I think that it is amazing that the newspapers and news reporters are all for Obama. Did anyone "actually watch" the debates? McCain made a total idiot out of Obama. McCain stepped up and answered all the questions, Obama talked "around" all of them. I am completely sickened by house this election has been won. It is clearly McCain who has the experience and I have gotten so sick of hearing that Obama wins everything. What happened to the US? This whole thing is ridiculous and it's embarrasing for the news to be one sided. It's disgusting to say the least. Step up americans, make the choice that makes sense. Obama has no experience and his wife is a "proven" racist. Why do we want this in the whitehouse? Wasn't Bill Clinton and his "sex antics" enough???

All this handwringing about the economy wont matter when Obama wins. We will become a Third world nation with a cocoa colored society. The USA as we know it now, will no longer exist. MCG

Where is the article about Joe Bidens longstanding relationship with the credit card industry lobby? Is that what you call looking out for the middle class?

The link below contains a purported list of the top 25 in Congress who got contributions from the folks at Fannie and Freddie. Obama is listed third, after Dodd and Kerry, even though Obama is just a junior Senator. Obama is followed next by Clinton. Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi are on the list as well.

    http://www.investors.com/editorial/IBDArticles.asp?artsec=16&artnum=1&issue=20080918

Then there is the Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher J. Dodd who allegedly got special mortgage deals from Countrywide, who gave preferential rates to 'friends' of company's chairman.

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25140560/

For an interesting article purporting to detail the House Financial Services Committee Chairs long history with Fannie Mae, See http://www.businessandmedia.org/printer/2008/20080924145932.aspx

"House Financial Services Committee Chair promoted GSEs while former 'spouse' was Fannie Mae executive."

The link below describes how some in Congress tried to use the original version of the bailout bill to divert money eventually recovered to groups like ACORN, a group Obama has a long association with. See:

And then there is House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who allegedly has directed nearly $100,000 from her political action committee to her husband's real estate and investment firm.

Yes, you are right. The Democrats engineered this financial crisis and the Republicans are getting blamed for it. After 8 years of Bush bashing by the national media, the public has been trained to blame Bush(the Republicans) for everything from Iraq to hurricanes. You have to be insane to vote for Hussein...................North Carolina Mike

That was one snoozer of a debate. Very boring. Bring back Biden/Palin. Anyway, I still can't believe Obama said going into Iraq showed bad judgment, when Biden was one of the biggest advocates of the war. Also - what's the deal with McCain and the proposal to buy mortgages to help distressed homeowners? A bit out of "left field," right? Here's an interesting take: http://dissentingjustice.blogspot.com/2008/10/out-of-left-field-mccain-wants-feds-to.html

John McCain didn't debate Sen. Obama, he tried to belittle him. At one point, he refers to the Senator as "that one" as though his title and name are beneath McCain to even speak it! Barack Obama is an elected U.S. Senator and should be addressed as such. McCain's recent attacks against Sen. Obama are unnecessary and unfounded. His surrogate, Sarah Palin accuses Sen. Obama of being a terrorist in part due to his name?

  • Posted By: glimps @ 10/08/2008 1:22:31 AM

McCain wouldn't forgot., his name, his opponents name, how many houses he has, and where he was; the economic issues effecting the ppl, his policy on cutting Medi-Care for the elderly, the last good movie he watched, why his V.P. is not going on T.V. networks to support the issues,. Dementia effects old people that way.

Blacks are the only people in this nation who were brought here in chains. Whose names and identity were changed to suit their new masters. Whose language and culture was completely eradicated. Do the Asians who move here forget their heritage? What about the Mexicans and every other nationality? Hell no! But blacks are expected to keep the slave names forced upon them 200+ years ago? Have the Irish denied their history? Oo

  • Posted By: KnightHawk @ 10/08/2008 12:58:15 AM

People who complain about Sen. Obama's name are lost in the sauce. If he had a good old slave name like; Ben Jones, then he might qualify as a good negro, right? He's a terrorist to them who are afraid to look at the truth. Anyone who believes the war in Iraq is justified has to be a war-monger because Osama bin Laden claimed credit for 9/11 not Saddam. So we attacked Iraq... that makes sense in what world?

Obama won. Presidential demeanor. Delibrated thoughts, with educated answers, ON TOPIC, calm, gentlemanly (he offered to shake McCain's hand at the end, McCain is a COWARD who refused!!!).

McCain - continually flustered. Spewed only the same BS he's been shoveling for YEARS ( do NOT confuse this with "experience"!!!). OFTEN OFF TOPIC and attempting to slander Obama with lies.
Senile old snake with a beauty-queen wannabee for a chosen replacement.

  • Posted By: KnightHawk @ 10/08/2008 12:38:40 AM

The McCain camp depends on those who are afraid of having a black president to promote their racist rhetoric; fear-mongering is an approach that Republicans resort to when they have no other legitimate issue.
John McCain does not have a history of standing with the blue-collar worker. He voted with Bush 90% of the time and the average Joe Blow or Jane Doe aren't wealthy enough to bear the burden of supporting Wall St.

McCain is just an old man losing his senses. Our nation is already the largest mortgage company having to bailout Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. The silly old man now wants the government to bailout all the other lenders failed subprime mortgages? This coming from the man who is the Republican who is a fiscal conservative? I don't get it, and neither does the rest of America. John Sydney McCain III use your health insurance and get a thorough check up.

You'll see the entire plan this week...there is 200+ billion set aside in the rescue bill, for current mortgage holders. If foreclosures, dropping prices, and loss of equity don't end.....it will put us all in a position none of us want to be in..

