The mom thing did bother me because they were trying to portray her as the typical American mother who juggles it all. Later, Palin did admit that she had "huge amounts of help" with her kids. Mothers like me have no help with their kids and no "staff," we go to work all day, then we come home and clean and cook and take care of our kids by ourselves with possibly a little help from a partner or a grandparent. I also do my own yardwork and renovate my house but all of it is secondary to the kids, they are always first. And unfortunately, she is in for difficult times with her special needs child, a close friend of mine has a brother with Down's and he has always required special medical and psychiatric care and that never goes away, if anything, it became more difficult during the teen and adult years. Let's not pretend she can do it all because no one can...

I'm sorry Dee Dee, when you say "I think she's both smart and resilient and optimistic and courageous and all those things ... Her confident and completely unfazed response to being criticized is great because she didn't run from the stage crying..." You are giving Sarah Palin too much credit. I think she is so sanctimonious, egotistical and arrogant that anyone who criticizes her is beneath her contempt. The criticisms just roll right off her back.
There's a double standard for women in politics and everybody knows it. Palin wouldn't have gotten as far as she has if she wasn't a good-looking woman. Think about it. At first, the image of this no-nonsense, really pretty woman running the White House with John McCain took the country by storm. Then, people started paying atterntion to the pap and drivel coming out of her mouth along with the fear and hate mongering and politician Barbie has lost some of her shine - even if she still has good legs.
Whether or not she is capable of juggling the vice presidency and five children (no matter what other circumstances exist - she will alwyas be the only mother they have) is another issue entirely.

The Palin investigation was about whether she abused her powers in firing Monegan. THE REPORT FOUND:

"I find that, although Walt Monegan's refusal to fire Trooper Michael Wooten was not the sole reason he was fired by Governor Sarah Palin, it was likely a contributing factor to his termination as Commissioner of Public Safety. IN SPITE OF THAT, GOVERNOR PALIN'S FIRING OF COMMISSIONER MONEGAN WAS A PROPER AND LAWFUL EXERCISE OF HER CONSTITUTIONAL AND STATUTORY AUTHORITY TO HIRE AND FIRE EXECUTIVE BRANCH DEPARTMENT HEADS." (Report at 8, emphasis added).

Once that finding was made, the remaining findings, placed out of order for clearly political reasons, are nothing more than a fishing expedition , or rather, investigator Sen. Hollis French's promised "October Surprise." ,

The investigation was bipartisan, right up to the time Palin was selected to run as vp. Then Democrat investigator Sen. Hollis French gave a September 2 interview in which he warned the inquiry would yield an "October Surprise" for the GOP. Any judge in the country would be recused for making such a remark. Hell, the left demands the recusal of justices simply because they went fishing, never mind predicting the outcome before the evidence. Yet French did not recuse himself, and both French and the person responsible for oversight, Democratic Sen. Kim Elton, are both in the famous "Obama Headquarters" photo"

Rep. John Coghill, a Republican who criticized the handling of the investigation, said it was "well-done professionally." But he said some of the conclusions were judgment calls by Branchflower, and recommended readers should view them with a "jaundiced eye." Somehow, this second part gets dropped out of the main stream coverage. I wonder why?

On October 10, the Alaska Legislative Council found Sarah Palin guilty of abusing power. Immediately Ms. Palin said "if you read the report you'll see that there was nothing unlawful or unethical about replacing a cabinet member." This quote by Palin is only 50% true. The Legislative Council report says it was LEGAL for her to fire Commissioner Monegan, since as Governor she has the right to hire and fire her staff at will. The report also says that her firing of Commissioner Monegan was an UNETHICAL abuse of power.

Palin tells you half of the truth, and lies outright about the other half. You know the old saying: If you tell a lie, make sure it contains some truth so it will be believable.

    From the report:

Palin tried to force the Commissioner to prosecute Trooper Wooten (her former brother in law) for illegally shooting a moose. The Commissioner explained to Palin that if they charged Wooten they would also have to bring charges against Palin's sister, who was present on the hunt, had the moose permit and illegally let her husband use it. They would also have to prosecute Palin's father, who cut up the moose and stored it in his freezer, sharing the meat with the Palin family. In other words, the Palins were OK with Wooten illegally shooting the moose when it happened. They participated in the hunt and kept the meat. But a year later when Wooten was divorcing Palin's sister, suddenly the Palins turned him in for illegally killing a moose.

