FACTCHECK.ORG

Sadly, Mostly True

McCain and Obama accuse each other of falsehoods, and both have good reason.

Comment: FactCheck.Org is owned by the Annenberg group of Chicago! Talk about a conflict of interest! And Obama has been telling people on the trail to check out the site to verify his opponents claims. Funny, every time that he endorsed something, it turns out to be a part of his spin machine! Like he raised objections in the primaries when Indiana required photo I.D. to vote. He Protested that It took away people's right to vote! I
knew then and there that he was up to no good! America, wake up from the MASS HYPNOSIS!

Comment: So if your accusing Factcheck.org of being bias, I challenge you to find another source of information that is considered bi-partison that criticizes both parties the way Factcheck does. Snopes would be the closest I could find, which doesn't really get into politics as much as Factcheck does.

Comment: Obama's view of the future of America - Socialism which is the next step to Communism!!

Under socialism a ruling class of intellectuals, bureaucrats and social planners decide what people want or what is good for society and then use the coercive power of the State to regulate, tax, and redistribute the wealth of those who work for a living. In other words, socialism is a form of legalized theft.

The morality of socialism can be summed-up in two words: envy and self-sacrifice. Envy is the desire to not only possess another's wealth but also the desire to see another's wealth lowered to the level of one's own. Socialism's teaching on self-sacrifice was nicely summarized by two of its greatest defenders, Hermann Goering and Bennito Mussolini. The highest principle of Nazism (National Socialism), said Goering, is: "Common good comes before private good." Fascism, said
Mussolini, is "a life in which the individual, through the sacrifice of his own private interests??realizes that completely spiritual existence in which his value as a man lies."

Socialism is the social system which institutionalizes envy and self-sacrifice: It is the social system which uses compulsion and the organized violence of the State to expropriate wealth from the producer class for its redistribution to the parasitical class.

Despite the intellectuals' psychotic hatred of capitalism, it is the only moral and just social system.

Capitalism is the only moral system because it requires human beings to deal with one another as traders--that is, as free moral agents trading and selling goods and services on the basis of mutual consent.

Capitalism is the only just system because the sole criterion that determines the value of thing exchanged is the free, voluntary, universal judgement of the consumer. Coercion and fraud are anathema to the free-market system.

It is both moral and just because the degree to which man rises or falls in society is determined by the degree to which he uses his mind. Capitalism is the only social system that rewards merit, ability and achievement, regardless of one's birth or station in life.

    Yes, there are winners and losers in capitalism. The winners are those who are honest, industrious, thoughtful, prudent, frugal, responsible, disciplined, and efficient. The losers are those who are shiftless, lazy, imprudent, extravagant, negligent, impractical, and inefficient. [What about the role of luckbeing in the right place at the right time or the wrong place at the wrong time? R. R. Pope}

Capitalism is the only social system that rewards virtue and punishes vice. This applies to both the business executive and the carpenter, the lawyer and the factory worker.

Comment: Vote John McCain !!!!! Vote John McCain!!!!!!!!!!

Is Barack Obama blowing smoke or not? Is Barack Obama a chain smoker or not?

If he is only a closet smoker and not transparent by smoking in public and admitting that he has a nicotine addiction then how can we trust him on other issues that are truly grave?

Does he smoke a lot of cigarettes only when he plays poker with his Chicago friends or is it a daily habit?

How can we trust him on health care if he is a smoker. Would not someone who really wants to hold down healthcare costs want to quit smoking.

We want to know if Barack Obama is going to promise to not chain smoke around Joe Biden because Joe Biden had asthma as a teenager. The reason that Joe Biden could not fight for his country in 1968 during the peak of the Vietnam War was that he had teenage asthma.

Comment: Vote John McCain !!!!! Vote John McCain!!!!!!!!!!

Joe Biden had horribly bad luck, ninety percent of all children are diagnosed with asthma before age six but Joe Biden was unlucky enough to be in the ten percent group of children who acquire asthma after age six and became asthmatic when he was a teenager. After five student deferments while he attended college and law school, his teenage asthma finally came to the attention of his local Selective Service Board and he missed the opportunity to serve his country during time of war as an officer.

But for his bad luck with his teenage asthma diagnosis, Joe Biden could have gone in and served his country honorably as a officer and a gentleman and perhaps as a Judge Advocate Law Officer similar to his son. Most Americans would be concerned about Joe Biden???s health if he had to step into the Presidency.

We hope that Barack Obama will promise to not smoke in front of Joe Biden because the smoke could aggravate Joe???s asthma that prevented him from serving his country during time of war.

