It is very hard to compare a proven record with a "what is possible" record. The question should be, which guy can get some of the things I want passed into law? The next president will be working with (probably for a short time) a 9% congress and 100 people running for president in 2012.

I consider George Soros to be a domestic terrorist. I hope he gets caught like he did in France and UK so that we can throw him out of our country.

    • Posted By: trewblue @ 10/08/2008 9:45:29 AM

Speaking of supporting domestic terrorists... In the early 1990s pro life radicals were attacking abortion clinics, doctors and nurses. Congress decided to enact a law to protect doctors, nurses and staff at abortion clinics. Guess what! John McCain voted NO on this law twice! John McCain protected the anti pro choice bombers and killers NOT the Doctors, nurses and patients.

Also speaking of supporting domestic terrorists -- how about high school education Todd Palin's membership in the Alaskan Liberation Army (AIP)?

  • Posted By: dianlarkin @ 10/08/2008 9:52:43 AM

Chaos McCain & 6-Pack Sarah are the Axis of Evil

They are liars and terrorists (this is not sarcasm or a joke) -- they are creating a climate all too close to the pre-WWII Germany climate and they are terrifying to me

6-Pack Palin needs to be criminally charged for trying to incite a race riot and hate crimes during her KKK, I mean Presiential rally just the other day where she stated "He [Obama] is not one of us" ultimately her incendiary comments worked her audience up to shouting "he's a terrorist" and "kill him"

Kill him? In America? A US Senator and Presidential candidate? That sounds like terrorism and treason to me.

She causes this hate and stands there winking and smirking

She may have learned these tacticts from her high school educated husband during his membership in the Alaskan Freedom Fighters (AIP) whose leader Volger, before he was murdered, ranted: "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hated of American....I'm an Alaskan not an American."

Todd Palin is the one who "pals around with terrorists"

God forbid this horrible anti-God antt-American nightmare of a woman is elected -- anyone who criticizes her will be a 'terrorist' and disappeared -- she is too close to a Nazi for me. And McCain actually is a Nazi as a board member of the group supporting the Iran-Contras.

American please vote for the Constitution and the American process and vote against the dangerous, under-educated, Anti-American, Anti-God, Chaos McCain Train to Hell

    • Posted By: izme @ 10/08/2008 9:56:11 AM

Obama has placed himself in a position of criticizm by running for President. People criicize him because of his stand on the issues, not his color. You dim wits need to get past the race issue. IT'S THE ISSUES DUMMY.

  • Posted By: dianlarkin @ 10/08/2008 9:55:43 AM

McCain's health plan changes nothing for the middle class EXCEPT HE WILL CHARGE YOU TAXES ON YOUR MEDICAL INSURANCE COSTS IF IT IS PAID BY YOUR EMPL:OYER

    McCain is a war monger

How do you figure he is going to pay for his wars -- both in terms of $$ and in terms of human cannon fodder?

    • Posted By: fccFH @ 10/08/2008 11:24:00 AM

THANK YOU! Why do people continue to forget that when McCain says I am going to cut spending, but then in the next statement says I am going to stay in Iraq and Afghanistan for as long as we need, that those two statements cannot go hand in hand. Is he saying that we will stay in Iraq but stop giving our troops money, stop giving them the equipment they need, and stop supporting their families? Furthermore, when McCain proposes his health care package, do people not get that five thousand dollars does not even come close to what your medical coverage is? And if your employer is not going to cover you, you are left out in the cold with five thousand dollars of money that will basically cover nothing. What is even more of a joke is that McCain proposes tax cuts to insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies, both which have no intention of lowering their own price plans to every day Americans.

Sorry I have too more on his tax cuts- how do people feel a flat tax is fair and is going to help every day Americans? If you make $30,000, why do you feel it is alright that someone making $300,000 is in the same tax bracket as you? And then finally, when McCain says that he is going to cut taxes, but then proposes a $300 billion bailout of bad mortgages, where do you people think that $300 billion is coming from? Its from taxes. Bush came in saying he will get rid of spending and cut taxes. Well lets see, we now have an unprecedented amount of debt given his unprecedented amount of spending. McCain is as big of a phony as Bush- people, do you not see that McCain will destroy this country?

