If you want this country to go to hell in a hand basket, vote Obama.
If you want this country to go to hell in a hand basket, vote Obama.
This country, unfortunately is already there. Simply put, if you like what has transpired in this country for the past eight years, you should vote for the McCain/Palin ticket...if you are fed up, then its Obama/Biden...
I'll give Sen. Obama his speaking ability is smooth but speaking ability doesn't get the job done. A planned attack to turn around this country by getting the economy back on track, holding the cooperate CEO's legally responsible for the morgage crisis is what is needed. I don't see a stable plan that doesn't change daily from Sen. Obama but ideas just to get votes. I see a man trying to show the American people what should be done but because because the people don't like the Bush administration or are staunt Democrates, they can't see past the road blocks they have placed in the road to see the real LEADER for this country. Pick the person that is best for the country not because he is affiliated with a group (Dem. or Rep.) Smooth talking won't get the job done just make you feel better about walking over the edge.
I devoutly believe that either of these Very Fine American Gentlemen would make a truly outstanding new Puppet-in-Chief; but the MSM is pushing St. Barack because there's some really nasty *** that DC'll be trying to sell the American public in the next four years, and they figure The Man from Illinois is the better snake-oil salesman. McCain tries it and we'll be in the streets in six seconds, whereas Obama will have half the people jumpin' out they socks to throw some more money at the Already-Too-Fat-Cats.
And just like Bush and his Neo-Cons with Real Republicans, Real Democrats won't figure out how bad they've been had for at least two years -- and then they'll defend the s.o.b. anyhow ...
Nice work, if you cangetit.
When will the American public finally bridge the 'intellegence gap' ? Surely, looking beyond partisan ideology
and personality cultism, is there a single candidate other than John McCain who can field the experience we need to overcome the predicament we, the country, now finds itself in. It has become apparent that my opinion has been maginalised and a majority believes in a Freshman Senator who, having little or no credentials in the field of governance, speaks with "golden tongue" of platitudes we all aspire too. But, given today's circumstance, such notions are naive and unattainable given current events. I agree with the majority opinion
that we need not repeat the last eight years of George Bush governance. And I do not believe that McCain would herald in a repeat of the same. But I am in fear of a Freshman Senator who speaks so eloquently and
lacks the experience to guide a nation through these turbulent times. Congressional Democrats need to assume equal responsibility for the financial crisis we face; their inaction and partisanship, under Nancy Pelosi's watch, has greatly contributed, directly, to this debacle. How many, in the news media, dare to expose
this 'little-known' fact!
But the President no longer "governs," compadre; he is simply the public face of the folks who really run this country -- he is to them as the Presidential press secretary is to the President himself. Savvy?
And for that job, Obama's golden platitudes are the perfect cover for whatever machinations they have in mind: He deplores trickle-down economics, but votes for the trickle-down bail-out. He deplores the waste of the War in Iraq, and wants to transfer it to a wasteful War in Afghanistan (truth is, the next Prex will keep us fighting in both places). Etc., etc., etc.
We are going to get another Bush term no matter which of these guys we vote for.
Obama's tongue'll just make it a little easier for the Fat Cats.
Dig?
Even before developing his political style in Chicago, with all the corruption of the machine, Obama was living in Indonesia. Indonesia has more Muslims than any other country in the world. Children don't question what they're taught . You like potatoes because that's what your mother put on the plate. Others like rice because they eat it every meal all their life. it's not wrong to like what you like, but when Obama went looking for religion he made the decision to join a church led by Rev. Wright. I think that's a pretty good indication of what really moves him and motivates him. He was a man when he associated with Bill Ayers and Rev. Wright. No coercion or deception there.
