Shut up "frankieosf". You're just mad that you weren't as engaged in politics growing up cause you were too busy out screwing the pigs in your back yard.
Kids today ar MUCH more educated and need to have a VOICE in everything!!!

    • Posted By: Frankieosf @ 10/10/2008 1:56:48 PM

Your a MORON! How would I be mad about not being involved in politics growing up?! Why dont you go somewhere else to spew the diarrhea that comes out your mouth!......Oh, and by the way I never seen a pig except in books, TV and on my dinnerplate.

I totally agree with "children aren't stupid just smaller and less experienced". It is about time we started realising we are raising adults not children. Children should be encouraged to be politically aware. They should be educated on the issues from global warming, economy, war everything. I do mean educated not filled with opinions. The children will inherit all of our decisions both wise and unwise. They need to be taught to see through the intolerance, self indulgance and ignorace of people with their own agenda, not the good of a global society - that are in policy making positions now; so in the future this can be stopped. You do realize these 10 year olds are just 2 elections away from voting. What type of voter do you want making
decisions int he future. So encourage our young people to think, question, reason and make decisions that maybe can undo some of our unwise? decisions.

iheartpolitics - Hopefully those kids arent educated by you. This is an adult conversation and you sound like you are 14.

I disagree with Frankieosf as I believe that kids SHOULD be involved in politcs. It is NOT their right to make a decision but I believe that the point of the article is that they become aware of what making an informed political decision involves. If we (parents) do not teach our children about politcs and what different views are said and unsaid; then how will they be able to process the information when they are 18 and can vote? How will they understand the research and process if we never explain WHY we are going about things the way we do? Unfortunatly I believe that people shelter their children from life too much and so now we have 20somethings who don't care or don't understand, so they have taken the position of I will let someone else make the choice for me. That is not the future I want to live in......

Yes, Obama bin Ladin is into brainwashing. Well, at least his campaign (which is Obama). Just another smooth talking fraud. McCain is genuine.

    • Posted By: mpullen @ 10/10/2008 1:38:39 PM

You have to be kidding. All McCain has done since the convention is lie.

    • Posted By: nimodahooligan @ 10/10/2008 9:06:18 AM

I agree that "children aren't stupid just smaller and less experienced" It's about time someone realized we are not raising children but raising adults. If a child has the intelligence, interest and intuition to express his or her opinion on the election they should be listened to. They are the inheritor's of the results of our wise or not so wise decisions. So from Global warming, economy, war, abortion what ever the topic - let's teach them well today. Teach them to think and question and reason. We need to raise a more educated and informed new generation that will look for solutions to problems not create new problems through greed self indulgence, intolerance and ignorance as we seem to have done. These 10 year olds are just 2 elections away from voting. What type of voter do you want voting in the future?

  • Posted By: Sootie @ 10/10/2008 1:36:55 PM

Yes, children are influenced by their parents, but they are also highly influenced by the teachers who teach them. Just ask any parent who has or has had a 5th grader. That child will generally view their parent as sub-normal in IQ as compared to their teacher.

I agree with jmd8888. You just cant compare abortion with any war, because this is killing the weakest of our kind. You should always judge a candidate for president by how he treats ( not how he says he treats) the weakest and smallest of those under his care.

    • Posted By: jmd8888 @ 10/10/2008 1:33:54 PM

wow there is someone left that agrees with me!

  • Posted By: Anne001 @ 10/10/2008 12:45:54 PM

cowen123456, let me guess, are you a republican? How about you turn your TV off for that time frame and continue on in your own quest to be close minded and hear no other opinion. Do you turn off all the McCain/Palin adds or do you support all of their mud flinging? Maybe you can try and be biased and listen to both sides before trying to ban one canidate or another. And part of that 1/2 a billion was donated by me and I have every intention on hearing every word he has to say.
    Obama/Biden 08!!