The Palins turned Wooten in to the State Troopers disciplinary commission about a year and a half before she became Governor. The Troopers investigated Wooten, finding that some of Palin's allegations were true and some were false. The Troopers disciplined Wooten with a few days' suspension. When Palin tried to get Monegan (the new Commissioner) to re-open the case once she was Governor, Monegan told her he couldn't do it. All the allegations had already been investigated and Palin had no new evidence. Trooper Wooten belongs to a union, and he can not be fired just because the Governor doesn't like him.

So, the Palins hired a private investigator to trail Wooten, trying to catch him doing something wrong. The investigator took photos of Wooten dropping his kids off at school, using his patrol car. The Palins file a complaint, saying it is illegal for him to ferry his kids in a patrol car. They try and get him fired for this, except it turns out that since Wooten was working a swing shift, his Commander had given him a waiver to bring his kids to school in the car.

Wooten and Palin's sister have been divorced 3 years, yet the Palins continue to persecute Wooten. Palin just can't forgive and get past this family drama.

Sarah Palin referred to the War in Iraq as a mission from God, this comment alone disqualifies her from the office of Vice President. That statement alone proves that she has no clue of the difficulties of foreign affairs. I would love to see a women make it to the Naval Observatory or the White House but she must be qualified. The statements that she makes ar laughable how can she expect to be taken seriously.

Seriously, did you use a 10X magnifier lens when capturing Governor Palin's photo for your cover? And, seriously, did you think this was appropriate? Desperate people resort to desperate measures, and -- given your plummeting numbers in the subscription department -- this appears to be your own version of the "Hail Mary" pass to save your dying magazine. Sad. I miss the old Newsweek, when I actually received balanced news. Count me out when renewal time comes, since your mag has turned into a rag of late.

I have always voted for the Democraitc nominee for President. However, this year the treatment that Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin have received from Democrats has left me disgusted and disinterested in this political party.

Not that bright, but it was expected from you. The campaign is not about gender silly.

With all due respect, it sounds like you are disgusted and disinterested for the wrong reasons and I'm sorry you feel that way. I was a Hillary supporter and Hillary herself is supporting our party and she is asking her supporters to support the Obama/Biden ticket. The fact is the presidential races will always have mudslinging and no it's not right or fair. The unfair treatment is something that makes me want to vote and fight back even more. Women need to keep moving forward. Criticisms of Sarah Palin are being justified by her very own actions of inciting hate and fearmongering. I hope you will do more research about the differences on the ISSUES in this campaign because that is what it all really boils down to. There are stark differences between the two parties ideas on how to deal with the ISSUES and that is what we all should be concerned about.

The report charges Sahara Palin with abuse on the grounds that she did not intervene to prevent Todd Palin from continuing to contact State officials regarding Trooper Wooten. [Report at 65-66] The problem with that conclusion is that she as Governor has no right to do so.

Todd Palin is a private citizen, and as a private citizen, he has a constitutionally protected right to petition the government, a right perhaps most recently spelled out in the Norr-Pennington doctrine. He does not lose that right of petition simply because he is the spouse of the Governor. He can access and petition any public official on any matter as often as he likes, just like any other citizen.

In fact, had Sahara Palin, as Governor, and thus a state actor, interfered with Todd Palin's right to petition, as the report suggests she should have, Todd Palin would have an open and shut case against the State of Alaska under Section 1983 for the violation of his civil rights, specifically his right to petition the government.

And as a practical matter, it was infact Mr. Monegan who asked Sahara Palin to have Todd speak for the family and control all involvement in the matter. [Report at 28 & 58]

Okay ??? This author is making it too easy. ???If she'd been allowed to work as governor of Alaska, stand for re-election, maybe be involved in something like the National Governors Association, travel around the country, travel around the world a little bit, develop a world view that's more clearly thought through than the one she has now, she could have been a formidable candidate.??? For what? I???m miss-pretty-little-girl-that-wants-to-be-vice-president-pageant? How stupid. Most of our PRESIDENTS did not have that much experience! What you left out is that she is not a man!

