While Senator McCain's activities of late have smacked of desperation, today he stood up for America when he defended Senator Obama against two different ignorant right-wing nutjobs at a rally in Minnesota. It was an honorable thing to do and he should be applauded for it.

Eleanor for the sake of honesty should either get a face lift or a new picture; regarding the McCain proposed town Hall meetings; it went with the Obama: "I'll debate John McCain anytime anywhere." So much for integrity. Then of course there is also Obama's "my word is my bond", which is when he decided to opt out of public financing., after forswearing to do so. This no doubt is why Israel is so comforted by Obama's promises of solidarity. What many are failing to realize is that while cream rises to the top; so does hot air. But then why look at Obama's accomplishment (really the lack thereof) and his promises in Illinois state political campaigns where he promised to; Lower taxes (they went up), provided health care for everyone (two billion later and still the same number uninsured) and then there is improving education ; well, why even go there, you can check for yourself how dreadful Chicago's school system is.

    Go Obama; go where?

John McCain and Sarah Palin are either truly deperate or truly despicable. Not only do they decide to associate Obama with Ayers, with whom Obama has had limited contact, but Palin has also decided to attack Obama's middle name. In addition to attacking Obama, Palin demonizes anyone with a "funny" name, like Hussein and anyone who happens to be a Muslim. Understandably, as a native of Wasilla, Alaska, Palin does not know much about the rest of the world.
Therefore, she does not understand that Hussein is one of the most common names in world. In fact, Hussein was the surname of one of my students, a wonderful, diligent, graceful young lady. Her father, Mr. Hussein, was a concerned, loving, supportive parent who often checked in with me to find out his daughter was doing in my class. As a public employee, I did not investigate Mr. Hussein's religious beliefs. However, if I were apply the precepts of the Book of James in the Bible, which measures faith by works or deeds, I have to say Mr. Hussein's religious beliefs (or lack thereof) were far more worthy of God that the nonsensical claptrap which produced an ignorant bigot like Sarah Palin.
Beyond maligning people's names, Palin and McCain are attacking the loyalty and patriotism of millions of American Muslims, some of whom are serving our country in Iraq and Afghanistan. Once it becomes acceptable to defame Muslims, it becomes acceptable to defame Jews, gays, African Americans, Latinos... The anti-Islamic fervor of McCain and Palin's campaign reminds me of the anti-Semitism of Central Europe in the 1930's. And increasingly, a McCain rally resemble the cross-burning rallies of Ku Klux Klan, and probably Palin in particular attracts her share of Klansmen.
McCain and Palin are not merely anti-American. They are assaulting the very principles and ideals that this country represents. They are a disgrace to America. Every member of the Republican party, as well as their apologists in the media, should hang their heads in shame.

Sadly, I think that McCain has chosen to fully embrace the dark side. It is hard to imagine that this man is running this hate filled campaign that seeks to further divide this nation. I expected this of the Roves and Schmidts, but I wanted to believe McCain when he said he would eschew these types of politics. But after he hired the same people who smeared him and his family in 2000, I guess I shouldn't have been surprised that he would travel this road. It's sad that for a man of his age, he has decided that his legacy and honor are less important than winning an election. I would feel sorry for him except that he and his running mate are going around the country and inciting hatred and bigotry. Imagine a US Senator and Governor going around the country and accusing another Senator of being affiliated with a terrorist? We are a better nation than this and that rabble doesn't represent or speak for most Americans, Republican, Democrat, or Independent.

Today it seems that America is like a ship sailing in very rough seas. The ocean that she is sailing is full of people, Americans, ready to make a difference and put their shoulders to the problems facing America. However, as we all know, oceans are full of sharks and this ocean is so infested with sharks that it is named the Media Ocean. Consider: The Good Ship America, The Media Ocean and The Obama Iceberg at: http://zachjonesishome.wordpress.com/2008/10/10/the-good-ship-america-the-media-ocean-and-the-obama-iceberg/

Can anyone be surprised that McCain is resorting to the tactics every Republican candidate has used since Nixon? Really, it was only a matter of time before race, and religion smears and guilt by association became the main stategy. McCain picked Gov. Palin because she comes straight from a Jerry Springer show. It was very clever to get a female attack dog, and her bark has been the most popular part of his campaign. With every attack, honorable John McCain reveals the real personaity that has been largely hidden fron voters for years. He is an angry, impatient and vindictive man. For years his behavior has been excused by the media and by his colleagues because of his POW status. The more we see the personal attacks and the effort to fire up the base with smears; the more we see the real version of John McCain. I say let the old guy rant all he wants. Let his running mate rave and repeat her lines for all of us to see and hear. As they continue to play to the right wing; they give the election to Obama on a silver platter.

I think McCain is playing a very dangerous game by inciting fear and hatred in his followers. I saw the emotion of some of his supporters at his latest town hall meeting. I am worried that one of them will try to assassinate Sen. Obama.

    THE ACORN PROBLEM
Obama's Campaign Paid Over $800,000 To ACORN For Get-Out-The-Vote Efforts, But "Mistakenly Misrepresented" Their Work To The FEC:

Obama's Campaign "Paid More Than $800,000" To ACORN For Get-Out-The Vote Efforts; The Campaign Originally "Misrepresented" The Group's Work To The FEC. "U.S. Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign paid more than $800,000 to an offshoot of the liberal Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now for services the Democrat's campaign says it mistakenly misrepresented in federal reports. An Obama spokesman said Federal Election Commission reports would be amended to show Citizens Services Inc. -- a subsidiary of ACORN -- worked in 'get-out-the-vote' projects, instead of activities such as polling, advance work and staging major events as stated in FEC finance reports filed during the primary." While we're on the topic of less than honorable actions:

Even Bill Clinton points to liberal Congressional Democrats' protection of Fannie and Freddie from scrutiny as a primary cause of the current economic meltdown.

The link below contains a purported list of the top 25 in Congress who got contributions from the folks at Fannie and Freddie. Obama is listed third, after Dodd and Kerry, even though Obama is just a junior Senator. Obama is followed next by Clinton. Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi are on the list as well.

Then there is the Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher J. Dodd who allegedly got special mortgage deals from Countrywide, who gave preferential rates to 'friends' of company's chairman.

And then there is House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who allegedly has directed nearly $100,000 from her political action committee to her husband's real estate and investment firm.