    • Posted By: denestu @ 10/10/2008 1:33:22 PM

How exactly are you being unbiased?
      Vote McCain/Palin '08

  • Posted By: libertarian21 @ 10/10/2008 1:29:59 PM

Why are we only asking the children about MCcain and Obama? What about Bob Barr. We will never get rid of our 2 party system if we don't start educating our children about our other options. i bet more kids would agree with Bob if he were asked the same questions.
Don't know who Bob Barr is Google him!

  • Posted By: runnnnndmc @ 10/10/2008 1:28:56 PM

of course the children vote for the president that usually ends up being elected. who do you think children are influenced by? their parents. and it's their parents who are the ones actually voting come election day. that's common sense.

  • Posted By: smallchange @ 10/10/2008 1:25:27 PM

ummmm, where is there info that Baraq Obama is spending half a billion on one ad? Now he is projected to spend about $90 million on advertising through his entire campaign, which is a ton of money. But it is no half a billion dollars.

  • Posted By: libertarian21 @ 10/10/2008 1:25:15 PM

Why are only Oboma and Mcain mentioned. I didn't hear any mention of Bob Barr. Shouldn't we be educating our children about our other options? If you don't know who Bob Barr is google him and educate yourself.

  • Posted By: TheGarnisher @ 10/10/2008 1:24:12 PM

Are people really arguing about who the kids should pick? Just leave it alone, it's a harmless exercise that teaches kids about voting. End of story. No need to kill children's innocence just yet.

  • Posted By: me_too @ 10/10/2008 1:14:47 PM

"jmd says "Show any child abortion and they would NOT support that by voting for Obama"

Show any child their aunt, uncle, brother, sister, mother, or father being gunned down in Iraq, and they will not vote for McCain. Pro-life should mean ALL life - if you are so concerned why don't you stop sending our people to war and why don't you adopt a few hundred unwanted children while you are at it. No, you're just good at telling other people what to do, while you sit on your couch and get fatter.

Pro-Choice does not mean baby-killers. Get an education.

    Abortion is an ObamaNation

    how any child

    • Posted By: jmd8888 @ 10/10/2008 1:19:22 PM

You simply cannot compare war to abortion. The people fighting have a choice. The millions of children do not. You sound like every ignorant democrat. Get your head out of the sand. More children have died than every war combined.

  • Posted By: drettinger @ 10/10/2008 1:15:01 PM

It's nice to pander to the children though I doubt they read Newsweek and the reason they don't get to vote is like St. Paul who said, "When I was a child, I thought as a child. I understood as a child but when I became a man, I put away childish things." To clarify, children don't have the wisdom, experience, education or maturity to understand the larger picture of our politician's action or lack thereof. They can't yet understand the importance of world politics. There are voting adults who don't so while this is yet another cutesy pie piece, it's irrelevant and patronizing.

  • Posted By: jmd8888 @ 10/10/2008 1:13:38 PM

General Knowledge - the article is about who kids would vote for. Did you read it?

  • Posted By: jmd8888 @ 10/10/2008 1:12:06 PM

Obama said himself the first thing that he will do as president is sign the "Freedom of choice act" which removes ALL restrictions on abortion. You think the world is in turmoil now? Allow this to happen and you will see unimaginable destruction.

  • Posted By: Nicco @ 10/10/2008 12:53:38 PM

There is nothing wrong with any candidate spending the money to speak to the american public at length about their plans. That is far better than the millions being spent by McCain to desperately attempt to scare the voters about Obama by re-hashing William Ayers. McCain won't place a half hour ad - not because he can't afford the money. He has nothing to say beyond his hate speech.

  • Posted By: mcsplst @ 10/10/2008 10:38:38 AM

That's great they both wanted to be pirates during Halloween. That"s where it stopped Senator McCain went on with this legacy with his cronies (his label for Senator Obama but applies to himself) to become one of the biggest all time Pirates in history stealing from the poor so he could be rich(er). Incidentally I would like to clarify his motto: Putting his country first. He has done just that he's helped put us in debt, in war and disgrace.
    disperation.
