
lenders plus they took over $130 million in compensation poor leadership.
Obama, what kind of change can a 6 term senator bring to the table. The daying "you can't make old dogs
    learn new tricks"
Obama Tell me about ACORN and please don't say you know nothing for you were their lead legal councel.
My real question will be now how many real votes does Obama get ? when we know on the last
count reported over 50% of them were dead, not legal and what ever but certainly not legal ??

Comment: A PLEA FROM THE REGULAR CITIZEN: could someone with enough clout to actually speak with our presidential and vice-presidential candidates please explain this; the 95% of middle and lower class voters in the United States are not interested in nit-picking, "gloves off", cat fights between the perspective leaders of our faultering country. We may not contribute millions to the campaigns but we all have a vote, and I'm pretty sure we still assume each vote will count.
Here's a novel idea; lets run the debates like the Miss America pageants (with the exception of the swimsuit portion, yikes!). How about when each candidate answers questions, the other is in a sound proof booth. Wouldn't it be interesting to actually hear what the candidates think instead of playing off of each other? How about each time there is name calling towards the other candidate $1000 goes in the jar - it can go towards this multi-billion dollar bailout. It may sound simple and childish but if the candidates are going to act like children, let's start treating them like it.

Comment: For those who think the Democrats represent Massachusetts, let me give you the voter registration statistics, they are not the tune of 1,000 used in the mainstream media polls, they are measured in millions, the state of Massachusetts has just over 4 million voters and over 2 million, exactly 50% are registered independents, 1% are in the minor parties, and the two parties are 36.8% Democrat (not the majority) and 12.12% Republicans. THERE IS HOPE FOR CHANGE FOR MASSACHUSETTS TO VOTE INDEPENDENCE!

Comment: Democrats in Cambridge screamed "the time for change is not now" and wanted their control of the supposed opposition to Bush's agenda. Who knew how bad Bush's agenda was? I have said his impeachablity is not hard to prove, it is easy, he himself already did it. He walked OUT OF OFFICE as soon as he entered. All that is necessary to fix the U.S. Constitution and restore proper view of the President and the role of Commander in Chief, is to restore Congress as properly representing this country by unanimously signing a letter that declares they unanimously support the U.S. Constitution and want its legal framework of a democracy that supports the people and policies for public interest on track, by demanding/asking him to voluntarily resign, since he has refused...the wording (yes, I sent them a suggested wording, and believed THEY owe us the signing as unanimous support of our proper government strength, shown by congress knowing its duty is when and if to declare war, not the president, and the two year limit of funding an army raised--both of these he has violated, as well as other civil liberties protected by a proper upholding of the U.S. Constitution...the original declaration of independence against King George is very close to the amazing letter I suggested as a springboard to the proper view of Congress showing its strength...he walked out of office, it is in plain view. Our country is not supposed to have unprovoked wars, there is no authority and no funding can possi bly support it, nor can it possibly offer any proper public interest when the entire world is agreed we must offer respect for sovereignty and do as Ahmadinejad told in a translated speech to the U.N. "stay within your boundaries and walk in the path of God"-all peoples must respect each other. War is killing and no religion supports it, neither does our Constitution. Bush is not a President under our Consitution and he is not walking in the path of God.

Comment: I am new to this online Newsweek center for internet comments. Is it possible for these editors listed on this masthead to ask the proper question belonging to this column, that, I believe was NOT asked in the two party debates, ASK THE SIX ALL OF WHO ARE ON THE BALLOT FOR PRESIDENT 2008 NOVEMBER VOTE SEEKING A MAJORITY RULE RESULT...Baldwin, Barr, McCain, McKinney, Nader, Obama...ASK each one this question, and publish the SIX ANSWERS so the audience can see the comparisons.

It may clarify the huge differences between the candidates.

IF ELECTED BY A MAJORITY, WHAT TOP THREE PLATFORM OFFERINGS WOULD YOU BEGIN YOUR TERM WITH IN JANUARY?