      • Posted By: dianlarkin @ 10/08/2008 11:28:52 AM

thank you so much fccFH so well said and a great explanation of McCain's policy to Hell for the middle class

remember this is deregulate mccain we are talking about

stop being played by Palin's inappropriate sexualization of her campaign and stop being played by his mercenary endless references to his vet days, vets must get sick of hearing him use his military experience, worthy as they are, so shamelessly and stop falling for his fake sincerity act -- remember this is a man with a legendary unstable, abusive, violent temper

  • Posted By: Loden Green @ 10/08/2008 10:35:25 AM

McCain was not impressive last night. He looked like a rerun of an old movie. His day in the sun is fading fast.

    • Posted By: edjones65 @ 10/08/2008 10:55:11 AM

I agree, he had to do something to stand out as to, "why we should pick him". but instead it was more of a repeat ot the last debate and neither one was saying anything new.

  • Posted By: Geepa @ 10/08/2008 10:03:07 AM

Is it my imagination or didn't anyone notice McCain's stance during the debate. I'm 70 and I certain did. His shoulders were hunched at times, and he appeared to be in pain. Considering all the abuse his body has had during the years it's no wonder. But it does affect your mental acuity. Believe me. Pain killers only make things worse.

Also, isn't McCain's face on his "bad side" more swollen than at the last debate?

A healthy president is essential. God forbid we wind up with Palin as our president.

    • Posted By: olderwiser @ 10/08/2008 10:07:54 AM

More telling than that was his inability to remember the three parts of the question presented and had to write them down after asking what they were. This is a common failing in the older deteriorating brain and is known as short term memory loss. The main reason that I know this is that I am older than Mc Cain and have been dealing with this. Some of us are just too old to be president. Our crucial parts are wearing out and the job is too big, too fast moving and too complicated for one with these naturally occurring disabilities. Ronnie Reagan barely got out of office before his whole apparatus cratered into Alzheimer's. Beware.

      • Posted By: olderwiser @ 10/08/2008 10:10:39 AM

Further on this, the whole ticket is disabled in a sense. If Mc Cain's lights went out before his term or terms expired, his vacuous vice president could do little more than he for other obvious reasons. She just doesn't have it.

        • Posted By: izme @ 10/08/2008 10:31:04 AM

I would gladly vote for a "Palin/McCain" ticket!! Palin has 100% of my support.

you neo-nazis all use words like 'terrorist' and 'communist' to justify your unjustifialbe hate and smears

you are following the Axis of Evil and when you find yourself in the middle of WWIII or your wife disappears for criticizing dictator Palin you can blame yourself for being 100% behind 6-Pack Palin and Chaos McCain

            Palin is anti-god and anti-american

Palin is all about abuse of power and hate

Palin knows NOTHING about US or global issues

Palin is creating a neo-Nazi climate and McCain, an Iran-contra supporter, actually is a neo-Nazi

and you are all for that?

Health issues are not unusual to person's in the White House...

Even though Kennedy's physical appearance had not become visibly altered by the medications he took he was always concerned about the effects on his appearance from the steroids he took, including cortisone, as treatment for Addison's disease.

Imagine this, you are a young lawyer in Chicago, and your peers have encouraged you to run for state senate office. So our of the blue, a "guy" invites you to launch your campaign from his living room. Say for instance, you don't know who in the world this guy is (even though you served on a couple of committees with him and shared a podium with him a couple of times), but you just don't know who this guy is.......would you just let this guy launch your career from his living room with out even asking any questions? Hmmmmmmm
The "guy" is a 1960 "Unibomber", Bill Ayers...and according to Obama, HE DIDN'T ASK ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT AYERS' BACKGROUND.
IS THAT POOR JUDGEMENT OR WHAT???!!!

    • Posted By: dianlarkin @ 10/08/2008 10:47:57 AM

Let's say you are high school educated Todd Palin married to 6-Pack Palin and a "guy" invites you to join the Alaskan Independent Party and you hear all sorts of rants like "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred of America." etc. would you stay a member of that party until it became apparent that your ties to a domestic terrorist organization could detail your wife's bid for power?

Palin is the one who 'pals around with terrorists"

Ayers protested the Vietnam war alibeit wronfully -- today Ayers is a college professor and works to improve this nation's educational system something we desperately need
Palin is an acutal current domestic terrorsit

The climate McCain and Palin are creating is one of absolute hate, fear, intolerance and danger to our freedom.