Currently, my employer pays $6,300 for me to have health care coverage for myself and my son. Of that, I pay $3,120.00 just to have my son covered on my plan. I pay a $150 deductible per year + $50 for each of his asthma medications that have no generic. I am curious how a $5,000 tax credit is going to keep myself and my son insured, when private policies are generally more expensive than group policies and usually cover less and have pre-existing requirements - which would exclude his asthma. Please tell me how McCain's plan will help keep myself and my son insured. I simply don't see it. $5,000 does not go very far when talking about health insurance.

What is interesting in this election is that the candidates are U.S. Senators. A Senator elected to the Presidntcy has been a rare occurance in the past 100 years; it has happened only two or three times (you fact checkers out there can help me out).
As Senators, there is much give and take to get legislation passed. It frequently involves unpleasant compromise; signing on to legislation that is only barely digestable but necessary to advance the over all good (in a perfect non-partisan world). This history of legislative activity is a gold mine when the Senator(s) wants to be President. Advocates and opponents can take this history of compromise and turn it inside out to support or attack any position that is convenient. With the data bases and communication tools now available it becomes much easier to take the original compromise out of legislative context and turn it to your advantage (FACTCHECK.ORG makes the attempt to put the actions and comments back into historical context). In fact what makes a successful Senator can be the undoing in a run for the President. In 2008, both candidates come from the U.S. Senate, thus negating the disadvantage to either one. Very interesting to watch.
I can't believe you overlooked the Obama mixed metaphor mangle "Green behind the ears". Obviously, he meant he was "green" as in immature or unripe, or he was "wet behind the ears" as in a newborn. But what he said was a blending of the two, each meaning the same.
WHY READ YOUR PRO-OBAMA ANALYSIS SECTION? IF YOU WERE REALLY DOING YOUR JOB YOU WOULD BE REPORTING, IN DEPTH, ABOUT WILLIAM AYERS AND OBAMA'S ASSOCIATION WITH HIM. ABOUT ACORN THEIR VOTER FRAUD PROBLEM AND THE FACT THAT OBAMA WORKED FOR ACORN DURING HIS DAYS AS A "COMMUNITY UPRISER".
Senator Obama did not have a close relation to Ayers. He served on the same board that Ayers served. The board that they served on was dedicated to improving the education of our youth. When Ayers engaged in those acts, Senator Obama was only 8 years old. Senator Obama should hardly be held, in any way, accountable for Ayers actions. I have held positions on different boards before. I did not do a background check on every one that I served with to make sure that they had not committed any crimes when I was a child. Shame on every one that has to use things that are not true to try and disparage some ones character because they would not win in a discussion of real issues.
McCain will do anything or say anything to try to get elected. His "claim to fame" is earmarks. Remember him saying that he has this pen and he will cross out any that comes across his desk and you will know their names? But even before he is in office he agrees with the bailout that is loaded with earmarks, unless he considers "sugar" not a earmark.
Second he states that he wants to write down the amount owed by over mortgaged homeowners, Does this mean that if you and your neighbor bought the exact same homes with a mortgage of $500,000, and you were able to afford the mortgage, read your loan documents and have been making the payments, but your neighbor who could not afford the mortgage but got a loan that allowed him to make the payments for a little while and now can not afford the mortgage, he is going to get his mortgage lowered but you will have to pay the 500,000 mortgage, does this seem fair? or do I not understand his proposal.
We can not afford four more years of this. and don't even get me started on Palin.
Take off your liberal shades and look at the facts.... Not opinions, no emotions just facts... With Ayers, Wright and other he has been associated with tells the story of who Obama is... Tell me people who have influenced him for over 20 years not affect who is?? most of the city, county council members that were associated are now being prosecuted at the federal level... FACTS
Try this FACT about McCain the POW Songbird who did far worse then Jane Fonda....
http://www.vietnamveteransagainstjohnmccain.com/cin_declassified_landing.htm
You need to deal with the FACT McCain as a POW told the Vietnamese how many NEW Pilots were transferred with him to the Aircraft Carrier he was on... Plus other information... Is McCain open as a potential President to Blackmail and or extortion by Foreign Governments who have copies of his co-operation with the enemy as a POW??? It's called giving AID and Comfort to the Enemy... NO! McCain is NOT a Hero ,or My Friend... Check your Obama Facts also... Ayers did NOT invite Obama to a Political get together in his Home... Obama was invited by his Mentor to that get together, NOT Ayers...