Comment: Palin the POST TURTLE___While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75-year old Texas rancher whose
hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a
conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to
Sarah Palin and her bid to be a heartbeat away from being President.

The old rancher said, 'Well, ya know, Palin is a post turtle.'

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a post turtle was.
The old rancher said, 'When you're driving down a country road and you
come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a post
turtle.'The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor's face, so he
continued to explain. 'You know she didn't get up there by herself,
she doesn't belong up there, she doesn't know what to do while she is
up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb [bleep] put her up there
    in the first place.

Comment: The Obama camp has no ideal how to answer the question raised of Obama involvement with Ayers, or his deeply connections with ACRON, paying the group nearly 1 million dollars. Obama is running a very very dirty election and again the media is not saying anything, and it funny because the democrats is suppose to be the honest hard working party. I feel sorry for McCain because he is being punish for being a republican and that is flat out wrong. But no one has answered my question why is Obama 2yrs in office more important or more valuable then McCain's 26 yrs plus service time....Until someone answers that question I could never in a million yrs respect a guy with a pass like Obama...president or not is just not equal to respect

    • Posted By: bluepeas @ 10/09/2008 11:14:09 PM

Comment: McCain being punished b/c he's a republican? OMG, Are you for real "tippology"? The condition this nation is in has so many financially strapped & the way others percieve us, all the hate, is very dangerous for our next generation. Presently, I think many logical American's are considering who is best to repair America to it's greatness & best for us, first & foremost. I can't believe we even have weak-minded American's blind to McCain's manipulative choice in an extremely inexperienced

attractive unknown to help run this country while so many American's are financially suffering. All he's interested in is POWER &

will do anything to manipulate us & obtain it, even if it means BETRAYING his country and ppl....again. People that care about

ppl that dont care about them are needy ppl & the element of some ppl the Palin/ McCain ticket attracts is a perfect example,

      weak-minded, illogical or racist.

Obama's Campaign Paid Over $800,000 To ACORN For Get-Out-The-Vote Efforts, But "Mistakenly Misrepresented" Their Work To The FEC:

Obama's Campaign "Paid More Than $800,000" To ACORN For Get-Out-The Vote Efforts; The Campaign Originally "Misrepresented" The Group's Work To The FEC. "U.S. Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign paid more than $800,000 to an offshoot of the liberal Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now for services the Democrat's campaign says it mistakenly misrepresented in federal reports. An Obama spokesman said Federal Election Commission reports would be amended to show Citizens Services Inc. -- a subsidiary of ACORN -- worked in 'get-out-the-vote' projects, instead of activities such as polling, advance work and staging major events as stated in FEC finance reports filed during the primary." Comment: In a few weeks we will make a choice that will decide our future.
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
Also, he perfectly predicted the current real estate market meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen in the next couple years
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide ,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch , Fanny and Freddy Mae ,AIG
The government took them over because they are essentially bankrupt. Even with the goverment nationalizing hundreds of billions of dollars in debt the stock market is crashing
the credit markets are frozen and all of us may suffer beyond anything in the last 80 years.
McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand exactly what is broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use complex mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.
Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He didnt realize that anything was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime. Check out this link to the truth http://my.barackobama.com/keatingvideo
It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a surplus like Bush did but a crashing economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit. Most of it Bush created and it will take decades to pay it back.
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why are the polls even close then ?
Mccains team just said they no longer want to talk about the economy.Instead they would like to spend time talking about obama
which means running the biggest smear campaign in history.
They think they can just tell you lies and you wont be smart enough to see through it

Comment: Last night M. Obama was on the Larry King show; & he asked her has she thought about the position of first Lady & the "Bradly affect".. M.Obama gave some good answers.. While Cindy is talking about "she wish someone could walk in her shoes"....... is she for-real? & she is saying that her son was over in Iraq when he wasent...... if life in Cindy's shoes are so bad she needs to change her shoes.........