    • Posted By: suzvoter47 @ 10/08/2008 10:43:11 AM

Enter Your CommentAbsolutely true, It sent shivers down my spine when McCain and Palin insighted and allowed extremist to scream "terrorist" at the rally in NM and "Kill Him" at the rally in Florida run by Palin. It was clearly heard by all and you can see it registered on both of the candiates faces, yet it went unchecked and not addressed. Thsi caused the secret service to get involved as threatning or screaming Kill Him with refernce to Obama is a very serious manner for any candidate.

Both MCCain and Palin have shown how low and dangerous they have allowed their campaign to go.

This is unacceptable to most Americans I would belive. Neithe of them have the honor, dignity or couth to be in the White house

If you are surprised is because you have not read the Rolling Stone article this month Make Believe Maverick (here is the link : http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/make_believe_maverick_the_real_john_mccain?commentPage=8#rate
And you have not google McCain temper, then you will understand that his sometimes so-called kind, soft talking is theater, his true temper is very hotheaded and cursing, yelling is a normal feature of his character.

Obama is consistent both in the debates and speeches, his tone, his remarks, his critics. But McCain and specially Palin, do a show during the debate and next day the go on the attacks. They transform from civil to attack dog, like nobody is noticing and taking notes of those inconsistent patterns of behavior and statement.........

    • Posted By: dianlarkin @ 10/08/2008 10:31:12 AM

McCain's abusive temper should be enough to make anyone leery of him -- people with abusive tempers are usually unstable which McCain has demonstrated time and time again

Add to that Palin's proclivity to abuse whatever power she is given and her recent hate rally and you have a lot of trouble

Not to mention McCain calling Obama -- "THAT ONE?"

how do you Chaos Train Supporters justify what McCain did last night?

  • Posted By: avcross @ 10/08/2008 8:57:46 AM

Two great candidates running for the highest office in the land. Both maybe considered the leaders of their respective party. I CONSTANTLY hear the term "maverick" being used from the McCain/Palin camp like it's such a good thing - it's not. It doesn't give much credit to the party he represents and comes across like someone who isn't a team player. With a temper like Mr. McCain has, I bet he has a few scores to settle with some folks within his own party for sure.

    Obama/Biden '08!!!

    • Posted By: dianlarkin @ 10/08/2008 10:29:09 AM

Yes MAVERICK -- unstable, lone rouge, chaos and confusion causer

  • Posted By: WeMustGetItRight @ 10/08/2008 9:26:06 AM

Obama is a politician, McCain is a leader. I didn't hear Obama say anything other than Rah, Rah, Rah, vote for me, I'll cut taxes, the past eight years ruined this country. Why is it he always user cutting taxes to get elected and then doesn't do anything. He can talk the talk because he's an actor but I don't think he can walk the walk. He has no experience. If Americans want real change they need to vote for McCain who's record does show that he proposes legislation to benefit American people and opposes Democrats and Republicans when needed also to benefit the American people.

    • Posted By: dianlarkin @ 10/08/2008 10:12:59 AM

McCain is not a leader -- he is an inciter of hate to the absolute best of his ability and otherwise he is a master of confusion, drama and chaos. He is unstable and erratic.

one minunte the economy is sound, 90 minutes later it is in absolute crisis.

      you call that a leader?

or are you referring to Palin and her hate crime rallies?

Is the Chaos campaign still suspended? Did he fix the economy yet?

      • Posted By: WeMustGetItRight @ 10/08/2008 10:23:34 AM

How dare I talk about experience??? Obama is in his first term in the senate. He hasn't done anything or proved anything. Palin isn't running for president but she is a good attribute and knows the issues weighing heavily on society. Who do I want leading the country, a man with 26 years in the senate or 1? The choice is easy and if America would open their eyes this election would be a landslide. Unfortunately America has become too Hollywood and would rather have a guy that can patronize rather than rationalize.

    • Posted By: dianlarkin @ 10/08/2008 10:13:49 AM

how dare you talk about experience -- what's good for the goose is good for the gander -- Palin has FAR LESS experience than Obama and if elected she will ultimately be president because McCain is incoherent already

  • Posted By: izme @ 10/08/2008 9:39:36 AM

Obama thinks that oil companies, insurance companies, large corporations are all bad. BUT he doesn't think that America haters like Rev. Wright, Louis Fahrakan, Hugo Chavez, the Castro brothers, and Bill Ayers are not bad.
    America, WE'VE GOT A PROBLEM.