Obama plans to repeal all the Bush tax cuts to pay for his Health care plan. (maybe)
    http://decision.healthcare.com/obama-mccain/
This is a tax increase for all tax payers, no matter what bracket you fall into.
It could possibly bring back the marriage penalty tax. Married couples that make similar incomes will be taxed big time if that tax is break is repealed. The marriage penalty tax was taken away in 2003.

    BREAKING NEWS............Hussein IS A COMMUNIST...............

    By Matthew Weaver

Did you know that Barack Obama was a member of the leading socialist party? In a small omission, Barack Obama apparently forgot to include in his resume, he entered politics as a socialist. This just keeps getting better and better. Barack Obama was active participant in the 1990s of the Chicago New Party and, importantly, the Chicago DSA, a group of socialists affiliated with the Democratic Socialists of America.

Barack Obama attended and participated in meetings the Chicago New Party and the Chicago DSA, the local affiliate of the Democratic Socialists of America.

Barack Obama sought the endorsement of the Chicago DSA.

Barack Obama actively used the endorsement from the Chicago DSA.

Barack Obama won his DSA-endorsed and backed campaign to secure his seat in the Illinois State Senate.

Barack Obama continued his involvement with the Chicago DSA and received their endorsements in subsequent campaigns.

McCain is grasping at straws...he would order the Treasury to buy up all troubled mortgages and then renegotiate them in line with new home values. Great in theory, but if I paid the same as my neighbor for my home with no subprime loan and I'm making my payments and my neighbor who has a subprime is not and he gets bailed out, where does that leave me.....making payments on an overvalued property? If you do it for one you must do it for everyone who purchased a home between 2004 and 2008. This needs a lot more study before it could be implemented and could cost a lot more than the 700B rescue plan in place now.

    • Posted By: MichiganLoyal @ 10/07/2008 11:40:55 PM

I completely agree with you. That's probably why this is the first we heard of his mortgage renegotiation plan, and the lack of supporting details on how it would work.

      • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 10/07/2008 11:55:27 PM

We will see the details later this week....there is around 200-300 billion in the rescue package......I do know this....if home values are not stabalized and increase in value and equity....we will be in situation that none of us wants....

Also...If Hussein is able to mandate small business Health Insurance...we will hit unemployment in the 20%+ range.....Many can not afford it...even with a 50% tax credit....it is a doomed to failure concept.....Hussein is a clueless little commie.

        NOBAMA!!!

I'm not here to slam McCain, I actually like him and appreciate his military contributions. But at the end of the day I think he's become a ghost of what he started out as in this campaign. He positioned himself - believably no less - as a politician that isn't afraid to go against his own party, as someone who's the best person to gain America's foothold with foreign relations, and as a guy that's not going to play typical Washington games. He has greatly disappointed many. He fell right into his party's stronghold, and chose a completely unfit running mate. Now he is trailing in the polls and his VP is grasping at straws with smear attacks while he goes along for the ride. He might not have all the same policies as Bush, but he sure seems to have fallen into the same puppet strings...

  • Posted By: izme @ 10/07/2008 11:27:40 PM

    Advantage of McCain's plan
Increased competition by health plans to cover the individual/family market should increase visibility of health plan pricing and ultimately lead to better pricing for coverage
Gives health consumers more choices for health plans by allowing them to purchase plans across state lines
Flat tax credit proposed by McCain provides the fairest allocation of government benefits to individuals and families (Because of the IRS??? progressive tax system, the exclusion of health premium payments by employers disproportionately benefits taxpayers in the higher income brackets)
Addresses health portability for private market insurance by enabling the sale of insurance plans across state lines (meaning that members who move states can remain with their current plan)
Costs of enacting McCain???s plan are more visible than the Obama plan and will be lower to enact

  • Posted By: izme @ 10/07/2008 11:10:26 PM

I like McCain's plan to give each family $5000 to purchase the insurance policy of their choice. This money can be put into a Health Savings Account if they want. In addition he plans to double the child exemption deduction from $3500 to $7000 per child. Wow! that is a good deduction!! If you have three children, you can deduct for $26,000 right off the bat!! At that rate, a family could get a good income tax refund on top of that. I LIKE THAT PLAN!!

    • Posted By: MichiganLoyal @ 10/07/2008 11:18:23 PM

What he doesn't tell you though is that basic health coverage plans start at $12,000. I don't think most American families will be able to afford to make up that difference, potentially leaving EVEN MORE Americans uninsured.

      • Posted By: izme @ 10/07/2008 11:21:56 PM

This is designed to cause insurance companies to become more competative.
        It very well could work.

        • Posted By: MichiganLoyal @ 10/07/2008 11:27:24 PM

Except of course if the insurance companies are allowed to go set up shop in a place that gets lax on their regulations and oversight.

The doddering old fool, John McCain, not finishing sentences, making outlandish accusations, stating falsehoods, whispering "my friends" a hundred times... my gosh I couldn't countenance four years of such McCain chicanery! Tom Brokaw issues all these reprimands and time reminders when it was Senator Obama's turn to speak, and then chuckles at McCain's idiotic "we didn't hear the fine amount" snipe. McCain looked like a cardboard cutout of himself, one wingtip in the grave, staggering around the stage proclaiming Ronald Reagan his hero. Please, people. There needs to be an extremely bright but appropriately modest statesman in the White House, someone we can trust like Barack Obama, someone we can admire like Barack Obama, someone who when we go to bed at night we know has the moral courage and keen insight and the ability to consider more than ways to feather his own nest when making crucial decisions affecting you and me, your family and mine, our beloved country. We need to unite behind the gentleman who will relate to the history books the story of the greatest President of the United States: Barack Obama. We have this tremendous opportunity within our grasp. Our nation's voters must elect Obama. ELECT OBAMA.