Earlier i heard that the show called "Morning Joe" said that Obama is only winning by default... i guess that default would be the economic crisis.. forget the fact this this guy has been working hard for years now & beat the Clinton Machine & is now leading over the "Maverick"...

McCain is soooooooooooo FAKE !!!! How in the world can McCain call himself a Mavrick & a Reformer X-P.O.W. & he doesnt even have a solid support of the Military folks? that doesnt even make sense.. what a phony ! if his own Military folks arent backing him at high Numbers then he doesnt even get their sympathy/empathy vote..... WOW !! That's deeper then Obama's middle name... that also shows that the Military folks ( majority) would rather trust someone who hasent been to the Military over a P.O.W. i guess not showing up to vote several times & voting out of the 9 times agianst the Military interest he lost their support... & Cindy goes on the stump to say "it sent a chill down her spin, when Obama didnt want to fund her son", who by the way wasent over their during that vote & during the time her hubby voted the way Obama did....

i guess when your trailing in the polls all you got to deal is LIES, & MORE EXAGGERATIONS !! Cindy & McCain /Palin are a book of feebles ...

Comment: The economic experts, pundits and other gurus, along with the hierarchy that is wrapping itself in the flawed economical system, better start taking a real objective look that the system is flawed and to use a flawed scheme to prop it up again is an exercise in futility. This private deregulated system, the investment banks that do not even carry any insurance and operate in secrecy are a quagmire. Simple facts are if the system was viable it would not need new theories, formulas, options, rate adjustm, ents,, control of money supply, other interventions every third day to plug the holes.

Comment: Ayers explains that existing American education is nothing but capitalist hegemony and that the mission of progressive educators (like himself) is to worm their way into the system, to take back the classrooms and turn them into laboratories of revolutionary change. In fact maybe he should even bring his tenured colleague from the University of Illinois, Professor Eric Gutstein, who has written about how he uses his seventh grade mathematics classroom in a Chicago public school to teach children that the U.S. had no reason at all to invade Afghanistan

  • Posted By: izme @ 10/09/2008 11:15:07 AM

    Comment: NOW HEAR THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Ayers was asked not to attend a progressive educators' conference in the fall of 2006 on the basis that the organizers did not want to risk an association with his past.

It???s the School of Education at the University of Colorado. Considering how Colorado taxpayers were outraged when they learned that they were paying the salary of fake Native American Professor Churchill, you can see why the Colorado education school professors were less than heroic about inviting Bill Ayers to their conference. After all, Ward Churchill only praised America???s present day enemies and denigrated the victims of 9/11, all in words. As a factual matter, Bill Ayers committed treason by opening up a second front -- with real bombs ??? in support of America???s enemies in the 1960s.

Comment: After four years in New York City, Obama moved to Chicago to work as a community organizer for three years from June 1985 to May 1988 as director of the Developing Communities Project (DCP), a church-based community organization originally comprising eight Catholic parishes in Greater Roseland (Roseland, West Pullman, and Riverdale) on Chicago's far South Side. During his three years as the DCP's director, its staff grew from one to thirteen and its annual budget grew from $70,000 to $400,000, with accomplishments including helping set up a job training program, a college preparatory tutoring program, and a tenants' rights organization in Altgeld Gardens.[

Obama served from 1993 to 2002 on the board of directors of the Woods Fund of Chicago, which in 1985 had been the first foundation to fund Obama's DCP, and also from 1994 to 2002 on the board of directors of The Joyce Foundation. Obama served on the board of directors of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge from 1995???2002, as founding president and chairman of the board of directors from 1995???1999
Ayers worked with Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley in shaping the city's school reform program, and was one of three co-authors of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge grant proposal that in 1995 won $49.2 million over five years for public school reform. In 1997 Chicago awarded him its Citizen of the Year award for his work on the project. Since 1999 he has served on the board of directors of the Woods Fund of Chicago, an anti-poverty, philanthropic foundation established as the Woods Charitable Fund in 1941.According to Ayers, his radical past occasionally affects him, as when, by his account, he was asked not to attend a progressive educators' conference in the fall of 2006 on the basis that the organizers did not want to risk an association with his past.
Obama was named to the Chicago Annenberg Challenge Project Board of Directors to oversee the distribution of grants in Chicago. Later in 1995, Ayers hosted "a coffee" for "Mr. Obama's first run for office." The two served on the board of a community anti-poverty group, the Woods Fund of Chicago, between 2000 and 2002, during which time the board met twelve times

