The title, "Nonsense in Nashville" is pretty accurate. Not only was this not a debate, it was just plain stupid on both sides. Mudslinging, deliberately going off topic, failing to honestly answer any question posed. Both candidates are equally guilty. None of the "debates" so far has been a real debate. In a real debate, the debater is presented with a subject or a question, takes a stance on that subject or question, then defends his/her stance so that the audience is convinced that his/her stance is the correct one. Debates are not won by personal attacks or half truths against one's opponent. Debates are won by successfully defending your position on the given topic. Neither candidate has won any of the debates, because they haven't been debates, they have been slug-fests.
I think that most of the voters have already made up their minds, and will vote accordingly on election day. I think the last debate should be cancelled, and they should show an old John Wayne movie instead.

A politician (from Greek "polis") is an individual who is involved in influencing public decision making through the influence of politics or a person who influences the way a society is governed through an understanding of political power and group dynamics. This includes people who hold decision-making positions in government, and people who seek those positions, whether by means of election, coup d'état, appointment, electoral fraud, conquest, right of inheritance (see also: divine right) or other means. Politics are not limited to governance through public office. Political offices may also be held in corporations, and other entities that are governed by self-defined political processes.

"Politics, n., A strife of interests masquerading as a contest of principles. The conduct of public affairs for private advantage.

Politician, n., An eel in the fundamental mud upon which the superstructure of organized society is reared. When he wiggles he mistakes the agitation of his tail for the trembling of the edifice. As compared to the statesman, he suffers the disadvantage of being alive."

-- from 'The Devil's Dictionary," by Ambrose Bierce, 1911

I do not know about you, but I am in complete shock and disbelief, that neither of the Presidential candidates understand one damn thing about the problems facing our Country. Neither are explaining HOW this came about, regardless of finger pointing against the other Party. What ever happened to PERSONAL responsibility. I am so damn tired of hearing this crap, I would love to get my hands on their scrawny necks and wring the truth out of them. WE DO NOT need any more of these personal mud slinging attacks. We need LEADERSHIP, and neither one has shown one iota of it. We need ANSWERS NOW, WE NEED SOLUTIONS NOW, WE NEED a path out of this mess, not more BS. WE need an independent Counsel to prosecute all involved including Members of Congress. Absolutely shut down all Lobbyists, absolutely shut down all Pork/Sweeteners. CAP all spending now. Why in the World do we keep blaming others for our own damn stupidity, as it ws us that elected them to start with, and once elected we kept listening to their Bull *** and did not get off our collective ass and do anything about it. It is time we the American people rise up and in one very clear voice say no more.

I really agree with what "olliegizmo" stated in a comment on this page. It really doesn't matter in a sense who is elected president of the USA. It will undoubtedly take longer that 8 years to undo all the mess that Pres. Bush has created. The only immediate change possible for the next president is saving lives of US soldiers in the Middle East. I don't know why McCain praises Gen. Patreaus so much, we're failing at war, Patreaus is as much to blame as President Bush!!!

I can't believe how biased the news media is in these debates. They all said how good a job Obama had done. I sit there and watched the the debate unfold. The longer the debate went on the more flusterd Obama became. By the end it was very hard to understand what he was saying. when he didn't get to retort to some of McCains cvomets he started mumbling and stuttering like a spoiled brat. IS THIS THE TYPE PERSON THAT YOU WANT REPRESENTING YOU, if he reacts this way in a no pressure debate, How will he behaive when the country really strong comander in chief.

WHERE'S THE MEDIA ON WILLIAM AYERS AND HIS RADICAL ACTIVITIES. OBAMA SAYS HE HARDLY KNOWS HIM? HOW DO YOU HARDLY KNOW SOMEONE AND DECLARE YOUR POLITICAL ASPIRATIONS BEGINNING IN THE GUY'S LIVING ROOM? DOES THE PRESS GO ANY FARTHER THAN TELLING YOU AYERS IS A PROFESSOR? NO, IF THEY WOULD THEY WOULD HAVE TO TELL YOU THAT HE IS INVOLVED IN TRYING TO OVERTURN THE EDUCATION OF OUR KIDS BY ADVOCATING AN AGENDA BASED ON SOCIALISM. TWO YEARS AGO HE STOOD WITH HUGO CHAVEZ PRAISING HIM BECAUSE CHAVEZ INSTIGATED THE TEACHING OF SOCIALISM IN THE SCHOOLS. OBAMA HARDLY KNOWS HIM? OBAMA WROTE A BOOK REVIEW FOR HIM LESS THAN THREE YEARS AGO. REMEMBER AYERS BOMBED THE PENTAGON AND WISHED THAT 9/11 HAD DONE MORE DAMAGE AND KILLED MORE PEOPLE. OBAMA IS IN BED WITH THIS GUY AND SO IS MICHELLE. THINK CAREFULLY ABOUT YOUR VOTE.

Senator Obama did not have a close relation to Ayers. He served on the same board that Ayers served. The board that they served on was dedicated to improving the education of our youth. When Ayers engaged in those acts, Senator Obama was only 8 years old. Senator Obama should hardly be held, in any way, accountable for Ayers actions. I have held positions on different boards before. I did not do a background check on every one that I served with to make sure that they had not committed any crimes when I was a child. Shame on every one that has to use things that are not true to try and disparage some ones character because the will lose in a discussion of real issues.

It won't make much difference who is elected president. It took George Bush eight years to run this country in the ground, and it will take even longer to fix it. And because of that the next president will be hounded and ridiculed because of not acting fast enough to undo all the harm of Bush. Lets face it, this country doesn't have any money anymore. Jobs are gone, prices are higher, the American Dream just a fantasy.

Well, if you want reform, the first think you have to do is get rid of New York Times v. Sullivan and restore some credibility to the media.

Obama simply skirted the issues question after question. He could not even answer correctly what he would change. McCain has a good point in saying there is no time for "on the job training" .
With his ties to Muslim radicals and his long relationship with Jeramia Wright, whom to vote for is a no brainer. Obama sat in Wrights church for years. listening to the racist spewing that Wright was doing. It is manifested in Obama. Beware of the enemy within folks.

The debate last night was hilarious with Barack Obama criticizing John McCain???s plan for allowing insurers in different states to provide health care plans in other states. None of the national news commentators seem to pick up on the comment.

Senator John McCain said that his medical plan allowing plans from other states would lead to choice, competition, and lower costs for consumers and companies. Barack Obama said that would lead to inadequate protections and it would be similar to the incorporation laws of Delaware where most United States corporations are incorporated. Corporations from many states incorporate in Delaware.

Barack Obama was insulting the laws and voters of Delaware and his running Joe Biden who has been a Senator from Delaware for the past thirty years. Apparently Barack Obama feels that the incorporation statutes of Delaware are inadequate and offer little protection to investors or creditors of those corporations around the country. If that was the case, why hasn???t Senator Joe Biden from Delaware or Barack Obama jumped in there and get the Delaware state legislature to change the corporation laws of Delaware. Senator Joe Biden???s failure to do so for the past thirty years must reflect on him according to Barack Obama???s analysis.

It is amazing that Barack Obama would use an example criticizing the laws of a state of his running mate Joe Biden. Just imagine what Barack Obama would have said about Delaware incorporation laws if Joe Biden was not on the ticket. Independent and undecided voters of Delaware and around the country, vote John McCain!!!!!!!
