The USA is called the "new world"-supposedly a total break from old governance patterns---most definitely monarchy..these articles are such a waste of time.

It kind of irrates me to read someone spent so much time researching about how Washington's family could have been royalty when we have so many decendants of Native American royalty no one every addresses.

Hmmmmmmmmmm, what if the whole world ended and there were no people left to rule over... no problem, our nation has no kings, queens(excpet the ones in the Keys), or royalty of any kind... never will either...

George himself did not want the title of King, but he did go to Scotland and offer it up to Charles, from the Stewart Lineage. Charles was Passed over by the Windsor Lineage and told George that if he accepted and died without an heir that the English Monarchy would be able to lay claim once again to America!! It turned out best for all concerned I think!!!

Even if Washington became king and his heirs after him - i doubt it would be anything more than a figurehead today much like the British or Dutch throne. If the monarchy was able to maintain power there are also no assurances that they would not have been overthrown by rival families (Hapsburg v Bourbon or Stewarts v Tudors) or usurped by rival claimants such as brothers or sons - Several current Arab King/Sheiks are only in power today because the overthrew and excuted their dads....thats love for ya

George himself did not want the Kingship, but he did go to Scotland and offer it up to Charles, from the line of Stewart, who turned it down stating that if he had taken it and then died with no heir, it would revert back to the English Monarchy. I think it worked out best for all!!

How can he be "a direct descendant of George Washington" as stated in the first paragraph, if George "Washington himself didn't have any children" as stated in the third paragraph?

Good for him! Living in a red state, but he can make up his mind on his own!
    Obama-Biden 08!

FYI: if a monarch is childless, his brother/sister becomes the heir. For example, after Queen Elizabeth II in England, her son Prince Charles will be King. After Prince Charles, his eldest son William will be King. However, if William does NOT have kids, then his younger brother Harry will be the next King, but if William HAS kids, then the his eldest child becomes the next monarch. Got it?

What about the original kings of this country, the ones you call "chiefs", or don't they count because they are not white or of English descent?

Oh I thought we had a monarchy, its called the Bush administration...

He's not a "direct descendant" (paragraph one) if George was childless (paragraph four).

  • Posted By: lizbet @ 10/08/2008 2:14:24 PM

Why didn't you read the explanation right there? These are the descendents of George Washington's Older Brother. There, I saved you the trouble.

CCFORLIFE08: Your comment begs the question, "Who is the moron?"

  • Posted By: WE BE AMERICANS @ 10/08/2008 1:09:49 PM

WE ALREADY MONARCHS! WE HAVE "KING TED (KENNEDY)" AND ALL THE OTHERS THAT SHOULD BE SUBJECTED TO TERM LIMITS. IT WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE A LIFELONG OFFICE. THE ONLY MONARCHY WE DONT HAVE IS THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT AND HE IS JUST THE WHIPPING BOY FOR CONGRESS.