Obama directed Illinois' Project Vote from April to October 1992, a voter registration drive with a staff of ten and seven hundred volunteers; it achieved its goal of registering 150,000 of 400,000 unregistered African-Americans in the state.

Comment: In a few weeks we will make a choice that will decide our future.

Comment: Factcheck.org states that Obama's statement about cutting taxes for 95% of Americans is false. It states that 20% will receive a tax increase.
So my calculations are: 40% out of the remaining 80% don't make enough to pay taxes. So only 40% of Americans will not receive tax increases. BUT Obama wants to repeal the current Bush tax cuts. SO THAT MEANS AN AUTOMATIC TAX INCREASE FOR ALL. Lots of double talk going on here. BEWARE OF THIS GUY ...he is a fast talking politician. No change there. He is worse than we have ever seen.
McCain does not plan to change any taxes He wants to leave things as they are.

Comment: I am surprised that senator john Mcain and the American people have allowed this ridiculous soap opera to go on for far too long. in my opinion the race would have been a no-contest a long time ago if the mcain people had not listened to the media and their ???experts???, and had focussed on the most important issue a lot of people have overlooked.. if the mcain people had focussed on character vis a viz Senator Obama, I bet he would have been exposed a long time ago for the fraud that he is.
Character goes to the heart of everything, be it the dire economic situation, terrorism, patriotism et al..The problem on wall street is as a result of the deficiency in character of the major players in wall street and Washington..Obama in my opinion is a sitting duck when it comes to issues on character. he has a busload of indiscretions that are already in the public domain. They can be used to good effect to put the benefit of doubt in the mind of the voters. i am not referring to incoherent personal attacks but a more articulate and sustained discourse on his bad judgement in the past that could cost the American people dearly if elected president.

One such indiscretion is his association with that radical pastor of his. This is a relationship that dates back many years. For his pastor to have uttered such nonsense after the attacks of September 11 it must follow that he harbours such resentment towards America. that statement must not be treated in isolation as a moment of passion or madness by the pastor, because it goes into the core of his mindset and belief. By my understanding, that statement is not a recent one. It was made a long time ago even before obama thought of running for president. This goes to the heart of Obama???s judgement, because I am at a loss as to why he did not denounce the pastor then ( if he did not share such a belief ) when it was not politically expedient to do so?? why denounce the pastor now when it is politically expedient to do so?? Obama cannot tell me that he was not 1) aware of the pastor???s comments 2) aware of the pastor???s beliefs 3) aware of the pastor???s political leanings?? This is a Pastor he respects and a church he regularly attended.
The logical thing he should have done was to severe ties with the pastor if he didn???t share the pastor???s toxic views long before it was politically expedient to do so. How many people is Obama going to severe ties with because they hurt his inordinate ambition to become the first black president, how many? There is an old adage that says, show me who your friends and acquaintances are and I will show you who you truly are! Americans, don???t be fooled by Obama, the media and his campaign people, that his actions are just mere indiscretions. THEY ARE NOT! They go to the heart of who he truly his. He is an opportunist, a calculating and dangerous person, who will deny past associations that hurt his inordinate ambition to make history

If the liberals win, then our foundation will no longer be based on traditional morality. It will gradually but assuredly be based on an ever shifting, ever moving foundation. If the liberals win, the damage can???t be stopped with elections two, four or forty years from now. America will forever be changed. We will keep seeing a gradual and growing hostility toward people of faith,. The morals of our nation will continue to decline. Our children and grandchildren will pay the price.