???And she may still be. But as it stands right now, to say that Barack Obama is no more qualified than Sarah Palin is laughable in my view." Your opinion is laughable. Palin is NOT NOT NOT running for president. McCain is however. Thank God you do not have any ability to write a convincing article. My advice to you is to stick to cookbooks and leave the real journalism to professionals who can see truth over mindless opinion.

Why did Obama PICK A MAN as his running mate?
Surely not to ask him when Roosevelt was president or when the TV was invented or even how to run their joint campaign best. Biden has often times criticized Obama for running a bad campaign. So why Biden then? Without intelligence, we are left with two possibilities: gender and looks. Come on now, I think we all know which Obama must have gone with.

Please. Women have used their appearance since the dawn of time to get ahead and gain power. But we live in a new era, thanks to remarkable and smart women, and Sarah Palin is neither. In fact, she is downright dangerous and John McCain should be losing sleep over the position he has put our country in by choosing HER as his V.P. running mate.. She's not auditioning for a part in a movie-she's now in a position where she could potentially be the most powerful person in the world. It was the most cynical and irresponsible vice presidential choices in American history. I'm not a Republican, but every accomplished and seasoned female Republican politician in our country should be as outraged as I am. And I disagree with Myers-this women is NOT smart or savvy-she is a whackjob who has polarized not just the country but her own party with her clear ignorance of domestic and foreign policy issues and her willingness to bring out the ugliest aspects of American politics with her stupid and, again, dangerous stump speeches where she attacks Obama's character and incites violence and hatred against him among her supporters. She's an insult to all intelligent women who care about our country. You don't wink, hairspray, and "You Betcha" your way to the Oval Office. And if something terrible happens to Obama because of McCain and Palin's desperate hatemongering during this campaign WHEN he becomes President on November 4, they should both be held legally responsible.

Sarah Palin in quite inept and lacks principal. She's made it to this destination on looks alone. There are several professional women who never touched politics that could've winged this process. She's supposed to at least be professional in running an office, have a general or keen understanding of what goes on in our entire nation and abroad. Todd is probably the lamest guy I've heard of, no, he's a p*ssy!!!

John McCain is a good man, who got carried away by ambition, bad people and bad decisions. I think his conscience is bothering him now, and makes him more appealing, and more the man I know him to be.

Sarah Palin may be smart, but she's not who you think she is. Sarah Palin is a traitor to America and to her party.

Well talking about the POPE he is against Biden and Puloski for saying that they believe in abortion and that they have to make amends they are Catholic and the church forbids it. Also they approved Gay rights, I have nothing against that but Obama and Biden said that they were going to give Health care and all legal rights to partners of working people. Think of this one and choke on it. Your average Joe 6 pack has no insurance and then along comes a gay indivual and he has a partner or she and they give fullb benefits under Obama and who is paying for that you and me. so say the guy has aids and his partner has aids who gets that bill and this one partner gets unsurance under his boyfriends insurance and now business;s will be stuck paying for all that hospital bill. Suppose the average person on the street needs insurance and is not partnered and is not married but needs insurance where does he go. He is better off under Obama with being gay or lying to get covered.
These couples not all don"t even stay together that long and we are going to be paying for all their treatments under the Obama and Biden signing the law when he gets in. Sounds like a fun law to me.

For the yo-yo that said she has yet to face journalists and panels. Go to Fox channel, she apologized for being snipy with catie because she is right they do not ask a man what magazines do you read. This women is not a Senator, she made it to Govenor over a man who had been in office and another man who was running, she did not even have to go up steps she made it to the top at 89% popularity. Now the Obama campagin sent in to people she saw them trying to dig up old news. She was acquited but it was etically wrong because it was a brother in law problem. Big deal if that is all that Obamas crew could find she knew it.
She did four interviews since Catie;s she handled everyone with quick answers and said she knew the answers she did not want Catie making a fool out of her. But said that anyone know that wants to challenge her lets go. Watch Camerons interview3, Gretas, Hannity and Colmes.
