As for what yazzyyaz said, it doesn't make sense. Nobody is forcing their faith on anybody. Supporting certain policies and laws is often the result of a person's faith. That is just them standing up for what they believe is right. Nobody is forcing someone to accept any religion just by voting for or against anything. How they operate and what they support is simply often times a product of their faith. Let's make one thing clear, this does not force any faith on anyone.

I can understand what yazzyyaz means but I don't think the part about how "those that are mine will heed my call" applies here. What your beliefs are should control how you operate. If voting a certain way or supporting a certain policy is something you do because of your faith, that isn't forcing your faith on anyone. It is a result a faith in a certain thing, not forcing fatih on others. So, when you say in the last line of your post "of how faith should be implemented into public policy" I think that you're off base. They are n't forcing anyone to accept their faith. Faith is what you believe in, and what you support in public policy should be the result of your faith.

Private faith should not be made public policy...plain and simple. What you wrote is what YOU believe...you simply can NOT force that on to the entire nation...not even Christ walked around FORCING people to do ANYTHING. He said those that are mine will heed my call...implying a free will to come or not. I can not STAND when people throw my God under the bus to promote their own ideologies of how faith should be implemented into public policy....ugh :-(

Obama is advocating for personal freedom. If you don't want an abortion, don't have one. But don't expect everyone to agree with your beliefs. How would you like it if someone told you that you couldn't take a shower because God wouldn't like it?

I think you are confusing partial birth abortion with more common first trimester abortions, but in any event, your rant is ignorant and intended to be inflammatory, but it fails to be ultimately, because you sound like a religious kook and not much more...

Sorry for causing so much non-topic debate here...the debate is good, but probably not for this discussion.

Getting back to the issue, I have seen many times that kids have unusually insightful opinions that lay aside all of the political talking points. Although to truly vote you should try to understand the undercurrents that make a topic complicated, it is also useful for us to look at raw, unguarded observations to remind us of why we vote in the first place: to make the world and our country a better place. I think kids should be active in developing their own opinions since they will take over the electorate eventually. Kids shouldn't vote until 18, but they should be forming their own political identity before then...they have the capacity.

Also, Obama's beliefs mean that if you want to have an abortion, you can. That's fine. If you are against abortions, don't have one. All Obama is doing is advocating for personal freedom. How would you like it if someone said you couldn't take a shower because God wouldn't like it?

And who, exactly, is to bear the brunt of prenatal care when these women and children victims of rape and incest are forced by your faulty logic into having babies they never wanted? Having a baby is not simply a matter of letting it come to term and popping it out in a nice, brightly lit maternity ward. It's an expensive, life-threatening situation, and I'll bet very few of you spouting off your statistics knew that even here in America, one out of every 1,800 women dies in childbirth. Even in this time of advanced medicine, we have one of the highest rates of mother mortality in the developed world.

But it all boils down to whether you believe a "soul" is a part of a fetus or not. This is something upon which people will never agree, regardless of how heated some people get about it. Some people think conception=life and soul. Others see a group of cells and nothing more. The solution to this quandary will not be found by proseletyzing and preaching on a message board.

As to the one calling herself celticprincess: You are an evangelical Christian blinded by her own dogma. Not everyone sees the world as you do. The fact that your comments clearly reveal you to be evangelical (thereby ignoring all science for faith) and then start discussing how children have no sense of logic and reasoning is one of the funnier oxymorons I've come across. You holler and hoot about children being "brainwashed" by watching a video of Obama right after you preach to everyone on this message board about how they should present all sides to their children, present logical and fair arguments and allow children to make up their own minds. I have a distinct feeling that if the children had been shown watching a video of McCain, your comment would have been praising the direction the country was headed towards, instead of invoking racist and poorly informed images of Hitler and of war, hence continuing your religion's and your political party's fear-mongering.

Please, don't fool yourself by talking logic and reasoning, when you clearly show none of it yourself.

And now I'm just being snarky, but I have to say: you might want to do a little bit of research on who and what Celtic princesses were really about before you call yourself one. You're gonna have to go back before the birth of Jesus to do this, but it's okay--I'm pretty sure the Old Testament was being written around the same time your Celtic princesses were worshipping the sun god.

Celticprincess, you are ignorant. Not everyone is Chrisitian. Some people are Islamic, Buddist or Atheist (And don't you dare even think they are wrong for thinking this, everyone has their own beliefs), and you should reprimand yourself because you stated "to look at all sides of an issue before making a decision." Obviously you yourself were not taught this.

Also, you want to criticize Obama's foreign policy? Have you seen the V.P. debate between Biden and Palin? Palin thinks she has foreign experience because Russian and Canada are in close proximity to Alaska....That is the stupidest thing I've heard someone say. If that is true, that anyone living on the northern side of the U.S has foregin policy experience due to Canda being at the borderline, and anyone near Texas and California have experience because of Mexico. Tell me, amidoinitrite?

Wow, how did this forum become such a poster board for the evils of both political parties? there are some serious issues that need to be addressed, but for a forum that started on a Childs opinion on the upcoming election, I don't see a whole lot of children friendly words flying back and forth here....

People, if we are going to fix the economy, what we need to do is take that 700,000,000,000 dollars that they are bailing out yet another self absorbed greedy wall street gigantic screw up, and distribute that money through out the population to every citizen over 18, that has a job... that would be J.O.B. and guess what we would do with that money? We would put it right back in to the economy, to save our homes, to feed our families, to promote the stimulation that needs to be put back in to our economy. Let Wall Street figure it out AFTER we have spent our dollars on the things that matter to us all the most... family, home, food, school, vehicles and clothing our children. Not to mention the much needed break t would give us towards medical care expenses... then wall street wouldn???t need bailing out. The banks wouldn???t be failing due to foreclosures, and the American people would be stimulating their own economy in the ways that matter most to them!!!!!

I don't recall calling myself a true Christian anywhere in my post. Perhaps my comments hit a little too close to home? Hmmmmmmmm . . . . . .