    Comment: Former Kissinger Assistant:

"Obama Knows More [About Foreign Policy] Than Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton When They Were Elected"

The Philadelphian is a high-rise condominium overlooking the classical columns of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, with picturesque views of the Schuylkill River and the verdant Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Many of the Philadelphian's residents are retired and a considerable number of them are Jewish. On October 4, Tony Lake, foreign policy adviser to Barack Obama and National Security Adviser in the Clinton Administration, addressed a gathering of 200 Jewish voters at the condominium. Ted Mann, a nationally revered leader in the Jewish community, introduced Lake. Mann's distinctions include serving as co-chair of the Conference of Presidents of Jewish Organizations, President of the American Jewish Congress, and Chair of the National Conference of Soviet Jewry, among other leadership roles. Mann has endorsed Obama and spoke directly to the rumors and smears about the Democratic Presidential nominee being targeted to Jewish voters.

"There have never been as many falsehoods about a candidate's religion being perpetuated by the Republicans as there have been this year," Mann said, explaining that, because of the mendacious rumors, he felt the need to name Obama advisers who are Jewish including such well known figures as David Axelrod, Robert Rubin and the guest speaker, Tony Lake.

Before he began his presentation, Lake asked for a show of hands to determine how many undecided voters were in the audience. To his pleasant surprise, there was only one undecided; everyone else in the audience was an Obama supporter. Lake has been working for Obama since 2002 and he explained that, although he has been a "foreign policy nerd" for decades, this is the first time he has actively campaigned for a candidate. "This campaign" he said, "has excited me like no campaign since 1960 and I'm enthusiastically working for Barack." Early in his career, Lake was an assistant to Henry Kissinger in the Nixon administration, but left after disagreeing with Nixon's Cambodia policy. Since then he has had a first-row seat in evaluating the foreign policy approaches of several administrations. Describing himself as non-partisan, Lake said he has voted for both Democratic and Republican candidates and believes Obama has the qualities necessary to be a great leader on foreign policy and a friend to Israel.

"As a Jew," Lake said, "I'm certain that Obama is good for our community," and he outlined the qualities required of a great leader, qualities he believe Obama possesses: authenticity, change (he believes Obama embodies change), experience, and vision (not of where America is in the world, but a vision of America itself).

    Petraeus Talk

By Spencer Ackerman 10/8/08 4:16 PM

    Gen. David Petraeus (WDCpix)

Throughout Sen. John McCain???s presidential campaign, the Republican nominee has wrapped himself in the mantle of U.S. Army Gen. David H. Petraeus, proclaiming himself the leading advocate of the former commanding general in Iraq who devised last year???s controversial troop surge. Yet during a talk Wednesday about Iraq at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative Washington policy organization, Petraeus repeatedly made statements that bolstered the foreign-policy proposals of Sen. Barack Obama, McCain???s Democratic rival, or cut against McCain???s own lines.

Petraeus relinquished command in Iraq last month. He assumes responsibility for U.S. Central Command later this month, putting him in charge of U.S. forces in the Middle East and South Asia.

As a serving military officer, Petraeus attempted to avoid any explicit political discussion. ???I???m not walking into minefields now,??? Petraeus said, to laughter, when asked a question that referred to Tuesday night???s presidential debate. In fact, the general averred that he didn???t watch the debate.

Yet Petraeus, whether intentionally or not, often waded into areas of dispute between Obama and McCain involving Afghanistan, negotiating with adversaries and other recent campaign controversies. Each time, the general either lent tacit support to Obama or denied tacit support to McCain.

Unbidden, Petraeus discussed whether his strategy in Iraq ??? protecting the population while cleaving apart the insurgency through reconciliation efforts to crush the remaining hard-core enemies ??? could also work in Afghanistan. The question has particular salience as Petraeus takes over U.S. Central Command, which will put him at the helm of all U.S. troops in the Middle East and South Asia, thereby giving him a large role in the Afghanistan war.

