Have any of these two presidential candidates looked into the
Fairtax? A disturbingly simple tax revenue: consumption tax. No corporate taxes, no buisiness taxes, no income taxes. A most important side effect no tax preparation, none!!! The plus and most important is the absolute disband of the most fav the IRS....

In this day in age the word "computer" almost always refers to an electronic device and not to any device or person that computes. Clearly, Obama was referring to the invention of the electronic computer, so he did get his facts right.

Have any of these two yahoos ever stop to look at the Fairtax?? A simple consuption tax, a tax that is collected when you buy new stuff or have services rendered: dental appointment, haircut, or going out to eat.

Yeah, I can see how you would know just by sitting on a BOARD with someone who was radical in the 60's, is presently an educator, and worked with him on education in the community makes your own character questionable. If that sounds reasonable, then tell me why you're not judging the CHARACTER of a man who was CLOSE family friends with a man (Keating) who was involved in a scandal that robbed 21,000 retirees of their life savings? How "liberal" is that mindset? If you're going to judge, take off YOUR conservative glasses and consider both before spouting off and not thinking

Do not forget how much character McCain had with his first wife. even he acknowledges that he did not treat his first wife right.

      • Posted By: independentK @ 10/08/2008 7:10:28 PM

I doubt Hillary or Jackie would say their husbands treated them right either. Infidelity is not a Republican or a Democratic issue...it is an issue of character and integrity...and both parties have had their share of poor representitives of those virtues in office.

        • Posted By: StayatHomeMom08 @ 10/08/2008 9:15:32 PM

I agree with both sides having character problems, but when one side bases everything on voting because of one sides character and does not mention the other side that is where the problems start. This whole campaign on both sides feels like grade school.

Finally, a voice of reason on the character issue. The sword cuts both ways ladies and gentlemen.

Look up infowars.com and prisonplanet.com. Watch Loose Change, End Game, or Fabled Enemies, all available via YouTube.com or the previously stated sites. The problem is far greater than Democrat vs. Republican.

Your discussion of the Fannie Mae mess is over-generlized. This is a what came 1st, the chicken or the egg question? The fault began with the carter/clinton Administrations (with Republicans help) pushing this loans to people who could not afford thse debts. This began the power and iffluence of the Dems (Barney Frank) and gave the mortgage industry one blank check after another. Industry officials became obscencely wealthly. Now, the American public is giving them another blank check! Disgusting!

    • Posted By: tera2167 @ 10/08/2008 9:03:12 PM

This mess was not made by either party individually - it was made by both. It really was the Carter-Clinton administrations that made this whole mess, after all, they were back to back administrations with out Reagan-Bush inbetween. If americans would stop trying to be partisain, and blaming only the party that they don't belong too, maybe the real problem of corruption in government could be addressed. Most of the politicians have their own interests, contributors interests, or some other type of stake in the decisions that they make.

go to infowars.com and/or prisonplanet.com, watch Loose Change and End Game (either on those sites, or on youtube.com). Watch it with an open mind, and then research the information for yourself. The problem is far larger than Democrat or Republican.

When will the American people wake up? I've been around since the 50's.and ever since i have been keeping up with what is happening in the political world the democratic pasrty has been slowly been inching closer and closer to the idologies of socialists. For those of you that don't know what a socialist is, all yoiu have to do is look back and remember what Russia was and is slowy becoming again. The policies of the democratic party are simple, (the government should be in croll of egvery thing). For those of you that are big Obama fans, You need to wise up. If not you and the rest of the country will be controled by the united socialist states and not have a voice in what is done by the government. Obamas health plan is nothing more than a socialist plan to get another grip on the American people.

John McCain did not convince a single sole that he is worthy of presidency. His, "that one" remark and refusal to debate in a technical sense only proved that he knows he's down in the poles and doesn't stand a chance. Simply put, John McCain was debating only to prove that he is more snith, and less detailed in his plan for office. Republican rule over the last eight years has failed. Change is needed, Barack Obama stands for change and should have the vote of every American that wants change.

    • Posted By: mikeb560 @ 10/08/2008 8:59:19 PM

ProPaul, What debate were you watching? Obama was nervous, stuttered and could not even follow the rules of the debate. Inexperience at debating even showed. You want your vote to go to an inexperienced politician, radical muslim, racist? That's up to you.
Obama wants to reduce our Military even more than it constrained now. Knowing darn well that a Nation with a weak Military can be defeated. He failed at the debate last night. It is the media that has this Nations population believing that he is the winner.

International equity expert Professor Paul Finn has underlined, ???the most fundamental fiduciary relationship in our society is manifestly that which exists between the community (the people) and the state, its agencies and officials. "

Many suggest the basic problem of stopping Human Rights violations and political negligence stems from the lack of understanding by media and politicians on the laws of fiduciary control. In equity fiduciary control suggests obligations that not only include duties of good faith and loyalty, but also include duties of skill and competence in managing the people's interests. After all, Government is a trust structure created by people to manage certain services within society with the politicians depended on by the people to do that task. Therefore the relationship between government and it's politicians and the governed is clearly a fiduciary one.

The way I see it the Electoral College and the press have already choose the winner of the election; regardless of the people vote, the tainted truth published by ABC, CBS, NBC, MSN, CNN, FOX, and others all express the truth they want to sway the voter when in fact the Electoral College will elect the next president, not the American Public. Wake up and eliminate the out dated College and lesson to the people America.

The best solution for social security is...get rid of it! It was something that FDR said was going to be for a very short time, during the Great Depression, and it was un-Constitutional! Saving for our retirement is something that the Federal Gov't was never intended to take on, and has no chance of ever doing correctly! Let people save for their own retirements, and let the states and private charitable organizations provide the safety nets!

    • Posted By: tera2167 @ 10/08/2008 8:51:03 PM

That is not a very good solution for those of us that have been paying into this system for over 40 years and are not at retirement age yet. We should be out of the money that we have been paying into this system. What if some of us have no other retirement accounts because we don't have money to invest by the time we are done paying for all of our monthly bills.

    • Posted By: sunset1972 @ 10/08/2008 2:20:17 PM

mdwilliam1967. Most people cannot be responsible for themselves. Why do we have this mortgage crisis? Because people spent more than what they can afford to. Imagine, buying a 500K house with a gross annual income of 40K. If we get rid of SSS and hope that people will save money for their retirement.
Then we have another crisis coming called RETIREMENT CRISIS.

Too bad no questions were asked on other important issues, such as Immigration and Abortion. But since NBC got to select the questions, I'm sure they didn't want to stumble Obama.

    • Posted By: disgusted and dejected @ 10/08/2008 8:48:44 PM

Are you crazy? Who cares about abortion and immigration, when the country is bankrupt and headed for a doozy of a recession/depression. WAKE UP, and realize the important issue will become how will you feed and house your family!