What will it take to have Michael Bloomberg run as an independent. It is about time we eliminate this two party rule! Is Ross Perot still around?
I couldn't agree with you more! I think most of the country is so sick of the candidates and their B.S. in trying to get elected they have lost touch with reality! None of them are telling us anything that pertains to the real problem or how to solve it! I am so sick of the past 8 yrs. and I am a former Republican but agree with you that we need to get rid of both parties and vote for someone who is non-partisian who knows what is best for our country! WE ARE SICK OF ALL THE B.S.!!!
I agree also.
Obama will win this November, because most Americans are not stupid enough to fall for McCain's lies and distortions. Only narrow-minded right-wingers are falling for this Ayers nonsense and that is only because it serves their racial prejudices. McCain might as well substitute the word "terrorist" for the "n-word", because that is what he is really saying and we all know it.
I would not be calling someone a liar if I was in the Obama camp. He is the biggest liar in politics.
Oh really, and McCain isn't? I suggest you do your homework Connie! You want more of our "beloved" crook and war monger of a President who has taken this country down about as far as he can and I was a Republican for the past 30 yrs! Get your facts straight as it's idiot's like you that we should really fear!
The only STUPID AMERICANS are the ones voting for a liar and terrorist. You will be very sorry if Obama gets in as president. He will give our country to the terrorists. He is the liar.
Couldn't you guys come up with a more cynical name than "factcheck.org". This krap is just the liberal litany packaged in a new wrapper. You're clarifying facts, you're peddling ideology. And you''re shilling for the "One". Really, really lame.
Maybe while you obtain your much needed education on the facts, you could also get a few grammar and spelling lessons also.
McCain will do anything and say anything to win. His "claim to fame" is earmarks, remember he has this pen and he will cross out any that come across his desk and you will know their names-Not even in office and he signs this bail out loaded with earmarks, unless he considers that "sugar" is not a earmark--And before you say Obama voted for the bail out, Obama never said he would get rid of earmarks.
Second McCain wants to write down amount owe by over mortgaged homeowners - Does this mean that if you and your neighbor bought the exact same house worth 200,000 and you were able to make the mortgage and read your loan docments and have been making the payments, but your neighbor who should never had qualified for the loan but got the mortgage with an payment he could afford but can't now he will get his mortgage lowered but you will have to still pay the 200,000 mortgage? Does this seem fair or do I not understand his proposal.
We can not afford four more years of this. And don't even get me started on Palin.
Hey stayathomeMom, you are exactly right! McCain sounded so desparate because he knows he is losing, especially after last night and certainly in his choice of a running mate! Let Tina Fey take over for her - she is doing a better job! Unless the voter's deaf and blind and without any knowledge of the Bush administration you will vote for Obama! I was embarrassed for McCain with his repeated rhetoric "my
friends" and his demeaning and sarcastic treatment of Obama. What a sad man!
sorry about the double post. i got an error message the first time????
My friends, McCain made another egregious misstatement: "$3 million for an overhead projector at a planetarium in Chicago, Ill. My friends, do we need to spend that kind of money?" According to Andrey Kravtsov, Associate Professor of Astronomy at the University of Chicago, "The 3 million is actually for an upgrade of the SkyTheater - a full dome projection system, which is probably the main attraction of the Adler Planetarium." Yet again, McCain's short-sighted anti-spending rhetoric blows up in his face.
muddy--I'm game for anybody else. We need to get someone strong enough to go against these guys.
For the first time in my life I am voting Libertarian. I can't stand anything coming out of Washington right now.