???Some of the concepts used in Iraq are transplantable [to Afghanistan] while others perhaps are not,??? he said. ???Every situation is unique.
    ???

Petraeus pointed to efforts by Hamid Karzai???s government to negotiate a deal with the Taliban that would potentially bring some Taliban members back to power, saying that if they are ???willing to reconcile,??? it would be ???a positive step.
    ???

In saying that, Petraeus implicitly allied with U.S. Army Gen. David McKiernan, the U.S. commander in Afghanistan. Last week, McKiernan rejected the idea of replicating the blend of counterinsurgency strategy employed in Iraq.

Comment: If this election cycle has demonstrated anything, it is that in order to preserve democracy in this country, it is passed time we reconsidered the additional protections provided the media by the Supreme Court in New York Times v. Sullivan, 376 U.S. 254 (1964), which protects the media from most slander and libel suits. While perhaps noble at the time in its conception, the media has abundantly demonstrated that for the advancement of their own political agenda, on both sides, and to fill the demands of the 24/7 news cycle, they are willing to abandon any pretense of objectivity or, more importantly, of journalistic ethics. Since they cannot exercise the power they have been given responsibly on their own, perhaps it is necessary to return the threat of legal sanction under which they operated prior to 1964.

Comment: Obama Opposes McCain Home Plan AND HERES WHY....

    By POLITICO STAFF |

After Tuesday???s debate, the Obama campaign e-mailed a statement accusing Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) of STEALING THE IDEA for his Homeowner Bailout from Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.).

NOTE: The statement, ???John McCain Lies Tonight,??? began: ???McCain today said he had a new plan to allow the Treasury to purchase and restructure mortgages. The truth is that this is not a New Proposal and is already part of the Rescue Plan that was signed into law.

[It was Obama, not McCain who called for this Move Two Weeks Ago]

On Wednesday afternoon, the Obama campaign's economic policy director, Jason Furman, issued a statement opposing the plan.

NOTE: The Obama campaign says the reason for the opposition is that when the McCain campaign revealed details of the plan Wednesday, it became clear that Taxpayers would be Guaranteed to Lose Money, and Financial Institutions who Helped caused the problem would be BENEFICIARIES.

Politico's Ben Smith reported from a conference call with McCain senior adviser Doug Holtz-Eakin: "Taxpayers would Directly Pick up the Tab for the Difference in COST between a Homeowner???s Old, Too-Expensive Mortgage and the Cheaper one provided by the Government."

The plan would be a better deal for taxpayers if the bad mortgages were bought at a discount.

Here is Furman's statement: ???Senator McCain???s first response to this economic crisis was to say that the fundamentals of our economy are strong. Since then, he???s acknowledged that there is a crisis and offered multiple plans, sometimes conflicting. Last night, in his latest attempt to get it right, he threw out a proposal that appeared to give the Treasury authority it already has to restructure troubled mortgages. But now that he???s finally released the details of his plan, it turns out it???s even more costly and out of touch than we ever imagined. John McCain wants the government to massively overpay for mortgages in a plan that would guarantee taxpayers lose money, and put them at risk of losing even more if home values don???t recover. The biggest beneficiaries of this plan will be the same financial institutions that got us into this mess, some of whom even committed fraud.

???Since this beginning of this crisis, Barack Obama has demanded that any rescue plan must protect taxpayers and ensure that they share in any profit once the economy recovers, and he worked to include that principle in the plan that passed Congress. John McCain???s plan to overpay for bad mortgages by handing taxpayer dollars over to big financial institutions is erratic policymaking at its worst, and it???s not the change we need to strengthen our economy, create new jobs and keep Americans in their homes.???

    • Posted By: AhfganSolja @ 10/08/2008 11:00:29 PM

Comment: yeah did you know the plan was going to raise 300 million dollars in taxes to whom the middle class who don't own homes, plus its not considered stealing if the same plan is already in effect.