Comment: "Not all Democrats agree with Mr. Frank that such policies are off-limits to criticism. Last week Rep. Artur Davis of Alabama said in a statement: 'Like a lot of my Democratic colleagues I was too slow to appreciate the recklessness of Fannie and Freddie. I defended their efforts to encourage affordable homeownership, when in retrospect, I should have heeded the concerns raised by their regulator in 2004. Frankly, I wish my Democratic colleagues would admit when it comes to Fannie and Freddie, we were wrong.'

"Mr. Davis is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus."

    'Rank snobbery'

Camille Paglia, who supports Sen. Barack Obama, has nothing but scorn for the way the media has treated Sarah Palin.

"The mountain of rubbish poured out about Palin over the past month would rival Everest. What a disgrace for our jabbering army of liberal journalists and commentators, too many of whom behaved like snippy jackasses," Miss Paglia writes at www.salon.com.

"The bourgeois conventionalism and rank snobbery of these alleged humanitarians stank up the place. As for Palin's brutally edited interviews with Charlie Gibson and that viper, Katie Couric, don't we all know that the best bits ended up on the cutting-room floor? Something has gone seriously wrong with Democratic ideology, which seems to have become a candied set of holier-than-thou bromides attached like tutti-frutti to a quivering green Jell-O mold of adolescent sentimentality."

All eyes on Obama means that the skeptics will be picking apart obama's policies and his tax plan! All this focus will let the voters see that under an Obama administration. They will be subject to higher taxes albeit his plan says otherwise but with 3 weeks left the skeptics get to look at it real good and also look at independent reports that debunk the Obama tax plan! Mccain may have played this one just right with one debate left he should be able to pull ahead in the polls before November 4 leaving Obama no time to adjust! FYI; ON OCT 9TH 2004 AL GORE HAD A 12 PT LEAD IN ALL POLLS OVER G.W. BUSH! BUT LOST TO HIM.... ADD THE FACTS THAT ACORN OFFICE GOT RAIDED WE JUST MIGHT HAVE A GAME CHANGER AFTER ALL!

Comment: FACTCHECK inserts ''now ''palling around. Does it deny that they ever did? I do not see it. Yet Obama did. We will recall that Ayers was once the man that he ''barely knew''. Stanley Kurtz laid this nonsense to rest once and for all with the release of the ANNENBERG Papers and the minute of Obamas social relationships with the Ayers/Dohrns. For FACTCHECK,it is a matter of semantics. For us,it is a matter of fact. Facts that are inconvenient ones to a man who probably thought, while he was ''palling around ''with Ayers back in the earlies of his political career, that he would never get this far,and yet never have to explain himself once having done so.

  • Posted By: cobalt6 @ 10/07/2008 6:19:07 PM

Comment: There is no indication that Ayers and Obama are now "palling around," or that they have had an ongoing relationship in the past three years. Also, there is nothing to suggest that Ayers is now involved in terrorist activity or that other Obama associates are.

Obama and Ayers have been friends for a long time, even on MSNBC they said that Obama talked to Ayers 18 months ago and has been to partys at Ayers house! He even had a party at Ayers house when he decided to run for president! The article is right Ayers now is not a terrorist but in the past he was, he was part of the underground and even tryed to blow up the Pentagon! So Ayers is a well known terrorist and friend of Obama!

Comment: And John Sydney McCain is a friend of G. Gordon Liddy. Domestic terrorist Liddy spent 4-and-a-half years in jail and paid hundreds of thousands in fines. Liddy has donated $5,000 to McCain???s campaigns since 1998, including $1,000 in February 2008. In 1998, Liddy held a fundraiser at his home for McCain. Last November, McCain was welcomed as a guest on Liddy's radio program..

In addition to his role in the Watergate break-in, Liddy was a key figure in the break-in at the office of the psychiatrist of Daniel Ellsberg, the military analyst who leaked the Pentagon Papers. Libby was charged with conspiracy; burglary 2 charges; wiretapping; contempt of Court and contempt of Congress.

In his book, Will: The Autobiography of G. Gordon Liddy, Liddy has acknowledged preparing to kill someone during the Ellsberg break-in, IF NECESSARY; plotting to murder journalist Jack Anderson; plotting to murder Howard Hunt to stop him from cooperating with investigators; plotting to firebomb the Brookings Institution; and plotting to kidnap protesters at the 1972 Republican National Convention.

WOW! Talk about your domestic terrorism! Nice company that McCain guy keeps.

