This is the "fine" McCain tried to get Obama to admit about employers who choose not to participate in his healthcare plan...
???Pay-to-play??? system that would force employers that do not provide employer-sponsored plan to contribute additional payroll taxes to the national health plan

McCain wants to keep the poor people Poor

McCain does not want to keep the poor people poor. He just wants people to be responsible and take care of themselves. It is not the government's job to support the poeple.

Well, it wasn't our job to bail out the banks and such; They got into this mess and a few of them still walk away with golden parachutes....if you are going to tighten the purse strings, TIGHTEN ALL OF THEM!

I have no animosity toward Senator Obama; however, Senator McCain is correct. We live in dangerous times and need strong, experienced leadership to steer us through the troubles ahead. I believe Senator McCain explained his economic, healthcare, social security and foreign policy better. I don't need more government effecting my daily life and I want a leader that already know how to take on Al-Quada.

      Therese:

Because I work for the Federal Gov't I receive the same health care benefits that Mr McCain and Mr Obama receive. Under that system I pay approx $500 a month for health care for my family. If you do the math Mr McCain's incentive would not pay for all of my health care. Look at what health insurance costs without the benefits I receive and you might want to think again about Gov't regulation. When you don't have much to live on the Government feels pretty good.

Also privatizing Social Security would be even more dire.

Mr McCain has never wanted for anything in his life and as Mr Obama has stated before he is out of touch.

Not only did McCain continues to lie during this debate ... he was dumb enough to lie right after Obama has specifically stated his position. Example: Mccain claimed that Obama would impose a mandate on small businesses and would fine them if they do not provide health care to their employees. McCain added to that effect that Obama never mention which amount the fine would be. Obama replied and made it "clear" to all who were listening, that there would not be a mandate, therefore no subsequent fine would be imposed. McCain sarcastically came back afterward and stupidly added "He (Obama) still didn't mention how much the fine will be!" McCain is too dumb to realize that everybody had just now c;early heard Obama mentioned that there would be NO fine.

Obama did very well at McCain's so-called "preferred format "of debate. Senator Obama appeared to be at ease with the audience and spoke in depth when giving an answer. McCain appeared to be a little agitated and kept pacing around the stage which did not help his sometimes off the mark answers which he could have spent more time on, had he not taken useless potshots at his opponent during the closely timed debate.
Obama faired much better with the American people tonight.

Obama filled his time with Ahhhhhhs and Annnnnnddds. He has even adopted his wife's gutteral grunt. It was like listening to a wordy essay in which he had to fill a certain number of paragraphs. No new info...same ol,same ol.

Yes, this debate was a generational showdown and the representative of the old guard leaves us no doubt that he cannot lead anyone anywhere any more.

did anybody also hear also that McCain called Obama 'this one'? I was shocked! No question who won the debate, forget McCain/Palin, move on

Overall, although both candidates scored some points, I believe Senator McCain was the most straightforward regarding the issues. Senator McCain talking from experience, was better explaining how to hand "political hot spots" around the world. Senator McCain plan regarding healthcare, social security and the economy offers more transparency and more accountabilty to the people! This is something we desperately need.

This debate is a classic example of political masturbation. It is designed to give the dumb American voter the illusion that he lives in a free country. This is not a real debate; the questions and the audience have all been pre-selected. The candidates know what will be asked. There are no surprises. Anyone stupid enough to vote for either of these bastards should be put away in an insane asylum.

McCAIN, in my opinion, was legitimate and spoke from the heart. In my opinion, he was honest and sincere -

Doesn't Senator Obama ever contemplate history. The European countries during WWII believed they could peacefully negotiate with Hitler and Germany. What happened is each country was overrun one by one. Does Senator Obama believe negotiations without pre-conditions will accomplish anything else? Our enemies will see us as a "Paper Tiger", all talk, no action. It will be our shores they are at next.

  • Posted By: Nowforthetruth @ 10/07/2008 10:18:29 PM

Okay Obama, I know its hard to keep straight, but one more time before the test: Correlation is not causation.

  • Posted By: Therese in NV @ 10/07/2008 10:15:12 PM

Our challenge is Russia, China and Iran using nuclear weapons. Senator Obama wants to meet with these countries without pre-conditions to negotiate? Senator McCain is right, we must apply sanctions with our allies to hold these countries accountable. Israel is one of our strongest middle east allie, they have been there for us and we must be there for them.

  • Posted By: Nowforthetruth @ 10/07/2008 10:15:05 PM

Ah yes. Islamist Iran, another perpetual gift from Jimmy Carter, much like the Community Reinvestment Act.

Listen folks. Intelligence is a GOOD thing. I know, Obama has a way of getting into your head, look at Sarah. The POTUS has be smart people. That's a good thing...Learn and research

Based on other blogs, Obama is cleaning MCCains clock. Maybe John will set up a commission to study how to win debates...

Let me remind people of a little history. When Russia collapsed, the Clinton Administration gave (it was loaned and never repaid) hundreds of millions in Tax Dollars to rebuild. All that was accomplished, people like KGB, Putin the funds to rebuild the country to the current threat to the region. Senator McCain is correct, we need to stand behind Georgia and other Eastern countries and sanction Russia economically. Hold back the goods and hold back the dollars and Russia will back down.

  • Posted By: Nowforthetruth @ 10/07/2008 10:12:22 PM

Didn't Obama once say that the Security Counsel was how to deal with Russia, . . . until someone informed him that Russia has a permanent veto on the Security Counsel. Oh yah, He???s ready.

Obama has not proposed to invade Pakistan. McCain does not listen. He is a one-issue candidate, and his top issue is the military.