Comment: Health insurance for everyone will be almost useless if the patients individual physician cannot write for the medications they know are best for that individual patient. Nobody is addressing the low "quality" of care and the conveyor belt medical-coorporate mentality. Physicians do not turn out "piece" items,or atleast they shouldnot. Also what about an updated constitutional convention. We do not live in 1776! Legal reform is just as vital as health reform. The legal system also is broken and we need to return the law such that the "commom" man[and woman] can obtain justice without going bankrupt. The laws are so complicated, maybe we need professional jurors with specializations just as in medicine. How many jobs would that create!
Also we might have a shot at becomming a nation of justice not just laws.

Comment: Yes, I would rather see John McCain be president, and I see absolutely nothing wrong with him calling that liar "that one". There is nothing racist at all in his remark. Just like Geraldine Ferraro said in the primary... Barack Obama would not have been considered at all in the primary race with his thin resume if he had been a white man. Hussein Obama has gotten away with far too much by playing the race card. In the words of Dennis Miller, "it is not the color of his skin that bothers me, it is the thinness of his skin that bothers me" he is such a whiner when everything doesn't go his way and so are many of his supporters whiners and always ready to use the race card when someone points out that Barack is a liar with a record different from his talk. Obama is trying to lie and talk his way into the White House and many of us who are democrats are not buying it, and we are voting for McCain/Palin. This guy, Obama, plays underhanded and dirty politics and if you can't see it, you should take off your rose colored glasses. NOBAMA!!! NOBAMA!!! NOBAMA!!!

Comment: This will never be the "United States of America" because we will always be divided by those who love to keep this crap going. Blacks can serve in the military, pay their taxes, own and operate their own businesses but they can never be viewed as contributors. I do not look at all whites as trailer-trash, or hill-billies or red-necks but all blacks are lumped together as ghetto, street ***. You're not Americans, you're the communist!

  • Posted By: KnightHawk @ 10/08/2008 5:44:44 PM

Comment: You all need to listen to your pathetic selves. You have no problem with the Wall St. $5000 suits who drove us to this nation's need for a $700 billion dollar bailout, but you take issue with the Main St. public who work for a living and try to improve their lives. Every failure this country has ever suffered has been because black people live here. You're so full of crap you're about to pop! Poor leadership from Bush is what brought us here!

    • Posted By: scubbieduu @ 10/08/2008 8:32:41 PM

Comment: blaming Bush? Presidents can do very little except ask for. Congress and the Senate has the power...and Demcrats have been in the majority since 2006...about the time everything starting going to pot...Blacks are just people and American's do not care what color you are...just what sort of charactor you have.

  • Posted By: KnightHawk @ 10/08/2008 5:37:08 PM

Comment: So let me get this straight; this nation's current financial woes are based on your facts that because the lending market decided to try to undo their discriminatory practices of not allowing black-Americans to qualify for housing, has caused the complete break-down of Wall St? Not the greed on Wall St. which has caused them to already spend $440,000 on a junket for the fat-cats! No...its all because black people are too poor!!!

(Obama in the early 1990???s helped train ACORN organizers and later served as counsel in 1995 for ACORN in a ???motor voter??? registration lawsuit.) And ACORN certainly appreciated whatever assistance Obama afforded the radical organization over the years.

Comment: Countrywide Mortgage, which is now ???hurtling toward bankruptcy??? and its role in granting mortgages now in default on an amazing scale. The Obama campaign had to distance itself from its one-time VP vetter Jim Johnson whom received questionable loans from Countrywide. Intrestingly, the Obama campaign had been critcal of Hillary Clinton for its relationship with Countrywide.

Comment: In the 1980s, groups such as the activists at ACORN began pushing charges of ???redlining??? - claims that banks discriminated against minorities in mortgage lending. In 1989, sympathetic members of Congress got the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act amended to force banks to collect racial data on mortgage applicants; this allowed various studies to be ginned up that seemed to validate the original accusation.

In fact, minority mortgage applications were rejected more frequently than other applications - but the overwhelming reason wasn???t racial discrimination, but simply that minorities tend to have weaker finances.