Comment: P.S. Why was John McCain entertained by Italian Raffaelo Follieri (Anne Hathaway's former BF) in Montenegro for his 70th birthday? Follieri (for those of you who don't keep up with celebrity news) was recently convicted of money laundering and fraud. He made a contribution to McCain's primary campaign and promised help delivering the Catholic vote. I thought accepting money from foreign nationals was illegal. I wonder why McCain would choose to spend his birthday with an international con man. I wonder how many other shady friends he has.

Comment: There is another issue that has to be weighted in in the falsehoods of candidates, and that is the nerve
wrecking, and offending to the intelligence of the audience, when John McCain gives a response to an Obama statement. McCain always starts his response with: "Obama doesn't understand," and "Obama doesn't know," loudly, and then lower his voice to mumble a response.

I think it is about time for someone to ask McCain this question: Senator, you have said about 100 times - if
not more- that Obama neither knows, nor understand any issue. Senator, do you think Obama is too naive or too ignorant to be president of the United States? After all, Obama is a Ph.D, and McCain is not, while
Obama speaks to his audiences from memory, while McCain reads a scrip in all his campaign rallies.
The pre-written campaign speeches which McCain reads are his GPS (Global Positioning System) that
serves the septuagenarian McCain's failing memory to stay on the subject lane. McCain has no clue of
what is not written, including the difference between Shite and Sunny Iraqis; had no clue who is prime minister of Spain, and that Spain was a NATO ally - not a hostile country, and he had no clue how many cars or houses he had. Do we want a person with a badly failing memory at the White House.

The most serious falsehood McCain is perpetrating is his ability to lead while his memory is at a meltdown similar to Wall Street's, and his persistent effort to portray Senator Obama as a naive idiot. Nikos Retsos, retired academic

Comment: McCain and Palin can't sell their platform because even they realize that they have no substantive policies to present which differ significantly from those of the Bush years.

So instead they rely on instilling fear and hatred of somebody who is "different", a philosophy that is consistent with the history of the extreme right of the GOP. They are all about morality, but care nothing about ethics.

Comment: McCain's friend, unrepentant G. Gordon Liddy spent more than 4 years in prison for the 72 Watergate burglary. Far from repudiating him, McCain has embraced him.

In 1998, Liddy's home was the site of a McCain fundraiser. He has made at least 4 contributions totaling $5,000 to the McCain's campaigns, including $1,000 this year.

Nov 07, McCain went on his radio show. Liddy greeted him as "an old friend" McCain said. "I'm proud of you, I'm proud of your family," he gushed. "It's always a pleasure for me to come on your program, Gordon, and congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great."

Liddy proposed to kidnap anti-war activists so they couldn't disrupt the 1972 RNC. He planned the murder (never carried out) of an unfriendly newspaper columnist

Comment: Obama is getting a bump out of this because people are not being reminded of the whole history where the economy is concerned, and who did what when. Call it bias by omission. The media simply says that the economy is Obamas strong issue, but never discusses the facts in detail. Further, who had a majority when is rarely relevant. If the simplistic Party In Power model were true, then the Democrats would not have needed the House Republicans when they tried to pass the bailout bill, as Democrats have the majority in both houses and there is no threat of a veto. In theory, they do not need the Republicans to vote at all. In fact, something like twelve (12) Democrats from Barney Franks own banking committee voted against the bill. Obviously, it is not so simple and the media does the voter a disservice by doing little more than reinforcing the error. A similar argument would be to say that the economy appeared to be doing fine until the Democrats took over control of Congress and the power of the purse, then it tanked. As an aside, the media also misleads regarding the Clinton economy when they fail to mention that it also ended in a recession, requiring the first round of Bush stimulus checks immediately after he took office..

Do Obama and the Democrats deserve a lift in the polls as a result of the financial and mortgage problems? The answer from history is a clear NO. Here's the lead of a New York Times story on September 30, 1999:

"Fannie Mae Eases Credit To Aid Mortgage Lending" [link below]. That's 1999 folks. Clinton Administration, I believe.

Here's the lead of a New York Times story on Sept. 11, 2003:

"The Bush administration today recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago. "[see link below] The Democrats killed the reforms.

McCain said in co-sponsoring the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190:

"If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system and the economy as a whole. The Democrats killed the Bill.

What was Barney Frank and fellow Democrats saying at the time of these attempted reforms? According to reports, Representative Barney Frank(D-MA) claimed of the thrifts :

"These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis, the more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing."

Representative Mel Watt (D-NC) added of the reforms "I don't see much other than a shell game going on here, moving something from one agency to another and in the process weakening the bargaining power of poorer families and their ability to get affordable housing."
