All the "political acumen" aside, Sarah Palin remains vapid, manipulative, divisive, disengenuous, and terribly arrogant. Whether male or remale, being the owner of those characteristics ought to disqualify anyone from holding the office of vice president of the United States. For her to presume qualification for that office is laughable. For her to have been catapulted to candidacy for that office speaks volumes about the party that chose her.

She is certainly all of the adjectives that Dee Dee Myers used to describe as her ability to connect with voters but, she also lacks substance. The ability to use words to describe her understanding of the job she's seeking. I don't care that she uses folksie words and I too know how it feels to juggle it all, it's her inability to showcase a clear understanding of the problems we face and her vision of where she wants to take us. It's not enough to judge other's as less than competent or un-american, I have yet to know what she's all about.

She's not well educated. A bachelor's degree from 6 schools in 5 years in Journalism does not meetr the requirements of being vice president. I'm sorry--it just doesn't. She is not self educated, either. All she is s a good speaker. It is depressing to see anyone taken in by that. She did a disservice to her country by accepting the nomination. She has hurt the Republicans in terms of sheer numbers. She has only energized a reactionary base that would have voted for McCain anyway. She was an incredibly bad choice. She s a paen to blind ambition.

I find Sarah Palin to be intelligent and educated, but she uses teenage type slang when she's talking and I cannot envision her talking to a head of state from another country. She seems to do well when scripted, but it's obvious that she doesn't without the script unless it's Obama bashing. I don't care if whe has 5 children and the latest one with diabilities. Maybe she needs to stay home like a good mother and home school her children. Her own personal record seems blemished to me Maybe she should get the logjam out of her own eye before she asks Obama to get the spec out of his!

Comment: Please spare me Sarah Palin. She seems well educated and intelligent, but wily! She does well from scripts, bu why does she have to use teeny bopper lingo such as "don'tcha, won'tch gotcha, Joe six pack, etc. It is beyond imagination to think of her addressing a head of state from another country. She is a Governor, who can't even speak proper English. So what if she has 5 children. Evidently they haven't meant as much to her as climbing the ranks of governmental positions. She is so nasty in her remarks about Barack Obama, but I'm sure that is easy for her based on her record in Alaska She better get the logjam out of her eye before she tries to get the spec out of Obama's

I can't believe that we are still hearing the nonsense that Obama is getting a free pass from the media because the media calls McCain/Palin on the lies that they are saying - if you haven't noticed they point out Obama's inaccuracies as well. When you are telling rabid lies about someone, you should be called on it and McCain is doing that more and more. By hiding Palin away and not allowing her to give regular interviews the McCain team is telling us that she isn't qualified. When her interviews come off as disasters its because the media is treating her unfairly. When Biden has a gaffe they are doing a good job at showing his faults. Palin saying that the the interviews she had didn't give her a chance to "speak to the American people" was a cop out. She didn't like it because they didn't let her slip away from the questions the way she was able to in the debate. Giving the answers you know, rather than the answer to the question asked of you isn't speaking to the people, it's dodging the question when you don't know the answer. That's not a media bias for Obama, or against Palin because she is female. As women we need to demand equal treatment, which means that we don't cry unfair when the media asks questions that they would ask a man. Asking questions about Palin's pregnant daughter is unacceptable and yet it is all right, somehow, to tie Michelle Obama to Ayers because she worked at the same law firm as Ayers wife, even though there are more than 500 employees and no indication that they knew each other. How can one be an unfair attack and the other a legitimate look into "the character" of the candidate.

Treat Palin the same way you would any other candidate. If you do that you come back with one simple answer, this person is not qualified to be Vice-President much less President of the United States. If a man cited being able to see Russia from Alaska as a candidate they would be laughed out of the race. Equality means equal and that's what I want for Sarah Palin.

Sarah Palin is either truly deperate or truly despicable. Not only do they decide to associate Obama with Ayers, with whom Obama has had limited contact, but Palin has also decided to attack Obama's middle name. In addition to attacking Obama, Palin demonizes anyone with a "funny" name, like Hussein and anyone who happens to be a Muslim. Understandably, as a native of Wasilla, Alaska, Palin does not know much about the rest of the world.
Therefore, she does not understand that Hussein is one of the most common names in world. In fact, Hussein was the surname of one of my students, a wonderful, diligent, graceful young lady. Her father, Mr. Hussein, was a concerned, loving, supportive parent who often checked in with me to find out his daughter was doing in my class. As a public employee, I did not investigate Mr. Hussein's religious beliefs. However, if I were apply the precepts of the Book of James in the Bible, which measures faith by works or deeds, I have to say Mr. Hussein's religious beliefs (or lack thereof) were far more worthy of God that the nonsensical claptrap which produced an ignorant bigot like Sarah Palin.
Beyond maligning people's names, Palin and McCain are attacking the loyalty and patriotism of millions of American Muslims, some of whom are serving our country in Iraq and Afghanistan. Once it becomes acceptable to defame Muslims, it becomes acceptable to defame Jews, gays, African Americans, Latinos... The anti-Islamic fervor of McCain and Palin's campaign reminds me of the anti-Semitism of Central Europe in the 1930's. And increasingly, a McCain rally resemble the cross-burning rallies of Ku Klux Klan, and probably Palin in particular attracts her share of Klansmen.
McCain and Palin are not merely anti-American. They are assaulting the very principles and ideals that this country represents. They are a disgrace to America. Every member of the Republican party, as well as their apologists in the media, should hang their heads in shame.

Sarah Palin cannot possibly be considered a feminist. A product of feminism, perhaps, but not a feminist. She has taken everything that the Women's Movement struggled to achieve - stood on the shoulders of giants, you might say - and then spit on women everywhere once she gained power. She would happily have the women of this country lose their right to bodily integrity, would take away our choice as well as our hard-won reproductive health-care benefits, and would probably charge us for our rape-kits in the process (as she did to the women of Wasilla when she was mayor). If she didn't have two x-chromosomes, no one would ever consider her a feminist. (And yes, men *can* be feminists.) The fact that she is a woman and has power in no way qualifies her as a feminist. A monkey may use a typewriter, but that doesn't make him Shakespeare.
