PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE TO BE HELD SUNDAY AT COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY

The Free and Equal Elections Coalition (FREE) and the Columbia Political Union are pleased to announce that a Presidential debate will be held this coming Sunday, October 19th, 2008, on the campus of Columbia University.

ALL SIX of the Presidential candidates who appear on enough state ballots to acquire the 270 Electoral Votes needed to become President are invited. They are as follows (listed in alphabetical order by affiliation):

Constitution Party Candidate: Chuck Baldwin
Democratic Party Candidate: Barack Obama
Green Party Candidate: Cynthia McKinney
Independent Candidate: Ralph Nader
Libertarian Party Candidate: Bob Barr
Republican Party Can John McCain

The Columbia Political Union will present the debate from 8:00pm to 10:00pm in the Altschul Auditorium, located at 417 International Affairs Building. The debate will be moderated by Pacifica Radio's Amy Goodman, the host of "Democracy Now!". CSPAN will cover the debate, and live radio broadcasts are expected.

"The Columbia Political Union is committed to energizing political discourse on Columbia's campus," said Allon Brann, Columbia Political Union Publisher. "As a non-partisan organization, we work to provide students with opportunities to encounter and engage with political ideas across a wide ideological spectrum, and on a wide range of issues."

"It is with these goals in mind that we have organized this Presidential Debate: to give all candidates-- either within or outside of the political "mainstream"-- the opportunity to speak directly to students about their goals on the issues they deem critical for this country."

"We have invited all eligible candidates, and it is our sincere hope that all will participate, to ensure the substance and rigor of the dialogue which we believe is crucial at this time."

Certified letters officially inviting each candidate have been sent to the respective campaigns.

The Free and Equal Elections Coalition and the Columbia Political Union await the response from the candidates. All candidates' supporters are encouraged to contact the Presidential campaigns and urge them to attend.

The Columbia Political Union seeks to enhance involvement in the political process, domestic and international, and draw every member of the campus community into an ongoing discussion of political ideas.

FREE is a coalition of political parties, independent citizens and civic organizations formed to promote free and equal elections in the United States.

Obama will tax those who fix our toilets - as such we will have to pay ten times more than we do now to fix a leak in our toilets. He will tax them so hard, we will not even be able to have working toilets in our house. Its sort of like the buildings in Chicago that Obama has allowed to deteriorate. We will get perhaps a small tax cut....but will be gouged by Obama hurting each and every one in the country. Don't Vote for this man!

There are so many young people who really don't understand that Obama is in bed with terrorists - he launched his campaign in his livingroom. He believes and has trained on how to defraud the American voter. He wants to take $ away from small business - meaning our cost to fix our toilets will sky rocket under Obama. Obama is just that - someone who cannot in any way - in any way - be trusted for anything.

Meanwhile, Rep. John Murtha (D. Pa.) calls his own constituents "racist" but says Obama will win anyway.

Why Bill Ayers is important to this campaign?
John McCain should make the argument personal and something that the American people can identify and understand. John McCain views Bill Ayers as a founder of the Weathermen and Weather Underground and also founder of the Students for Democratic Society SDS on the campus of the University of Michigan. The University of Michigan had held the first sit-in against the war. John McCain and the other 600 Vietnam POWs believe Bill Ayers was responsible for prolonging the war and causing them to receive extra beatings by the North Vietnamese for refusing to show their exuberance for the antiwar effort in the United States. The North Vietnamese fought even harder and refused to negotiate or return our POWs given the organized antiwar protests in the United States. All the North Vietnamese had to do was wait and domestic antiwar protests orchestrated by Bill Ayers would cause the United States to surrender.
John McCain spent five and half years as a POW and personally received extra beatings because of Bill Ayers. Barack Obama views Bill Ayers as a reformed domestic terrorist who did despicable things in the past but should be given a second chance today. For Barack Obama there was never a need to keep a distance from Bill Ayers. Maybe if Barack Obama could have walked in John McCain???s shoes for just one day and suffered just one of the extra beatings that John McCain endured for five and a half years because of Bill Ayers and his Weathermen antiwar movement then maybe Barack Obama might appreciate a need to keep a distance from Bill Ayers. Along with the SDS Students for Democratic Society, Weathermen Underground, the Black Panther Party also actively opposed the Vietnam War. Barack Obama received the support of Southside Chicago Congressman and former Black Panther party member Bobby L. Rush during his bid for the Illinois US Senate seat.
The Black Panther Party along with the Weathermen Underground prolonged John McCains captivity and caused him to receive extra beatings. It is ironic, that Bill Ayers led the antiwar protests during the Vietnam era that caused John McCain to receive extra beatings and to experience nearly six years of captivity, and today Barack Obama has been leading antiwar calls against the Iraq war. Barack Obama can not understand why John McCain is not happy that Barack Obama has not kept a distance from Bill Ayers. If Barack Obama had walked in John McCain???s or any of the other 600 American POWs shoes one day, he would have no problem understanding why he should have kept his distance from Bill Ayers. The word shunning comes to mind. If Barack Obama would have shunned Bill Ayers and members of the Black Panthers Party there would be no issue in tonights debate.

Uh, 'scuse me, but I think we've already seen the latter, Mr McDarkSide himself. Over and over, because he thinks, like so many people befogged by their own colossal hubris, that apologizing is all that it takes. Apologies are only empty, ugly words unless they are immediately followed up with every action necessary to right the wrong done. Can any thinking person see McShame ever doing that? He would rather suffer a painful death! His past is so darkly tainted -- I think the things named in this article are just a very few of the total items -- that when he delivers his concession speech, he should at least have the spine to say to his party, ok, this nation has been forced to suffer at the hand of the Bush/Cheney/Rummy/Gonzalez/Rove/Addington/Rice thugs for 8 interminable years. Now, it's our turn to suck it up and deal with a new order. Think that will happen?

Jackson is nothing more than a preacher trying to make money,on anybody side.Obama took it to the corporation preacher stooge and he don't like it.Jackson rides coatails ,rode kings tail for years.Never was the leader to the people ,only thru the corp. he was given a stage.He was self serving in the name of god. Now Obama can put this chapter to rest, Jackson was a reccession to civil right in america.