    • Posted By: dianlarkin @ 10/08/2008 10:03:40 AM

  • Posted By: Geepa @ 10/08/2008 9:59:18 AM

All through the debate I was struck by McCain's physical appearance. He seemed in pain walking around (no wonder, considering all the broken bones he must have suffered while a prisoner). His shoulders were slightly hunched, and he had at times a slight tremor. Didn't anyone notice this? Being 70 I do. And it slows you down, regardless of how active you appear to be. I ought to know.

Also, is it my imagination or was McCain's face more swollen on his "bad side" compared to his last debate?

As for Obama, he definitely needs to eat more. Also, his hair is greying. But he appears to be holding up well.

Some may say this isn't relevant, but believe me regarding McCain it is. God help us if Palin becomes president.

Did anyone else notice that McCain has some serious anger issues. I dont trust that man and I never will. To put him in the White House would be a horrible mistake for the American people. If you think we are in a mess now it will be worse if he won , and these two debates have shown that. Dont even get me started on Palin. To know she would be one step away from the White House scares me half to death. At least Hillery Clinton knew what she was talking about when she spoke. Barak Obama seams to have the plans , the brains and the compassion for the American people to do the right thing. Its Obama/ Biden all the way.

i'm sure there were many in pre-WWII Germany who said "it couldn't happen here...."

honestly, i don't feel like an American when the entire world hates us & I have to make excuses for my country when asked about politics. US politics and the choices made by Americans is an embarrassment. We have lost so much respect throughout the world because of the actions we have done, the choices we have made. Am I wrong to feel like a citizen of my adopted country because I am embarrassed by my own? Maybe, but that's how I feel. As an educated person & an independent woman, it's an embarrassment to see one Bush leave and McCain/Palin to be so close to the presidency.

Palin has abused whatever power she has been given in the past -- just think if the woman were to get her hands on some actual power.

the second ad was Obama talking about Obama's health plan

I am so appalled by the media's favortism to Chaos McCain and 6-Pack Palin -- why are they getting away with this stuff?

I am also so appalled and terrified at how manay people are jumping aboard the Chaos / Palin Hate Express. I thought Americans liked their freedom but I guess I was wrong -- there are far more anti-God KKK & Nazi types in this country than I ever wanted to admit.

  • Posted By: Abots22 @ 10/08/2008 9:56:16 AM

I think at this point, anyone paying attention has heard enough about the candidates' stances on the economy and foreign affairs. Obama might have well as been reading his transcript from the previous debate. I guess at this point playing it safe is a good political strategy, but really not all that inspiring. If the next debate doesn't address some other topics of interest like our childrens' education, abortion and immigration I think we can all declare that the liberal media won their first presidential election. Congrats to Brokaw for doing such a fine job "filtering" the questions. Anyone who says Brokaw is unbias, probably also thinks O'Reilly is unbiased. To all the socialists out there (oops, sorry, I mean "progressives"), you can say good bye to the capitalist incentive and personal freedoms that established this country as the financial superpower that IT STILL IS. I think Mrs. Obama summed it up best when she said (and I paraphrase), that the average American doesn't want the whole pie, they are happy with just their slice. Really?? Either she's calling us lazy or stupid, I haven't figured out which one yet. Easily said from a woman with an Ivy League education, earning over $300k/year, and currently campaigning to be the First Lady. If you pick apart the Obama's position on almost everything you will see it either signifigantly changes from week to week (off shore drilling, troop surge, Russia/Georgia) or it simply doesn't apply to the times (tax policy). The ONLY point I am willing to conceed to Obama is his health care plan, but even then until a candidate recognizes that it's a demand problem and not a supply problem, we won't have a workable solution to our health care situation (soon to be crisis).

Read up on the Born Alive fiasco and you will see that he bold-faced lied to the American people. Then tell me why the media flat out ignored this topic, not from an abortion stand point from from one of character and EXTEREME liberalism. This is a case in point of jusy how much Obama trusts the media not to run with anything that would condemn him. The same people who are angry with their government (myself included) should be equally as angered by the media's decision to HIDE THE TRUTH from us. And then you complain about how McCain is "desperate" and "angry"...hey, wake up, someone has to say it if the media refuses to. Then ask yourself one last question...not why was Obama interested in working with Ayers, but why Ayers was interested in working with Obama. Let freedom ring and GOD bless this great county on mine.
